I  broke up with my ibo girlfriend after reading this thread, i realized its safer to stay close to your own, so going forward, its strictly yoruba. There is so much bad belle it makes me wonder if we have a palestinian/israeli situation vis a vis ibo/yoruba, No she ain't the love of my life,  it was in the early stage.

Are you kidding me tombola?  Do you have the basic understanding of the english language? Because if you do, i expect from you the exact opposite of what you wrote in response to kobo.

davidylan:
Simple error that is very frequent from pretty much every poster . . . the only problem is the "s" placed after "pay".
You dont need the "?" . . . this is an informal forum. Most times i skip it.

- The first one was wrong - "am" should be "i'm" . . . and i already mentioned that.

- "like you lot" is CORRECT. Please expand your vocabulary. Example - I'm amused by you lot.

from the Websters Dictionary - 4. A separate portion; a number of things taken collectively;
all objects sold in a single purchase transaction; as, a
      lot of stationery; -- colloquially, sometimes of people;
as, a sorry lot; a bad lot
.

- "I have a meet with the" is also CORRECT if meet is used as a noun there. Again expand your vocabulary . . . what if i said something like this . . . "i have an appointment at a high school meet"? Would that be wrong?

She may however have meant to say "meeting" and simply forgot to add the "ing".
Thanks man! i visit here a lot because i like reading posts from smart people like Davidylan, Debosky , kobo, smthing and  some others. And at the risk of joining issues with that thing calling himself Tayo-D. He should know that it's not all about the intent , rather the approach. He should learn that you can still bring notice to peoples mistake and still get a thank you response from the other party instead of trying to show how good he was when he was only being a 33 yr old brat, i couldn't believe his age after checking out his profile , he had been acting and talking like a teenager. Someone (Davidylan) with a better and wider grasp of the english  language is advising you to broaden your horizon.

@Tayo-D

I knew you were stupid, i just didn't realize how much. Before you accuse me of seeking attention, did you notice how long i have been on NL and how many posts i have? 22- that tells a lot about someone seeking attention- does it not?. I come on here mostly to read intelligent debate and exchanges. But i have issues with retards like you that make a profession of putting other people down. Clueless slowpoke talking about having a life. You have none!, lol

this is a blogging forum if people cant feel free to express themselves here where can they? seems like you dont even live in nigeria, "may be a wrong assumption" but her standard of english has not got anything to do with this thread, if you are interested in improving english standards then go to nigeria

All she wants is some advice almost 70% of the threads on this site never reply straightforward to a topic all she wants is some advice people should not criticise her english, are the people employing her stupid or what they will always find ut f she is crap

I am just frustrated at how people never answer a ? directly on this forum all they do is criticise something about a topic. these are the attributes that hold nigerians back.  If people dont have a response to the topic they should not talk just keep quiet and let people with reasoable and constructive responses reply,

People are arguing abt standard of english, the poster has not even been back like she really cares what you think about her standard of english.
Thanks Joxiri for the nice response to Tayo D. Someone should tell the guy to get off his high horse and like someone rightly pointed out- this is more of a Nigerian thing ,always wanting to speak better english than the English and we can see where that has taken us. yoruba, ibo and hausa languages have been so bastardized, we cant speak our indigenous languages very well neither will we be absolute Masters in the art of speaking a foreign language no matter your level of grammatical construct Mr Tayo D. The poster was apparently in a relaxed mode and just expressing herself and you on the other hand were busy picking at whatever you can pick at and you even look idiotic at some point because you were trying to correct things she rightly said which are mostly common slangs.
I  have had the privilege of being taught by some of the smartest professors in the field of experimental mechanics and you know what Mr Tayo D? these guys are mostly Asians and Indians and their command of the English Language according to you will be appalling, these are guys that are being revered here in the U.S because of their contributions to their research field. Pls. go get a head, dumbass!

This is just retarded! I wonder why people get so overly defensive of religious men. We are all human and as such are prone to making mistakes and Adeboye is not above that. So why cant people be allowed to critique him without being called names and sons of Lucifer.

pre-marital sex is fornication, Trini do u read ur bible? if u do you will see that, sex is  spiritual and as mrpataki said it is  a sin.
marriage bed should be undefiled, we should stop deceiving ourselves, the bible says in the last days people will turn verses to their favor and interpret it in ways that will justify what thy do.

sex is meant for married people, if you are commited to a man u are not married to and u are having sex with him, you are indulging in sin
Sex is meant for married people? what about people that decide never to get married. I am sorry to say this but some of these points are retarded and they definitely show the warped influence religion has had in the normal thought process of many. I absolutely have no issues with how you decide to live your life nor am i saying religion is not good but pls climb down the mountain top and stop speaking as if you know it all.

