InvestmentRe: Interest Rate On Fixed Deposit Accounts In Nigeria by sperrysun(m): 5:09pm On Dec 15, 2009
The Diamond High Interest Deposit Account (HIDA) is an account designed for our premium customers who can maintain a minimum balance of N100,000, whilst still allowing you easy access to your money wherever and whenever you want it.

If you plan to save a large sum of money for a longer term and want to maximize the interest earned, look no further than our Diamond High Interest Deposit Account (HIDA). As long as you have a minimum of N100, 000 or more, you will be able to enjoy tiered interest rate ranging from 8% to 10% per annum, meaning the larger the balance, the higher the interest rate and this is paid monthly.(http://www.diamondbank.com/component/content/182.html?task=view)

@SUNBOY, The DIAMOND BANK HIDA offers 8-10% per annum, but is payable monthly. So its not 8-10% monthly. Just wanted to correct that.
EducationAfter 8 Years, Sacked Unilorin Lecturers Reinstated! by sperrysun(op): 9:15pm On Dec 11, 2009
The Supreme Court of Nigeria has ruled that the 44 Unilorin Lecturers who were sacked under controversial circumstances more than eight years ago be reinstated with immediate effect. The lecturers would also receive their salaries and bonuses would be paid in arrears.

Sadly, though four of the lecturers died while waiting for this judgement, and the family would be paid their salaries up until the time they died.

This is good news! Well done The Supreme Court! I salute the gtenacity of these lecturers who persevered to get justice that they so richly deserve. I wish though that the VC who carried out the now illegal sack should be cautioned somehow. What do u think?

@becomrich

Your written English is at best apologetic and at worst HORRENDOUS!! Where did you spring from? Jeez!! Why don't you just shut your trap before you start spewing trash. What makes an obvious illiterate like you a master military planner and strategist? You are feeling like Alexander the Great,abi? Take over Nigeria in 6 Hours indeed! Why don't you go and take over an Elementary school spelling and grammar book first? It would help you, and until you do, please keep off public fora, kids might be reading, and you are definitely BAD influence!!

PoliticsRe: Tribute To Nigerian Military In Pictures by sperrysun(m): 9:53am On Dec 01, 2009
@back2back.

If you don't know much about a topic, why don't you do the honorable thing by not saying anything at all. Cos when do say something you might just expose ur ignorance. The cartridge(clip) of the AK is wrapped in cellotape, yes and so what!? Is that the 1st AK u have seen wrapped that way? (Even the almighty US marines do same); I wonder why most Nigerians have this very deep seated and often misplaced negative mindset about anything Nigerian. Yes, the country is bad, and all that but when something good comes from it, lets be gracious enough to acknowledge it. The Nigerian military is one of the institutions that one is proud of in Nigeria, so I wonder what your antagonism is about. Remember that hate it or love it, u are still a Nigerian and forever would be, so the earlier you start loving it the better for u.

PoliticsRe: Fashola Shuts Aswani Market by sperrysun(m): 11:48am On Jan 26, 2009
Its important for people especially those on NL to research their posts and to also ensure their veracity before they post them on the forum.

First of all, Fashola did not close down Oshodi market,what he did was to get rid of tyhe street traders who have converted the long stretch of Agege Motor road to one big,uncoordinated market with its attendant twin evils of traffic jam and menace of 'agberos'  If you compare the stretch of Agege motor road before to what is now,then u will understand that the Gov of Lagos state is doing a great job!!

Second of all, he did not shut down Aswani market,but stopped the traders from trading along the road.There is a market built for them called ASWANI before they converted the whole of Apapa-Oshodi expressway to one big market too. Its only in Nigeria that we allow all forms of illegalities to exist in the name of 'survival'

Give the Gov a break, he is doing a good job!! Those of u compalining now are the same ones that would hail him when the transformation is complete.Ask those who wanted to villify El-Rufai when he was sanitizing Wuse II market!!

