Kay-Dee:Herself 1) Yea, Kaydee's quite right but u really don't even need it scanned (doubt they will do that anyway). U can contact the appropriate office in your school (usually int'l admissions/int'l student services) to ask for your SEVIS ID and school code. That's all you need to pay your SEVIS fee. 2) You do not need to pay your SEVIS fee before booking an appointment date although you must have it paid and your original receipt before appearing at the embassy. What you need do now is: - Get the necessary details on your I-20 as explained above - Fill your ds 160 - Pay for your visa appointment at gtbank - schedule your appointment. Here, you must make sure you choose a date by when you must have received your I-20 & original SEVIS payment receipt. As at Mon, Sep 26 (when I booked) there were enough dates for Lagos even as early as Oct 4. P.S I just got some info that Mon's & Fri's are bad choices but I don't know how/if dat's true anyway. Luckily mine's a Thursday. I hope this helps? |
mozo:I think it's d website. also got d same error msg |
Hello house, Was a bit surprised when I read that imperiouxx does not even have his Visa yet and his contributions have really helped a lot of people to obtain theirs. I pray God will grant you yours cos you have been so useful to this thread. I also read that there's a way to check for available dates (I think?). Is this possible without having submitted the ds 160?? Could someone pls clearly tell how? Thanks |
imperiouxx:Also, my undergraduate transcripts , |
@imperiouxx yes , good question! Toefl result, which is more recent than GRE dat has Mar 23. P.S my elder sis reg'd toefl for me, it's kinda messy, aint it? |
Hello house, could anyone help me with the following situation I am about to apply for an interview date but i have some serious concerns. Mar 23 is my true dob as shown in my birth certificate and passport. All my other credentials show mar 24 which is my twin's dob (we are two hours apart) cos my parents induced mar 24 in all my docs till my university. Does dis inconsistency indicate a potential red flag ?thanks for your contributions. |
Please what is an I-20? , ok that was a joke just to verify if this forum is still meant for people like us. Veterans, thanks for the admonishment. Cheers everyone! |
imperiouxx:Thanks for the encouragement. Are you in (going to) TX? |
imperiouxx:Thanks imperiouxx. what are the other likely questions? |
Guys, evidently, this is my first post in this forum although I have been reading most of your posts for some time and I must say here that this is the most educative forum I have ever seen. Thumbs up! I crave your indulgence to help me take a look at the below frequent/probable questions asked with my prepared responses and thanks to kindly revert with your comments. VO: How many schools did you apply to? ME: Four (4) VO: Name them ME: Colorado Schools of Mines (CSM), West Virginia University (WVU), University of Louisiana at Lafayette(ULL) and Texas A & M University, Kingsville (TAMUK) VO: Which one(s) gave you admission? ME: WVU, ULL & TAMUK VO: Why did you choose TAMUK? ME: Out of these three, they are the only ones that runs the Chemical Engineering programme in a combined department of Chemical and Natural Gas Engineering which offers me a greater flexibility in considering natural gas as an area of specialty, compared to the other two. Secondly TAMUK is part of a Texas A & M system which is recognized as one of the best school of engineering in the world because of their high research activity, reputable faculty and excellent graduate products. They also offered me funding ![]() VO: Texas A & M has about nine campuses. Why Kingsville, why not other campuses? ME: Well, only a few of the other campuses offer Chemical Engineering at the graduate level. I indeed considered the College Station campus which is actually the first and the biggest, but, in addition to the Chemical-Natural Gas flexibility at Kingsville, I had a better rapport with their professors than those at College Station and so found their application procedure much easier. VO: Why the US? ME: Schools in the US are the most research-driven compared to those of any other country. A US qualification is well recognized throughout the world especially in Nigeria. VO: Why Texas, why not other states? ME: Due to the large deposits of mineral resources in Texas, particularly crude oil, the State provides an environment where real life industrial situations and challenges become major sources of the high research activities in my field, within the schools therein. Also, the Texan climate is very suitable for a tropical Nigerian like me to easily adapt. VO: What are your plans after your programme? ME: Get employed in the Nigerian Energy sector where the need for my expertise cannot be over exaggerated. Get a PhD after a few years and then become a consultant by setting up on my own. |
