Nigerians have trooped out en masse to protest against popular Church of Zion Assembly pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo after allegations of rape against him.

The peaceful protest was held to support Busola Dakolo and to encourage females to speak out against rape and related vices.

The Economic Community Of West African States, ECOWAS is set to launch it’s own currency, ECO by January 2020.

This was made known at the 55th Ordinary Session held in Abuja in the communiqué read by Mr Mustapha Suleiman, Nigeria’s Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The association made up of 15-member countries all from West Africa consists of Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the communiqué read in parts;

“It further directs the commission to ensure implementation of the recommendations of the meeting of the ministerial committee held in Abidjan on June 17 and June 18 as well as preparation and implementation of the Communication Strategy for the single currency programme.

“The Authority takes note of the 2018 macroeconomic convergence report. It noted the worsening of the macroeconomic convergence and urges member states to do more to improve on their performance in view of the imminent deadline.”

“We have not changed that but we will continue with assessment between now and then.

“We are of the view that countries that are ready will launch the single currency and countries that are not yet ready will join the programme as they comply with all six convergence criteria.”

Mavins Record singer and songwriter, Johnny Drille has finally met up with American singer, producer and rapper, Jon Bellion.

Johnny Drille has never hidden his love for the iRobot crooner and recently asked the American to come over to Nigeria for a concert.

The first child of Nigerian Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka, Olaokun has written an open letter to Tonye Cole after the now viral plane incident with his father.


The medical doctor and former Ogun State Commissioner for health has written a letter to the business mogul, Tonye Cole, who first reported the matter on social media.

The letter read in part; “The young man whose seat it was may have had a specific reason to insist on having his seat. He was within his rights, and WS (Wole Soyinka) would be last person to make an issue of it. My irritation, however, is reserved for the social media warriors.”

Talking about how Wole Soyinka himself would have reacted when he was younger, Olaokun said, his father was an activist in his youthful days but was also a gentleman, he wrote; “Some vehemently defended the right of the young man to claim his seat. They hailed him for bravely standing up to oppression and divined how a young WS himself might have reacted in a similar situation. (He is an activist but a gentleman, so it is most likely he would have graciously given way to an elder who mistakenly sat in his seat).”

The Nigerian Super Eagles have had their qualification to the next round of 2019 AFCON on lock down after beating Guinea 1-nil.

DMW star, Davido is currently searching for a woman who believes that her cancer of any stage can be healed when he sings to her hearing.



In the video shared by the Nigerian singer, the woman supposedly bedridden by cancer was asked what she wished for and she said all she cared for was Davido and whether her cancer was stage 4 or 5, she’d be healed.

The YBNL, Lyta and Olamide story is now becoming more of a push and pull fight from both ends.

Remember Olamide had earlier reacted to claims of a rift between himself, YBNL and Lyta via a phone call. Then Lyta himself granted an interview with a news and media platform where he revealed he wasn’t sure YBNL was of any benefit to him.

A source close to the record label has now responded to all the allegations Lyta made in the already viral interview.

In the interview with popular news platform, Legit.ng, the source who wanted to remain hidden revealed that karma is real and Lyta should be careful with what he says. He covered all topics Lyta talked about from his depression to his blind mum, benefits from YBNL, music sales and many more.

Regarding Lyta’s claim that he does not have a contract with YBNL, the source confirmed that this is true.
“Even Olamide himself doesn’t have a contract with YBNL. The truth is he needs to prove himself before he can get a contract. Is it someone that wears the chain of another record label that would get a contract? Or is it someone that ‘bought’ a car online and is living a fake life that will get a contract?”

“Winter Is Coming”, the popular saying from everyone’s favorite TV show, Game of Thrones, has become something of a terror to students of Obafemi Awolowo University.

Ahead of a day that has been heavily anticipated by students of the university, June 1st, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ogunbodede has reassured students of their safety.

Weeks ago, May 3rd precisely, popular indigenous musician, Zlatan Ibile was in the school for a party which was marred by the display of some reported cultists who claimed the rapper was also a part of their confraternity and wanted to come see him.

Fight did break out amongst members of the cult group and some students of the university, leading to some minor injuries. The cult members were reportedly handed over to the police officials and few days later a Whatsapp message reportedly from the leader of the group Oju went in circulation.

The threat of a message had it that the cultists who identified as Alora will have their revenge on the students of the school, come June 1st and there’ll be bloodshed for they’ll be exerting revenge on students of the university for what their members were made to go through, claiming for every one member that was harassed, seven students would be attacked.

Fast forward to today, May 28th 2019, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Eyitope Ogungbenro Ogunbodede revealed in a meeting with the Association of Campus Journalists that the students have nothing to fear because the university has been taking steps.

Addressing the issue of security amongst other topics, the Vice Chancellor revealed that quite a large number of cultists have been arrested within the past few days, all of which aren’t students of the university but other neighboring schools, while some weren’t even from Osun state.

He further stressed how the institution has zero tolerance for cultism and cultists since what has happened in the past, and how the university have measures in place for the coming June 1st all of which can’t be revealed to a news agency as it will be a no-brainer.

He said;

“I want to assure you that we have things in place to forestall any thing like that in OAU, and that we are not resting on our oars that OAU is a place where evil can never thrive,

“Not after what has happened in OAU previously, so anything cultism in OAU is a no go area, so zero tolerance for cultism,

Ex YBNL mafian, Lyta has shed more light to the existing beef between himself and ex label boss, Olamide.

The ‘Time’ crooner in an interview with Naijaloaded TV reveals he didn’t plan on leaving the record label but rather was pushed out by the star.

