9icetoo:Scientifically proven. A Corolla can not use the same oil with a Range Rover. There's oil for Toyota from Castrol and it's called motor oil while the one for Range Rover is called advanced full synthetic oil with guarantee of 20000 miles. Mobil now created a special oil for Toyota Honda and Nissan so that dem nor go do pass themselves. If a Corolla 2005 is using 5w30 and an Evoque 2018 is using 5w30 engine oil, is it possible to use the same extended performance oil on the Corolla? Think am well |
dru23:So the owner of the car was right about the green coolant destroying his car |
kingreign:You are correct. He confessed later that it was the poor acceleration that made him stop at the petrol station to buy coolant hoping that it will relieve the car of the sluggish tendencies |
mammanbawa:Thanks for the explanation. It is an eye opener. I will analyze the point in our weekly meeting for us to learn about it. |
We are all coming home to resolve this problem. Rangerover ownerships are not going through any hell. If anyone has not driven a Rangerover, he is going to hell with complaints. You own an equivalent of a rolls Royce but with the ability to go anywhere. That said, we all know that you are advised not to mix different colors of coolant like it was pointed out by our Rangerover owner in the UK. Toyota coolant is sold for almost 5k à litre and it can never be recommended for any modern Rangerover. I once queried those guys that recommends Mobil 1 5w30 for Corolla and Kia Rio while Rangerover Evoque and Discovery sport recommends the same oil for these cars up till 2019. Practice, they say makes perfect. I used to change oils in over 1000 cars monthly and we always analyze the oil most times and our customers fidelity was huge. The testimony of the owner of the car is being put to the hotspot. I have fixed the car and it is no longer in my shop. We are looking for a solution to the failure of the V6 engine on a Rangerover. Any idea |
GAZZUZZ:Red and green coolant. First it’s on a Rangerover. Second, what type of coolants are they selling at petrol stations ? Third, the owner confirmed that he used the green coolant on the red already in the car. Like you confirmed with your post, it will destroy the head gasket. So imagine the cheap coolant being sold locally on a V6 supercharged of a Rangerover, you will get a volcanic eruption in the engine and that was what happened |
banky3w:Sure it’s a daily drive car |
Make una clap for me.

Just like the one we are currently fixing, the guy said he bought it for his wife just 3 months ago and another mechanic just fixed the engine and he was driving around Alausa and the engine gave up. For this job, the sump, block, crankshaft, and one cylinder head gave up the spirit and four pistons. Getting a new engine was out of the equation and we finished the rebuilding just last night. Just last two weeks, we got an engine for the same v6 because the owner arranged the purchase. There's another v6 that we have dismantled the engine but the owner is still contemplating whether or not to rebuild or buy the engine. This brought up the question about the failure of the V6 engine . Lejeun told me that it might be that the supercharged is too much for the engine. He said that the Evoque also suffers from engine issues and never the gear. Since a lot of the experts are following, what is the solution because the owners are not smiling about the problem. Any other idea?

