SportsVideo: B B C Exposed Nigerian Football Conmen by spora1(op): 2:05pm On Jul 15, 2008
An undercover BBC investigation has exposed how young African footballers are being conned out of thousands of dollars by Nigerian fraudsters.

They prey on the thousands of amateur players who post their details online hoping to be spotted by English agents.

One gang which was confronted pretended to be Manchester United officials working with manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Another conman was impersonating the chief talent scout for Chelsea to trick naive teenagers into wiring him cash.

Victims are often duped into sending money in the false belief that they are paying official registration fees to have a trial to play for their favourite English Premier League clubs.

The fraudsters simply pocket the money and disappear.

CelebritiesRe: 9ice Is Getting Married Soon by spora1: 7:19pm On Jul 03, 2008
Yes!

Rumour has it that 9ice and his babe Toni Payne, CEO of Toni Payne Cosmetics, are getting married in August, even as they are expecting their first child. Toni Payne confessed that she is madly in love with 9ice.

The lady who is based in the US, is using all the connection at her disposal to promote 9ice.

Here is what she said of 9ice on her blog <tonipayne . blog spot . com> on 2008 Val day.

My Vals day hasnt been half bad considering I'm stuck here in LA when I really should be somewhere else but its been a very emotional day, a day of strong words and even stronger actions. I'm sure you are like err T its 9 am, how has your own vals day started? hahaha well my vals day started since yesterday considering im working on naija time, Got a surpring his midnight message, then a surprising my midnight message, then another, then another. hahaha all I have to say is where ever I found him, may men from that place never finish. In fact God should produce more men like him, the world would be a better place. lol. If I could do it all over again, I would not blink an eye, and to think I almost ran, hahahahahaha,

Heyyy, its vals day so I can afford to get a bit personal, you know those that know me can testify, the decision to get hitched has not been an easy one so much so my MOH asked me for the first 6 weeks if I am sure. I think she is just finally accepting that I have no problem falling in love. Well, to defend myself, its not like I wasnt interested in loving and settling down, its just that I have not been bothered because I have this outlook on life, I would rather stay single and have fun than marry a man that will give me problems, a man I am not proud to call mine, someone who I can't see as the father of my kids or a man that I am "managing".

I am a very passionate person and in order for me to turn the other eye, I just can't love you and if I can't love you why marry you. So I guess with that, I began to come across as unserious. I have had a few marriage offers, baby mama offers, hahaha even sugar mummy offers but I thank the lord that the final offer was something I felt was real, no scratch that, we felt was real, someone that understands me better than anyone else, someone that would not think twice before moving the earth for me and vice versa, someone that tells me and more importantly shows me how much he loves me every single day and most importantly someone I have peace of mind being with.

Anyways, enough of that lovey dovey stuff hahahaha, my eyes are welling up. Oh gosh!, lol, ok big baby stop it o, Yeah relationships are something else arnt they? You learn new things everyday. Its amazing how I have matured in the past few years, when I look back at myself then and now, I'm like wow!, you are a woman and I am happy about that. You begin to learn what matters and what doesnt, patience and how to love unselfishly, Its a beautiful thing

ay ay ahhh so I heard it not all hunky dory sha o, ehem, tell me something I don't know, .lol, The sucky part is when your relationship is out there, you get this whole people thinking they know more about you than you know about yourself thing, everyone seems to want to form an opinion, but at the end of the day the truth is we are human and will have our ups and downs, fights and makeups but the most important thing is how we get through it together. And oh no I don't believe any woman is going to use juju to break us up and trap my man.. hahahaa, that one always tickles me. Gosh! I have heard it all,
Isn't 9ice lucky or is it the other way round?

PoliticsRoman Abramovich Resigns As A Russian Governor by spora1(op): 6:50pm On Jul 03, 2008
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/jul/03/russia2?gusrc=rss&feed=football

Roman Abramovich, the Russian billionaire and owner of Chelsea FC, today bowed out of Russian politics when he resigned as governor of the frozen far-eastern province of Chukotka.

Abramovich stepped down as the region's governor at "his own request", the Kremlin said today. Russia's new president, Dmitry Medvedev, had signed a decree relieving him of his duties, it added.

Abramovich had been in the job for seven years and his departure follows at least one unsuccessful earlier attempt to quit last year. Vladimir Putin turned down Abramovich's request and asked him to carry on. He agreed.

