The capital of a country is not supposed to be the economic hub of that country...

All countries places their capitals cities in places that are less congested... To give the country a national government presence

Us capital is not in newyork or San Francisco
Brazil is not in Rio or Sao Paulo
Even Egypt is now moving it's capital from Cairo

What exactly is your point
Politics › Re: CBN Moves Departments To Lagos State by spy24(m): 1:15pm On Jan 14, 2024
musicwriter:
Indeed, I've long theorized that moving Nigeria's capital from Lagos to Abuja was the beginning of taking away power from the people.

You see, when the capital was in Lagos with it's huge population of underprivileged citizens, people could easily register their frustration through protests directly at the government house. This is despite the governments were military regimes then.

Moving the capital to a well-off neighborhood like Abuja means that the very people feeling the worst of the government's wrong policies are no longer near the government house to register their frustration every now and then.

This is why the Nigerian government can get away with anything since then.
Moving the capital from Lagos is the best decision that the Nigerian government ever took..

Betta, you're not alone in this, sensible Nigerians are with you, you'd scale through. A lot of people talk out of ignorance of the challenges she's faced with, ignorant people that have no idea how it works. You possibly can't reach out to the poorest of the poor without handling cash, lots of these vulnerable people are unbanked, so how do you send money to them without directly giving out the cash?. If you've ever been to the remote villages where these projects are being launched, there's hardly a bank or POS in those communities, you have to travel several distance before you locate a bank, couple with the fact that a lot of these beneficiaries do not own a bank account, they are largely illiterates.

Politics › Re: Dogara To Tinubu: Don't Be A Mourner-in-chief, Stop The Killings Now by spy24(m):
I am a peter Obi supporter

But i have always suspected that this is on way that the enemies of Nigeria will use in fighting Tinubu...

Since the north is not holding any key position in the 3 arms of government.. I know that some elements from there will suffer Tinubu with insecurity, it may get far worse than it was during Jonathan... The peace that he'd need to carry out any meaningful change will not be afforded him.. by 2027 they may have successfully rendered his government useless.. the man for leave that area of security for Dem

And for the obedients shouting here that Tinubu is a failure the truth is, if it was peter Obi eh.. it would have been worse. Not because he'd not be competent but the sabotage he'd have faced would be second to non...

To be president no easy... With time more respect will be given to Jonathan

The problem is we focus too much on the presidency forgetting the one we should hold is the governor.

We should go Abuja to face tinubu while leaving the governors abihuh
I don't know if this governors are using jazz or we just have alot of educated illiterate in Nigeria.

Your governor is suppose to create job and better the likelihood of where you residing that why he get allocation every month.

Better start asking your governor what he is doing with your money and leave the presidency alone.
You no go school....
Is it state government that controls the exchange rate, macro economics and security of the country ?

You were making sense until you mentioned the bolded. That was I knew you don't know much or probably speaking out of ignorance.

How can you not saying Buhari tried in area of infrastructure. Dude compare the money he borrowed to watch built and then compare that to just Goodluck.

Make una no dey talk this thing E dey vex me. Hyping rubbish. You need to step out of this shithole make you see infrastructure. 😐
Yes Buhari borrowed lots of money and did little. True. but that doesn't change the fact that the man archievement in this area should be understated..

He revived the railways, he's the reason why we now have a rail system cutting across the country today, Jonathan started it but Buhari did over 70 percent of the work. He renovated all our international airports, during his administration, asaba ebonyi and Anambra got international airports, I know youd say it's the state government that did it but I tell you the federal government financed some percentage of this projects

He completed the second Niger bridge( it is actually a very bridge if you have seen it ) and and renovated many other road projects across the country..

Name any former president that has done half, it is the military that gave us most of the infrastructures we have today.. most of the things you see in Lagos and Abuja were built by the military government of the 70s 80s and 90s
Politics › Re: Nigeria's Highest GDP Rate (4.21%) From 2015-2019 Was Our Lowest (1999-2015) by spy24(m):
Obasanjo enjoyed the benefits of an emerging economy.. and he allowed things to flow being a wise leader, he was both strong economically and politically, therefore there was stability

Yaradua consolidated due to the fact that there was no opposition

By the time good luck entered the picture, the orientation of the political class was shifting from nationalism, progress and result to political interests.. Jonathan did well economically like any PDP led government would have done, but failed in political leadership, so therefore he did not enjoy the stability that Obj and yaradua enjoyed

As for Buhari, I kind of like the man... his last 2 years in office revealed the kind of leader he'd have been if he wasn't the type that catches up too slow.. he failed spectacularly due to ill health at the start, the loss of Abba kyari and his party the APC.
I'm sure he left office with many regrets... It took him too long to identify where his real problems layed.
He failed economically and politically but he tried in areas of infrastructure

As for Tinubu.. I think that he will do well.. so far aside from his lopside appointments he seems to be getting most of his executive decisions right.. I don't think that he'll be an infrastructural giant like Buhari.. but he definitely will revive the economy he seems to have keen interest in tracking of revenue and expenditure sources at the federal level and he's setting up measures to block leakages and expanding the tax net of the federal government.. it's like a restructure of some sort.. if he succeeds and has good intentions.. the man will make financial gains for Nigeria like no other president have done before by the time he leaves office
