Congrats boy adedoja99: So my experience. Interview date: 8th of June Time: 6:45
I got there 5:35, then they called 6:30 first then 6:45 next. We went through the whole security checks and all, man I was scared afff but I was over prepared so I kept my cool. Got in and did the thumb print then queued for the visa. So quickly, people abeg apply to a good school and answer the question they asked you pls. A girl went before me and nailed herself. She did well until she was asked until she was asked to mention the schools she applied to ( iglobal, and 2 other universities that are not that bad) but immediately the VO heard iglobal, the VO asked the girl to mention the schools again, and that was when I knew she nailed herself. The funny thing is she wasn't going to iglobal, but she applied. She was also asked "did you take any exam"? She answered: I tool IELTS, but it was not required!!! I felt bad for the babe sha. So my own proper (in no particular order)
VO: Goodmorning (smiling) Me: Goodmorning (trying to hide nervousness) VO: so where are you going? Me: Morehouse college, Atlanta Georgia VO: To do what ? ME: To get my bachelors degree in computer science VO: how did you get to know about the school? ME: it was introduced to me by Mrs ********* , who's the advisor at educationUsa, then I learnt more using Collegeboard big future and I used commonapp to apply VO: Did you use this commonapp to apply to other schools? ME: Yes, I did apply to 9 other schools VO: Wow, you (I didn't hear the rest) ME: Yes I applied to 9 then I mentioned (Davidson college and the rest) VO: Davidson college? Where? ME: North Carolina VO: so why computer science? ME: I chose to study computer science because....blah blah VO: Good ME: (smiling) VO: Who's sponsoring you? ME: I got $*0k in scholarship per academic year and my aunt (VO cuts in) VO: That's a huge amount of money (smiling) ME: I was just relaxed at this point VO: How did you get it? Me: I took the SAT, TOEFL (cuts in again) VO: What did you score on the SAT? ME: I got 1430 on the new SAT VO: That's a good score ME: (I was just thinking about how I'll locate the pick up location) VO: I've approved your visa.....

Im guessing Portland Oregon. It has a huge variation in affordability which depends on which part you choose to live in........ Lents, Brentwood-Darlington is going to be most affordable. If you're looking for something closer then Kenton, Creston-Kenilworth, and Woodstock can be cheaper options. Oregon is Relatively affordable when Compared to San Francisco, CA Lewis & Clark isn't ? A better Choice for an Environmental law program
nwendujudy: Hello everyone.
I want to know, how adviseable is it to be denied visa with an unranked school's I20 and refiring almost immediately with a ranked school? Should I just reapply or wait till the next session? How affordable is living at Oregon for an average student because the school am looking at now is located there?. I need opinions and practical experience if possible. Thanks all |

.... i vetted on the second interview that way because of the way you answered who will pay for your program, i will advice you rephrase the second answer then Auspicious2018: .
I explained clearly and he understood this. If not his question should have being, why will your uncle want to spend so much on your masters? and not why do you want to spend so much on a masters..... |

Are you sure that was what you answered? because that was not what you typed as an answer to your second interview when he asked who was paying Auspicious2018:
First interview... I will be paying tuition. He then asked so who will pay remaining i20 amount Ans. My uncle. Never said uncle was paying rest 50%.
Same with second. |
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 13 by Sorelee(m): 11:53am On Jun 04, 2018 |
On your second response to that answer you said your uncle would be covering the 50%. Off course owing a business does not stop you from having a masters degree. I mean why asking that question he gave you a hint as its regards no financial support coming from your own business to your masters program.

