Happy new year guys! Please I need information on the cost of shipping a van (the size of a Ford Econoline Van or Chevrolet express cargo) to Lagos. I haven’t bought it yet, but I’m thinking of traveling to New Jersey, buying on Facebook marketplace and shipping with any reputable company. Please I’ll appreciate your advice.

Does anyone know about the protocols to request for transcript in Unibadan. I urgently need my Masters transcript, and I understand it’s issued from the PG school (I initially thought it was issued by the department). What I don’t know how to go about this and if PG school is open during the ongoing strike.

Thankful for a memorable 2018, and for this platform. When this thread opened in August, i only typed “amen” to a post on success to prospective visa applicants. Had my interview 3-4days later and it was indeed a success. My journey has been greener ever since. I pray that 2019 will be from your lips to God’s ears. To those that believe, keep believing. During summer, if you get a job like internship position. Take the offer for employment to International Student, and ask for approval. You will be given a new i20 and it will state your new offer and the expiry date. Also if you don't have up to 20 hours of job per week on campus at the moment, you can get a job outside, but the job must relate with your major, and the hours you work in total from campus and outside job should be 20 hours.

I believe your question was not fully understood. If I'm correct, you wanted to know if it's legal to work up to 40 hours during the summer, right? USCIS permits full-time employment (21-40 hours per week) during vacation periods and summer for enrolled and continuing students on F-1 status. Note that it has to be on campus. https://www.ice.gov/sevis/employment

Hi guys. I need some enlightenment on SSN. My GA required me to apply for it which I did. I received my social security card now and don't know much about it. If I decide to use it to get a job outside school, are there any risk involved?

You don't need a SSN to activate star id. Use the link they sent you. Click on activate StarID thru email, then enter your email. A verification code will be sent to your mail. Go back and enter the code. You'll get an 8-digit code. Thats it. You'll then set up your Start id password. As for scholarship, I got to know it was awarded by the CIS arm of the school and it comes with conditions. Its a whole lot but you'll be oriented on how to maintain it every semester once you r given. I didn't apply specially for it.

Just arrived the Greyhound bus station in Minneapolis. Awaiting the next bus trip to St. Cloud which is in 4hrs time. Please anyone at St. cloud state university who could help me with booking an apartment. I would also be needing a place to drop my bags as I urgently need to be at the dept for registration. As it looks I’ll be arriving sch 12:55PM. Pls help

Got my passport yesterday. Had to immediately book my flight. I’m off today. I really appreciate every honest input on this thread. Seriously Nairaland is underrated!! My story is a bit different, it’s more of favor than merit! God has been surprising me all round.
I wrote my exams at a time when it was almost impossible to get a school accepting applications for fall 2018. Wrote the GRE in March, Toefl in April. I could only come up with 2 schs that were still accepting applications; St. Cloud State Uni and Georgia southern uni. Applied to SCSU. I almost gave up at some point when I was lost on how to go about Wes. Completed Wes a month and 5 days after deadline (May 15). Got admitted June 20. Booked visa appointment on August 17 ( (7:15AM)
Was interviewed by a fair lady in her mid 30’s at window 5. Blue paper was flying everywhere. She denied the army officer before me, dude was fully kitted. Was like ehnnnn mogbe

VO: Good morning
Me: Morning
Where are you going?
I’m going to St. Cloud State University, 720 4th Avenue south, MN for a research Masters program in Gerontology with a concentration in Bio-gerontology.
VO: oh.. I see you have a partial scholarship how did you get it?
Me: Ermm.. We’ll I think I had a convinsing SOP and maybe my publications and test helped too.
VO: *types for a while* What were your test scores
Me: GRE 291, Toefl 78
VO: Can I have your personal statement of account
Me: *hands her* not looking satisfied so i quickly handed her my mums SOA
VO: ok.. I’ll be approving your visa but I need you to sign here *points to I-20*

Was actually considering differing till spring but then I received a GA offer on Monday that included part tuition remission and monthly stipends! Had to stay putttt! Thank you all. Flight is 12PM lemme sleep small. God bless!

N.B. I will like to make it a bit easier for you by helping you with routing...

Don't fly to New York instead fly directly to Chicago from Nigeria (it will save you travel time and money) then take Greyhound bus from Chicago to St cloud which will cost you around $55.

I’m on an F1 visa for a masters program. Do I need return ticket? Also if I choose to go via bus trip from JFK how do I go about ticketing from Nigeria?

Book your JFK return, and also secure/pay for the Minneapolis ticket before departing Nigeria. You then should be fine, your situation is understandable....

Please I need advise. I’m about to book a flight. I’m heading to Minneapolis but the flight is too expensive from Lagos. I realized that JFK is cheaper. I am thinking of flying to JFK and maybe join a bus or train to Minneapolis just to cut cost. Would it make sense? Would there be issue at the POE if they ask me why I didn’t book a direct flight to Minneapolis? Hope they wouldn’t think it’s migration intent? What else can I do? I’m actually going to St. Cloud state University

Public holidays affect visa processing as the embassy observes such holidays. However, if the visa is already processed, it may not affect pickup (I'm not sure of this). To be on the safe side, you may want to request an extension from your school.

If you're requesting wes to send evaluated transcript to just one sch, then it's roughly 93k using your master card. You can't send transcript yourself, rather go to your former sch and request that they send to wes USA. NB: You have to make payment to wes first in order to regenerate a reference nos before going to your former sch. Good luck
