The Global Peace Movement International UK, on Wednesday commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya for the professional conduct of officers and men of Nigerian Army.
In a statement by its Media officer, Augustine Aminu on behalf of the President-General, Dr Mike Uyi, the group said it is an anti-corruption crusader with network of membership cutting across about 25 countries.
He commended high level of professionalism displayed by officers and men of the Nigerian Army despite obvious challenges from provocation.
Uyi extolled Yahaya for his symbolic leadership and professional conduct of the Army under him, which he charged other African countries to emulate.
“Nigeria, taunted as the giant of Africa, in terms of population, geography, human and mineral resources should lead this aggressive revolution of ending all forms of insecurity for freedom and liberation of its citizens,” Uyi stressed.
He hailed the sterling leadership of Gen. Farouk for filling the leadership vacuum in the years of prosecuting the war against terrorism.
He assured the COAS that GPMI as a family is behind him in the quest to wipe out Boko Haram, banditry among other criminal elements disturbing the peace of the country.
“There is no gainsaying the fact that the effective leadership of the military authorities has direct bearing in boasting the morale of the troops as well as their successful endeavour in routing the insurgents”.
“We believe that the military under General Farouk is capable of ending the over 10 year-old insurgency and other forms of insecurity and ensure the permanent return of normalcy in the country,” the statement read.
In the same vein, the GPMI expressed delight over the recent re-organisation in the Nigeria Police Force, by the Inspector General of the Police, Usman Baba Alkali, describing the measure as a step in the right direction.
“With the steps so far taken by the IGP to reorganise the security architecture of the country, we are confident that the present security challenges will soon be a thing of the past,” he said.

The seed of controversies hitting the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is not sown today and may continue to sprout except the actors in the game beat a retreat.

That a party of the pedigree of the APC, which was on the line for years as opposition can slide progressively into crises is not the issue. What is at stake is the role being played by top members of the party in the plot to destroy the party when it is well positioned to clinch the trophy in 2023.

It is no longer secret that there are cracks, deep ones at that, in the party.

The concern by watchers of the party is if the party will be able to cover the cracks and manage it to victory in 2023.

At the center of the intrigues plaguing party is ‘The Gang of Four’ or group referred to by some as the quartet.

Today, the soul of the governing party is being held by a group of powerful four, herein referred to as the ‘Gang of Four.’ The team comprises of the Chairman, Caretaker/Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who is also the Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni; his counterpart in Kebbi and Jigawa states, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and Muhammad Badaru Abubakar as well as the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.

It is not a rumour how these powerful party men designed, supervised and implemented the exit of the erstwhile chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, using the Minister of Transport, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi as a tool. The former Rivers state governor, reportedly financed the plot in collaboration with the Edo State deputy governor while still in the party then, Philip Shaibu and with the support of Hon. Victor Giadom. They successfully got Oshiomhole expelled from his ward which he shares with Shaibu.

It was Giadom that was procured to suspend Comrade Oshiomhole from the party as National Chairman before perfecting the plot to bring in Mala Buni and his team to power. Unfortunately Giadom himself was dispensed off immediately after being used. With Giadom, Amaechi had thought he will have control of the party and build it in his own image. He never foresaw that he could be blindsided in his bid by the ‘Gang of Four.’

The Amaechi, Keyamo, Lalong’s Involvement

To further limit the influence of Rotimi Amaechi, the Minister of Transport, ‘The Gang of Four’ reached out to his political foe, Senator Magnus Abbe. Through the Minister of State for Petroleum Timipre Sylvia, they first made Abbey a member of the board of NNPC. Now they have concluded plan to hand over the APC structure in Rivers State to Abbey to the disappointment and anger of Amaechi and his group. Sen Abbey’s response to the Supreme Court pronouncements on Buni’s leadership of the party is informed by this new romance with the ‘Gang of Four.’ It is believed that he will soon be dispensed with as well, like Amaechi.

Plateau State governor, Simon Lalong belongs to the Amaechi Group. He is disaffected by the sidelining of Amaechi and believed to be threatening fire and brimstone.

