CrimeMan Attacked Over Facebook Post In Ebonyi (Photos) by stephenduru(op): 3:08pm On Mar 21, 2018
A social media critic in Ebonyi state named Nwoba Chika Nwoba has been attacked by thugs operating under various amorphous platforms for the Ebonyi State Government.According to reports, he was sternly warned by a media aide to the government who alleged he  was under pressure to reveal his residential address to steer clear but he was attacked while planning to run away from his state.Earlier, the victim made a Facebook post that his life is under threat.

Another report said he was attacked somewhere in Ishieke in the  Ebonyi State University campus. According to the report, the incident took place at Prestige hostel Ishieke where the victim was alleged to have been thoroughly beaten up by two students who accused him of sleeping with their female girlfriend.Chika was said to have been having a sexual affair with the female student and had composed romantic poems for the girl,a situation that did not go down well with her student lover.

It was further gathered that the last outing Chika had with the girl was during his birthday party at Pink and Red where he was later spotted with the same girl in a new hotel at Mile 50 near St Patricks Catholic Church, Kpirikpiri, Abakaliki.

The two lovebirds were allegedly also seen by 5pm yesterday at Ishieke park where Chika took a plate of fresh fish and two bottles of Heineken beer and the girl took a plate of fresh fish pepper soup and Star Raddler before they retired to her hostel in Prestige hostel in Ishieke.

However,  luck allegedly ran out of Chika when the boyfriend of the girl came knocking early this morning following a distress call made to him possibly by the girl's hostel mates about the presence of Chika in her room.

When Chika was apprehended,  the girl denied ever having any relationship with him,  adding that she was forced to take Nwoba in when he (Chika)  told her that his life was in danger following his criticisms against some highly placed individuals in government.

All pleas and explanations made by the girl to her boyfriend to spare Chika proved abortive as the angry boy and his friend used bottles and broke Nwoba's head, stripped him of his clothes before pushing him away.

It was further gathered that the attackers also took away some of his belongings including the sum of N750 left in his pocket after the treat.

CultureCheck Out Oluwo Of Iwoland's Speech At 2nd Edition Of Bola Tinubu Youth Summit by stephenduru(op): 5:13pm On Mar 20, 2018
Oluwo of Iwoland at the second edition of Bola Tinubu Youth Summit that took place at Muson Center, Lagos.

Here is an excerpt from Oluwo speech.

"Unarguably, there are problems in Nigeria:the leadership specifically. Disappointedly, the youth are follow-follow at the detriment of their future, exercising phobia to approach and break out of the box. They have ignorantly resign to their background to put their back on the ground. They put a bar beyond which they cannot rise, forgetting in haste that no one will willingly vacate the leadership seat for them unless they demand for it. You have to be bold to liberate yourself. You can't make an omelette without breaking the shell. Your number one sacrifice is to summon courage and boldness. I'm a living example. My royal house never tasted the crown since more than 400years. I challenged the status from no one to somebody. Barrack
Obama is another example. He was nobody before. Your daily complaints will continue pulling you down until you are ready to emancipate your mind. You should all go into politics if you don't want your laws to be enacted by road side mechanics"

PoliticsFayose Blasts Buhari:'anybody Who Voted 4 U In 2015 Shld Ask God 4 Forgiveness'( by stephenduru(op): 6:01pm On Mar 19, 2018
If you voted Buhari in 2015, beg God for forgiveness  -Fayose

For bringing untold economic hardship and unprecedented level of insecurity upon Nigerians, Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has charged Nigerians who voted for President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 general election to specially beg God for forgiveness.

Mr. Fayose who said reports from Transparency International indicated that corruption has taken a surge under the Buhari administration warned Nigerians to vote out the APC in 2019 for the hardship that will befall the country if Buhari is re-elected is better imagined than experienced.

The governor made these assertions at the government house pavilion, Ado-Ekiti on Monday  while addressing representatives of teachers, local government workers and private sector operators who had gathered enmass under the Oshoko Mass Movement(OMM), a political group, to endorse the Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka as their  preferred candidate for the 2018 gubernatorial election.

