In an evident show of compassion and to lesson the sufferings occasioned by the misfortune that visited Abia State recently, where on Thursday, 14th, 2017, unknown hoodlums reportedly attacked the Ariaria International Market Police division in Aba, and killed the station officer, ASP Cyril Nwosu, IGP Ibrahim Idris paid a condolence visit to the family of the deceased today.

In his characteristic empathy, the IGP agave a posthumous promotion to the late ASP and promised to look into the possibility of elevating the widow, who is an Inspector to a higher rank. He also announced police scholarship to the only child left behind by the deceased, whom he described as an officer that died in the service of his country.

Award-winning Nollywood star, Adesua Etomi on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, at the Government House in Benin City.

The actress, who hails from Edo State, commended the Obaseki-led administration for the giant strides it has made in empowering women and caring for the less-privileged in the society as well as providing critical infrastructure and enthroning law and order in the state.

The multi-talented star said her visit was to show her solidarity for governor Obaseki and his team that are gradually transforming the state without making noise about it.

The first-class honours graduate of the University of Wolverhampton has featured in several films including Knocking on Heaven’s Door, The Arbitration, The Wedding Party and Falling, amongst other highly rated films.

Her star performance in Falling earned her the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award for Best Actress in a Drama.

Saturday 9th of Sept 2017 was the happiest day for Aisha and her husband Ayuba.They couple, both IDPs taking refuge at MADINATU camp, Maiduguri were blessed with triplets two females and a male child.

The parents named the triplets after the Executive Governor of Borno state Hon kashim Shettima,his wife Hajiya Nana Shettima and Hon Inna Galadima who is the commissioner for poverty alleviation in Borno state at a ceremony held last Saturday 16th of this month.

From the little I could understand from the story shared in Hausa by an online user,a terrible accident occurred on Monday in Kaduna.Three people died on the spot.


   The accident occurred when a driver was trying to evade FRSC officials.When the driver saw them, he forgot that he  would not be able to climb the rock block mounted by them.

Details of meeting between Governor Ikpeazu, Traditional rulers and GOC of 82 Division of the Army

The Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, alongside Traditional Rulers in the State, met with the General Officer Commanding (GOC) commanding the 82 Division of the Nigeria Army Enugu, Major General A.B. Abubakar, at Government House Umuahia today.

The following are the highlights of the meeting:

1. The Governor and the Traditional Rulers appealed to the GOC to reduce military presence in the state, particularly at Aba and umuahia, as tension in the areas have gone down.

2. That the Nigerian Police and other security agencies should ensure that those who are brought into Abia from other states, in order to cause trouble and engage in acts capable of causing breach of law and order, should be prevented from entering the state.

3. That Traditional Rulers should further liaise with HRH Eze I.O Kanu (father of Nnamdi Kanu, Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB) to further explore ways of restoring peace and normalcy.

4. That Abians and those who do business in the state should go about their normal businesses without fear of molestation, while desisting from acts capable of causing the breach of peace in the state.

First batch of retirees of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) today received their long outstanding gratuities from the office of the Anambra state Accountant General.

Among the recipients are Mr Boniface Offokaja, former Director General of the organisation who retired in 1984.

Another retiree and recipient, Nollywood legend, Chief Pete Edochie, MON who retired from ABS as Director of Programmes in 1998 was full of praise for Governor Willie Obiano for fulfilling his promise to clear outstanding pension and gratuities of the organisation. "Many of us have lost hope that we will ever receive our gratuities. Despite our meritorious service to Anambra state, successive governments chose to neglect us. What Governor Willie Obiano has done today is remarkable. We are praying for him because he is a compassionate governor ".

Responding, the Managing Director and CEO of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Nze Uche Nworah said that Governor Obiano has lifted a huge burden off the shoulders of the organisation. "We are delighted that today, some of our retirees including those who retired since 1984 have today received their outstanding gratuities. We thank Governor Obiano for making this possible".

The next batch of retirees will be paid in October.