The short interview had questions varying from his contract with the record label, the music calendar the label supposedly operates on, jealousy over Fireboy, amongst others.

Remember how Olamide had reportedly called to clarify some things, now Lyta has also showed up to shed more light on the issue.

When asked about his deal with the record label, Lyta said;

“I don’t have any written deal with the the record label, I don’t know about any other artiste but I don’t have a written contract with him, YBNL and Olamide will always be part of my story.

“Thank You Olamide, for everything, no love lost.”

Lyta revealed he was getting benefits from the record label, as per after shows, according to him, some 80k, 60k, 250k but never got paid for his songs, ‘Time’ and ‘Self Made’.

He further revealed that so many people had shown interest in signing and sponsoring his music career but he didn’t think it was necessary for him to to leave YBNL, until his dad called him and told him about a guy wanting to sponsor his music career and then asking for the YBNL boss’ number, so as to speak with him. So, he sent a message to Olamide telling him about the sponsorship offer and all Badoo replied with was “If that is the best, I wish you goodluck”. He (Lyta) didn’t know what to reply with as he was lost and wanted more guidance from him but he managed a “Thank you sir”.

There seems to be fire in the YBNL house as reports that Lyta has been sacked from the label seems to be true.

Popular news and media platform, Naijaloaded in one of their posts revealed that the young artiste is out of the record label due to unknown reasons and Olamide eventually unfollowing him on Instagram.

The 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Award reached its climax when Shatta Wale attacked Stonebwoy on stage.

‘Gringo’ crooner, Shatta Wale was left bewildered when Stonebwoy was called on stage as Reggae/Dancehall artiste of the Year. Shattawale alongside his fans stormed the stage to protest the awarding.

Earlier in the night, Shatta Wale had been awarded the Highlife song of the Year for “My Level” and Reggae/Dancehall song of the year for “Gringo”, and so it came as a surprise to him when he wasn’t called as the Reggae/Dancehall artiste of the Year.

When Stonebwoy was called upon, he and his fans marched on stage to receive the award and during his acceptance speech he mentioned that this would be the fifth time he’s won this category back to back.

An angry Shatta Wale couldn’t take it anymore and he, together with his fans marched on stage to fight Stonebwoy. The scuffle between both artiste fans became real when Stonebwoy pulled out a gun.

Nigerian music export, Damini Ogulu aka Burna Boy has emerged the African artiste of the year in the just concluded Vodafone Ghana Music Award (VGMA 2019).

The event which holds once every year held on Saturday 18th of May, in Accra, the capital of Ghana.

Burna Boy beats off stiff competition from fellow Nigerians, Wizkid, Mr Eazi and Davido to win the award. The category also included Sauti Sol and Casper Nyovest.

Another Nigerian, Mr Eazi who recently got nominated for in the BET Awards for best international act won 2 awards in the night. Eazi was awarded with the Afro Pop Song Of The Year for his Akwaaba featuring Guilty Beats, Patapaa, Pappy Kojo and ‘Best African Collaboration Of The Year’ for the same song.

An Obafemi Awolowo University Student named Korede Kayode Omotola has passed away during a football match he was involved in.

The year 3 (300 Level) student of Microbiology was reportedly involved in a Freshers vs Stalites football match before slumping and subsequently rushed to the university’s health center where passed away.

According to a report from Great Ife Watch – an online publication in the university – the health center faltered when it mattered the most, he was repeatedly administered drip while gasping for breath instead of an Oxygen mask.

Further reports emphasized on the bad state of the school’s health center.

Oluwo of Iwo land, Oba AbdulRasheed Adewale Akanbi Telu 1 has rubbished talks of Oduduwa being an Igbo.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo had claimed Oduduwa was from the Eastern part in reaction to Ooni of Ife Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi claims that Igbo people originated from Ile-Ife.

Ndigbo had said Odudunwa (last-born), later called Oduduwa was an Igbo prince who occupied Ile-Ife but the Yoruba regarded him as a god because he was very powerful and had magical powers.


The Oluwo of Iwo through his press secretary, Alli Ibraheem, said, “The Yoruba nation was founded by Oduduwa. He brought the first civilisation, which is the crown. Oduduwa demontrated an unequalled leadership. He was shrewd, peculiar, unparalleled, unmatched, quintessential and different. He served his people and became a rallying point for his services to humanity. He gave us the best tradition, so respectful and obedient. The Yoruba culture is rich, very beautiful and unblemished. It emanated from Oduduwa.”

“History is rich, necessary and must always be objective, because it is a foundation for the future. Worldwide, Yorubaland is the source of every natural crown. Our crowns are divinely ordained and sacred. It was brought by Oduduwa. And we owe him a duty to defend everything about him”, He concluded.

Nigeria Nobel prize winner, Professor Wole Soyinka has agreed that his generation has failed the common Nigerians.



Wole Soyinka made this known during a discussion with Hard Talk, a BBC programme.

The Nigerian playwright, poet and essayist when asked by the anchor of the programme, Zeinab Badawi “Has your generation of older Nigerians failed the people?”


Wole Soyinka said; “Yes, I believe so. I compare today with dreams and aspirations we had when we all rushed home after studies abroad. We considered ourselves the renaissance people that were going to lift the continent to world standards, competitors anywhere. It hasn’t happened.”

A final year student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife has reportedly ended his life after too much pressure.



The demised named Kolapo Olowoporoku was a student of computer science and engineering, Sciences Department in the school.

A popular news broadcast network on the campus, iMuB claimed sources in the same department said he was found dead after consuming chemicals.