Im a VO and i am thinking, you have your personal business and you say 15 persons work under you, but you still rely on your rich uncle to sponsor 50% percent of your tuition fee not a single penny from you even when you own a business to support your academics. how is that so? or does your uncle also pay your workers? The Vo even asked *Why are you spending so much on a masters since you have a business?* that statement should mean something to you Auspicious2018: My first interview.
*Why Business Analytics* My passion for Business Analytics was sparked up when I helplessly watched my previous company fold up due to lack of business insights and strategies. During the course of running my business, I have seen a crucial need to leverage data in making accurate decisions. In other to get my business to the summit and help other businesses in Nigeria thrive, I realized I require more education and training. Hence my resolve for business Analytics
*How did you know about UTdallas* I got to know about UTdallas from topuniversities.com when searching for schools offering business Analytics
*How did you know about Business Analytics* I stumbled on a journal on Big Data by Harvard Business school in Novare mall. After going through it, I realized business Analytics was exactly what I needed.
*What's your company into* My company is into exterior building finishes. Cladding, glass curtain wall and structural glass work
*Staff strength* 15
*Why not an MBA* An MBA is generic and covers various aspects. Business Analytics is specific and uses evidence based data for decisions. Modern tools are used to collect data and analyse them for trends to make accurate decisions. Decision is very crucial and as one who wants to set up a pioneer Business Intelligence firm in Nigeria, Business Analytics is what I really need now
*You have kids* Yes I do
*Will they be going with you* Yes. They are very young and require all motherly care and affection
*How about your husband* He will be taking care of them while I focus on my studies
How much is your tuition* I have the Dean's excellence scholarship which reduces my tuition by 50%. So I'll be paying about $13,000
*Who will handle the rest* My Uncle who is currently the Managing Director of xyz which has about 2 oil wells in Nigeria will be taking care of all other expenses.
*Can I have his statement* Yes please. He looked through statement. Uncle had over $250,000 balance from last 6months
*Sorry I can't approve your visa at this time*. Please any reasons for that? He said I should look through the paper he gave me I'll understand. I looked through and it was talking about home tie.
After thinking through the fact that I've had lots of career pauses due to being a nursing mother. I decided to leave my entire family behind as a tie and proceed for my masters.
Interview2 6:30 Today
*What University?* University of Texas at Dallas *What's your highest level of education?* Bachelors *When did you graduate?* 2012 **What have you been doing since then?* After my NYSC in 2013, I got a job with *** Bank as Management trainee. I then moved to *** (offshoot KPMG) where I got exposed to advisory services. After this I worked with *** and later resigned to set up my business which I currently manage. *What course are you going to study?* Business Analytics *What level?* Masters *What will it do for you?* Business Analytics will equip me with managerial and technical skills required to expand my business and set up one of the very first Business Intelligence consultancy firms in Nigeria that will make use of modern tools and technologies to collect data, analyze them for trends and effectively transform data into recommendations and insights that will help business stakeholders make accurate, strategic and prompt decisions that will help them increase their efficiency, improve their business processes and increase their profitability. *Who will pay?* I have the Dean's excellence scholarship which reduces my tuition by 50%. My Uncle will take care of the others *What does he do?* He is the Managing Director of *** which has about 2 oil wells in Nigeria. *Why are you spending so much on a masters since you have a business?* There is never too much to invest in getting educated. This program will help me get my business to the summit. Having watched my previous company fold up due to lack of insights and strategies, I know I need more education and training since I'm from a science background. Working with *** advisory services, I realized lots of businesses needed advice on how to move their business forward. Business Analytics is an emerging field in Nigeria, so my firm will be one of the pioneer Business intelligence consultancy firms in Nigeria. With Business Analytics I'll be able to actualize both passion. *Are you married?* Yes I am *Any kids?* 3 I'm sorry I can't approve your visa. ****They won't be accompanying me and I've made a list of my ties. With the look of things your proposed school get K-leg ooo so many bad ratings about that school online and the VO definitely knows this micah1865: My Visa got delayed again. Where did i go wrong?
VO: What are you going to study in Us?
Me: Im going to study a Masters of Business administration with concentration in International Business.
VO: Why did you choose this University?
Me: Apart from the fact that Lincoln University suits my study plan, its a business oriented University with the 3rd largest MBA program in the Bay area that upholds a strong international focus with an average student record of 3.5gpa in the last 4 years which proves the quality of education id be getting at a cost effective tuition fee.
VO: why this course?
Me: Im going for an mba because i want to venture into management and also start a modern digital business in the Nigerian food market. where id create an online presence for the sales and distribution of food in Nigeria. Which some of the 36 credit unit course id be taking for the next 24 months at lincoln University will enhance me with the skills currently required in the Nigerian business sector.
Vo: Are you married?
no!
VO: do you have kids
no!
you do not qualify....... bla bla bla.

