An excerpt from the latest bill on immigration reform from http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c113:S.1:... (5) permit and encourage individuals who earn an advanced degree from one of our world-class universities to remain in the United States, rather than using that education to work for our international competitors; Hmmm ... I hope say one kind long thing no go enter this film |

walex57: Just as Eduson rightly said...The school is not accredited and according to wikipedia it only has "bogus" claims that are not true, so my bro...run away from that school as fast and far as you can...there are a lot of better schools here...just relax, take your time and fish them out...all the best in your search....e be like say we go put that state "Virginia" for our black book ooo...first it was VIU now it's UNV...hmmm..Virginia, Virginia...In fact, I think I can remember a period when the US embassy specifically warned students not to apply to the University of Northern Virginia because they lacked some required accreditations. |
Good job Imperiouxx! |
virgin ice: Or u use dis method too: I was registered by a frnd in US. I downloaded d form, filled n sent to him. E cald netherland and did fone registration for me (gave all my details via fonecal) from wat e said and his own a/c was deducted as per some transfer. U guys can try dat, I wrote it @ firstlogic last sept. GoodluckYes, of course this way always works but what I suggested was for those who want to know if gtb mastercard works or not, probably cos they want to save themselves the time/stress of having to look for somebody who is ready to help them here. |
About registering for GRE, as at 2011 one could use the GTB naira m a s te r c a r d for GRE registration. I did it for several people then, but now, ETS does not provide the option of online registration for candidates testing in Nigeria. This means that even if you send f u n ds to a friend here in the US to help you register with his/her c r e d i t card, online registration would still not be possible for candidates testing in Nigeria. But then, there is a way out, during your registration online, select Ghana as your testing country, then proceed to search for First logic Abuja or Lagos as your testing location/centre, and use a VALID d e b i t c.a.r.d to pay your fees. This works well with US bank/institutions issued cards and I am thinking since ETS/GRE.org accepted GTBank m a s ter c a r d when online registration was opened to candidates testing in Nigeria, then maybe and just maybe it could still be accepted. |
imperiouxx: WRITE THE DEPARTMENTAL HEAD AND THE GRADUATE COORDINATOR. They are always happy to answer students inquiries.I don't advise people on US admission without saying these words. |
xtus: Kindly list the other schools in other states dat do gives internationals in-state tuitionIt is not a function of "states" but of individual sch systems with respect to the types of funding available. Like anonymous has said, some schs offer merit based scholarships or assistantships that automatically qualifies one for an instate tuition or even a full tuition waiver (as in the case of most assistantships). While some other schs offer other types of financial support including instate tuition, tuition waivers (partial or full) on a financial need basis. Also to note that funding availability may also depend on your intended program of study. The bottom line is, as long as you may find some pointers here helpful, you would need to do more research because no one can provide a comprehensive list for you. Having said these, Texas A&M Kingsville offers merit based scholarships that also qualifies one for instate tuition for at least a year. The conditions for "merit" are mild, so almost every international gets it. |
Probably more details on the immigration issue (from Webstradamus' link)... http://thehill.com/blogs/hillicon-valley/technology/279227-bipartisan-group-of-senators-to-introduce-high-skilled-immigration-bill |
webstradamus: Comprehensive immigration reform on the way .... join the STEM train while you can ![]() See close monitoring! And my wife thinks I'm the only one doing this. ![]() |
Thanks Big Francis. |
jimtosam: Try and apply for Graduate Assistantship in all the schools you've applied to.No, Georgia is not the only state that gives internationals in-state. Some schs give it even immediately one resumes as long as the requirements are met. |
Square65: I just checked again and am confirming that only two parts each of Grubers and Barron's were sent. Thanks to send the remaining parts. You are truly appreciated.Big Francis, how far? |
bigfrancis21: How many parts do you have? There are meant to be 4 parts to it. I sent you two mails, each mail containing two parts each. Check and get back to me.I just checked again and am confirming that only two parts each of Grubers and Barron's were sent. Thanks to send the remaining parts. You are truly appreciated. |
Big Francis, Is there supposed to be some parts of the files that am missing? Parts 3 and 4, perhaps. cos the extraction says files are incomplete. |
ferdimako: Honestly I just saw those this morning.I've been busy with work and my finals. I don't look at gender before I comment. I just realized it wasn't the school everyone is being advised to stay away from. I have apologized.Go and sin no more! |
webstradamus: I was looking out for your comment ![]() Some people just "manufacture" information on a whim for public consumption. |
ferdimako: I think the school itself is a crap. You cannot be more ignorant on this subject. |
bigfrancis21: Sent.God bless you sire. |
I think I understand why one would naturally and mistakenly use LO for Louisiana instead of LA. Maybe it's cos when one sees/hears L.A., the first thing that comes to mind is Los Angeles. Or has it really been changed? |
Big Francis, pls kindly send your version of GRE and TOEFL materials to tha65thsquare@yahoo.com. thanks! |
Haha, I also felt lied to when I arrived TX. What makes TX and maybe some of the southern states "feel" colder than it is during this period, is that it is usually windy. The wind contributes to the "real skin feel". For the new TX arrivals, I'll wait till summer to hear different testimonies from you. I felt sorry for the muslims during the Ramadan period, and to add petrol, they didn't break until 9pm! Meanwhile, like Webstradamus et al in the North, we, on the mountains, are also currently enjoying this short period of warmth (my place is currently btw 1 and -3) praying that it stays this way till winter fades. I can't believe I don't have my heater on at the moment. Me sef don dey turn Panda o! |
webstradamus: BRAINS Act maybe ... the STEM Jobs Act is too elitist. First it segregates institutions, secondly it says PhD first and then MS grads will hustle for the remaining visas. Me I no wan do Ph.D so that one no favor meYea I was actually looking for this one, it also seems the best to me but the truth remains that except any of these is bipartisan, they may never see the light of the day. |
Just pondering on which one would be more beneficial IF approved a) STEM Jobs Act http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d112:HR06429:@@@L&summ2=m& b) BRAINS Act http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d112:SN03553:@@@L&summ2=m& |