The two party stalwarts are now being treated like outsiders on party matters by Buni and his team. Amaechi’s anger at the development has no bound and it has driven him into looking at options which include dumping APC. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is however not an alternative considering the fact that Governor Wike, his nemesis holds sway in PDP not only in Rivers but nationally. For now, Buni has poured salt in the engine of Amaechi’s Presidential bid vehicle and cranking the vehicle to take off has become burdensome.

In Delta, of course everyone is in the know that the Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, SAN was also a major player in the Oshiomhole’s exit as party chairman. He is also an ally of Amaechi. Same treatment was handed down the activist-turned politician when the group surprisingly contrived to empower the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, senator representing Delta State Central. ‘The Gang of Four’ has promised to hand over the structure of Delta State APC to Omo- Agege and also make him governor of Delta State in 2023.

Keyamo is today lamenting and his cohorts and team can be seen instituting legal proceedings against the Buni-led leadership of the party from Delta State. It is suspected that Keyamo’s quick intervention in advocating for the sack of the Mai Mala Buni’s committee aftermath of the Supreme Court’s minority judgement in the Ondo State governorship battle that was slightly won by Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu of the APC was a spin of his being dumped by The Gang.

Dr Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State and Chairman of the Governors’ Forum is also a minor player in the crisis. He is however seen as pun in the chess game being played by The Gang. He initially was promised support for his Presidential bid. With this, he collaborated with them to remove Oshiomhole and to sideline Amaechi. It is dawning on him now, according to sources, that he been used to rubbish his erstwhile godfather Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his friends Comrade Oshiomhole and Rotimi Amaechi.

The intrepid governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai who was part of the plan to shove out Tinubu and Oshiomhole out of the party’s sphere of influence has also been sidelined. His aides however disagreed. They argued he was disgusted with the ‘Gang of Four’ and has therefore chosen to distance himself.

Osun State governor, Isiaka Oyetola is tagging along with The Gang despite the fact that they have and continued to rubbish his elder brother and political godfather, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He is maintaining this stance because he wants a second term in Osun and he believes The Gang could pour sand in his millet flour.

Governor Akeredolu of Ondo State who was initially dragged into the conspiracy to remove Oshiomhole by Dr. Kayode Fayemi, his political godfather had since backed out. He was said to have been betrayed by them when it was reported that The Gang gave maximum support to Mr. Eyitayo Jegede of the PDP in the Supreme Court. Jegede was said to have reached out to them with the promise to decamp to APC if he wins. With this promise, they had gone out to lobby for him. Akeredolu almost lost 5 votes to 2 but for the last minute support rallied for him by Tinubu from his temporary base in London. Since Akeredolu won, he has not hidden his hatred for The Gang while Fayemi continue to play along.

The Ogun and Lagos State governors are also not rocking the boat because of their second term ticket which they believe ‘The Gang’ could influence either way.

The Parting Point

However, the thread holding The Gang is said to be tenuous as all the four are known to be very ambitious and their ambition may clash.

Although they appear to be united on a mission to gain full control of the party, but each of Malami, Badaru, Bagudu and Buni have clear ambition to serve as vice president to whoever they individually plot, and of course, separately support to emerge as president.

To Malami, the search for his presidential candidate appeared to have been narrowed down to the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele. Buni is thinking of himself as President or Vice to another candidate. Aside from him, the rest three are also out sniffing from among the presidential hopefuls within the APC, who will best serve their interests to be VP in the unfolding game.

Atiku Bagudu, the governor is said to be desperate for a higher office that will assure him immunity in the next dispensation. He too is shopping for his Presidential candidate.

Already, the game has reached the pitching point with each camp trying everything to swell their camps to the point that overtures are being made to moneybags and heavyweights from the opposition, including those having days at different courts over allegations bothering on mindboggling corruption cases and mindless looting of public funds to come to their camps for funding and chances.