I don't see how that should be a problem. Definately the VO is also fully aware that Masters in business law could make her a better business person in today’s global economy. Not everyone goes to law school to become just a lawyer. Whether you’re interested in practicing law for a multinational firm or planning to apply your newfound expertise in the region’s law to a career in business, studying law outside your country will vastly enrich your profile. Infact Today’s economy is increasingly global. Students looking for an edge in this dynamic marketplace are likely to find it in commercial law studies abroad. So I don't see how that should be a problem . TWoods:
The VO is fully aware that you do not need a US or foreign degree to be a successful lawyer in Nigeria. In fact, the VO is also aware that a US law degree is of practically no use to you as a lawyer in Nigeria. It was pretty easy to see why you were denied. 4 Likes |

i have honestly been reading through your interview transcript and cant still find an obvious error in it yet, maybe i be olodo sha .... the only thing i see is that you applied to only one school, ( has a serious student you should applied to more than one). Secondly, you dint write any standardized test, Although you told the VO you wrote the school admission Test so i cant say that was where the error came from All in All Im not a VO, its to the discretion of the VO to approve or Denial Visas. probably something in your application just didn't go well with him, you can try again and hope for the best tyma21:

changing a sponsor in such a quick succession will definitely raise eyebrows. DO NOT DO THAT tyma21:
Is it possible to change the sponsor’s name and moreover won’t it be like *what changed and why did she change her mind*?
Getting a sponsor is not a difficult thing just thinking about how feasible its going to be.
Please can i get your number so i can chat with you privately? |

The American Embassy take a holistic approach based on your sponsor, liquid/semi liquid/ fixed assets and take a view and Since your father has enough in his bank statement covering first year of tuition fees/living expenses as that will lend lot of credibility they might consider the stock investment. But the disadvantage is that US Visa authorities also know that the value of stocks/shares are volatile and would prefer expect liquid savings ( bank statement) to be in a position to easily meet the financial requirements of the student. if this is the only option for funds you have, then just pray and hope for the best whyqueu: Help! Help!! Help!!!
Peepz, I could not sleep since yesterday after my interview!
I seriously need help from you guys !! Genuine advice and I will come clean . There's an adage "Person wey ask for road no they miss road"
VO gave me a white paper ,saying and I quote " Bank statement showing the Funds for First year and Plan for second year"
My Sponsor : My dad has a 9.6 million spread in his 3 account !
Total fee for a year for study : $23518 (This will cover full year )
He has about 7 million in his Stock/Share/investment( what ever you call it ..Which we will attached to the document ! I want to send the document tomao !
My cry is will this be Good enough ? " Looking back to the statement the VO wrote I don't understand it clearly " The truth is my head is full. I need you guys not to neglect me and say something as regards this ..I will be grateful

Nice and thoughtful answers... My advice Practice Practice, Practice and please do not CRAM lalahhh: Please this is my proposed transcript. Please help me check it. Criticism is highly welcome please . Thank you. Me- Good morning VO- Good morning, pass me your passport and I-20 VO- where are you going to? Me- I’m going to North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina for my masters in History. VO- what’s your major? Me- History VO- how many schools did you apply to? Me- For full applications I applied only to NCCU but I applied to the University of Wyoming but a decision from NCCU cake through before I could complete the application of University of Wyoming. VO - so why NCCU? Me- Aside from the full scholarship I got to attend NCCU, NCCU’s history department enables students to enjoy and benefit from a mentoring environment that allows students reach their full potential and places them in a position to be successful researchers as the schools history department produces more students who have earned their PHD in history than any other Historical Black college and University in USA and this I am fascinated by as my career goal is to be a history professor in one of the top universities in Nigeria and I also feel proud as a Nigerian to be attending a school in USA who’s chancellor is from Nigeria. VO- what’s your highest degree? Me- B.A in history and international studies VO- so how did you hear about NCCU? Me- my sister first told me about NCCU and then I made a research online about it and I was very impressed by its cultural diversity and how easy it would be for me to settle in well being that its HBCU (Historical Black College and Univeristy). VO- how come your sister knows about NCCU Me- she went to North carolina A&T and she told you great stuffs about the school which she learnt from her friends schooling there.. VO- I see you graduated since 2015, what have you been doing since then? Me- after graduation, I completed my NYSC and I started working with my dad at his Quarry in Ogun state .At the quarry I help out with general administrative duties including but not limited to typing of memos, taking minutes in meeting, I take stock too and staff recruitments and salary preparation. It’s more like the HR of the company sir . VO- in your previous interviews I noticed you wanted to go for Peace and Conflict Resolution why change to History? Me- History and international studies is the course I did as an undergraduate. And In NCCU I get to minor in Peace and Conflict Resolution. VO- what’s your study plan? Me- I must complete a minimum of 21hours of History major classes ,9hrs of external minor and 9hrs of internal minor related to History, complete a reading proficiency exam, complete a comprehensive written exam and complete a research thesis of 6hour credit which includes oral exams. VO- what will this course do for you Me- A masters degree in history is extremely versatile, and after the completion of my studies i would be taking up a teaching position at my Alma mater . Also, Nigeria history is enriched by archaeological discoveries just like Egypt, Rome and Israel to which millions of people in search of truth and possibly their roots pay so much in accommodation and travels to register sentiments and presence. It is unbelievably surprising that in Nigeria no such effort is made to match these countries, Thus i plan on collaborating with the Government in giving Nigeria rich history her best possible recognition ..... VO- who’s sponsoring you? Me- I have merit scholarship and family support VO - types for a while and says your visa has been approved.

