Kpansia is in the heart of the town, so the high rent is understandable. But if you have your way, Agudama, Akenpai, Edepie is way cheaper between 200 - 300k for room & parlour.

Security wise, yenagoa as a whole is volatile, but kpansia area is manageable. Don't know about flooding, but the topography of kpansia is better to than other flood-prone areas.

Thanks alot. I have been informed that i will be living in kpansia. I heard the room and parlour is 500k while a self con is 300. Do you know if that is that a good area? security and flood wise

Yenagoa is relatively cheap or expensive. Depends largely on your income. If you earn within 70 - 100, you should be able to fair quite well. There are new fresh apartments around Agudama, Akenfa, Akenpai, Edepie, Opolo by expressway, Azikoro. 150 - 200k should get you a clean 1-bedroom (room an parlour apartment in Agudama or Akenfa. Please avoid Ekeki, Obele junction, Ovom - these are flood-prone areas and cult-relate criminal activities are on the high side in those areas. Raw food sturvs could be expensive sometimes. Transportation is also expensive, but less traffic jams.

Social and night life is just there - hotels, few bars and car wash restaurants here and there. Most of the ladies are raz and sometimes dirty, which makes them cheap. Cleans ones hardly come by, except visitors and non-residents.

Generally, Bayelsa are very welcoming to strangers. They love easy-life.

The Three Abba Kyari And The Confusion Of Personalities by abdussalam(m): 1:25am On Aug 28, 2015
Ever since the announcement of Abba Kyari as the new Chief of Staff to the President was made, we've seen some folks of the google age confusing him with other personalities with similar name. Some bloggers aren't helping matters either. They're the main propagators of the confusion.

In case you don't know, there are three different people answering that name in the public space in Nigeria. It's not unusual that such occur especially in Northern Nigeria. I know three different people by the name Yusuf Ali for example. You'll recall the mistaken identity situation that heralded the announcement of the manifest of the ill-fated Dana Air crash in 2012. People had already started paying condolence visits to the residence of the Yusuf, an Ilorin-Born Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). We also have a Yusuf Ali as an Editor with The Nation Newspaper. Neither of them was on the flight. It's definitely another Yusuf Ali. So, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Kyari's identity is getting people confused.

The Three Abba Kyaris
One is a retired Brigadier in the Nigerian Military
Two is a top ranking serving officer of the Nigerian Police Force in Lagos
Three is a seasoned administrator with over 30years experience in the private sector.

Their Profiles

Brigadier Abba Kyari
Abba Kyari (born 1938) is a retired Nigerian Army Brigadier who served as Governor of the now defunct North-Central State, Nigeria after it was formed from the Northern Region during the military regime of General Yakubu Gowon.

Abba Kyari was born in 1938. He attended Borno Middle School and Barewa College, Zaria. In 1959 he enlisted in the Nigerian Army as an Officer Cadet. He attended the 12th Regular Officers’ Training School, Teshia, Ghana (March 1959 - September 1959) and then the Mons Officer Cadet School, Aldershot, England (October 1959 - March 1960). He held various appointments in the army, including Platoon Commander and then Transport Offices in the 1 Brigade Transport Company, Second-in-Command and then Commander in the Nigerian Army Artillery, commander of 1 Brigade, Kaduna and Commanding Officer 5th Battalion, Nigerian Army, Kano.

During the outbreak of violence against the Igbo people in Northern and Central Nigeria in 1966, Abba Kyari assisted Igbo soldiers in escaping from Kaduna, including Major Samuel Ogbemudia, who later was appointed Governor of Mid-West State in September 1967 following the state's liberation from secessionist Biafran forces. General Yakubu Gowon appointed Colonel Kyari Governor of North-Central State in July 1967. As governor, he commissioned a master plan for the Kaduna metropolis, but in practice the plan was not followed by his successors. He was not tolerant of the free press. For example, in April 1975 he strongly attacked the New Nigerian for publishing a picture of officers attending a conference that mainly showed junior officers. Towards the end of Gowon's administration, Kyari was a cautious advocate of return to civilian rule.

Kyari led the Northern delegates to the 1994 National Constitutional Conference, and was appointed Chairman of the National Defence Committee of the conference. After retiring, he was appointed to the board of directors of First Bank of Nigeria, Standard Alliance Insurance and Merchant Bank of Commerce. He became Chairman of Gamah Flour Mills and of Alif Engineering and Construction.

The hazy picture of that bridge is not caused by weather condition. It's the smoke/soot emitting from a slaughter house just at the river bank 24/7. Why govt hasn't taken actions to stop these people beats me

Politics / Re: Explosion Rocks NLNG Pipeline In Rivers by StEugene(m): 5:45pm On Feb 23, 2017
Reason why I don't think the explosion was done by militants:
1. Rivers state has somehow been 'immune' from the activities of militants since they resumed hostilities last year.
2. That NLNG facility in question is not in a remote area. It's easily noticeable along East-West road and also heavily fortified with security operatives.
3. The facility is still under construction and I believe that the pipelines have not yet been put to use
My conclusion is that it's a construction accident that caused the explosion.

Wow!! Very fine Chukwuka, U always had it in you
yuncka:
How Abia State Government Turned Down My Logo Design, Be The Judge (pics)

The New Abia Logo was unveiled few days ago and I received the news with shock. I pursued this logo for over 2yrs and in the end another logo was chosen.

*August 2013*
There was a call/announcement for submission of prospective state emblems through the BCA (Broadcasting Cooperation of Abia State) radio. I visited BCA and was directed to submit my entry with the office of the Secretary to the State Government, then headed by Dr. Nkpa O. Nkpa. Mine was later chosen and I was assigned to work with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Chief. Nathan Harbour. After a number of corrections, insertions and modifications, Chief. Harbour introduced me to the then commissioner for Information, Dr.Eze Chikamnayo, who took special interest on delivering the emblem; further adjustments were made on the emblem. However, towards preparations for the 2015 elections all matters on the state emblem initiative vanished and this is a bit understandable given the demands of our electioneering in this part of the world.
With a new government in place, I drafted and sent several proposals and reminder on the emblem, in addition with an anthem & a flag. Incidentally, on October 1, 2015 the governor called for entries on a state emblem and anthem and I again submitted mine and followed up, constantly sending reminders to the governor's social media platforms. I also exchanged mails with the Chief Press Secretary C. N. Nwakodo on several occasions concerning the entry.

Disappointed? Maybe

I am a bit disappointed not that my entry missed out on being selected for the state emblem, but that my work in every way can challenge and best the current choice in criteria as quality, interpretation and order. I put in my best with logo standards like that of Lagos and Osun state. But I will let my fellow Nairalanders be the judge.

Dear Mods, help me take this news up..