The governor in his address also took a swipe at the immediate past governor of the state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi for not doing enough to unearth the natural resources which abound in various local government areas of the state. "There are natural deposits across Ekiti,  President Muhammadu Buhari spent #40b searching for crude oil in the North, what is Fayemi doing to unearth the minerals that abound here?", he asked.

Mr. Fayose thanked Ekiti teachers and parents for making it possible for the state to take a big leap in the secondary  education sector. "Ekiti people are not cut out for pretence, power belongs to the people, you have shown by your action here today that Eleka is the next governor of Ekiti State.  Ekiti was at number 34 in 2014 WAEC,  with the same set of teachers we came first in NECO in 2016 and 2017 back to back!  God bless my teachers", he said.

Reiterating that the emergence of Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka as deputy governor of Ekiti State was by divine providence, Mr. Fayose charged workers to ensure they get their permanent voter's card in preparation for the 2018 and 2019 elections even as they go out there to win five new voters into the Eleka fold.

PoliticsRe: Checkout USA Ambassador 2 Nigeria Stuart Symington's Outfit As He Visits Ortom(p by stephenduru(op): 5:50pm On Mar 18, 2018

PoliticsCheckout USA Ambassador 2 Nigeria Stuart Symington's Outfit As He Visits Ortom(p by stephenduru(op): 5:49pm On Mar 18, 2018
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom's advocacy for the establishment of ranches for cattle rearing received the support of the United States of America Ambassador to Nigeria, Stuart Symington.

The US Ambassador who visited Governor Ortom at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi, said if cattle are properly reared in ranches instead of open grazing, Nigeria could be one of the highest income earners from milk production.

"I come from a family of farmers and part of my family used to move cattle from one state called Colorado to another state called Texas every year and over time they changed until now the cow business that they do is very much one that takes advantage of the land and we have to move them on trucks.
"I had a great conversation the other day just outside the city of Jos with one of the great milk producers of the world, a company that produces milk. And I talked to the guy and he was mentioning to me that the milk that comes from the Fulani cattle can be incorporated into the great milk produced here. Literally the future of the nation could be rich when the milk of those herders get fed to the sons and daughters of families and their vegetables get fed to the sons and daughters of the herders. I am happy that you are thinking in this direction Mr Governor", the US Ambassador stated.

Governor Ortom thanked the Ambassador for the visit and solicited the assistance of the United States in the realisation of the move for ranches across the country, stating that it is one reliable way of guaranteeing peace in the country.

"Let me on behalf of the government and people of Benue State welcome you to the Presidential wing of the Benue Peoples. I appreciate your visit. We were glad when we learnt that you are coming to visit us because we look up to America for a lot of things. Today the Presidential system of Government that we practice, we borrowed it from America.

"I have been advocating for ranching which I know America for the rearing of cattle instead of the grazing that we have in Nigeria today. Because of the shortage of land, the issue of grazing has become a major security challenge, especially in my state. Frequently, there are clashes between farmers and herdsmen because the land is not there and my people are mostly farmers so they find the herdsmen encroaching and trespassing on farmlands and thus destroying their crops and when they are confronted, it will become a fight and we have lost so much.

"I have been calling for the establishment of ranches just like it is done in America. Most of us look forward that our Government at the Federal level and the state level will come together and find a lasting solution because this crisis is not only peculiar to Benue State. There are other states too that are affected. But to me, I see that ranching as it is done in America can solve the problem permanently because the land is not increasing but the population is increasing.

"When there were grazing routes in the fifties, the total population of Nigeria was less than forty million. Today, by the 2012 projection, we are over a hundred and seventy million and by 2017, I am sure we will be hitting two hundred million. So it is a big challenge. While we want to support the herdsmen to graze and to rear cattle, it should not be at the detriment of lives and property of our people. And so you are welcome."

Governor Ortom also highlighted other areas of collaboration between the Benue State Government and the United States:

"America has been supporting us in several ways. USAID has been of great assistance to my Government. Before I assumed office, they were about leaving the state but I invited them to come back for dialogue and since then, they have been of tremendous help to us" the Governor stated.
