shilenji:Thanks so much Chief. Let me update the post for more context. I'll appreciate also if you give hints. |
Good day to the Techies in the House. Please, I need a well-informed advice. Background in Computer: I'm a Graphics Designer (with atleast intermediate skill level - Corel Draw & Photoshop), I also do Video Editing (Premiere Pro and mostly Davinci Resolve). So It's fair to say I'm much inclined towards Design and Visual creativity. Currently, I'm pursing a degree in Computer Science. Purpose of the thread: I need advise from individuals who have been in the tech world on which Career/Skill path in TECH I can pursue with full commitment for ONE YEAR, AND POSSIBLY DO VOLUNTEER WORK/INTERNSHIP FOR 6 MONTHS TO BUILD A PORTFOLIO, so I can use the skill and experience to apply for jobs remotely from overseas or with high paying firms in Nigeria. Yes, this decision is just as MONETARILY DRIVEN, as I'm also passionate in upskilling to meet future demands from myself, family and job offerings. *AVAILABILITY: I'm currently working, but it's just a little over the minimum wage, and I have other small side hustles, but everything still comes under 70 - 80k on a good month. I'm hoping to save enough so I can quit my 8am - 5pm, and then commit at least 5 productive hours every day for ONE YEAR towards which every discipline/SKILL PATH i eventually go for. I'll appreciate if in advising, you can be detailed as to PROS AND CONS of the various skills you may suggest. Thank you Chiefs. @ Seun Lalasticlala Mynd44 |
Gwg002:Brace yourself o....I don write epistle for you. Lol |
Gwg002:Awesome skills you mentioned above! Just keep the spirit high and don't let the idea of going to school be stopped by the fear of what may be. You already have some amazing skills which you can work on and put out there to fetch you some skills at your convenience. 1. Unisex Tailoring: I take it you're a lady ba.....which means you're most likely to be patronized by your lodge-mates, departmental mates too even if it's two you can sew in a week, say you have an average of 3k profit outside expenses, that is already 6k, weekly, 24k monthly = 72k or more a semester (I'm using an average that you sew only 2 a week o, there may be weeks you may sew less or way more). 2. Computer Skills: Video Editing - Now that everyone has turned to affiliate marketer and whatsapp vendor, you can also leverage into that market, both online and among your network to help them create advert videos for their business/products/services, and if you can make them see how effective your services can help boost their engagement with customers, i'm sure many would buy into it. Let's assume you get a minimum of N5k a week as profit after expenses such as data for your marketing/ads = 20k monthly; 60k or more in a semester If you're into video editing, you may likely have a ground idea in graphics design, you can add this to what you're offering them too 3. You can also offer to help coursemates type their assignments, if you have a small laptop (at least 30k for a mini laptop). 4. Peanuts: Hehe...yes o, na student environment o; If you make 30pcs of nice peanuts selling for N100 everytime you go to class, you will most definitely sell everything; provided you're friendly o. Guys will even buy it just to impress you or do father Christmas to other people. Now assuming you make a profit of N1,000 daily from your sails; that's like (minus sundays and maybe some saturdays) = atleast 25k monthly profits; 75k profits per semester. The plus and minus of everything I'm trying to say is this: THE CAMPUS ENVIRONMENT HAS THE MARKET FOR ANYONE WITH A SKILL OR BUSINESS IDEA TO THRIVE AND SUCCEED, Provided you know how to manage and maximize your friendship with people, and maximize the your proficiency in what you can do, or learn more about what you can do to earn more Trust me, I'm not ignorant of your plight......I personally just started my 1st Degree (Distance learning, currently 200lvl) after 10yrs of leaving Secondary school....and trust me, God has been faithful.....I'm working as a Secretary somewhere, I'm into graphics design and printing, I'm also into Video Editing.....infact I'm into everything .Education is not a waste, and seeing that your reason to take the school step is to better your lot, give it your best when you do get started. |
greencard:You attacked the biggest word there without reading the smaller words that wuddav given you understanding of the whole statement |
Ideally NO. but if there's a need to, then either you xhange to a more trusting partner or you work on your insecurities |