Hmmm. The guy was driving with a red intermittent coolant level low on the dashboard and according to him decided to buy coolant at a petrol station in ikorodu axis and still according to him, immediately he poured the green coolant after he waited for the engine to cool down, he drove out of the station and he noticed that the car was no longer accelerating like before and the next thing, it stopped at a very dangerous area of the ikorodu axis and he placed a call to our towing team. I tried to call the nearest truck to ikorodu but no one dared to go there. Next was to help them remove the gear from park because he found someone who had volunteered to help with the towing. I tried explaining to them the process but they couldn't get it. Then a police officer called to beg me to come over and assist. This time, it was already midnight. The battery was dead from the constant vain effort to start the car and they did not know where to jumpstart the car. I eventually went to the place and I was there by 1 am and dragged the car to Ikeja with a sienna towing me and the owner driving the car I came with. Though it was not advisable, I had to manage the car with the gear cable lifted up till we got to Ikeja. Except for the sump, crankshaft and one of the cylinders which were still okay, everything else was changed. The block engine cracked and affected the cylinder, the pistons flew out of its place. So in a nutshell, he told me that it was after he put the green coolant into the car that the car finally decided to stop moving. He said that he was not aware that he could use water instead of the coolant. His friends who were with him in the car confirmed the story. |
erico2k2:I had a 2015 V6 that we overhauled. The owner was driving with coolant level low and decided to buy coolant and immediately he added green coolant to the red one inside and the engine knocked after five minutes of driving. |
badbwoy77:I am close to Ajayi Farm and I am not very old and so it can't be me. If you are using the right oil, even as a daily drive, 6 months is still the mark. I used to travel to Abuja from Lagos and back and yes I can change every three months because by the time I am on my 3rd return trip from Abuja of 899kms per trip, the oil should be changed even though it is highway mileage, but I still do change the oil. That was when I was using Total and Oando. But with Addinol and Castrol, my customers return their cars for service after 7 month at times |
erico2k2:Someone used Adler CVT on his 06 Sport and we started arguing over the matter. I just told him that I can't repair the gear for him because my gear specialist was not around. He said you go for talk am say you nor sabi fix the gear. Another came to me that he has been using Mobil Xhp 20w50 and as he was driving, the engine stopped. In my mind, I said where you want it to go again? |
erico2k2:You are very correct on this one. But from my experience using Freezetone, there is no 50/50 mix of the coolant. It is 100% usage. |

badbwoy77:Hmmm, that is riskier. Besides the fuel and the oil, the other culprit is the radiator coolant. A lot of us use anti freeze which is very wrong. We don't have any freezing temperature here in the country and so we tend to copy things that are not relevant to the car. I have driven under -2 © years ago and I know the effect of the anti freeze. It prevents the radiator to freeze but here, we wake up with 25 degrees in the morning. Oil is also a coolant dispersing heat away from the engine and good oil is needed. The Euro 6 standard for fuel is not available here and so we manage what we find. The use of low octane fuel is a sure bet to destroy the engine. |
Finally visited Mandilas. I will advise everyone having engine oil shortage to visit them. These are hard times to toy with your engine. They have the means to test your engine for oil shortages. They are in Sura and Ebute Meta. Please post your experience with them here and together let us resolve this problem. |
komekn:You have said it all |
badbwoy77:That's good news. The question still remains, why is the high level of failure. I went to the market yesterday to buy a first grade engine for 5.5m and it was not fun. How do we prevent such from happening.?

We have noticed a sad trend of the failure of the v6 engines in the Range Rover. It's a cause of concern. Owners of the V6 supercharged, wetin dey happen? What is causing the failure of the engine? Tell us so that we get first hand information about the cause of failure. Are you using radiator coolant? Octane booster and quality oil? These three things are the things to use to protect the engine of the car. The sad reality is the rebuilding of the engine is better than buying a used engine in the local market. Take care of the car and save your money.

There are no fake tyres except if it is not meant for your car or for Nigerian roads. Unless it's very difficult, like 18 rims having a V speed rating, all tyres should have V speed rating for better fuel consumption and road handling . I have bought many of these tyres and they perform well |

lecky001:Air force mechanic workshop agege motor road after Ikeja along opposite eldorado |
lecky001:This is 5 letters. It doesn't correspond with the transmission problem |
There are mangoes and there is mango. This is the king of fruits and it is only found in Benin, Nassarawa and Benue. You can't find it in Sapele. The woman that has it in Lagos sell 7 pieces for 1000 naira. I have been eating the other species because it looks absurd. I used to buy a basket at New Benin market for 2k years ago but the Op might be right. Things are not the same concerning mangoes |
lecky001:Did you scan the car? |
lecky001:Model of car? Shift 3-4 is very delicate. It means the valve body is malfunctioning. What oil did you use now? |
TotoNaRubber:Let us talk. 08098534267 |
thelegend1:I must have offended him even though I don't know him |
TotoNaRubber:The tokunbo white color is 8 million and the naija used black is 5m. Engine repairs are relative. They are both driving but needs some tune up |
Hmmm. I have two direct 2013 range Rover sport for sale. Poorly used but repairs guaranteed. Who's buying used brake pads?
