Glory to God for the lives of the innocent and moderate Iranians. The jihadist hardliners wanted to destroy their civilization out of their own selfishness and suicide inclinations. |
America troop is coming nowhere near Nigeria. Since you guys see this as a good opportunity for regime change, Tinubu has outsmarted you guys. He will give Trump what he wants and Trump in turn will give you guys the middle finger. Since you guys don’t care about the country, Mr. President should mortgage the resources and interest of the country to Donald Trump. Last last, na the country go suffer. [If mortgaging our resources will ensure the safety of christians in Nigeria, so be it. After all, the resources are usually embezzled and the proceeds are being channelled into terrorism.] |

[When you keep using the military to rig election and intimidate and even kill your opponents, you see it as normal until the same military turn on you and then you start crying impunity when you are the architect.]All these rubbish can only be found in a country like ours, how can a military have the mind set that one soldiers life is worth more than the lives of 100 civilians they swore to protect.the military too can report to appropriate channels too since the land dispute started but people keep blaming wike for doing his job.so cos I was a CNS gives me audacity and right to encroach on any land?. In sane countries I have never see the military actively amongst civilians as if we are in military regime where you see soldiers every where. A retired CNS now still deploys men of the Nigerian army at will,I’m not sure the CDS was even aware of it. Wike has his fault but the military shouldn’t have been there in the first instance Some ignorant people will be shouting wike is grabbing land, the land he didn’t grab as a governor of his state then he will be grabbing as a minister of the FCT,after he grabs all the land then another FCt minister will come and revoke everything.we need some common sense abeg People applaud the soldier for standing against wike forgetting that a soldier that can’t stop internal aggression can never defend external invasion.
|
We the christians in Nigeria especially the south-south fully welcome the intervention of the US government's military intervention as the present Nigeria's flawed and Islamic controlled government institutions cannot allow the ascension of purposeful leadership at the center |
GENERAL CECIL ESEKHAIGBE ON THE EDO STATE "MURDER" OF NORTHERN "HUNTERS" In as much as I'm against extrajudicial killings as witnessed yesterday in Uromi, Edo State, which I condemned in the strongest possible term, the whole story must be told holistically. Retired General Cecil Esekhaigbe on Channel Television station this evening corroborated what an eyewitnesses account said of the incident yesterday. The General said based on an intel that seasoned kidnappers are being haul back to the north, the vigilante mounted the road, searching all northern bounds vehicles for which Dangote trucks were some of them. In an attempt to search this particular truck, one of the Fulani chap, obviously a radical Fulani terrorist drew a knife and stabbed one of the vigilante. Seeing him in his pool of blood, the rest and the youths descended of them and the rest is history. What General Esekhaigbe didn't say was the bundles of raw cash running into several millions of naira found on them, suspected to be cash from ransom collections from their victims, apart from dangerous weapons, including assault riffles and AK47. The consciousness of the vigilante group stems from the fact that Edo State has been under siege in the last few months, having recorded over 200 deaths araising from Fulani terrorist attacks across the state. I read comments from people like @Auwal H. Mohammad, threatening northern revenge for the killings of these terrorists in Edo who he described as hunters. He also said southerners are doing businesses in the north, unchallenged. Obviously, Auwal knows better the mission of Fulani herders/terrorists in southern Nigeria. It certainly can't be hunting as he claimed. He also knows that southerners in the north are not into hunting in the north. If the Fulani invasion it's purely for hunting, then they should be restricted to the northern bushes like sambisa forest and other parts of the northern region. Auwal is one of the pretentious northerners who often mount the press that the killers herders are not Nigerian Fulani, but when one of them falls victim of their own crime, they'll rush to their defense. Early last month, my dearly beloved friend, Mr. Peter Ogedengbe was slaughtered on his farmland in Erha, Owan West Local Government of Edo State, after harvesting his cassava and feeding them to their cattle. There are other several incidence(s) in Ovia-North East and South West, Etsako East, Akoko-edo, and the two Owan local government areas, where Fulani herders/terrorists Slaughtered mothers and children in numbers and no one shouted revenge in the manner in which Auwal is screaming blue murder. In Edo State more than 25 communities have been sacked by Fulani terrorists who daily graze their cattle over people's crops and whoever challenged such brazen act impulsively meets his untimely death on the spot. Nigeria’s security woes speaks to the heart of the issues I have relentlessly interrogated over the last few years: the total collapse of security architecture is at the heart of it, coupled with government's romanticization with terrorism. Until President Bola Ahmed Tinubu act fast, the disintegration of Nigeria will be quickened by the counter attacks in response to terrorists attacks in southern Nigeria. CREDIT: GEN. CECIL ESEKHAIGBE (RTD)[.] |