Negro_Ntns:
Here comes Ibime sidekick. . . grin

.com is not limited to America, true but using America as example does not mean I limited location.  What do you want me to do, list all the countries in the world where .com is applicable?

Look in the dnetsystems address, in London.  Doesn't that conclude that .com is universal?  I had the Chatsworth address associated with the .com and knew it was located in London before I came out and talked about the example.  That's not an issue.

Correct, I was wrong on saying the .php is in Phillipines and that's because on instant it was what occurred to me but after reviewing the location of the owner and the server identifier I saw the error.  It is not Phillipines.  I am not afraid to admit error and I won't back off when my point is right.

The data and charts you are looking at on this post has been manipulated.  It was exported from JAMB (Let me use the correct word before scoping begins - it was "downloaded" from JAMB site) and engineered.

I insist if anyone disputes my claim I want that person to submit the running data sets with its limits.  There is now way you could conduct motion study and not have range and specified limits; no way of getting around it - you will end up with in-accurate numbers.   If the dataset is available then the limits are also available, unless there is some monkey business here and that's my upset.

If you probe the IP address associated with the .php link, it does not resolve the address for you.  I could not ping it either but then I was able to telnet to the server that hosted it.  Again, I made error when I wrongly concluded this was a Phillipines site.  Debo is right it is not, nonetheless he attacked my position unfairly and in a way to reveal error than he was concerned about allmy refutations on the false data and chats.

In view of that, I still stand by my statement, this is fraud!
Some of us are actually paying close attention to what you are saying, And you make a lot of sense. However Debosky is one of the smart posters on NL and i read his responses to issues but you have made a good case that has triggered much curiosity as to the source of the said data. However you should try to ignore some other posters on here that have nothing meaningful to post except  to hear themselves chatter, Don't take them personal.

Meanwhile even if the data were authentic, whats the point being made here? To show that the SE and SS are better educationally than the rest of the country? Well i ask myself what is there to celebrate in the Nigerian  tertiary educational system. Me think the whole system needs a serious and emergency overhaul anyway. In a country where the education Minister argued that 80% of University graduates are unemployable as at yesterday, http://www.vanguardngr.com/content/view/29609/43/ -

If the Minister happens to be right- then i suppose that graduates from the SE and SS part of the country will constitute a larger chunk of the unemployable army of Graduates in the country too.
Well- i happen not to believe what some Minister says or the Federal Government for that matter- They have proven time after time that they have no clue as to what the real problem is.
So guys, Lets stop gloating over vain stuff and talk about something else more educative , entertaining and less divisive.

But you must not try this at home when there is a religious strife. Chances are that you will be slaughtered by your own brethren because as a yoruba moslem you are not considered quite holy enough. This is not a theorem. It is a fact that was again proven recently in Jos.

Kobojunkie:
I keep saying this over and over. The problem in Nigeria is not a lack of ideas, nor is it a lack of man power or opportunities. We have all these, in abundance. What we lack is enough people with the drive to see things actually change for good. Now when I say enough people, I mean ENOUGH. So

So when do you plan to start killing them? Lead by example!

Start now!!
Well i understand most of your points except for the part suggesting that i lead by example by starting the killing personally,  Well Bro,  i am not suggesting individual acts of killing ,  that will be murder-I am not that dumb. What i had in my head was a law to be put in place that stipulates death sentence for corruption just like it is for armed robbery.
And lastly ,  i think we have more than enough people with the drive to see things actually change for good,  what we lack and what we have never had is to have these people in the position of power to actually effect changes. No matter how much drive you have- if you are not in a position of power to put it to effective use, of what use is that drive except of course for personal success,

Thor:
The problem is that most of the Nigerians living in the UK and the US work in menial, un-skilled  jobs such as cleaning, road sweeping, burger bars and driving buses etc.

Normally the white people do not want those type of jobs when times are good and are happy that Africans fill the posts. But we all know that in times of recession, the immigrants will be forced out of their jobs to make way for unemployed local human resource.

