People are wiser now....
Definitely many others would still have to learn the hard way.@ Differntial your defense dosent even sound honest.....just my opinion.
naira0:
I have no apologies for towing my line yesterday, as opening an account few minutes after a SEVIS payment query was made smacks of fraudulent tendencies.

The last thing you wanna do is step up to reprimand me here. You don't know me and I bet I won't let you get away with failed face-saving defences.

You [differentials1], remains a prime suspect until proven otherwise.

Oh brother, good luck to you! I hope you get a VO that will be willing to listen to what you have to say!
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 13 by sospunky: 10:31am On Aug 04, 2018
Wow congratulations.......i tap into this testimony.
Your interview and advise is quite educative
Thanks for sharing.

Knight1990:
Interview Yesterday

Brigham Young University Idaho's I-20

Vo: Good morning. Could you pass your documents please?

I: Good morning to you too!(passes documents to vo)

Vo: what are you studying?

I: Agribusiness and Management

Vo: why this course?

I: in my years of working in my father's farm I've come to know the one problem of Agric. In Nigeria; the problem is we are not producing enough. Do you know why sir? (Said this to get his attention). It is because we lack something called "improved crop variety".....I continued......this means that our crops are not high performing crops. Take for instance, the palm kernel tree in Malaysia is as short as I am, but it produces high year in, year out.(he looked up) Meanwhile, the palm kernel tree in Nigeria is as tall as this embassy but produces very low. This is because Nigeria's palm is not an improved variety.

Vo: who is paying?

I: my father and I have a partial scholarship too.....(he looked at my I-20 to confirm my scholarship claim) I quickly added "the I-20 was created before scholarship was awarded that explains why it isn't written there."

Vo: what will this degree do for you?

I: I currently work for my father in his farm, I will still work for him after my schooling; but this time I won't be doing clerical duties, but will be managing the day to day activities of his farm.

Vo: You've travelled outta the country before, I see!

I: Yes, to Ghana.....during my service as a Mormon missionary

Vo: your brother is in the US too?

I: yes!

Vo: same school you're going?

I: No.....different school....and I think I miss him, I added.

Vo: Do you have some documents for me......maybe something to support your scholarship claim and maybe a bank statement?

I: I passed him both documents and he examined both for a few seconds

Vo: why did they give you the scholarship?

I: They were impressed by my 2 years volunteer missionary service. Plus, Agribusiness is not a program people run to----everybody wants to be a Doctor, a Lawyer...etc., but nobody wants to provide food. I want to provide food and they(they school) was really impressed by my choice of Agribusiness and my impressive essays too.

Vo: your visa has been approved. We'll let you know when it's ready! (I gave him a big thumbs up)

I: do have a great day, I said to him, to which he replied you too.

Lessons learned:

Tell them what they haven't heard, or at least, something they don't hear very often.
If possible, use objects to explain your points; Jesus Christ always used object lessons to make his teachings meaningful.

Vary the tone of your voice; If I am probably explaining that the unsolved death of my sibling has inspired me to study criminology, i'd say this with a soft, cry-like tone.

I feel the VO only types the strong points we make, not our entire speech and you’re probably making sense, or driving your points home when he raises his head up. I think at this moment(when he raises his head) you need to hit him with more points that supports your case. Don't stop talking when he raises his head!

Finally, I believe we should never listen to advisers that tells us to "be brief and talk less" when facing a Consul.
Well, i'd rather talk a lot and get denied than be brief and after getting denied wish i'd said more!

After all has been said, truth is, we cannot control other people's actions/decisions. We might say and do all things right during our interview with the Vo but still get denied in the end. Remember, most of the time, it is not your fault. It is his fault too-----he was placed with the option of making a wrong and a right decision, and he made the wrong one by denying you!

Hello, do you have a good sponsor? I'm talkng about beyong having a bank statement for embassy. What I mean here is someone to doll out money to support you. If not, you need to take the GRE test and apply to a better school and also get a scholarship.