In the northern part of the country, Muslims ca. The usual heavy vehicular traffic going to the Eid praying grounds to observe Sallah prayers were absent this year as only few people could afford to drive their vehicles around town. Similarly, very few people were able to buy new clothes or even cook good food for their families for the celebration. The usual presentation of Sallah gifts (popularly known as goron Sallah) to loved ones had also reduced drastically. A resident of Gusau town, Mainasara Mohammed, told The PUNCH that he did not buy new clothes for his wives and children due to the economic predicament. He admitted that it was the first time that he would deny his children new dresses during Sallah celebrations. “For the first time in my life, I could not buy new clothes for my family,” Mohammed lamented. Also, Senator Lawal Usman, representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, enjoined all faithful in his constituency, Kaduna and all over Nigeria to use the occasion of the Sallah to pray for an end to the perennial insecurity, hardship, and economic challenges confronting the country. “I urge all Muslims to use this occasion to pray for peace, security, and prosperity in our country. We must come together to pray for an end to the challenges facing us as a nation,” Usman said. However, the economic challenges facing the country made it difficult for many Muslims to celebrate the festival with the usual fanfare. “Last year’s celebrations were more elaborate; this year, many Muslims have had to scale down their celebrations due to the economic challenges. However, we remain grateful to Allah for the blessings we have received,” Malam Abdullahi, a resident of Kaduna, told The PUNCH. Despite the challenges, Muslim groups in the state have emphasised the importance of peaceful coexistence, love, justice, fairness, equity, peaceful coexistence with others, tolerance, honesty, and dedication to duty. “As Muslims, we must continue to uphold the values of compassion, kindness, and generosity. We must also strive to promote peace, understanding, and harmony in our communities,” Sheikh Abdulwahab Abdulkadir, an Islamic scholar in Kaduna, stated. The Gombe State Chairman of the Coalition of Northern Groups, Mohammed Deba, said there was no visible difference between this year’s Ramadan and last year’s. He said, “This is the same as last year (2024). This is because of the situation on ground. Since this government emerged, no human development and everything remained the same. The level of poverty has remained unabated. However, many are getting used to the hardship already.” In Sokoto, a Muslim group named Liberty Progressive Association commended Muslims in the state for peaceful conduct during the celebration. The group, made up of young Muslim professionals in the state, said despite the hardship, the celebrators enjoyed a peaceful Eid-el-Fitr. The chairman of the group, Mallam Jamiu Afolabi, said, “This year’s celebration was okay even though there was no money, but residents of the state were able to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner. “Compare this to some years back, when things were bad, with many accidents recorded, but thank God it was fine this year. “We also commend the state government for making things easier with the prompt payment of salary in addition to the numerous support given to workers during the Ramadan period.” Residents of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, witnessed a calm and relaxed atmosphere during the celebration. Some residents who spoke with The PUNCH in Maiduguri said that while the security situation had significantly improved, the economic situation remained the only barrier to the Sallah celebrations in this state. “Just like everywhere, Borno is calm this period. Though we had a memorable Sallah celebration, but you can’t compare it with previous years,” a resident, Kida Abdulsalam, said. “It has been about cutting cost. However, I must commend the security agencies for the peace we are currently enjoying.” Similarly, Hassan Fatima, another resident, noted that families struggled to make ends meet. “In this period, who spends anyhow? They prioritise food and what children will wear. Thank God we were not shamed. The Aallah came at a time when the economy is biting everyone hard, food prices are at an all-time high,” she said Major roads across Osun State on Monday experienced light traffic as residents observed the Eid-el-Fitri holidays with their loved ones in the state. Many hitherto busy routes, especially within Osogbo, the state capital, experienced light traffic, while a similar situation also played out in other major roads across the state. In Ota Efun and Igbona markets, both