United States President, Donald Trump on Monday stirred controversy online after he referred to President Muhammadu Buhari as ‘Lifeless’





Trump made the statement shortly after a meeting between the two leaders on April 30, Financial Times reported on Monday.



Buhari, the first sub-Saharan Africa president to meet Trump since he was sworn in January 2017 as the 45th American president, was in the US for bilateral talks on Trump’s invitation.





The meeting, according to the Newspaper, ended with Trump saying he never wanted to meet someone as lifeless as Buhari again.

Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha on Thursday described the defection of some governors of the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party as painful.

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University(OAU) Ile Ife, on Wednesday, announced the suspension of six students of the institution, for alleged involvement in cultism.





According to a release by the Registrar of the university, Mrs Magaret Omosule, which was obtained by Thevicknews.com, the students were said to have confirmed their membership of a secret cult in the course of police investigation.

Taiwo Akinola, 29, was on Sunday arrested for allegedly attempting to murder his mother, Mrs Alice Iyabo Akinola, for a money-making ritual.


Taiwo was arrested after his nephew, Faruk, raised an alarm upon seeing his grandmother covered in blood in their home at No.2 Raji Ajanaku street, Alaja Road, Ayobo, Lagos.

According to a press statement made available by the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, the incident happened on Sunday.


The statement revealed that Taiwo, who is believed to be a cultist had wanted to take his internet fraud business to an advanced level, known as “yahoo plus” and killing his mother would have helped him achieve that.

Witnesses said 19 bodies were counted but an aid worker at a camp that received survivors put the death toll at 63.

Boko Haram fighters have killed more than a dozen people in an attack on a village in northeast Nigeria's Borno state, witnesses say.

Abatcha Umar, a survivor, told Reuters news agency that at least 19 people were killed when the armed group stormed Malari village at around 2am on Sunday.

Umar said he counted 19 bodies, including that of his younger brother, after the attack.

However, an aid worker at a camp that received the survivors, and who declined to be identified, put the death toll at 63.

Hundreds of people from villages in the area have fled to the camp for displaced people in the garrison town of Monguno in Borno state, the aid worker said.

All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart Asiwaju Bola Tinubu yesterday spoke on the defection of some chieftains from the ruling party to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).



He said the defectors, including Senate President Bukola Saraki and Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, left the APC because they wanted automatic tickets and “the sharing of the national wealth”, which the party could not guarantee.





Tinubu said those anticipating the decline of the APC on account of the defections will soon be disappointed by their inaccurate predictions, adding that the days and months ahead will reveal that the forecasts were premised on bitterness and not on objective analyses.



In his view, the debate on the current historic national transition should not be reduced to narrow and cunning electoral calculations based on which party maintains the majority in the National Assembly. Nigerians are more concerned about the quality of governance, Tinubu said.

Rev. Chris Okotie, ex-presidential candidate and founder of the House of God International Ministry, has said the gale of defection blowing across the country portends good tidings for the nation.

The Lagos State Government on Thursday decried a report alleging that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was making moves against non-indigenes, especially the Igbos in the state.



Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Kehinde Bamigbetan, in a statement, described the report as “baseless, mischievous and irresponsible”.



Bamigbetan said the claims were nothing, but absolute falsehood and a mere figment of the imagination of “unscrupulous persons” who concocted it.



According to him, the report had alleged that the governor had outlawed the position of Eze Ndi-Igbo in Lagos and was making other moves against non-indigenes.

A driver, Abuchi Okpara, has been arrested by the police for allegedly hitting an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Ogunmeru Obafemi, in the Igando area of Lagos State.

Okpara, who allegedly fled to Ghana after the incident, was apprehended by his boss, the General Manager of King Solomon Chariots Transportation, Johnson Ogbonnaya.

A statement on Tuesday by the LASTMA Public Affairs Officer, Mahmud Hassan, said Ogbonnaya went to Ghana to bring down the suspect to face justice.

The Kano State Police Command have issued an expressed warning against a planned protest in favour of the Senate President Bukola Saraki in the state.

A audio-disc sent to broadcast media houses in the state by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Magaji Musa Majia, warned that the police would arrest any such pro–Saraki supporters or anybody that takes to the streets for the intended protest in the state.

The police command described the planned protest as ‘illegal’, adding that the command was yet to be officially notified by any group, individuals or any security agency about any protest, thereby making the proposed demonstration an illegality.

The tape said, “Kano State Police Command are warning the general public against the planned solidarity protest in support of the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki.

“The Kano State Police Command did not receive any letter seeking for the permission to engage in any protest….. this protest is therefore illegal “ the tape said.


“Accordingly, the Command is warning those planning to stage the protest to halt their plan. However, if they fail to halt their plans or to adhere to this warming, the Police would have no option but to arrest and prosecute them” he added.

The statement advised parents and guardians in the state to always counsel their children against being used by the members of the political class.

Junaid Mohammed, Second Republic lawmaker, on Tuesday, lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari over the tensed political atmosphere in the country.

Mohammed, in a chat with Thevicknews, described Buhari as a political and an economic illiterate, who lacks the capacity to manage the affairs of the country.

While claiming that Buhari was sick, incompetent and dishonest, he warned that the country was on the verge of implosion.

The Akwa Ibom State Government has raised the alarm that the activities of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), if not checked would scare away foreign investors from Nigeria.





Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Charles Udoh, who stated this when he spoke with newsmen in Uyo, yesterday, said, “if the EFCC witch-hunt is allowed to continue, it would work against the growth of the nation.”

Sen. Godswill Akpabio (APC-Akwa Ibom) said any move to declare his seat vacant in the Senate will prove abortive as it would trigger a domino effect.



Akpabio, who is a lawyer, made this known in an interview with newsmen in Abuja on Monday.



He said though he has not heard about it, if his seat must be declared vacant, the seats of those, who defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), should also be declared vacant. Senate President Bukola Saraki led a dozen senators of the APC to join the PDP in July.



According to him, if the excuse of those calling for his seat to be declared vacant is that there is no rancour in PDP to warrant his defection, they should also know there is no rancour in APC.

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has terminated the appointment of the Director General of DSS, Lawal Daura over invasion of the National Assembly earlier today.

Osinbajo on Tuesday summoned the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and the Director-General of the Department of State Security, Daura at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Following the meeting, Mr. Daura has been directed to hand over to the most senior officer of the State Security Service until further notice.

It was gathered that the two security chiefs, who arrived Aso Rock at different times, were to update the acting president on security developments including the blockade of the National Assembly by security officials.

This is the moment a man who claimed to be a pastor, got severely disgraced after he was reportedly caught stealing a goat at Akukwa village in Igboukwu Town, Anambra state.

A video making the rounds on the internet has shown the man being embarrassed. In the video, the man who was seriously beaten and tied up along with the stolen animal identified himself as pastor Chinedu Michael from Orifite area of the state.
