Twenty-three out of the 24 members of the Kwara State House of Assembly on Wednesday defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party.


Only the member representing Ojomu/Balogun Constituency of Offa Local Government Area, Mr. Saheed Popoola, remains in APC.


The Speaker of the Assembly, Dr. Ali Ahmad, speaking on the floor of the House during the defection, said APC had been “fictionalised.”

The Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo has said that President Muhammadu Buhari will win the 2019 presidential election without the Senate President Dr Bukola Saraki and other defected senates.


Okorocha said this while speaking with newsmen at the party’s national secretariat on Tuesday in Abuja following Saraki’s decision to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC).


He explained that the development would not in any way affect the party electoral victory in 2019 general elections and the party can do without, that saraki was a problem in the party .


Okorocha, who is also the Chairman of the All Progressives Governor’s Forum, spoke after a closed-door meeting with Mr Adams Oshiomhole the party’s National Chairman.

Benue House of Assembly Speaker Terkimbi Ikyange, impeached and then suspended by 19 members at Government House

Members of the Benue House of Assembly were caught in several dramas Friday, with some jumping the high perimeter fence surrounding the Assembly complex and some of them later shifting their parliamentary session to the old Banquet Hall of the Government House, where they decided to suspend the impeached Speaker.

A Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that both the impeached speaker, Terkimbi Ikyange (APC Ushongo)and his successor, Titus Ubah, (APC Kyaan) were at the premises, both laying claim to the speakership.

Gunmen suspected to be hired assassins have killed an All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government Chairman, Mr sunny Ejiagwu.

According to Channels TV, Ejiagwu who was the chairman of Ideato North Local Governement of Imo State, was murdered on Friday morning.

Ejiagwu, popularly known as Ohaneze was one of the 27 LGAs chairmen inaugurated on Monday by the new state chairman, Daniel Nwafor, after the state APC rescheduled election as ordered by the court.

The state commissioner of police, Dasuki Galandanchi, confirmed that the politician was killed along the Akokwa road in the Ideato North LGA .

The CP said, “The APC chairman in Ideato North has been murdered. I was at the scene of the crime and only came back. His corpse has been evacuated to a mortuary.

The anger in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) continued to boil Thursday as Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, said members in the state were tired of the party, hinting that the time had come for them to move elsewhere.

The governor spoke at the party’s stakeholders’ forum in Ilorin, capital of the state, and said there was no more hope for redress in the APC ahead of the 2019 general election.

Ahmed’s complaint reechoed in Abuja with the senator representing Kaduna Central, Senator Shehu Sani, saying the internal revolt in the party was motivated by large scale iniquity and injustice that had bedevilled it for so long.

Sani spoke to journalists at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Wednesday night after a fire-fighting meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari who gathered APC senators for a fence-mending session.

But the effort of the president at pacifying the federal legislators, who are at the forefront of the ongoing revolt, almost hit the rocks Thursday when the party’s National Chairman, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, firmly rejected their demand for automatic ticket as panacea for the gale of defections in two chambers of the National Assembly, contending that the field would be open to everyone to play.

The Vice Chancellor of the Akwa Ibom University, Prof. Eno James Ibanga, has said his university does not give admission to students with tattoos.

The VC, who made the disclosure in an interview with newsmen, said students who intend gaining admission into the university are thoroughly screened before being admitted.

He also said this was to check that they do not belong to cults.

Ibang said over 90 per cent of programmes of the institution have received full accreditation from the National Universities Commission.

Courses on religious studies, mass communication, history and international relations have received interim accreditation from the NUC, he said.

He said the accreditation team from the NUC would visit the institution to complete the accreditation of the remaining three programmes.

He commended the state government for allowing the university enjoy autonomy in spite of the fact that it is state-owned.

The vice chancellor said apart from autonomy, the management of the school enjoys support from the Governing Council and the state government.

Ibanga said: “All faculties except three programmes have full accreditation and the management only admits students within its capacity.

“The university at present has 7,300 students.

“I count myself blessed to be a Vice Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University.

Abidoun James, the founder of the Christ Apostolic Church, Freedom International City parish, Akure in Ondo State, has been arrested for alleged fraud.

James was arrested on Thursday by men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) after defrauding one Mrs. Folasade Olukunini and some other members of his Church.

