Politics / Re: Homosexuals Storm National Assembly by spikedcylinder: 2:29pm On Apr 14, 2011
BashiruB:

It is amazing how our Lord Jesus never said a word regarding homosexuality. All he preached all his life was love. Love your God and Love your neighbour. No condemnation. No judgements. Just do the right thing and be true to your conscience. And believe me, there is nothing more damning to the conscience of a homosexual as faking love and attraction to the opposite sex so that he can get married and escape societies expectations and all. It is damning to his soul because deep down, he knows that he is not only sinning against his conscience and God, he is also sinning against the innocent partner that has been brought into the marriage or relationship. The homosexual harbours his secret and it slowly eats him up. The quality of his relationship with his spouse can never be perfect because there is a secret there- the foundation of the relationship is built on lies. This makes it easier to tell more lies and keep more secrets in the marriage. In truth, closeted gay people (like most Nigerians) have not true friends. They are there own best friends and the keeper of the secrets. Afterall, how can you say you have a friend when you are not even able to talk with that friend about your true crush? Or share details about your true feelings? Friendships are formed by sharing and the closeted homosexual has learnt through life to shut himself off and just keep his struggles buried deep. The closet is a place of great sorrow- for the person . It is also a terrible thing because of the collateral damage that follows it.

Looks like you just went to dig up all gay threads on NL to post this. Anyway, check Leviticus 18:22.

Lie. BEEF!
it must have been the stress of the gruelling campaigns and whatnot. I saw her close range at an event in Muson Centre back in 2007 when Asiwaju was still governor. . . she looked like a GODDESS in appearance and gait! Oh, those eyes. Besides her carriage and grace are unrivalled. . .maybe only Onari Duke (and perhaps Daisy Danjuma) can give her a run for her money; but Oluremi still tops them in my eyes.

Seriously o, no beef.
I used to admire her posters everyday on my way to work till I saw her in person last week. All I could say was, "to o". lipsrsealed cheesy

No beef but she's not that cute in person. Major photoshop at play here.
I saw her last week after the cancelled elections and she looked like a ghost lifted from the woman in the photo.
Again, no beef. cheesy

Olden marriage, roles clearly defined and less selfishness IMO

Modern marriages - too many blurred lines, me i'm still confused sef

I disagree with the highlighted.
There was a lot of selfishness, only that it came from the men. These days, both parties choose to be selfish.

Really!!!!

I cant believe you Just said that, do you know how many times or Actors have played the role of Muhammed Ali, even Ali said "he speaks just like me" I would go as far as Will Smith executed his role in Ali better than Denzel Washington did in the Hurricane. but unfortunately for Will Smith each time he is nominated for an oscar he has come up against a very strong candidate with Forest Whittaker in his role as Idi Amin. Look Brad Pitt like Tom Cruise would never or lucky to win an Oscar because of the roles they get compared to Johnny Depp, but to say Brad Pitt is just Hollywood pretty face is a joke!!!! nobody is saying that Brad Pitt is jack Nicholson or Marlon Brando. Am sorry if your looking for an Hollywood's pretty face then you would be looking at actors like Colin Ferrell or Megan Fox.

Don't you wonder why he's always up against 'strong contenders'? What stops him from being a strong contender himself?

The rest of what you said, I really don't understand.
Celebrities / Re: Oprah Is Wrong! Julia Roberts Is America's Genevieve! by spikedcylinder: 12:57pm On Apr 01, 2011
pro01:

Na iro nla u talk so. How exactly do you determine who a "good" actor is? Considering the subjectivity of notions of "goodness" or "badness" in their varying degrees, the ONLY sure way of determining how good an actor is is by checking how his/her movies fare at the box office. Surely Brad Pitt isn't the finest 'boy' in Hollywood, but he is very bankable - considering the volume of cash his movies generate at the box office. Same applies to folks like Will Smith, Matt Damon, George Clooney and Johnny Depp. Give the man his due man; he connects with his audiences, which translates to box office hits. . .which is why he IS a good actor. One can't claim to be a good actor while his/her movies perform poorly at the box office.

@ Topic

Is 'Genevieve' the name of a person, animal, place, ot thing? Sounds like a nice name.

Lol. May your mouth bend into four for calling me oniro.
That being said, I started the argument as a reference point to those who were giving examples of Brad as being the epitome of talent in Hollywood. My initial point was "what's supposed to be so great about him as an actor talent wise?"
People were saying Genny and Julia, given the same opportunities and platforms will deliver equally as actors and also saying that in no time, Jim whathisface will soon be compared to Brad Pitt. Like Brad Pitt is supposed to be the ultimate acting god.
Will Smith makes a lot of money box office-wise although his acting is shitty. Same goes to Brad, although I agree that Brad does a better job of interpreting roles than Will.
I hope you get my point? wink

[color=#000099]yes na very 'fine boy' but he is a good actor

HE WAS AWESOME IN TROY & THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON - just to mention 2 for now

Hmmm

Go and watch these movies?

Interview with the Vampire
Legends of the Fall
Seven
Meet Joe Black
The Assassination of Jesse James
by the Coward Robert Ford
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

And come and tell he is only a boy with a pretty face and nothing more!!!

I vehemently disagree with you both. I've seen most of those movies and still insist he's a chewing gum actor. There are some few movies he was exceptional in like Fight Club but I wouldn't immediately class him in the likes of the greats like Phillip Seymour or Pitt's mentor - Redford.

So yep. Pretty face. Little more.

Even Genevieve said she was flattered when Oprah called her Nollywood's Julia Roberts. Genny felt elated. You should be comparing Genny with Jackie Appiah, Omotola e.t.c. Ver soon, you will start comparing Jim Iyke with Brad Pitt.

I think you should go easy on the insults. I would have deleted your post had you not made some other relating point to the topic.

That being said, what is supposed to be great about Brad as an actor?  You do realise its 'fine boy' that has got him thus far in his career? Him and that Clooney fella. undecided

Celebrities / Re: Thanks To Oprah For Comparing Me To Julia Roberts – Genevieve Nnaji by spikedcylinder: 11:16am On Mar 31, 2011
Julia has won one Oscar and was at some point the highest paid actress in the world @ $25m per picture. Her current net worth is allegedly about $200m. There's even a Bulgarian skeleton named after her because of her near perfect dentition.
I'm sure Genevieve doesn't make that money per movie and is not worth that much. Comparing her to to Julia IS a big deal and IS something to be flattered about.
Y'all should deal with it.

@ beaf

Abeg, mek pesin hia word jare! How many campaign rallies did he hold? The man just wants to be there on TV as a "presidential candidate," wasting both his time, ours and that of the genuine contestants.

It was a mistake to have sent him an invitation, but the fact that it was very rightfully withdrawn is one hell of a boost to the seriousness of the BON debate. Even Chris Okotie was busy making noise in Warri yesterday, because his IV was withdrawn as well. Can you imagine?

In the US debates, I don't recall any of the various independent clowns, making it to their presidential debate, it was strictly Obama vs McKain.

Every clown wants to debate, yesterday United National Party for Development (UNDP), Alhaji Galadima samari actually needed an interpreter to translate from Hausa. Someone should simply have set dogs on him instead!!!

Hilarious as your post is, you are really not in a position to determine who 'genuine' contestants are or even ridicule people who have made their intentions known to run for political office. Nigeria runs a multi party system and all adults that can vote can be voted for. smiley
