The US would plead for Isreal not to retaliate just the way it did back during the war against Saddam Hussein. That time, Saddam fired scud missiles into Isreal after American provocation. He hoped Isreal would retaliate and shatter any intending Arab coalition. But Isreal responded not and allowed US and the Arabs to deal with Iraq.

If you doubt ask your self why non of the countries surrounding them have waged any serious war against them despite their hostility to Israel and its small size and population

I am very sure USA have a very strong reason for all this attack on Iraq. They have spy in every country so this may just be a timely reminder to Iraq and other Islamic nations to stop their systematic islamisation of part of Africa this would put them in check