located within the Osogbo metropolis, many shops did not open for business. Our correspondent, who observed traffic situation in Ota-Efun-Igbona route, Olaiya-Oke Baale route, Gbongan/Osogbo road and Oke Fia-Dele Yes Sir area, noted that few mini-buses that were operational contended with a reduced number of commuters. A mini-bus operator, who identified himself simply as Peter, said the economic situation in the country played a major role in the fewer number of commuters on the road. “Many people preferred to stay at home and celebrate Eid with their loved ones instead of going around paying visits to people in far places. The cost of living and transportation is high and people don’t have that excess money to throw around. “Also, the harsh weather played a part too. Because of the heat, many people stayed indoors during the day time and choose to go out when it is evening time. Many bus operators are not working due to low patronage,” Peter said. Also, while giving traffic report across the state in a statement obtained in Osogbo on Monday, Osun Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Adeyemi Shokunbi, said major routes in the state experienced limited traffic during the Eid holiday. Shokunbi stated, “Osogbo-Sekona route, light traffic, Osogbo-Ikirun route, light traffic, Osogbo-Ilesa road, light traffic, Ilesa-Akure road, low traffic, Ilesa-Ife route, low traffic, Iwo-Ejigbo-Osogbo road, light traffic, Ibadan-Ife expressway, light traffic and Ikirun-Ilaodo road, light traffic.” However, Muslims in Oyo and Ogun states told The PUNCH they had a memorable celebration on Sunday. Chairman of the Muslim Community of Oyo State, Kunle Sanni, said Muslims in the state were not affected by the present economic realities and rather ate and drank to their satisfaction during this year’s Eid-el-Fitr. He said this was made possible as Muslims heeded the message to be their brother’s keeper, ensuring that their neighbours were not hungry. Speaking with The PUNCH, Sanni said the magnanimity of rich Muslims, political office holders who are Muslims and the Federal Government also helped ensure that they had a memorable celebration. “One would have thought things would be very difficult for Muslims, but it was the other way round. We constantly passed the message that Muslims should be their brother’s keeper, and they heeded it. They took the admonition this year to heart. “We said that a Muslim should not feel well when others are hungry. We told them that if every Nigerian takes care of their neighbours, no one will be hungry. This year, Muslims had more than enough to eat. “Politicians, especially our Senators and House of Representatives members, also supported with food items. The Federal Government as well as rich Muslims also provided bags of rice and other food items which were distributed across the 33 local government areas of the state,” Sanni said. He added, “We also enjoyed divine intervention as the prices of food items came down before the celebration. So, we had a good celebration this year, even better than last year,” Sanni added. Similarly, Chief Imam of Albarka Islamic Society of Nigeria, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Dr Mutiu Agboke, said Muslims trooped out enmasse and had a joyous celebration. “The celebration went well as many Muslims trooped out to celebrate with their families and they enjoyed themselves. Muslims went to various parks to enjoy themselves. Some visited friends and well-wishers to share the joy of the celebration together,” Agboke said. In Lagos, some traders endured low patronage as Muslims had a quiet celebration. “Even though this isn’t the big Sallah, the sales were just too low for those of us selling clothes. In time past, we made huge sales as families came shopping but this year we hardly had people who bought clothes. Personally, I never had it so bad,” a trader in Yaba market, Chuks, told The PUNCH. A food seller in Oja-Oba, Abule Egba, Rose Aigbe, added, “It was business as usual, we didn’t make as much as we used to during festive periods. We all know the economy is biting hard on all Nigerians.” It was same story at the Sunday Market in Ogba, where a fish seller, who identified herself simply as Mariam, said, “I stocked my freezers ahead of the celebration but only few customers came out to buy fish.” Meanwhile, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party blamed the ruling All Progressives Congress for the hardship in the land. In a statement, PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba, said, “The PDP is deeply disturbed that while citizens of other countries are celebrating the Eid-el-Fitr in plenty, Nigerians are dampened in spirit due to the unbearable hardship occasioned by the misrule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration which has worsened in the last two years. “Our party urges Nigerians, especially those in leadership positions at all levels, to re-dedicate themselves to the path of selfless service guided by love, truth, fairness, honesty and impartiality in all their activities and put away acts of corruption, arrogance, manipulation and insensitivity to the plight of the people. “Indeed, the Eid-el-Fitr offers us as a nation and humanity the divine portal to redeem our nation by standing up for justice, strict adherence to the Rule of Law and accountability in the polity.” Source: https://punchng.com/Eid-el-Fitr-Low-key-celebrations-as-Nigerians-lament-hardship
