IbnSultaan:Talk is cheap, don't forget. We've been hearing (never fulfilled) promises of reviving ailing institutions since the days our fathers walked unclad. Be wise!!! |

Good evening house. I'm presently serving in Edo state. Let me say this: your being deployed to Edo state isn't an accident; it is for a purpose. You may soon hear negative tales about serving in the state, but I advice: put on a positive spirit and you will have a smooth service sail. I received a lot of help from this forum while going to camp and it will just be fair rendering any little help I can to you prospective corp members. I will be open to any question you may have pertaining to service in Edo state. (even if I no fit answer am I go telewire my ogas at the top...lol.) But for now: does Edo state govt pay corp members? As at 10:42pm, 31/10/2014, the answer is NO. (this shouldn't discourage or soil your mood though, you will still survive with the much FG gives; moreover, there will always be ways of making money outside govt allowances). Local govts pay between 2 to 5K (paltry abi?) and as much as 100K to our gentlemen doctor corpers. For those in non-public institutions, the LG alawe is not for you; the head of your PPA gives you what (s)he thinks is right (but insist it is within reason and there is an accommodation for you). Camp facilities are not five star; you may start preparing for the worst. But isn't it just for 21 days? (it's an orientation camp, not an orientation hotel, so we were told). Good to pause here. Expecting your questions and/or comments. Good luck with you all in your preparation. |

cuteshantel39: Edo state doesn't pay corpers. 0klocal govts pays |
chucksbadt: Osun State pays:i disagree; Edo pays 100k to doctors. |
lafuria1: Lol, when you have nothing to say they start with where is the evidence but you belive without evidence that APC is behind terrorism in this country, smh. Don't worry yourself my sources said it was APC supporters that beat up the judge.May we know your source, please. |
neenar: "Fayose didn't slap him; his supporters did" Any difference? Oh yeah, rain isn't falling; the sky is just urinating. There is a huge difference. Assuming the judge was killed by those thugs, Fayose would still be innocent, legally speaking, like you and me. |
Demdem: This had never happened in the killer party before and even one of their strong points wherever the opposition party is being criticised.so there were 'more opposition' within the party and they adopted GEJ?' Unless you are saying the opposition are outside the top echelon of the party, in which case they wouldn't have participated in the primaries. |
kasheemawo: Jonathan shd hav allowed primary to hold to test his acceptability by the masses. He is coward.are the masses those that vote at primaries? |
Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria has directed its members in 104 Federal Unity Colleges throughout the country to commence an indefinite strike with effect from Monday next week over non-payment of arrears and entitlements estimated at N1.8bn. A statement on Friday in Abuja by the Secretary-General of ASCSN, Mr. Alade Lawal, said its also involved in the strike were Education Officers in the Federal Ministry of Education and Inspectorate Departments. “Since the management of the Federal Ministry of Education has refused to pay the outstanding salaries and allowances, the teeming members of the union in the Ministry of Education, including those in the 104 Federal Unity Colleges, will embarked on an indefinite strike till the outstanding salaries, promotion arrears, and other entitlements are paid in full. “All strategic stakeholders, such as royal fathers, religious leaders, civil society groups, parents and guardians, old students groups of the Federal Unity Colleges, eminent citizens should prevail on the Federal Government to pay all the outstanding salaries and allowances including promotion arrears instead of diverting attention by calling on the union to call off the strike,” the ASCSN stated. According to Lawal, the decision followed the failure of the Federal Government to pay the memebers their outstanding salaries and promotion arrears as well as other entitlements amounting to about N1.8bn. He stated that the Headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Education as well as the Inspectorate Departments of the Ministry throughout the country would also be under lock and key from Monday. He said, “The issues in dispute include but not limited to non-payment of outstanding promotion arrears for 2007-2010 and the balance of 2011 promotion arrears; promotion arrears for 2012-2013 and unpaid salaries to some staff for July, August, September, and October 2013; “Others are end-of-year incentives; non-payment of 1st 28 days in lieu of hotel accommodation; 2010 Head of Service organised mandatory training allowance, repatriation allowance, Duty Tour Allowance; non-placement of promoted officers, among others.” SOURCE[email]Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria has directed its members in 104 Federal Unity Colleges throughout the country to commence an indefinite strike with effect from Monday next week over non-payment of arrears and entitlements estimated at N1.8bn. phreakabit: Lies! Where are these survivors coming from? Western media always lookung for ways to make Africa and Africans look bad.is there anything u think a man fighting for his life can't do? dey may nt be lies. |
As hospitals in nations hardest hit by Ebola struggle to keep up, desperate patients are turning to the black market to buy blood from survivors of the virus, the World Health Organization warned. The deadliest Ebola outbreak in history has killed at least 2,400 people in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone — the countries most affected by the virus. Thousands more are infected and new cases have emerged in Nigeria and Senegal. Blood from survivors, referred to as convalescent serum, is said to have antibodies that can fight the deadly virus. Though unproven, it has provided some promise in fighting a disease with no approved drug to treat it. “Studies suggest blood transfusions from survivors might prevent or treat Ebola virus infection in others, but the results of the studies are still difficult to interpret,” the WHO said. “It is not known whether antibodies in the plasma of survivors are sufficient to treat or prevent the disease. More research is needed.” Convalescent serum has been used to treat patients, including American aid worker Rick Sacra, who is hospitalized in Omaha, Nebraska. He got blood from Kent Brantly, a fellow American who survived Ebola. Both got infected when they were helping patients in Liberia. But unlike their situation, patients in affected nations are getting blood through improper channels. The illicit trade can lead to the spread of other infections, including HIV and other blood-related ailments. “We need to work very closely with the affected countries to stem out black market trading of convalescent serum for two reasons,” Margaret Chan, WHO’s director-general, said this week. “Because it is in the interest of individuals not to just get convalescent serum without … going through the proper standard and the proper testing because it is important that there may be other infectious vectors that we need to look at.” SOURCE: PUNCH NEWS |