Dead or ailing politicians across the country are being resurrected as tools in their calculations. They have been to Ogun State to pick up former Governor Gbenga Daniel, former Speaker Dimeji Bankole and his dad. From Ogun, they moved to Oyo and tapped on former Governor Adewolu Ladoja. They went to the East and picked Stella Oduah. Oduah has a humongous corruption case in court and ACJ learnt they have assured her they will help her fix it.

Earlier, their net had caught the performing Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi and they have promised him the Presidential ticket.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan who they also promised a return to Aso Rock is still dilly-dallying with them. An associate of his told ACJ that Jonathan has seen through them and may be stepping back.

They have gone to Bayelsa State and threatened former Governor Seriake Dickson of PDP with arrest and trial. He too is considering leaving his party to pacify them.

With this development, the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, is carefully standing aloof, monitoring and examining the events. Same for the governor of Kano, Dr Abdulahi Ganduje , the governor of Borno, Prof Babagana Zulum, Gov Bello Masari of Katsina State and Gov Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State.

With the exit of Oshiomhole, the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has been taken care of and taken out with dwindled influence in the APC. Largely, the majority party chieftains are mere onlookers who are waiting to see how things will unfold.

The Buhari’s Perspective

In the midst of all these, most party chieftains are concerned about the position of President Muhammadu Buhari in all these scheming. Many are of the opinion that it is either the president is himself a pawn in the game or if he indeed is the big masquerade calling the shots underneath by using The Gang as the ultimate pawn in the game of 2023.

The world was taken on a shock ride on Sunday, September 6, 2021 when news poured in from the West African country that President Alpha Conte of Guinea Conakry, a country of an estimated 13 million people, according to the 2019 World Bank data, had been seized by the Guinean Special Forces and dissolved some institutions of government.

Leader of the enraged military Special Forces, Lt-Col. Mamady Doumbouya, a former French foreign legionnaire officer had alleged that the sacked government was embroiled in ‘mismanagement” as reason for the coup.

“We are no longer going to entrust politics to one man, we are going to entrust politics to the people. Guinea is beautiful. We don’t need to rape Guinea any more, we just need to make love to her,” Doumbouya had said in a television broadcast after Conte’s ouster.

But then, as condemnations continue to greet the insurrection and calls continuing coming from different world leaders and concerned persons, demanding for the immediate restoration of constitutional rule in Guinea, one Nigerian who is definitely will be among most concerned is the National Leader of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu whose relationship with the ousted Guinean leader is reportedly beyond mere political affiliation and deeper into business dealings.

Not only this, Prof. Conte is a known personal friend of the former Lagos state Governor, and this he did not hide to the point of moving his political mercenary to assist someone his media office described as a ‘friend and brother’ at defining moment when the second term-seeking Conte needed his friend most.

In an October 26, 2015 edition of Vanguard newspaper, Tinubu’s media aide, Mr. Sunday Dare, now Nigeria’s Minister of Youth, had caused a report titled, “In faraway Guinea Conakry, Tinubu’s political prowess holds sway,” invariably to showcase the political dexterity of the APC chieftain.

Dare had written; “Though the October 11, 2015 presidential elections in Guinea Conakry have come and gone, not many would forget in a long time the key role played by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

Dare went further to explain how the Tinubu’s media and political base visibly headed for Guinea, a sovereign little country to guarantee victory for his friend who won as a result of what Dare called a “reward for hard work and a campaign that was on message. The political campaign of the incumbent president got a bite when Tinubu moved in to help his friend, a brother and a true African leader.”

The Tinubu political team also explained that it got embedded within the Alpha Conde Campaign Organisation up to election monitoring and countering the opponents; and carried out a day-by-day review of the campaign. “Perhaps, the most defining aspect of the presidential campaign was the ROBO call element, which was used for the first time in any election in Guinea.”

Although respondents then condemned the invasion of the Tinubu mercenary into the Alpha Conte’s campaign, but the deed as they say had already been done. Pundits wondered why a private citizen, regardless of closeness to a candidate in a foreign jurisdiction would delve so glaringly into the affairs of another independent nation.