Today Abramovich's spokesman said that the oligarch was departing from politics because he considered his job in Chukota completed. Since becoming governor he has pumped billions into the sparsely populated Pacific region, near to Alaska.

"When Mr Abramovich came to Chukotka the region was in serious crisis. In the past seven years he's succeeded not only in pulling it out of crisis but significantly boosting the standard of living," his spokesman, John Mann, told the Guardian.

"He's rebuilt infrastructure, housing, schools and hospitals. He's bought in new investors to build the economy of the region. He's put Chukotka on a great footing for future development," said Mann.

Asked why Abramovich was quitting now, Mann said: "It's very much mission accomplished. But I think there's no overriding reason. I think it's just a change of role."

Abramovich, 41, is Russia's third richest man, according to Forbes Russia magazine, with a $24.3bn (£12bn) fortune.

He has been spending more time recently in Moscow than London, aides say, following his divorce last year.

During the Putin era, Russian oligarchs were obliged to obey the state and to show social responsibility, observers suggest. Those who challenged the Kremlin invariably ended up in exile or in prison.

By taking personal responsibility for Chukotka, one of Russia's most backward and underdeveloped regions, Abramovich showed his loyalty to Putin. He also fended off critics who accused him of unpatriotic behaviour when he bought Chelsea in 2003.

Today analysts suggested that Abramovich had been allowed to give up his government job following Putin's departure as president and the inauguration in May of Dmitry Medvedev as Russia's new leader.

"Putin didn't want him [Abramovich] to leave while power was being transferred," said Sergei Mikheyev, vice-president of Moscow's Centre for Political Technologies. "He asked him to stay on. Now the transfer has happened. The situation has changed."

"Chukotka will really miss him. It is impossible for anybody else to invest as much money into the region," said Mikheyev.

Abramovich was previously Russia's richest man. But he has recently slipped down the table following the sale of his oil firm Sibneft to Gazprom in 2005. Most of his assets are now held by Millhouse Capital, his private investment vehicle.

Last month Abramovich moored his personal $300m yacht in St Petersburg while he attended the annual economic forum in Russia's second city. The British singer Amy Winehouse also played a concert at the opening of an art gallery in Moscow to be managed by Abramovich's girlfriend Daria Zhukova.

Today Mann said that Abramovich would continue to financially support the autonomous district of Chukotka. "Millhouse is investing in several projects there as well as two charities," he said.

Yeah! The best guy was actually hired! I mean, it was a unanimous decision. No grouse bore.

Congratulations to BankPhb, for giving us(?) the opportunity.
Congrats too all the contestants, especially Eunice for coming this far  wink
Congratulations to Troyka Group for the research work.
Congratulations to BS for the organisation and for sharing of his wealth of experience. It wasn't easy, m-e-e-n!
Congrats to you guys for your objective, pragmatic and analyical contributions.
Biggest congratulations to Isaac Obama   grin for the victory

Like Medea said, all is well that ends well.

I am also thinking of hiring Mustay and A_K_O for their consistency on this thread. I think they will do well in my kitchen if I hired them (as that is the only place I have vacancy for now) but I can trust them with my beatiful wife grin grin. Good job, guys! thumps up!.

gatewayman:
Glad the best man won. Was really afraid they were going to be bias against Isaac. Evidently Isaac out performed Eunice today. BTW did any one notice that the last task was not rated? Really wondered why. I submit that Eunice had the upperhand.
I shared your opinion about the last task. I thought Eunice won it. But a review of it yesterday actually revealed what BankPhb was looking for and to them Eunice concentrated much on the old system, which was not what they were looking for. I think we were infatuated by the razzmatazz of Eunice presentation of the task.

However, Isaan actually won the task and it formed part of what was used to determine the winner, even though they were silent about it.
Jokes EtcRe: Microsoft Word Magic by spora1: 6:50pm On Jun 18, 2008
I promise explaining the Magic #2 as described by Princess.

You see, “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" is a  phrase that contains all the letters of the English alphabet and is therefore used to test typewriters and computer keyboards.

This phrase was used in English version Microsoft Word 2003 and earlier and was called localised sample text. So when you type =rand(x,y), where x and y are integers, and press Enter , the sample test is displayed and repeatedly for x paragraphs and y sentences per paragraph.

For example if you type =rand(1,2), the sample text is displayed in 1 paragraph and 2 sentence per paragraph etc.

So if you type =rand(200,99), the text is displayed in 200 paragraphs, and 99 sentences per paragraph.