Awili Pedro, the Commandant of the NSCDC in Ondo State, confirmed the incident while parading the prophet on Thursday.

He told newsmen that the culprit duped Mrs. Olukinni to the tune of N 1.7million with a promise to secure a visa for her son to the United States.

He noted that the “prophet of doom”, who had been into the business of duping people for years, also has his spiritual way of defrauding people who approach him for cleansing.

Some gunmen have attacked a mosque at Kawddi Village in Zamfara State, leaving four persons dead and eight others injured.

According to Channels Television, the incident happened at about 8 pm in Zurmi Local Government Area of the State.

The spokesman for Zamfara State Police Command, Mr Muhammad Shehu, confirmed the incident on Thursday morning.

Another member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly representing Lere/Bula constituency, Honourable Aminu Tukur, late Wednesday dumped his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Addressing journalists, the lawmaker aspiring for Bauchi South senatorial seat in the coming bye-election explained that his decision to quit the party was as a result of the party’s failure to conduct primary election through a direct system that would allow all card-carrying members to vote as promised by the National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

According to him, all aspirants had completed preparation for the exercise but were later, around 5 pm summoned for a meeting at the party’s secretariat where they were informed that the primary election would be conducted by delegates whom he did not trust.

Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Aviation Minister, has alleged that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has killed more Igbo people more than any other government since the civil war.

He raised the allegation while addressing members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Mba, Abia State and was contained in a video he shared via his Twitter page.

Addressing PDP members, the former Minister also accused the Buhari-led Federal Government of enslaving Nigerians and perceived political oppositions.

Nigerian Dancehall singer, Enitimi Alfred Odom, better known as Timaya, has said he would allow his daughter, Emmanuela, to become a stripper as an adult, if it would allow her fulfill her potentials in life.


He also opened up on how he manages to be a parent and a musician simultaneously and his marriage plans.


According to the father of two, he is not yet a husband material.


In an interview with Vibe Magazine, Timaya said: “Fatherhood is life. Anything that is good comes easy. My music is my love and Emma is my life, so we are living it. Sometimes she tells me that “Daddy I don’t like that song, take it off”, and I will be like “why don’t you like it?” I’m trying to grow my kids in the way of love just so that they can be real. One Adekunle Akinsemoyin, 70, has been jailed for demolishing toilet and removing the roof of his tenants’ rooms.

It was gathered that on June 14, 2015, around 6am, Akinsemoyin illegally removed the roofing sheet covering the rooms of his tenants, Wasiu Ramon and Fatai Andoyin, and demolished their toilet.

Akinsemoyin and one Musa Kalamu were arrested and subsequently arraigned on July 7, 2015, before Igbosere Magistrates’ Court on three counts of conspiracy, malicious damage, breach of public peace and unlawful demolition.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The offence committed was said to be punishable under sections 409, 166 (d), 338, Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, was mute on his status in the All Progressives Congress (APC), amid series of defections to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday.

Saraki, who escaped a police cordon to oversee Tuesday plenary, is widely expected to leave the ruling party.

The Senate President read out the names of 15 Senators who had cross-carpeted to the PDP, but remained silent on his position.


Saraki is now the only Senator from Kwara state still officially under the APC.

Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has reacted to the invasion of the residences of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.

The Police on Tuesday morning blocked the Senate President, Bukola Saraki’s convoy at Lake Chad junction in Abuja.

Saraki was reportedly on his way to report to the police headquarters after he was invited for questioning by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris over Offa bank robbery when the incident happened.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has revealed what Adams Oshiomhole, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress was brought in to do to the ruling party.

PDP alleged that the former Edo State Governor was brought in as an undertaker to finally bury APC.

Spokesperson of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan made the claim on his official Twitter handle.

The United Church of Christ in Nations, HEKAN, has condemned in totality the recent killings of innocent citizens by suspected Fulani militia in Barkin Ladi, Riyom and Jos South Local Government Areas of Plateau state and Dowaya and Bare communities of Numan local government of Adamawa State.

In a press statement signed by the President of the Church, Reverend Amos G. Kiri, HEKAN said that the killings were senseless and inhuman.

Reverend Amos Kiri called on President Muhammadu Buhari to overhaul the nation’s security chiefs for their inability to adequately curtail gruesome murder that has been going on in many parts of the country.