Desmond Afolayan, writing in The Cable of October 28, 2015 had opined that: “In a country whose democracy is yet fragile and in an election that was just the country’s second free multiparty national election since it gained independence in 1958, the help any true friend of the people of Guinea should have offered leading up to and during the election should have been in such critical areas as the advocacy for a peaceful and watchful conduct by the people, capacity building for state institutions like the electoral umpire and security agencies to perform their duties without fear or favour, and the advocacy for exemplary behaviour by the candidates and other key political operatives that will result in peaceful electoral outcomes.”

However, what many do not know is that the Guinean President is more than a friend to the Jagaban as Tinubu is fondly called, due to the chieftaincy title he received in Borgu Kingdom. President Conte and Asiwaju Tinubu have enjoyed years of business relationship that the Nigerian political warhorse is honoured to have a permanent lodge in the West African country’s government house.

Aside this, Guinea Conakry is one of African countries used by the ex-governor whenever the need arose for him to take rest and shy away from the demanding Nigerian public that daily throng his abode to seek consultation, political or other forms of assistance and support.

With his friend’s fate uncertain under the military custody, Tinubu, who himself is reportedly recuperating in his London home, from where he is receiving some top Nigerian political actors is sure to be concerned and one is certain that if there is any lever to pull, the Asiwaju will most certainly do everything to save his business partner now.

What will Tinubu do; will he pull the strings to marshal international pressure to get Conte released; can he get him reinstated to his seat or will he plead with the Nigerian leader, President Muhammadu Buhari to pave way for his business partner to secure asylum in Africa’s most populous country? Only time will tell!

Bandits have released five among the 73 kidnapped students of Government Day Secondary School Kaya in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Police confirmed that the students were kidnapped on Wednesday.

A former councilor of Kaya ward, Yahaya Kaya, confirmed the release of the five students to Newsmen on Thursday.

Kaya said his daughter, Amina, was among the students released by the bandits but didnt say if he pays ransom for their release.

According to him, the five students were taken back to their hometown Kaya, around 01am on Thursday.

He maintained that they were all in good health.

The military on Thursday said, counter insurgency efforts of Nigerian troops through kinetic and non-kinetic operations have compelled more than 5,890 terrorists comprising foot soldiers and their commanders have surrendered with their families to own troops in the North East Zone.

Acting Director Defence Media Operations, Brig. General Bernard Onyeuko made this known during a press briefing at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

Onyeuko revealed that a total of[b] 565 Boko Haram Terrorist’s comprising 3 Commanders, 4 Amirs, 5 Nakibs and 5 cattle rustling specialists, [/b]out of the surrendered Boko Haram Terrorist’s and their family members were handed over to the Borno State Government in Maiduguri for further management after thorough profiling.

He added that troops Operation Hadin Kai with the support of the Air Component through air interdiction missions, inflicted heavy casualties on no fewer than 48 of the terrorists, 20 arrested including fighters and commanders were neutralized and their logistic base and facilities including 3 gun trucks were destroyed in the process.
"A cumulative total of 52 assorted arms and 1,977 rounds of 7.62mm assorted calibre ammunition including AK-47 and FN rifles with magazines, hand grenades, commando mortar guns, locally fabricated rifles, Dushka anti-aircraft guns, Dane guns and Nigerian Police rifles among other items were recovered from surrendered terrorists and operations within the period.

"A total of 7 terrorists collaborators/informants and logistics suppliers were arrested and handed over to appropriate prosecuting agencies for necessary actions.

Onyeuko added that 15 armed bandits and 2 armed robbers were neutralized, 13 bandits informants arrested, 15 motorcycles were recovered, 2 AK 47 rifles recovered, 33 kidnap victims rescued, 66 criminal elements arrested and some vandalized railway sleepers/tracks were recovered within the period in focus by troops of operation Hadarin Daji in Zamfara, Sokoto and Kastina States.

The military spokesperson, Brig. General Bernard Onyeuko also said, troops of Operation Safe Haven arrested 4 suspected Sara Suka members, arrested 20 persons involved in the attack and killing of 26 travellers at Rukuba Town in Jos North LGA of Plateau State.