VO : Why did you choose Tarleton state university
Me : I choose Tarleton state university because of two professors , Professor Bradt Poe and Professor Ted ford. Professor Bradt Poe does research on Plant Breeding and Seed Technology for vast 25 years and he has worked on various crops like Vigna uniguiculata, seseme seed, weed seed , chocorus olitorus, amaratus and many others corps and Professor Ted ford reaserch on seed cytogenesis, Agricultural Extension, Heterosis ,plant tissue culture and many more and I was fastinated about there works and they offered me a research work on a particular project which is "Variability and use of multiple seed viqour indices to predict field emergency and potential longevity in crops like seseme, vigna ungiculata and zea mays . which is value for money .The way you have your answers im afraid the VO might lose interest and cut you short half way through the conversation.... You see its very important that your answers are not Verbose so try and rephrase..... how about something like this I choosed Tarleton State University because of the opportunity to work with Prof Bradt (Prof Bradt is enough to mention) whom i had the opportunity to meet during the annual international agricultural conference in Tanzania. He was the guest speaker. he is a great researcher of plant breeding and seed technology something he has been doing for the past 25 years ( i think its better you say this here so as to try and buttress your point on why the prof made you choose the school) and i am fascinated about all his work on the various crop he has worked on ( you can mention 2-3 crops ) He also offered me a research opportunity on a particular project he is working on which is "Variability and use of multiple seed viqour indices to predict field emergency and potential longevity in crops like seseme and zea mays . which is value for money .. i think this way you did be more clearer and concise... Those botanical crops names though why not use the crops common name instead, the VO might not even know what type of crops you talking about lol whyqueu: My proposed Transcript !
Please I seriously need your views about this and I will appreciate if you can look deep into this Transcript .
VO : Why did you choose Tarleton state university

VO :Why do you want masters degree/why this course / why Agricultural science and extension education ?
Me : Its inline with my career goals which has always been to do research, write journal and to become a university professor and a masters in Agricultural science and extension education with a concentration in Plant Breeding is a requirement to pick up a lecturing job at my alma mata and also give me the opportunity to become a consultant where I can give extensional services to agricultural company .

Me: I knew about Tarleton state university when I attended our annual international agricultural conference at Zanzibar in Tanzania last June , where professor Bradt Poe from Tarleton state university was our guest speaker and he spoke about Plant breeding and seed technology and I was really fascinated about it and how huge it will benefit my career. Professor Bradt Poe has massive experience in Plant breeding for good 25 years and still counting and I knew its worth spending millions of naira to study .

@Twood welcome back. I honestly have missed u here TWoods:
The result of your next interview is likely going to be the same. The number 1 criteria to obtaining a non immigrant visa is that you demonstrate that you have ties that compel you to return to your home country. It’s harder for you to demonstrate that since you live and work in a foreign country. You’ve already shown a preference to emigrate.