If you type the command with only one integer like =rand(1), it will inserts one paragraph with three lines of text in the paragraph.

Now, this phrase is considered an old sample text in Office 2007, as there is a new sample text for the package. So, if you type this in Word 2007, you might not get “The quick brown ……” phrase

As a matter of fact, different Word versions like Japanese or German have difft localized sample texts.

I have gone through this stress to disabuse people's mind from thinking it was a mistake. It was actually meant as a joke and should be taking so.

@ Princess
MAGIC #2
This is something pretty cool and neat, and unbelievable. ,
At Microsoft the whole Team, including Bill Gates, couldn't answer why this happened!
Try it out yourself,
Open Microsoft Word and type
=rand (200, 99)
And then press ENTER
Please, people should understand that this is a JOKE oh and not think that Bill Gates couldn't answer what happened.

I will try to explain it later.
TV/MoviesRe: The Apprentice Africa by spora1: 3:38pm On Jun 18, 2008
With the task that was given yesterday, I hate to confess that Eunice impressed me. I must say that despite all, she is still innovative. It was with a sigh of relief therefore I learnt that that task alone will not determine who becomes the apprentice.

Prior to the assessments by Paul and Mimi, I could see the pendulum swinging in the direction of Eunice. BS' body languages were pointing in the direction of the yanke gal!

I could see a CEO that was forced to support his assistants. But I was not deceived by Mr. Shobanjo corroboration. He had no choice! Even at that I could see the insincerity in him eulogising Isaac. His heart was completely with Eunice. This was accentuated by his body languages. I could see a CEO that was under pressure. Imagine him close his eyes while talking. Psychologists will tell us that it wasn't him talking for he was not talking with comfort.

With the situations of things, it will be very difficult for him to give it to Eunice, even if he intended to. Everybody is for Isaac, even the sacked employees!

So, I am not moved by his conclusion that he still has the final say (as if we have forgotten he is the CEO). Whether Mr. Shobanjo likes it or not Isaac is the apprentice. I doubt if he will fi iso bintin ba idi je.

If mama was doing something and I was disturbing, she would say "Lo gba arodan wa lodoo ____". Literally means, go and collect ARODAN from ____". Now when you get to that person, (s)he will ask you to sit down, while (s)he was looking for it. You could be there for three hours without being responded to.

She used to say when offended "Ori e o so ohun ti o gba fun e". Your head does not know what it wanted. i.e. You are not serious.

Ori e sore fun e. Positive way of saying you are unfortunate.

I was on TAA website this afternoon and something caught my attentions.

I do not know whether it is by coincidence but have you checked the arrangement of the pictures of the contestants and noticed what I saw?

Did you see that row 1 is arranged in an on and off manner. Meaning that when you see one "fired" contestant, you see one that is still in house and so on and so on. Row 2, it is 2 off's and 1 on etc.

Does it mean that, if the arrangement is anything to go by, Tunde (God forbids) is the next contestant to be fired? The arrangement had better be coincidenc, as Tunde is one of the best guys in the house and he should not be fired, at least not now.

TV/MoviesRe: The Apprentice Africa by spora1: 7:43pm On May 08, 2008
This is the excerpt of the letter I wrote to the Editors of some newspaper houses yesterday

When Eunice was described, in her profile, as being “endowed with natural sex-appeal and this attribute may be an advantage”, nobody thought the CEO will be her very first victim. The recent events in The Apprentice Africa house have however confirmed my fear that Mr. Shobanjo is indeed at her mercy. Perhaps, the CEO is infatuated by her diction and beauty. If not, I wonder what the insolent is still doing in the house.

There is something sinister and crafty about that lady. To say that she is neither a team player nor a good leader is an understatement. The last two episodes have clearly demonstrated that the best place for her is either the beauty contest or the Big Brother house, where game-playing is the in-thing. Imagine her “not-only-should-Nancy-not-be-an-Apprentice-she-should-be-fired-today!” effrontery to Mr. Shobanjo. What an audacity!

In Episode 11, she had no business nominating Kathleen if not to confirm her habit of bringing an ally into the boardroom and double teaming on her antagonist. Poor Nnamdi this time around.

Mr. Shobanjo should understand that with his experience and success in the business world, he is not getting it right in this Eunice game. Eunice has no quality of The Apprentice. Those who described her as mélange are perhaps not close enough to her or have not fallen victim of her manipulative prowess.

She is a big minus and a big misfit in the house and the earlier she is shown the way out, the better.