He noted that three criminal namely Messrs Mujahid Isah, Kamal Isah and Abdulrahman Jibrin in connection with attack on Mr Aliyu Mukhtar at Dilimi, Jos North LGA of Plateau State. The suspects are undergoing interrogation and would be handed to the relevant security agency for further action.

He revealed that, on 29 August 21, troops of Operation Safe Haven along Ganawuri-Manchok road in Riyom LGA of Plateau State on stop and search intercepted one Mr Francis Achi on motorcycle with 3 unfinished locally fabricated revolver rifles concealed in a sack. The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation.

Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke on 14 August 2021 repelled armed bandits’ attacks on villages, destroyed 3 criminal camps and recovered 23 rustled cows and 3 motorcycles and arrested 9 cultists who had been terrorizing Utonkon community in Ado LGA of Benue State.
He added that on the 15 August 2021, troops carried out raid and clearance operations on criminals’ hideouts at Terr village in Sankera Uyum Council Ward and Ukpam Community in Guma LGA of Benue State and arrested 2 notorious armed robbers named, Mr Aondosoo Aba and Mr Emmanuel Gobo, respectively.

"Troops of Operation Delta Safe discovered and deactivated a total of 33 illegal refining sites with 46 illegal refining units, 94 boiler ovens and 9 reservoirs. Also, a cumulative total of 139 metal storage tanks and 63 dugout pits, all laden with 440.2 barrels and 1,637,500litres of illegally refined AGO as well as 62.2 barrels and 572,000litres of stolen crude oil and shelter stations were discovered and treated accordingly".

He said, troops discovered and immobilized a Cotonou boat laden with 2,000 litres of stolen crude oil. In addition, troops carried out a cordon and search operation around Bonny LGA Recruitment and Empowerment Centre in search of the mastermind of kidnap incidents at Abalamabie Community in Bonny LGA, Rivers State. During the operation, troops arrested a notorious kidnapper identified as Mr Promise aka Bummi, who had been on security forces watch list.

In the same vein, the Military Veterans of the Armed Forces of Nigeria in the various Geo-political Zones of the country, the Chief of Defence staff (CDS) General LEO Irabor affirmed that the Armed Forces of Nigeria remained at the forefront in tackling the myriad of security threat confronting the nation.

CDS expressed his appreciation to the citizen and residents of all the Zone s for genuinely supporting the ongoing intensive clearance operations by troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria towards the restoration of permanent peace. He equally allays fears of the general public on the ongoing mass surrender of Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province ex-fighters.

General Irabor held a security interaction with the retired senior military officers maintaining that the military remains at the forefront of leading the war against every form of criminalities as the Constitution avail the Armed Forces the mandate of supporting the civil authority.

"He stressed that the retired senior officers are the best hands, most qualified in the fight against insecurity and champion of peace and security in the Country. He urged them to join hands with the military to bring lasting peace to the Country.

The Chief of Defence Staff General LEO also visited Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong and traditional rulers of Jebbu Miyango Community the Mbra Ngwe Rt Rev Ronke Aka and that of Anaguta Community HRM Pozo Johnson Jauro Magaji the Uja of Anaguta, where he commiserated with the traditional rulers and the people of those communities on the recent unfortunate incidents in their domains.

Brigadier General Bernard Onyeuko opined that the CDS non-kinetic initiatives in achieving peace and stability in the country. He said, CDS appreciates the continuous sacrifices of the troops in the various theatres of operation across the Country. It salutes their courage, resilience and commitment towards achieving sustainable peace in the Country and thanked the press for their continued support and further encourage all to avail the Armed Forces with credible and timely information,

The Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji of the Nigerian Air Force in a 3-day intensive military operation has launched air offensive against bandits in North West Nigeria.

NAF Spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

Gabkwet revealed that in NAF’s resolve to rid the region of banditry, the air component focused on locations with high concentration of bandits such as South of Dansadau town and North of Kwiambana Forest Reserves in Zamfara State.

