Good Evening Everyone. Please if I book a flight to a different state other than the state of tourism stated on my ds160 would that be a problem at the port of entry?

PS; This is not my first time in traveling to the US I actually schooled there for 2 years so would like to visit some few places before my place of tourism. Thank you.

Good morning house how can I track the progress of my passport from the embassy after an interview ?
Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Stella91: 8:39pm On May 14, 2022
I paid for our local flight to the embassy
flourishing247:

Call the embassy. Hope you didn't pay for your flight already? You should do that only when your Visa is un your hands.

Good evening Everyone, My family visa interview which included my dependents was rescheduled automatically by the embassy but my dependents was not included in the new date. The date is closer, What should I do as we already booked our flight as a family for the interview and going for vacation.

Thank you so much
Nikanne:

Yes! I did the same. The lady doing the registration didn’t accept at first. After my interview, I explained to the visa officer and she went in and said it was fine but that my baby had to be registered. So we went back to the registration window to get it done

I was unable to add my one year old on my visa schedule as a dependent because her international passport took longer than expected.
Now I booked another appointment for her but the only closer date was 2023. I am planning on taking her to the interview with me to see if they will allow her to join my family appointment. Has any had any luck with this?

Please how many times can one reschedule?
Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Stella91: 9:01pm On Feb 09, 2022
Hello everyone, I tried scheduling a date but kept going to add dependant, it doesn't show the page where you can see dates to schedule.
What might be the problem?

Secondly, I noticed that when I try to reset password to schedule interview It will say "new password sent to email" but end up not coming to the mail.

You can't add her because you would forfeit your current appointment. Just go ahead and book a separate appointment for her and choose the next available date. On your interview day come MAY, go with her and explain to the VO.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know of anyone with success on this?

*FINIS*

*Personal tip:*
Start early, don't be in a haste else you blur your chances. (I took me 3 solid years) prepare well, fast and pray, as a Catholic I had to do some long novenas, avoided all the daughter's of eve that came calling to come to my house and massage me grin

Secondly, guys grace works, but you have to do the work especially your DS160 form (make sure infos rhyme with your previous interview forms), take your time and fill it well. But above all pray, fast and fervently ask for uncommon favour and grace.

While at the US embassy, I noticed that all the embassy staff including the V.O were extremely kind and polite towards me, unlike in my first interview. I went to this interview more spiritually prepared than ever. Only God saw me true. Jesus Christ owes all the credit.

Thanks you all for everything. I can’t thank Fairheart and everyone on NL that has contributed positively enough for all the love and support.

DON'T EVER EVER GIVE UP.

God bless you all

True. Law is a second degree course in the US and thus requires you to have finished an undergrad course for 3 or more years before going for JD.

HolySpiritFire:
Pls great people,
-Do schools in the US still offer undergraduate LLB or Law in Nigerian parlance? I mean for someone that just wrote WAEC or GCE and wish to get a first degree in law from the US?

-If they still do, is any one aware if they do age discrimination for this study? Can they admit people in their thirties for this degree?

-Mostly importantly, if they still do, please kindly share/ recommend good schools that still offer the course if you're privy to that information.

Thanks all for your immense contributions in this thread, you folks are too kind.
God bless.

Cc NigPatriot
Fairheart etc.

PS: I asked, because I have searched and searched and the results I've been seeing so far, says schools in the US don't offer Law/ LLB undergraduate degree programs any more. Instead, they offer JD (Juris Doctor) which requires one to have a first degree first. I don't if this is true or not.

Please your contributions, opinion and suggestions are highly welcomed.
Thank you.

I mistakenly paid for B1/B2 instead of F1/F2 can I use the same receipt number. Can I use it or will I need to pay for another visa fee.

Malone122:
if you made an error just refill a new one that’s all
It should be at most 3 days before your interview and update the new confirmation number in your cgi portal before printing

when I had my visa in 2018 I went with my husband and 2 kids as dependant (F2). My husband was my sponsor and I explained to the VO that he was going to help us settle in and cannot stay because of his work. We all got the visa and that was what he used whenever he came visiting.
Chyjoey:

I agree with you. The problem is that 'coming to visit from time to time' is not F2, that's B1/B2 and that's what I've been trying to communicate.

