Christianity EtcGeorge Weah Visits TB Joshua's SCOAN (Photos) by stephenduru(op): 3:09pm On Oct 22, 2017
GEORGE WEAH, LIBERIAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE SEEKS GOD’S FACE IN THE SCOAN

Senator George Weah, the footballing legend and leading presidential candidate in the nation of Liberia is in attendance at The SCOAN Sunday Service to seek God’s face concerning his nation. During the service, Prophet T.B. Joshua addressed him: “My brother is here because he loves his country and wants to know God’s choice for his country. He wants to hear God’s opinion about his country. He is not here to impose himself. What does God say about his country, Liberia?”

Speaking further, Prophet T.B. Joshua said, “Without corresponding power, we cannot pray to God. We cannot pray against God’s will. God’s choice is our choice. If I am a true man of God, I must hear from God. Every step we take, every movement and action – intimation comes first. There must be a suggestion from the Spirit to move before we move".

Contrary to the perception that Weah has won the election, the National Elections Commission (NEC) of Liberia declared political campaigns open for the November 7 run-off presidential election.

In a statement on its website, NEC confirmed that the run-off would be between football icon, George Weah, and the country’s incumbent Vice President, Joseph Boakai.

“The Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and the Unity Party (UP) will contest the Nov. 7 presidential run-off election because the two parties obtained the highest number of votes cast on Oct.10,” it said.

Final results of the first round showed that Weah of CDC finished with 596,037 votes, representing 38.4 per cent of the total valid votes cast.

Boakai, who is the standard bearer of the ruling UP, obtained a total of 446,716 votes or 28.8 per cent.

PoliticsGovernor Okezie Ikpeazu Celebrates His 53rd Birthday At SDA Hospital & Orphanage by stephenduru(op): 4:04pm On Oct 18, 2017
Ikpeazu at 53: We must always thank God for the gift of life- Ikpeazu tell aides

Today, October 18, is the birthday of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.

To mark the day, Governor Ikpeazu visited the SDA hospital and Orphanage at Aba and later told his aides who joined him on the visit that such engagements and celebrations should give them reasons to praise and thank God for life and good health.

Governor Ikpeazu who celebrated with the orphans also paid hospital bills for 24 persons who were medically discharged but couldn't go home as a result of their inability to complete the payment of their medical bills.

Speaking to his aides who accompanied him to the hospital, Governor Ikpeazu said; “You guys can see why we must always thank God for the gift of life and the good health we enjoy. We are not better than our people here, but owe everything to God who is all knowing. If you are sick, you won’t remember that you are the Governor or Governor’s aide. And the reality is; if a Governor is not able to discharge his duty as governor due to ill health, the Deputy Governor will take up his job. Similarly if a Governor’s aide can’t work due to ill health, he or she will be replaced. That goes to show that the system can run without any of us. This is a key life lesson for us and so we must count ourselves lucky that God chose to bless us with the opportunity we have to serve in good health.”

PoliticsBuhari Meets Igbo Governors, Senators And Leaders (Photos) by stephenduru(op): 6:07pm On Oct 13, 2017
President Buhari Assures South East of  Key Transportation Infrastructure - Coastal Railway, East West Road

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday assured stakeholders from the South East that the region will benefit more from roads and coastal rail projects, which are of critical importance to the economy.

Speaking at an audience with leaders from the region led by the Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, the President declared that 2nd Niger Bridge, the East-West Road and the Coastal rail project, are receiving utmost attention from his administration.

The President said counterpart funding from the Chinese government would substantially fund these projects, which when completed will improve the welfare, well-being and economy of the people in the region.

"I know the Chinese are very competent in handling such projects and we will ensure that we get the money for the projects to take off.

I thank you for articulating your demands and I want to assure that we are doing our best for the country. If we can stop people from stealing, then there will be more resources to put into projects that will create employment for Nigerians,’’ the President said.

Responding to allegations of under-representation of Igbos in his government, the President said: `` I gave south-east four substantive ministers in the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Investment, Science and Technology and Labour.

"Seven states in the North got Ministers of State and of the two Ministries headed by your sons, I cannot take any decision on foreign policy and investments without their input,’’ he said.

The President also promised the leaders, comprising governors and ministers from the region, the President of Ohaneze, Chief Nnia Nwodo and representatives from the National Assembly, that he will visit states in the zone soon.

I want to assure you that I came into government with a clear conscience and I will also leave with a clear conscience,’’ he said.

Earlier, the President of Ohaneze, while articulating the demands of the zone to the President highlighted the issue of state creation, restructuring, federal projects in the South East namely Enugu-Onitsha road, Enugu-Port Harcourt road and Aba-Ikot-Ekpene road, among others.

Nwodo also demanded urgent presidential interventions on the Enugu Airport, reticulation of the gas-pipelines in the South East and the standard gauge plan for railway construction.
Commending the President’s remarkable achievements on security and the fight against corruption, Nwodo declared: ``we are ready to work with you. We are determined to work with you. We know you are a decisive leader and we know God will continue to give you the wisdom to govern Nigeria.’’

Also speaking, Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State expressed satisfaction on the outcome of their discussions with the President on critical issues and topics affecting the region.

"You have no hatred for any state. You have treated all states with equality. What one state gets in the north, the other gets in the south,’’ the governor said, referring to budget support facility and stabilisation fund released to states and local governments since the inception of the administration.

ARMED ROBBERS ENCOUNTER
When fathers, mothers, children are fast asleep. Some youths who refused to work decided to be walking all through the night, armed looking for where to steal, kill to make quick money.

They arrived 12:34am this morning. Not able to open the gate, they cut the barbed wire and jumped inside the compound and went straight to the gate man, used Axe to break his head and tied him up. They stole money, laptops, phones and jewelries.

They were more than six and are youths who are supposed to be helping in protecting and contributing to the development of our Nation.

Imagine a situation where young children were denied sleep, mothers, fathers were beating for failing to provide money for them.

Today's encounter has proven to me that we are not secured. Thanks to GRA Police Station (DPO RICHMOND) for quick response. Their delay to rescue us was due to the bad road'.

CareerStaff Of Rivers Development Agency Protest Over 24months Salary Owed By Wike(pix by stephenduru(op): 7:01pm On Oct 09, 2017
Staff of the Rivers State sustainable Development Agency today staged a protest over the non payment of 24months salary owed them by the State government.

The workers who dressed in black were seen wearing agonizing faces and showing visible signs of hardship. Some came with their children who couldn't go to school because their parents couldn't pay their fees.

Speaking to newsmen,a staff of the Agency who pleaded anonymity lamented the state governor's refusal to keep to his promise to pay them their wages. She said their peaceful and non violent protest was necessary after all effort to get the authorities to pay their salaries failed.

Pointing to her colleagues, the visibly angry worker called on all well meaning Rivers people to help them mount pressure on the state government to attend to their plight. She went further to state that they are Rivers men and women with family responsibilities.

Another worker said that the governor maybe persecuting them for being staff of an Agency that was set up by the former administration of Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

Recall that the one of the agencies established during the past administration has been neglected ,abandoned and in some cases disbanded for instance the The Rivers state transport management agency TIMARIV