Hmmm....those who have opportunities don't know what they have. My own advice.. If you're your own sponsor, make sure you get atleast money for 2 semesters ahead before starting the program. That way you have time on your side to hustle for money for other miscellaneous without suffering academically. If you're not a very shy person volunteer to help out at busy business centers, or learn to prepare peanuts with a unique taste and or sell any item that's a thing around there if you're business inclined. If there are certain skills that you have, try to be friendly with people especially the kindda popular ones (you don't have to be in their clique), then use that network to build a rewarding referral system and get good patronage for your skill(s) I dey come |

![]() Lol.. Oga post this thing for one place na. |
![]() Tech is the future o. While it will demand the highest form of discipline for you to stand out excellently, it remains the highest paying secured skill. Me I'm looking for a #Mentor and a 250k grant. If you know any foundation I can approach abeg |

![]() a lot of non-it jobs today will soon join this list! Tech is the future o... Find a passion now and follow the path |
They have weird obsessions and subsequent misinterpretation about rights o'er there. Those people can sue anyone or anything |
Feeding = 5,000 atleast (No, I get better Mama Put) Miscellaneous is subject to emotion and weight of the pocket. |
Myer:No... Can blessings make a wasteful and lazy person become wealthy and successful? |
Fashion Design will also always be worth its weight in gold. You just have to learn more than just buba and shokoto.. Get the basics and keep learning... Learn how to make suits, customize Bags and shoes self With ankara et al. Then learn how to sketch fashion pieces online.. You don't need to be a Leonardo Davinci to learn..... Create an online presence as you start so that when you're proficient you can leverage your audience for getting patronage |
Here's a thought: whichever one you choose make sire you're damn Good at it and also build an amazing business personality and great i terpersonal relationship. Now my analysis: With your past experience in Graphics Design, you can also get back into it in support of your side hustle to raise funds for what you need to get into video editing and content creation... And your target has to be Hollywoodstandard..I'm talking Premiere Pro + After Effects + Davinci Resolve + Blender/Cinema4d + other add-ons... You don't have to pay for the programs yet (getintopc.com) Your experience in graphics design will help you in learning Video Editing and Production (I'm starting this journey too) .....so you will have to give it all your best.. You don't have to buy courses just yet... (Udemydownload.com). The future prospects are good as your targets are media houses, freelancing, music video and movie productions, ad creation with decent pay too. Downside: There are many apps springing up today that's making every Tom Dikk and Harry being a personal video editor.. So the competition will be high later... Unless you stand out. |
How old was she in 2017? 15years? Or you meant she was 19yrs as at 2017. |
This is kinda fictitious |
![]() The answer is simple: Curse causeless shall not stand. If the son grows up to be a terrible, ill-mannered person, He'll receive beating too. By our actions do we emancipate our selves from the shackles of coincidental ideologies |
Oga OP see, there are many sides to a guy not proposing after your 2yrs of dating. 1. If you have an amazing personality with good character as a woman who knows herself (morally and otherwise) the only reason a guy will delay is because of FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS 2. if you be street person, terrible character, cheerful giver with a leech mentality, then the factors opor.. Money is not even on number 10 |
![]() I hope the supervisors were in a jolly mood as He was....otherwise, he'll wear English nezt time |
He also said some of his colleagues are against the publication of their salaries and allowances because of national securityCome on! Threat to national security is the people knowing that your unaccountable largesse called salary is too much and an unnecessary cost for a country that is said to be broke and borrowing away it's existence. Duplication of function, and non existent delivery of what's expected of them. Public servants that don't want to be transparent to the public. |

Zzor:I'm not judging her Sis. She should get her sh!t together. There's a whole lot more that makes a virtuous woman than the presence of a hymen (or bleeding on first sex). |
