@ dontgiveup1,

I'll suggest you don't apply for visa to the U.K again (at least for now).Otherwise they would only see you as a desperate intending illegal immigrant. Having applied for those number of times between late December 2012 to date.

My opinion though.

Nevertheless, i wish you luck in your endeavours. You can as well try other European Countries for your vacation now. And apply for a U.K visa much later.

Cheers.

veronica151: Hi nairalanders,I tracked my application for the 100th time today and it was available for pick up,my renewal was granted.thanks to everyone
@veronical151, I told you to be patient.

Congratulations on your visa. I think they have decided to be taking their time to verify all documents submitted now, even for renewals.

donlexs: Hello all, I would love your opinion on this issue. My sister applied for a job advert online in the UK and she got it. They sent her an agreement to fill and send to them but they said she will have to get her work permit and foreign affairs certification herself and they will take care of the flight ticket and 50percent of the visa application fee. I was just wondering how does she go about it. I read online that work permits are provided by the employer.
I can tell you without mincing words that your sister is about to be duped by con guys.
A friend almost fell prey to the same thing few years back when he was offered employment by "Emirate Airline".

The whole offered looked too good but, looking critically in-between the line we were able to see some of their flaws. What they do for instance is, use a genuine company, but with different details like address or phone numbers.

They would eventually ask your sister to send some money for their administrative charges in order for them to be able to complete the whole process. THAT IS THEIR ULTIMATE GOAL!

So, just tell your sister to FLEE them.

veronica151: Please I wanted to find out if its adviseable to go to the british deputy high commission, because my renewal is over 3weeks now, what do you think people.
@ Veronica151, there is really no need to panic about your visa renewal. I think the renewal process takes longer these days. They actually wrote it on a board at VFS that you should allow for 15 days for renewal now, unlike the short period (2 days it used to take).

My family applied for renewal on 01/11/2012 and the visas were not approved/issued until 22/11/2012. So just keep tracking on their website or wait till you received a text message from them (if you pai dfor that service though).

osile2012:

Bross thank you, one more thing, my sister stays in Bournemouth, and from what i heard its a remote area, i want to stay in london, while looking for accommodation online, i came across this site airbnb dot com. some offers they had was cool but i dont know if they are real, have you heard of them and can i present an accommodation i booked in that place to the embassy.?

hope to hear from you thanks.
Well, the website is real and popular to tourists. And yes, you can arrange bookings with them for presentation to the embassy.
It seems you are just learning that your sister resides in a "remote" area, and I like to caution you that it is a jeopardy to not have adequate knowledge of the UK, especially the immediate areas that you intend to visit: you need to search the net and learn of the tourist attractions, or at least have plan of activities of the areas that you would be visiting because, you would need to satisfy the Visa Officer in this regard

@osile2012, for your information, Bournemouth is not a remote area. I normally spend most of my vacations in Bournemouth and I can tell you it is not a dull place. Just that it is not as populated as London and the nightlife is not as bubbling as London.

But, if you really want to escape from the hussles in Lagos (which is the essence of vacation), the place is cool.

i have filled the appeal form and addressed every issue that was raised in the notice of decision do. where do i send it? is it to the BHC or do i post it directly to the tribunal in uk. am confused i have 7 days to go

@Prisca1.Why don't you just reapply outrightly instead of the appeal, having done all the necessary corrections?

I could remember earlier this year, my son's visa application was refused based on some errors as a result of the way one clumpsy VFS lady handled the package. Having sent a complaint letter to the British High Commission, we just included what was requested for and reapplied straight instead of appealing, lo and behold, my son's visa came out after just above 5-6 working days.

So, I'll rather you reapply after addressing the issues raised.

My 1 cent though.

Hello guys. I have actually been following this thread for sometime and all I can say is that every contributor has been wonderful.

Please I need some clarification on an issue. I intend to apply for a Masters programme at Dalhousie University but there is a column on the form where the applicant is required to show proof of how the study will be financed.

Is the applicant expected to enclose a bank statement with the supporting documents to be forwarded to the University or how can one show such proof?

I intend to finance it myself though.

@Ebugirl, please I need your input on this having gone through the same process too in the same University

@Everystep87, congratulations on your Visa. However, I would like to let you know that, being granted a visa to any Country IS NEVER the applicant's right irrespective of the documents you submit. May I ask you, why do they still refuse people entry to some countries despite the fact that they possess valid visas?

Being granted a visa does not ultimately qualify an applicant entry into a Country.

I would like to submit by saying, be granted a visa is one of the CONDITIONS to be met before being allowed to enter into a Country and NOT a right like you said.

Congratulations once more!

@Ololo12, there are some missing information here. I don't think you were refused the entry visa the second time because of the fact that you earn N120k/month. We have seen people with even less monthly salaries given visas. The issue here is balance in the statement of account you submitted. What percentage of the balance in ur account do you intend to spend for say a 14day vacation in d Uk?
For instance, it will not be logical if you claim you are spending N450k out of ur savings of N500k for a 2wk trip abroad (what will you fall back on when you return?)

So, it is not about your salary alone. It is about how logical enough you are with ur application.

@Phillipin7, I really don't think vicjustice has ever been rude in any of his postings. The whole essence of the forum is to rub minds and share ideas because no single person has it all.
Though we may have divergent views or understanding about issues, we are supposed to be better for it at the end of the day.

I really think people like vicjustice should be appreaciated and commended for their inputs. Not everybody has the time to contribute even though we may have fair knowlede of visa application.