He specifically said that on 2 August 2021, the Nigerian Air Force surveillance platforms overhead these locations locked on armed bandits on bikes moving into Kwiambana Forest Reserves.

Gabkwet explained that diligent tracking of the bandits’ movement led the platforms to unearth extensive and well-concealed terrorists’ camps with numerous huts.

"Accordingly, using a mix of NAF Alpha Jet, MI 171 and Agusta 109 strike helicopters, bombardment of the camps commenced on the evening of 2 August 2021 in liaison with ground troops forming forces around the targeted areas of the forest.

"Through these coordinated attacks, over 78 bandits were neutralized, and their camps destroyed.

He noted that, Informants and locals in the general vicinity also confirmed an exodus of surviving bandits from the forest.

Further ISR by the air component confirmed a total abandonment of the camp by the surviving bandits.

In the meantime, the NAF 404 Force Protection Group stationed in Kaduna, on Wednesday, arrested a 48-year-old bandits’ logistics runner named, Aminu Saminu, around the Kaduna International Airport.

Gabkwet said, during interrogation, the culprit revealed that he usually disguises as a charcoal businessman to purchase food and other items for bandits at Bamba Village in Igabi Local Government Area (West of Kaduna International Airport).

"Useful information by the runner was availed to the Air Component that has engineered focus around the Kaduna International Airport environment and other areas with high bandits’ concentration", he said.

Osinbajo once said, "The quality of a country is not based on the number of men and women in its armed forces nor is it determined by faithfulness to the application of the principles of zoning and or the allocation formulae of political offices, which in Nigeria is actually a euphemism for sharing public funds".

African Democratic Congress (ADC) supporters, members and candidates in both Ondo east and west local government areas of Ondo state have rejected the outcome of the yesterday’s election, calling for the prosecution of identified individuals no matter how highly placed they are in the society.

This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday during a press briefing chaired by Mr. Anthony Adeniranye, the Director General of the Dr. Felix Akinola aka Obama campaign team for the Ondo West L.G.A.

Adeniranye mentioned that there have been visible threats before the election day but the leader of the party, Dr. Abiola Makinde the MHR representing Ondo East/West federal constituency had instructed his massive followers to stay away from violence because of what he represents, but the election wasn’t free for all as the ruling party had secured the services of both paid thugs that were recruited from both within and outside Ondo kingdom and the services of the NURTW within Ondo city.

Adeniranye said, “Several accusing finger were also pointed at the Ondo division of the Nigeria Police to be an accomplice in the electoral fraud. Names of Dr. Jibayo Adeyeye a commissioner in Ondo State and a son of a former High Chief and Hon Landmark Oladiji were consistently mentioned by the indigenes of Ondo town to be the identified sponsors of these crimes”.

Also, Chairman Ondo ADC Raphael Owolabi said, “This is the height of irresponsibility especially at a period when people of Ondo state are clamoring for meaningful and effective government in place. We wont let this go unspoken, we wont let this be swept under the carpet like it has always been done as we have the unflinching support of the electorates”.

Owolabi reiterate that, Ondo ADC rejected INEC result and call for declaration of ADC candidate in Ondo east and west winner in line with the wishes of the voters.

The last Saturday’s local government election was conducted by the Ondo State Independent National Electoral Commission to elect the local government council chairmen and councilors which was greeted and mared by large scale violence,votes destruction, thuggery, brigandage and massive shootings before and during the exercise.

The APC candidates in both Ondo West and East LGAs were declared winners.

Last year, more than half a million women were diagnosed with cervical cancer, which is the fourth-most frequent cancer in women, according to the World Health Organization.

An Israeli startup says it has new technology that could be lifesaving for women — a simple, inexpensive device called an EVA system that a doctor connects to a cellphone, allowing it to detect cervical cancer.

The device uses an algorithm to determine a patient’s risk of cancer by comparing images to a database.

The company claims it’s more reliable than a doctor performing a traditional colposcopy to ID abnormal potentially cancerous cells.