This has a positive effect that the Africans are forced to return to their native countries to find work.
The thing is that i used to think like you until i relocated to the U.S. I don't know much about the U.K because i have never lived there but i can tell you for a fact that the proportion of Nigerians working odd jobs and those in the professional field vis a vis the U.S general population is the same. And you know what? Most of the Nigerians doing Menial jobs are those with no legal status,  overstayed visiting visas and stuff like that. If they happen to have work permit - don't be shocked that Nigerians are more likely to be in professional fields than any other class of immigrants in the U.S because we are one of those with the highest level of education.
check out this quote from an article in  the Houston Chronicle
"Although they make up a tiny portion of the U.S. population, a whopping 17 percent of all Nigerians in this country held master's degrees while 4 percent had a doctorate, according to the 2006 American Community Survey conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau. In addition, 37 percent had bachelor's degrees."
And here is the link to that effect http://isteve..com/2008/05/nigerians-are-most-educated-nationality.html

PoliticsRe: Lagos: Opulence In The Midst Of Poverty (NYTimes) by stalliontp(m): 7:32pm On Dec 27, 2008
How about we clean up the whole country? stable and dependable electricity, potable water and good roads. Lets just start with those and we would be shocked how the country will transform from the slum it is now to a proper African setting. Mind you - In the process of cleaning up Nigeria and providing these basic amenities - Very few will be jobless because there is so much to clean up. And before people start throwing darts at me for suggesting that all folks should become cleaners, Lets take a backseat and imagine a waste management institution saddled with the responsibilities of effectively managing the waste (both human and industrial) being generated daily in that country. Its gonna be huge, Ok?  and Plenty of work.
Coming to the roads- Can you imagine a Ministry that is actually into effectively repairing the existing roads and maintaining them? Can you imagine how many people will be working, Dang!
Water , electricity, Guys if they are serious about fixing stuff (am not even talking about new projects now, just fixing existing infrastructures in place already), Can you imagine how many people will be at work? And Let no one ask me where the money for all these is going go come from. Let them start by KILLING all those stealing public fund from now on, Hey we are morally decadent,  Nigerians are smart and enterprising but sadly we need a strong hand at times to get our azz whooped into line. The Chinese are doing it(executing corrupt officials and look at how far they are going, they have the tendency to be more corrupt than Nigerians),
So coming to the issue on this thread, Its all about supply and demand, As long as there are more people chasing after fewer products, the prices are going to be high regardless of the quality of the product.
Lagos is still the only entity within the Nigerian state that has leaders trying and attempting to fix things(even if the they are still far from being successful.you can see the determination and genuineness),  I commend this and pray for Lagos State and my Country. I love my Country and my heart aches because of where it is today,  Nigerians deserve so much more because we are better and smarter than  so many people and nationals that are getting so much better deal.

Who are those saying they wont return. It has always been relatively easier to make it in nigeria (or anyone's home country) than in the US. At least you can get a good blue chip job with ur first degree. That doesnt come easily in the US.

But to say that people are running back because of the economic crisis, I will have to wait till end of January to confirm that disbelief. I feel a nigerian that is already there can still make it because u know disrespect gets us working. It is more likely people will still be there because it aint all that bad. The economic crisis is going to continue for  another year but running back may not be the solution.

I mean those would probably be the ones that ran off there because of economic issues in nigeria; they can't just run out again due to econo mic issues right? I don't believe that reporter (if he exists)
I noticed that there is almost a  general assumption that all Nigerians that are outside the country did so because they couldn't toughen it out in Nigeria. That is laughable in the sense that I for one used to work in a major oil company in Nigeria,  So i was far from suffering,  However i was thirsty for more knowledge and ways of life, So i came to the U.S to further my education and i am at present working with a major oil firm in Texas. Now i also know so many of my colleagues from Nigeria, we were either in college together back in naija or have worked together, these were great guys doing well for themselves back home in Nigeria and they are doing just great here in the U.S too. So what the Bleep guys?
And coming to you-where did you hear that you cant get a good job with a first degree in the U.S? And if you were referring to Nigerian First degree ,  Well i know many people here with Nigerian first degree with great professional jobs. Dude Your degree is important but it is more about what you have in your head and what you are aware of.

Echidime: Whats wrong with them returning to Naija? People are living and have been living in Naija ever since the creation of this World,so whats the noise all about? Are self impose exilist returning from America more valuable and important than true Nigerians living at home?

All I know is that they can't affect any job in naija, as True nigerians at home know how to manipulate themselves to retain their job even if it means going Diabolic, fetish, cultism and others.

So for me Kosi Wahala,na them go run back to another country as they can't face the challenges here at home.

My only advice to Naija Government is to test them all on arrival to know if they are HIV POsitive or not, anyone found guilty of possesing HIV AIDS should be return to George Bush country,we True Nigerians don't want losers to come here and cut shot our precious lives.
@Echidime (m)- This guy is simply a retard. It is people with your kind of mentality that rule the country , And we are all witnesses to the kind of Nigeria it has become. Shameless slowpoke!