It's important for you, but don't know what you think though.
Pls I need more light thrown on this as well..already applied to University of Massachusetts lowel and Florida Atlantic Univeristy,The GRE wasn't required for my course ...should I still write the GRE cos of schorlaship and funding aid??

It's well Sis,
Don't give up...keep going for what you want.you will definitely get it eventually.
Determination is Key.

lonelyhrt:
oh sorry dear you predicted wrongly,i know am a very serious student i had some issues back then in school ranging from finances and lecturers which affected my carrer i had a year i couldn't get back to school i didn't deffer that year i wrote the exams it was carried over as extra school year..

i know am a determined and focused lady situations turned so many things around my life but i feel everything happened for a reason maybe to build me up for greater heights i know going back for another degree in that desired field,i will do so much better in a principled environment i went through alot of emotional trauma/sexual harrasment. yea i still feel pained for such grade but God knows why i know am not dumb my course mates i graduated with in the same department with good cgpa are still looking for jobs which one came one day to my hospital with cv but it happened for me with 3figured pay.

i know if i had atleast 2.5/5 i would be out of the country now but the cgpa has prevented lots from me,but who knows ? The creator knows
why i went through all these
N/B what am i saying? You don't have to conclude on peoples life many things led to all that happened on that cgpa which i think environment influenced it more am a determined lady destined to do exploits.

Ok....so you'll advise me to go with any of them right?

LagosismyHome:
it will be very difficult to take care of 3 kids alone while studying . also based on their ages they cannt be left home alone and school scheduled can be hectic ...that been said i want to clarify one thing

A child in F2 status is allowed to attend up to highschool/secondary school level . meaning if you choose for an F2 dependent child or children to attend public school and for free that is fine and legally allowed .

i am sure about this as i have a couple of friends with kids

Initially, I tried to carry family with me all at the same time but later decided otherwise. I am grateful I did. Studies in the US can be rigorous.

[qquote author=slimmy2005 post=60072434] Take the 13. By right, he/she can go to school and return on his/her own without supervision. If you are hell bent on taking one of them. The public school system is free and they get on the bus as well free.
TWoods:
Your children are about the age when they have to go to school, which means you'll be using public schools which neither you nor your spouse are paying into. Any person with a brain knows this is simply an immigration scheme.

When Iv spent some time there can I invite my husband and kids ??

I really value your opinion on this.
Thank you so much

imperiouxx:
They value families...... may be that's for visiting visa category, I'm not sure. By being truthful I mean the actual reason (a touching one cheesy) you think the kid can't stay with a close relative while you're gone for 2 years. Again, studies in US is rigorous, so coming alone would be much appreciated than with a family member. This is not a visiting visa.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 12 by sospunky: 3:24pm On Sep 02, 2017
Being truthful....like I just want to carry her along...?
And I learnt they value families, is it better to apply with her or alone.
Just want to get your opinion.
Tnx

imperiouxx:
These are grown ups.... which will make it a bit harder. These guys are better off staying with their daddy or grannies while you go to study. Well, the youngest and you must have a cogent reason for bringing him/her along. Don't forget the VOs have seen and heard all kind of excuses. So stay truthful.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 12 by sospunky: 3:08pm On Sep 02, 2017
Ok...tnx for your candid advice...
If I'm to pick btw them I have 13,9 and 5.
Which Should I pick...the oldest or youngest.

imperiouxx:
Studies would be very rigorous when you start, so how do you want to combine this with babysitting 3 kids all alone? I've people with 1 kid but not 3. Think about it.

Good morning Great People...
It's a privilege to be amongst this wealth of information and great minds too.
My question r as follows:
1. I already applied to University of Massachusetts lowel and Florida Atlantic Univeristy without GRE with the help of someone affiliated to both schools. To study renewable energy and biotechnology. My Cgpa is 2.74...wot are my chances of being admitted?
2. I read a lot about GRE and it's benefits of getting schorlaship from schools...should I still write the exam?
I'll appreciate your kind suggestions and even constructive criticism..tnx