PoliticsRe: UK Denies Ribadu Asylum by sperrysun(m): 2:46pm On Dec 17, 2008
Nigeria is a really special country where oddities abound. How can that incompetent,inept, and sick man in Aso rock condone and covertly or overtly aprove, the series of indignities that Nuhu Ribadu is being subjected to, and still preach and pontificate that he is all for the rule of law and 'zero tolerance'for corruption.Indeed!!!

Ribadu,deserves a medal of honour for his galant strides in the fight against corruption,instead he is getting disgraced and humiliated. He gave the Iboris,Dariyes,Alams,etc of this sick country a taste of the other side of affluence and law.What signals do these acts of humiliation and disgrace send to the next public office holder? I know , its loot as much as you can and please do not rock the boat, let 'LOOTING DOGS LIE'. See what happens to those who try to 'correct' the system, Ribadu

   MAY GOD HELP NIGERIA.
PoliticsRe: Gani Fawehinmi Rejects National Honour (OFR) by sperrysun(m): 2:26pm On Dec 17, 2008
I don't understand the selective amnesia of some people on this forum. Chief Gani Fawehinmi is one of the most principled men alive in Nigeria today. I knew even before the announcement that Gani was going to reject that useless award. You only need to scrutinize his principles and his moral leanings to understand the kind of person that Chief Ganiyu Fawehinmi is.

Bettes and co are saying that Gani was one of the most vocal critics of the EFCC under Ribadu,but was he against the job being done by the EFCC or the person doing the job.Granted,there were a few cases of judicial excesses on the part of Ribadu and the EFCC, but no right thinking Nigerian can argue that Ribadu did more to fight corruptio in Nigeria than any other individual or establishment. Gani was criticizing the excesses of the EFCC na dnot the job they were doing.

Chie Gani did well to reject that 'dis-honour' just like another great Nigerian, Prof. Chinua Achebe did a couple of years ago. There is no moral bases for the govt to be dispensing awards, the country is a virtual failure by all indices of statehood,so what is there to celebrate?
Christianity EtcRe: Why Is It That Witches, Wizards And Demons Never Attack Atheist? by sperrysun(m): 4:02pm On Dec 15, 2008
@Poster, your post is very interesting, Africans have traditional/fetish explanations for any occurrence that befuddles their minds, while the Europeans and others have scientific explanations for these. U have had a lot of first hand experience of how those, who witches, aljanu,and demons posses act,I wonder if its only peculiar to Africans, my answer is NO!! You have same things in Europe and America.

One question, have you seen anything like what you saw in those prayer houses, and mallam's houses anywhere in Europe?, B4 you rush to answer NO, ponder a bit if you have ever visited a mental institution in Europe. My bet is that there are a lot of people in Europe who have the same symptoms as those you saw in those prayer houses, the only difference between the two is that, while the Africans call it witchcraft and demonic attack, the Europeans call it more scientific names like SCHIZOPHRENIA, DEMENTIA, HALLUCINATIONS etc.

So,my dear poster,its not those who believe in all those that they attack, its just a difference in nomenclature and basic foundational understanding,

Just my opinion, anyhow,
PoliticsRe: CNN Says Oil Is A Curse To Nigeria! by sperrysun(m): 4:24pm On Dec 12, 2008
There is a lot of truth in this report, even if its coming from a source notorious for biased reportage of anything African. You only need to take a trip to the Niger Delta to understand that what the Ling woman and CNN reported is just a tip of the iceberg. My only anger is that this is no longer news, we live with it everyday, corruption,lack of basic amenities etc, my question is 'what is being done about it' Where is d international coalition against this man's inhumanity to man?

Well, what can one expect from an America that only speaks against evil when the evil is no longer favoring them, you name it, Rwandan massacre, war in Liberia & Senegal,even the DRC. America condones atrocities for as long the said atrocity benefits Uncle Sam,once it no longer does they would make a volte face and start condemning what they have always overlooked.

Any how,God bless 9ja!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,The invitation you got smells of scam,so be very careful.I have a friend that was taken for a ride like this and had all he hadon him taken when he got there.

Be careful.What kind of company wil ask you to come for interview with a laptop?They should have their own systems that they test candidates with.It does not look and smell right to me.Be careful!!