Infact, applying for an F2 means the F2 bearer is a dependent. In this case, her husband is her sponsor and is also the prospective F2. how can your sponsor be your dependent? That's a denial straight away on an otherwise immaculate application.

The advice is don't apply F2 for the husband. What she needs him for is covered and plausible under B1/B2

Thank you so much. I had my Masters in the US in 2019 and then I had just 2 kids but I have the 3rd one now and was just thinking if it will be different.
My husband will join me for the interview but will be getting a b1/b2 since he will be visiting because of work.

librangyps:

Ofcourse.

No 1. Any deficit or additional costs ....husband is better as your sponsor.

Have a school in mind for them you have researched incase.

Why is your husband not joining you ?

Do you have some funding?

Career progression is also good.

Ok that is the midwest. Good luck

As per the bolded, this is the first time I am hearing of such however, all the students I have met on F-1 visa all got credit cards as a way to start building credit while in school. I am thinking of financing options and I am currently discussing with some furniture stores to see what I can get so that I don't have to change them any time soon. I am trying to work within a reasonable budget for the entire apt.

The reason I said that is, while I was in school and wanted to purchase my car on credit i.e finance it. But I was told by the dealership that it is not allowed on F1 visa. But if you are talking about owning a credit card from stores and all... that is allowed cos I had a couple with some stores.

I didn't buy furnitures from the stores because they are very expensive. I used facebook market place and saw some good furnitures from people who are willing to sell theirs, they are quite affordable and sometimes they will deliver as well. The only new furniture I will recommend buying is your mattress but it all depend on your budget. If you have the money then you can get the ones from the store. I never bought anything in the US using credit because the last time I checked as a student you are not suppose to do that on f2 visa, I didn't want to violate my visa since I knew I will be returning back to Naija.

what state are you moving from in the Northeast?

thejourney200:

Thanks a lot, was considering going south to Georgia, Alabama, or Texas however, I have settled for Texas because I would want a place like home which Houston offers. I was given some good leads by friends who are based in Houston in terms of apartment and I am already in discuss with a few. I have a few questions:
How did you get your furniture and what furniture store did you buy from?
Do you think it is idea to buy all that is needed at once and do installment payments or put it on my credit card (this I don't think is ideal considering that my credit base isn't high which would imply very high utilization)?
Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Stella91: 3:29pm On Jul 25, 2021
I had my masters in the US one of the uni's in the north east as well, after my program I moved to the south- Dallas Texas. The cost of living was lower and got baby sitters for my kids for cheap which was not the case in the north east. But the down side is that it gets really hot in 100 degrees in the summer. Since you work remotely you can consider moving to the south or depending on where you live in the north you can consider nearby state but far from new York and Boston cos those are very expensive.

I hope this was helpful.

thejourney200:
Good evening House,
I am a recent Masters graduate from the US and just got a job on OPT with a firm that sponsors for H1B. The position is a remote position and I am thinking of the best city to settle in terms of low crime rate, low cost, and an average social life for me and my family. I schooled in a city that has no activity in terms of socials (core university city on one part) and a relative high crime rate (in the top 50 nationwide) in the other part of town not where the university is.
For introduction, my job is in the North East however, if possible, I want to avoid the winter cold and besides, most of the cities I have searched has houses that I do not like with very few apartment/condo style housing options which do not have vacant apartments till a few months time.
In addition, what is the chances of saving at least 40% of my earnings (if my net is relatively okay) considering that I have spent all my savings on my education and also, has student loan to start paying off at the beginning of next month? For those who live in the US, please advice me on how best to achieve good savings.
Lastly, I got the Child Care Benefit that started this month and asking the tax company that filed my taxes if it was okay, I was told yes since my child was born in the US. For those who converted from OPT to H1B to GC, hope this wouldn't create an issue in the future.