The device takes images of the cervix, using a smartphone enclosed in a waterproof case, and those images are then examined for any abnormalities. The EVA Colpo has it’s own light source and a camera that magnifies 16 times.

A doctor will still need to use a speculum to dilate the cervix. The device then allows the doctor to examine the cervix on the phone’s screen in real time in detail.

Dr. Sonnie Kim-Aschchi was skeptical at first about the device, but after doing some research, she said the EVA device is a game changer.

“You don’t have to get a biopsy. There’s no discomfort and you don’t have to wait for the result,” Kim-Aschchi said. “A lot of times while people are waiting, that’s when people fall out of the follow-ups.”

The EVA can also be used by a primary care doctor, increasing access to a potentially lifesaving test.

“(It’s) a lot cheaper than the regular colposcopy machine for the doctor’s office, and it’s mobile so you can go to a small clinic,” Kim-Aschchi said. “It’s more access to the patient, cost-effective, more accurate and less painful because you don’t have to get a biopsy and you don’t have to wait for the results.”

Colposcopies are usually the next step after you have an abnormal PAP smear.

The EVA system is not cleared yet for use by the Food and Drug Administration for diagnostic purposes but can be used as visualization tool. The company hopes to have FDA approval within a year or two.

The EVA system is already being used in 29 countries, including Kenya, India and Cambodia.

The President, Emprowess Life Skills and Indo-Naija Yoga Fest, Mr. Sanjayvipul Srivastava stated this at the 2017 Indo-Naija Yoga Festival which took place at the Indian Embassy Lagos with about 400 Nigerians along with 15 other nationalities living in Lagos including diplomats of various countries.

Sanjayvipul added that, "Yoga offers an effective method of managing and reducing stress, anxiety, and depression, and numerous studies demonstrate the efficacy of yoga on mood-related disorders".
Mr. Pravin Kumar, the General Secretary of Indo-Naija Yoga Fest 2017 also said, “the event was a great success and I am happy that Nigerians not only welcomed but conceived our thought on Yoga. Which was the sole purpose of the event.”

He said, “We want to promote yoga to families and encourage in the country to start the day with yoga which does not take more than 20 minutes a day and you can easily spare it.”

According to reports, about 2 billion people in the world are the regular practitioners but we are not happy with it we want all 7.2 billion people to be practicing yoga consciously.”

The fest was attended by counsellor in Lagos, Mr. Rakesh Sharma and he emphasized that now the modern science has started accepting Yoga and even United Nations has started observing 21st June as International Yoga day.

He also extended message from His Excellencey High Commissioner of India in Lagos "We want all nationals in Nigeria to benefit from this and start Practicing Yoga for Peace, harmony and prosperity.
The Yoga demonstration started with lightening of ceremonial lamp and prayer for all world health & prosperity.
Yoga Competition judged by way of performance to reach final stage of Asana, perfect posture of Asana, exhibition of Asana Method, time stayed in Asana and returning to original posture.
In the first group, Anoushaka Srivastava became 2nd runner up, Megha Dokania became 1st runner up while Ms. Saloni Khule became the Winner of the Yoga Competition in the First group. The second group started with a beautiful performance by Madoka Yoga Well being Initiative and a family group comprising of Rajendra Srinivas, Ramyashree Rajendra and Shreekasa Rajendra.
The second group with certificate of participants, Mr. Mukesh Kimar became 2nd runner up, Rajendra Family became 1st Runner up while Mr. Kachi from Abia State Nigeria became Winner of the competition in the second group.
There was award presentation given to outstanding Yoga enthusiasts and committed members of Afro Asian Development Community as well as sponsors of the event and there was bouncing castles, food games for kids and adults that graced the occasion
Also, a member of the organising committee Mr. Bimad Raj Sharan Sinha explained the importance of Yoga, its combination of mind body and soul and hence a way of holistic living which is the need of the humanity.
He said, "Several literature reviews have been conducted that examined the impact of yoga on specific health conditions, including cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, cancer, and anxiety".