|

It's no longer news that the Nigeria military is presently operating in Okuama community in south-south Nigeria. The disturbing news, however emanating from the region, is modus operandi of the Nigeria military, and this has led to the following observations. I don't expect this piece to hit front page. 1.DEEP SITTED HATRED: From the manner with which the military is razing the communities "associated" with the death of the soldiers, one would think Nigeria is at war with the region. The Nigeria government, under the leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu has deliberately prevented every form investigation into the actual cause of the death of the "gallant" soldiers. They did not even allow the state governor to visit the communities and get a first hand information of what actually happened and what is presently taking place there. Even when a senator representing the region asked for a minute silence for the innocents he was shouted down. If not HATRED, how best do you describe such behaviors towards a people. 2.ENVY AND JEALOUSY: From the comments here on this forum, coming from the northern and the southwestern part of this country, expressing their wish for the region, one doesn't need a crystal ball to see the level of jealousy and envy they have towards the south-southerners. Everyone from the south-south, whether Ijaw, Urhobo, Edo, Ibibio, etc, must take notes of these happenings for posterity's sake. 3. PERPETUAL SUBJUGATION: There's a grand scheme by the northerners and the southwesterners to perpetually subjugate the people of the south-south so as to continually plonder their resources, that's why the Nigeria state always employ the show of brute force whenever there's a fracas in the region in order to intimidate and suppress the people into submission. Only time will tell how long this methods will work. 4. CREATE DIVISION AMONG THE PEOPLE: Owing to the fact that the northerners and the southwesterners see the south-south as their cash cow, in order to have unfiltered access to their resources, they deliberately look out for sellouts who can be used to create division in the region and give this individual mouthwatering offers that ensure the continuity of their sinister agendas. THE WAY FORWARD. 1. ENCOURAGE OUR YOUTHS TO MASSIVELY JOIN THE MILITARY: Our youths in the south-south must be encouraged to join the military. State governors must see to it that the slot given to the region is completely utilized by indigenes of the states making up the region. This can be achieved by creating a special fund, aside the federal government salaries, for military personnel of the region. This will make the military attractive, and in the future, it will prevent any form of repressive tendencies being presently experienced in the south-south and southeast from the Nigeria military, as there will be many opposing voices within the military as being usually seen when similar events occur in the north. 2. DELIBERATE SUPPORT FOR OUR POLITICAL AND RELIGIOUS LEADERS. Any of political leader who champions the interest of our region must be supported irrespective of whatever political party he belongs. For the selfish ones among us, we should not destroy them in public, we should rather device ways of using their selfishness to our advantage. The strong men in our region should never again be handed to the government to be prosecuted for whatever "crime" they may have allegedly commit. We must protect them at all cost, after all, it's our money that was "stolen" . 3. OUR FIRST ALLEGIANCE MUST BE TO OUR GEOPOLITICAL ZONE: Former governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, once said, "Yoruba comes first, thereafter, Nigeria". This is the same mindset of the northerners. Our political, religious and traditional leaders must ensure that their first allegiance must be to our region. Our men in the military and police must use their heads whenever they are deployed to intimidate and manhandle their own people. A word is enough for the wise. 4. POLITICAL AND MILITARY ALLIANCE: The people of the south-south must forge a very strong military alliance with the people of the southeast as they share a common enemy. After all, these two regions have a lot of similarities in terms of culture, religion and political ideologies, and they've equally experienced the same brutality from the northerners and southwesterners. They must deliberately reorientate their minds towards the Igbos by eschewing the age-long propaganda and gaslighting, that the Igbos are not to be trusted. Time and again, has proven that the Igbos are trustworthy. They have never for ones betray the people of the south-south, and a military alliance with them will send a very strong message to the common foes. 5. SUPPORT OUR CHRISTIAN LEADERS: The people of south-south should without hesitation desist from attending churches headed by the southwesterners and northerners and start attending our own churches. One thing I have noticed is that the southwesterners only attach importance to our financial contribution to growth of churches headed by them. They don't care about the growth of the people of the south-south. A typical example is the protest staged against former President Goodluck Jonathan which was led by a prominent southwesterner. None of their religious(church) leaders has ever criticize this government policies, not even the renowned Daddy G.O. has even express some level of sympathy towards the innocent people of Okuama, some of which are his "children in the Lord". Everyone in the south-south should wakeup from their slumber. Any means by which you can spread this message should be done without delay. 