It think is very much possible. You just need to initiate the process of filling the ds 160 and get ur app id which will be d same as d confirmation code required to book. u can even change this after booking. by entering the confirmation code of a new ds 160 you wish to present on d interview day.

Alternatively, if u have som1 in the us with a gtb naira mastercard, transfer the naira equivalent of $207 (about N33k) to his/her account.

The person will draw $200 from any atm with mastercard logo (Chase bank is quite popular) with a transaction charge of $7, buy a money order of $200 and follow the instructions on the form I-901.

You can fill the form I-901 yourself and scan to the person. He/she will print the form, attach the money order and send to the designated address in the instructions page.

Subsequently, u will check your SEVIS payment status online, and when ur receipt is ready (usually in a week or less) u'll print the online copy (tenable at the embassy) while u wait for the original to be mailed to your friend &/or u.

I just hope dis is simple enough for u?

What really determines the earliest time in which one can travel?

A. Intended date of travel filled on ds160
B. Resumption date

In other words, what then should be filled on the intended date of travel on the ds160?

A. Sch resumption date
B. 1 month before A

Although I'm not sure if my inquiry is clear, I'll appreciate any input. Thanks.

I dont think you can change any info on your ds 160 ,having printed your confirmation letter.And ,how could you possibly fill a new one,if you dont pay another MRV fee?you could choose to explain to the VO when your interview comes up.

I have known my sevis number and school code since July and my sevis fee reciept being mailed since Oct 12 but I couldn't do anything because my IA didn't tell me when she is going to send the I-20 [/b]and I can't pick date without know that. She is damn lazy, she always refuse replying mails [b]until I started calling the graduate office directly. She wasn't in the office throughout this week while another person was filling in and mailing for her. What I mean by all my doc is the I-20 which I was told was just mailed on Thursday. Concerning Nov dates nothing like that for the past 3 days that I've been searching, yesterday afternoon I got Jan 25, throughout the evening it was Feb 2. 1am (midnight) it was Feb 2, 2am - Feb 2, 3am - Feb 2, 6.30am  until now as we speak - Feb 7. So, am I joking? This date stuff is a bullsh*t! I don't doubt the fact that they may still open but for now, there is no Jan let alone Nov and Dec.

Your IA's is truly the cause of ur headache. Had u known, u wld av started contacting the graduate office directly since July.

February ke I've a strong belief that dates will still open. continue checking, u can give someone u trust (maybe abroad) ur details to help u check too. and when u don't find by the end of this month (within the next 5-6 days) pls take the necessary steps to get an expedited schedule. Hope u r not specific about a particular embassy i.e. lag or abj?? (well, of course not).

Like I said I booked around Sept 25 and Oct 4 was available then, for lag after I had earlier checked that only dec dates were open.

@imperiouxx et al, u might not need all ur docs to get to u before u book. if ur I-20's ready,

- ask for your sevis id and sch code and pay ur sevis fee.

If u'v done these already, then u can go ahead with applying and booking a date now and i think u shd b able to get even Nov dates

when i booked, there were dates even as close as within 9days.

Yes. My I-20 was updated to reflect the scholarship and I have a separate offer letter for the assistantship.

Do you think this changes the scenario?

I don't think thats nice. Anyway, were you able to secure anything like assistantship to cut down the financial loads? I'm paying only $1,500 per year because I was given graduate assistantship. Luck me!

@imperiouxx: Yea I secured both a partial scholarship and a partial assistantship which both cancel out ALL my tuition for any semester as far as I hold these two awards at any particular semester. Aside these, am also getting something like a "paid leave" where I work which is more than enough to cater for my living expenses.

@herself: I'm not sure u have the correct form for the SEVIS payment. The form to be filled for SEVIS payment is I-901(enclosed), it doesn't require those details giving u headache and can be downloaded online.

If you have someone in the US that can help you out, what you need do is:

1) Download the I-901
2) Fill as appropriate
3) Print and scan to whoever (Bleep)is helping you out
4) Bleep will make a b.o or chk of 200, attach it to the form and send to the designated address in the instructions page.
5) Go to www.fmjfee.com regularly to check status of your receipt (it is usually ready within 1wk of payment)
6) Click check status
7) Enter your details and click check status
Cool If it is ready you will get a message with a link 'view' to view your receipt (this receipt can be used as payment evidence at the embassy)
9) Print receipt.
10) Ask Bleep to mail the original to you.

I hope this makes sense.

P.S. I hope you have your school code

trust me its not by day of the week. it will always depend on your presentation and packagin, last time i went a reasonable num had good outcomes. a friend was denied because
he was a rookie, the vo didnt ask who was sponsoring him. Just asked for his monthly income(which was not so gud) and he expected that as a question but it never came up.