@Vicjustice, keep the good work going and don't be discouraged
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by SOTAJ: 10:34pm On Jul 04, 2012
@Vicjustice, if I understood Philipin7's posts well,i think she only wants to apply for a family visit visa (Which is the category of visa I have always applied for). Like I said initially, I have had cause to apply for and even renewed my family visit visa without any birth certificate. I want to believe the biodata page of one's passport suffuices for any information required as regards the applicant's age and so on.

Better still,Philipin7 can go to

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/documents/out-of-country/visitors.pdf

for further info as regards the supporting documents required.

Thanks for the good work Vicjustice.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by SOTAJ: 3:01pm On Jul 04, 2012
@Vicjustice, birth certificate is never a must for Uk visa application. I have been to the Uk a couple of times and I cannot remember ever including my birth certificate or that of my wife in our visa application. You only need birth certificate if you are applying for your child. At least I did that for my son.

Thanks a million justwise. I think we will just reapply this coming week cos all logistics are already in place for the trip this Easter (infact, i was about to confirm our ticket booking just told the lady to wait till monday). We will include the marriage certificate and even wedding pictures like you advised. we will even include pictures of the naming ceremony and other pictures to corroborate our proof.

I just thought maybe a one or two paragraph response from the high commission (I hope they would reply my mail anyway) would also be nice if I print and also enclose when reapplying or what do you feel?

Justiwe,

I was just thinking, I hope i get a response to email to the High Commission but if not, should we refer to this initial decision while reapplying next week (iI know there is a column for that) or just be silent?

Then you said we should submit same documents plus the ones not included initially (do we submit the same statements of account too? Considering that it is already over 2 weeks for the initial application)?
Your responses are appreciateed as ever.

You may not get a reply from them, even if you do, it will not change the decision of the ECO.

Yes submit the same bank statement as long as the money is still intact.
This is to say a big thank you to everybody that has contributed in one way or the other to my case.

@ Justwise, you are the man!

I picked my boy's visa yesterday after like 9 working days of reapplying.

As regards the email I sent to the British High Commission about the fact that I did not feel that my son's application was fairly decided, they did reply me the following working day saying the case had been queued up for reconsideration and I would be called when a new decision was made. However, based on the advices that were given to me on this forum and coupled with the fact that time was not really on our side, I just printed the response from the High Commission and enclosed it with all other documents.

I really appreciate everyone on this forum for contributing to the actualization of our Easter trip.

Merci!

1) Letter of Introduction (From my place of work and my wife's stating my boy's name)

2) 6 months payslip (for the 2 of us)

3) Our current visa pages (still valid, 2 years)

4) Statement of account ( the 2 of us)

5) Fixed deposit letters

6) 3 different pictures of the 3 of us

7)Letter of consent

cool Invitation letter /Mortgage/utility

9) Photocopy of his birth certificate (Original sighted by the lady that recieved the package)

I guess the guy did not have any issue with other supporting documents, just that he said he could not establish that we were the real parents. I wonder how else he expected us to proof that (maybe he expected us to enclose DNA result .lol). I did an epistle to the High Commissioner this evening cos i was really pained. I just want to start preparing for the likely outcome pending the response from the high commissioner.

Hello All,

I'd like to use this medium to really commend everybody that has contributed to shedding light on peoples' dark areas on this forum. You guys are really doing great and I'd appreciate if some light is shed on an issue for me as well.

My wife intends to spend her vacation in the UK with our 6 month old boy come April.

The issue here is that both my wife and I have valid visas to the Uk having been there on vacation couple of times, but my boy doesn't.

My question now is, what documents will be required for his own visa application and how do we go about it (ie} can we apply for him alone as an individual?

Your responses will be highly appreciated.

We submitted the application for my boy's visa last week and got a response that the decision was ready, but on getting the parcel today, my boy was refused based on a dummy conclusion by the entry calrance officer that they could not establish the relationship between us and our son even after enclosing all the necessary documents in the application. A photocopy of the birth certificate was also enclosed.
Although I have already written the High Commissioner from my office this evening, Please what do you think should be done next (reapply)?

Justwise you inputb is needed here please, other advices are welcome please

His birth certificate is important, a letter of consent (Very important) from you, marriage certificate, family pictures, evidence of accommodation arrangement suitable for a child and the mother, financial evidence that will meet the cost of the trip. List of places they will be visiting in the UK.

Does your child own a passport? If yes then your wife should attach a photocopy of her visa and data page to the application package.

@Justwise, thank you very much

@ Snowdrops, the waiting time for a visit visa depends on several factors part of which is'' Whether you are a first time applicant for a UK visa or you have been to the UK before''

The docket colour (Red or Black) determines the waiting period, as all first time applications are treated in Abuja while, renewals are handled in Lagos.

Myself and my wife applied for visas last October and we got the visiting visas within 3 working days (submission + collection). We have been to the UK once though.

The way and manner you give advices to people on issues relating to Migrating to Canada is highly commendable.

Please can u shed some more light on the initial fee payment for the Canadian highly skilled Wokers' Visa application (the amount and mode of payment).

Even though we could make an hotel reservation to apply for/renew our visas, we decided to chill till the get what they are processing since we won't be travelling until later in the year.

I dont think you will ever understand the stress and dedication that he put into having the ILR,at this point I would say respect his wishes and wait till he gets what he wants then you can ask him to assist you, just my 2P.