He noted, “The Federal Government must step up security measures in order to end the wanton killings of innocent citizens and destruction of property across the country.”

The Church condemned the statement credited to Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAC, that the attack was retaliation for the killing of cattle.

The immediate past Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Timi Frank has dragged President Muhammadu Buhari to the United Nations, UN, for allegedly aiding the activities of Fulani herdsmen in the country.

In a letter he forwarded to the UN and made available to the reporter on Thursday, Frank said that President Buhari was supporting the killers by consistently defending them as people who merely carry sticks and machetes.

The APC chieftain told the body that it had been confirmed that Fulani militants were usually armed with sophisticated weapons and often attack their victims when they are most vulnerable, such as midnight, during church services and burial ceremonies.

She was nabbed with a bunch of master keys while trying them on the door of a house in Magodo in Lagos.

Akilapa, who assumed the occupants had gone to work, was stunned as the occupants grabbed her when she entered their apartment.

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has described the killings in Plateau State as evil, barbaric, inhuman and ethnic cleansing of the people of the Middle Belt.

Reacting to the killing of over 100 people by men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on Sunday, the leader of MASSOB, Comrade Uchenna Madu, said the people were killed because they were Christians.

The group said the killings were targeted at eliminating Christians in the Middle Belt to pave way for Muslims to dominate the area.

The group’s statement said, “MASSOB wishes to condemn the killing of the citizens of Plateau state by a world confirmed terrorist group called herdsmen. It is so evil, barbaric and inhuman to kill these innocent unarmed citizens because they are Christians who do not share the same religious faith with the killer herdsmen.

A 41-year-old suspect, identified as ‘Pastor’ Fidelis Nelson (aka MP), and leader of dare-devil robbery gang operating within Lagos and Ogun states, has revealed that he went into robbery to raise money to build his church and to become a general overseer.

The self-styled pastor, who masterminded several robbery operations, noted that he and members of his gang carried out three robbery operations recently and “actually snatched three cars last month.”

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, the nation’s capital, has on Monday, granted bail to four pro-Biafra agitators- Bright Chimezie, Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi.

Troops of 301 Artillery Regiment (General Support) have arrested 2 suspected Boko Haram fuel suppliers in Nafada, Gombe State.

The 2 suspects are one Mohammed Adamu Zika, a driver and Bukar Adamu Haji, an assistant station manager in one of the fuel stations in Gombe State while another accomplice is at large.

Brigadier General, Director Army Public Relations, Texas Chukwu, in a statement on Monday, said efforts to get him arrested has been intensified by the troops.

“The two suspects are currently undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate authority for prosecution”, the statement added.

The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has identified the administration of his immediate predecessor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim as the most hated and devalued of all the past governments in the state.

Governor Okorocha said that ever since the former governor made public his intention to re-contest the governorship position in the state, he (Ohakim) has chosen to attack him in the media day in day out.

The governor made the claim through his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, who averred that he has chosen to ignore his verbal attacks for personal reasons.

A landlady and her married tenant got stuck while having sex in a hotel room on Friday, 8 June, 2018, in Kitale town, Kenya

The two locked themselves up in a room at Baraka Hotel and soon after, they were heard shouting while begging for help.



The wife had earlier informed the police that she noted her landlady normally disappears every time her husband went to Kitale for business appointments and she suspected there was a thing between the two.

The Sokoto State Police Command on Monday confirmed eight deaths in a clash that ensued between armed bandits and local vigilante members in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Cordelia Nwawe, told newsmen that at least eight persons were feared dead during the fracas, including an elderly person who the bandits went to kidnap.

Nwawe said investigation was still ongoing, adding that the bandits were said to have come from neighbouring communities in Zamfara.

Governor Samuel Ortom has stated that no matter how long it takes, ranching will eventually be accepted by the people of Nigeria.

He spoke on Monday in Naka, Gwer West Local Government Area during the traditional marriage between his friend, Architect Asema Achado and Princess Freda Nguamo Damna.

Governor Ortom also noted that Benue’s position on the matter was being vindicated daily.


He cited resolutions of the Northern and Southern Governor’s fora, National Economic Council as well as the most recent enactment of the law by the Abia State Government as indications that ranching was inevitable in the 21st century.
