Eight-year-old Ifedayo Oluwatombo Temiloluwa suffering from soft tissue sarcoma is pleading with the general public to help him undergo an urgent surgery in India. The surgery, according to Centre for Rehabilitation of Exceptional Persons will cost not less than N2.7m on physical examination excluding the flight tickets and other logistics that might push the bill up by an extra N1m. Ifedayo hails from Ikare Akoko in Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State. According Ifedayo Yusuf, the father of the child, “my son was born on July 28, 2007 and two years after his birth, we started noticing some unusual changes like growth at the right side of his ear. His head was growing abnormally and the growth has recently covered his right ear. “We went for several tests. We were latter directed to the Federal Medical Centre Owoh, after which we proceeded to University College Hospital, (UCH) Ibadan.” In UCH, the doctor’s report obtained and signed by Drs. Olusola-Bello Adeyinka noted that: “The scanograms shows soft tissue swelling in the right auricular region. Serial pre and post contrast axial images show a soft tissue mass in the region of the right pinna extending and infiltrating the external auditory canal and extending laterally and inferiorly and extending posteriorly towards the right occiput with erosion/destruction of the right occipital bone. “The mass is irregular, isodense and shows enhancement post contrast. The anterior portion also shows a ring like hyperdensity. No intracranial extension is noted. The report further concluded: “Appearances suggests a soft tissue neoplastic tissue with bony destruction.” As Ifedayo grows, the growth on his ear enlarges and threatens his life, and would need surgery as fast as the money could come. His parents therefore solicit the kindness of Nigerians of means to handle the challenge as they don’t have the money to foot the bill on their own. At least 20 persons were killed yesterday morning following attacks in Zakupwang, Fan village in Foron district of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State, by unknown gunmen suspected to be herdsmen. The attack was reportedly carried out between 12am and 1am. Piqued by the killings in the state, Governor Simon Lalong has set up a 14-man committee, seven each from the Berom and Fulani communities, to reconcile their differences and provide the ground for lasting peace. Confirming the killings to newsmen, the lawmaker for Barkin-Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Istifanus Gyang, condemned the killings in a statement he signed and made available to newsmen yesterday. He said: “We have received with shock the killing of 20 persons in the early hours of yesterday through violent attacks on seven villages of Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area. “The renewed attacks are least expected at a time when concerted peace efforts and dialogue meetings are ongoing between Berom and Fulani stakeholders.” Gyang, however, appealed to the Berom and Fulani stakeholders not to allow the unfortunate incident to derail the peace effort, noting that to do so would be handing victory to those “who do not want peace and have made blood letting their vocation and daily delight.” He further said that despite this setback, he remained committed to ensuring that Barkin-Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency was rebranded from an axis of violence and bloodshed to one of peace and prosperity. Hon Gyang also called on the Special Task Force (STF) to live up to its upgraded status of providing a safe haven for all communities in his constituency and the state as a whole. https:///TBvZ5kO6Fg

Cholera outbreak in three Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, camps within Maiduguri, Borno State, have left 16 people dead and 172 in critical conditions, with World Health Organization, WHO, and UNICEF battling the epidemic. However, Information Officer of National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Mallam Abdulkadir Ibrahim, in a telephone interview, said it was not an outbreak of cholera, but reported cases of diarrhoea and vomiting. NEMA is the sole agency in charge of feeding the IDPs since inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government. The affected camps are those housing IDPs from Mafa along Dikwa/Ngala Road. The Vanguard reported that so far, 16 people had died of the outbreak, while 172 were in serious condition as they work with international organization to bring the situation under control. One of the health officials working with UNICEF said, yesterday: “The situation at the camps is terrible. It was sudden and already a large number has been affected. “At the last count, we have 16 dead and about 172 affected. We are in an emergency health situation in those camps.” Damage control It was also gathered that the affected IDPs were prevented from leaving the camp by security agents in a move to prevent spread of the disease into the metropolis until the situation is brought under control. Also, those affected have been separated from the unaffected, and all the IDPs are being treated with preventive medicine. Another medical official said: “The camps were unkept, unclean and with all sort of waste all over which informed the outbreak and encouraged its wild-fire spread. “We are doing everything possible to ensure that we control the spread. We encourage the IDPs to ensure cleanliness.” https:///yOFyl9NMa9

Sending an SMS message is so simple and straightforward, you'd think keeping the process secure would be a breeze. Forget the fancy multimedia messages that lead to exploits like Stagefright, how hard could it be to prevent hackers from hijacking tiny packets of text data? And yet, receiving just one fishy (or phishing) text message can scam you and put your phone in great danger. This week's mobile threat, reported by security company MALWAREBYTE, is just the latest example of text-based malware. WHEN A STRANGER TEXTS SMS bot, identified by Malwarebytes as Android/Trojan.Spy.Smsbot.ovk, spreads via SMS phishing, or "smishing," URLs. Smishing URLs are used for nefarious purposes like stealing personal information or implanting malware. SMS bot does the latter, installing a malicious app under a fake Google Play Store icon. After loading a JavaScript file, the malware then connects to a remote server to await further commands. The JavaScript file loads on each new browser instance to ensure constant connection. What makes SMS bot so dangerous is that it doesn't just monitor incoming calls and messages on an infected Android device, it can also interpret that data to perform specific actions without the victim's consent. Say you get a message from your bank. SMS bot and the server it's connected to now know how to contact your bank. The app could secretly send a message requesting your account balance and all of a sudden hackers have collected some of your most sensitive information. And in case that wasn't bad enough, SMS bot can also essentially lock you out of your device by keeping the browser as the active screen and making it impossible to dismiss. That's a trick it borrowed from ransomware, one of the slimiest, and most popular, recent types of malware around. STAYING SAFE Since SMS bot travels through text messages, one of the best ways to avoid it is to not open texts that look strange or come from unfamiliar numbers. Messages that want you to reply with personal information or visit weird links are almost always up to no good. As always, you'll also want to get some kind of security software for your Android device. Fortunately, there are many excellent options to choose from. You could check out Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, or our Editors' Choice award winners Avast! Mobile Security & Antivirus and Bitdefender Mobile Security and Antivirus. Everyone has the right to safely text from the privacy of their own phone. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2491072,00.asp

My views on religion of today.. Religions are like farts. Yours is good, but everyone else's stinks.. In truth, religion is not for the rich, but for the poor to accept their fate and not create an uprising against their oppressors. Wake up!