6. OUR INTELLECTUALS AND ACADEMIA MUST DEVELOP DEFENSIVE MECHANISM FOR THE REGION: Scientists that are of the south-south extraction, home and in diaspora, must start bringing their expertise to bare in advancing the development of the region militarily and otherwise. There are many islands and remote places where defense factory can be sited clandestinely. Israel is a powerful nation not because they're populated, but as a result of their defense capabilities even when they dwell in midst of deadly enemies. This is where the military alliance between the south-south and the southeast matters most. Please, spread this message, our collective survival strongly depends on this. 7. ESCHEW OUR NEGATIVE DIFFERENCES: The south-south region consists of several ethnic group and diversities. Like the Americans, we should use these diversities to our advantage. The Ijaws, Urhobos, Binis, Esans, Etsakos, Ikweres, Itsekiris, Ibibio, Efik, etc must promote unity amongst us and never allow outsiders to turn us against ourselves. We must deliberately eschew communal clashes. Disagreement between ourselves must never degenerate to violence. When brothers fight to the death strangers loot their wealth. This is what the military is presently doing in the south-south. The piece continues.. |

No one needs a seer to understand what Nigerians are presently going through. The situation is affecting every section of the country, irrespective of tribe, religion and ethnicity. And if you're expecting BAT's administration to fix things you will be disappointed. PBAT may want to ameliorate the situation, but no meaningful change will be observed. I repeat no meaningful change will be obversed. This is not because l hate PBAT or because I'm a pessimist, it's simply because I understand his ideas and philosophies. BAT is an oligarch, an elitist in idea; that's why he's been creating strong men over the years. What Nigerians need are strong institutions and people like BAT don't create strong institutions. Strong institutions will obviously undermine their influence and weaken their hold on the people. Oligarchy or elitism is the system of government the Hausa-Fulanis practice, and interestingly, this is what most Islamic countries practice. This is one of the reasons why BAT enjoyed the support of the likes of Elrufai, Ganduje, etc. They have similar mindsets, that is, government of the wealthy and powerful few controlling the populace. Yorubas who are open minded will concur to this observation. Unfortunately, this elitism will continue unless the Igbo and South-southerners form a formidable alliance through the following: 1. MARRIAGE: Trust between different ethnic groups are usually established through marriages, as no one will deliberately want to harm his/her in-laws. This is exactly what the Hausa-Fulanis and the Yorubas do. In this regard, the young men of the Igbo extraction must intentionally prevail on their elders and kinsmen to drastically reduce the cost of marrying an Igbo bride so as encourage suitors from Ijaws, Urhobos, Benins and other ethnic groups that make up the south-south region to seek the hand of the Igbo maidens in marriage. This will go a long way in fostering cohesion between the southeast and the south-south. 2.ABOLISH THE NAME, BIAFRA: If the unity of the southeasterns and South-southerners is to be consolidated the "Biafra" tag must be discarded, especially, with regards to the violence taking place in the southeast region. No genuine South-southerners want to be freed from the hegemony of the Yoruba/Hausa-Fulanis only to be shackled by another ethnic jingoist. This is why most people from the south-south are usually on the fence when the Igbos are agitating for freedom and inclusiveness. To this end, an acronym that incorporates the initials of every ethnic group that makes up the two regions must be adopted as the name of the geographical entity. This is so important, as the name BIAFRA is one of the propaganda tool with which the core northerners and the Yorubas always use in driving wedge in between Igbos and the South-southerners. This was what they used against Peter Obi in the middle belt, but failed to achieve the south-south region. 3. SIGNED MOU: There must be a well documented and signed agreement with regards to power and resource allocation. This document must ensure egalitarianism and total federalism. Criminals must be treated as criminals irrespective of tribe and religion. If this can be achieved, the subregions will be competing with the UAE in the next ten years. 4. Hmmm.. |
