Besides, what is obvious in Nigerian law is that hobnobbing with criminals generally is a crime itself especially if the criminal is well known and your activities are seen as enabling the criminal. So if bandits are criminals since their crimes are in the public domain, it is not until the govt declares them terrorists that hobnobbing with them is illegal yet, Gumi has never shied from "hobnobbing" with them neither has the govt made any efforts to get him arrested for that.
Gumi has always hidden under the cover of mediation to "hobnob" with the known criminals. So it is interesting to any discerning mind that he has suddenly made a volte face because the govt rejected his "political solution". So it is not because of any consciousness of legal implications of "hobnobbing" that led him to make that clarification. Are rejection mail really necessary? I believe they are not, I know many may wish to know their fate based on applications submitted but if you wait for it for a few weeks, months or specified time for recruitment has elapsed, it’s better to move on.

As a job seeker I lived by this notion and had peace of mind, today as a recruiter I practice the same with multiple hundreds of applications to my startup on LinkedIn, direct mails and/or other platforms, sending hundreds of rejection mails doesn’t just make sense, it doesn’t feel right.
