This may be late but do you apply some ointment on your nipple area before pumping? This may be why...

I used to apply some Lanolin cream (very safe for ingestion and it helps with pains while pumping) before every pumping session and this resulted in some oil in the milk but its totally safe.


No I don't apply anything on my nipppe, as a matte rof fact, my nipple is bleached n red compared to the black it used to be n it colors my baby's mouth to be black after prolonged suckling... Guess it's just fat in milk

Depends on what time she/he eats the food and what time you express. If it is milk expressed the night before for eating the next day and your fridge is good you can refrigerate. I used to have 3 days supply so I freeze. The one I want to use the next day is kept in the fridge the night before so it can thaw gradually. I then put in a cooler bag with an ice pack for creche in the morning. Minder brings out the milk from the cooler bag an hour before feeding so it can attain room temp, swirls (shaking denatures breastmilk) and feeds

Allow your BM to thaw normally. Bring out from freezer and allow to thaw at room temp instead of applying heat.

So far your BM remains frozen (not defrosting and refreezing in the freezer) it should be fine

The milk is not bad, some babies take it nonetheless. How did you thaw it? Did you put it in hot water? Or if you used a bottle warmer, how long did you warm it for? Breastmilk is made up of water and fat, among other things and when fat is exposed to heat, you get oil. I noticed the oil forms when I “overheat” thawed breastmilk even though I thaw in the fridge, overnight. I also noticed when the oil forms, the smell and taste of the milk changes. check your swallow food like semo, eba, pounded yam, it needs to be soft . Since you are on exclusive you can't give him water, it aid bowel movement.

He has itching gums, seems he is preparing for teething earlier than expected. You can get him a pacifier (put the sucker in fridge to make it cold) and let him suck on it that's what I did to stop my dd from sucking her fingers and it will also help to calm the sore itching gums.

I don't think breastmilk can stay fresh 6hours under Nigeria's weather. It has to be 25degrees centigrade. However, you can get a breast pump and start building your supplies from now and if possible pump some while at work. You can store them in storage bags for breastmilk. An insulated bag and some ice packs will also help. You freeze the ice packs in the freezer and put in the insulated bags with breastmilk in bottles or storage bags. This should last for 5-6hours depending on the weather. I would consider looking for a creche that has a fridge/freezer.

I've never used soap on any of my children face even cream. I think only water is enough.

1. Do you burp him after ever feed? Your flow may be really fast, he will adjust with time, just feed him before he gets to hungry and take breaks to burp him
2. If you want to do exclusive you may need to find another creche. Otherwise improvise with an insulated bag and an ice pack or 2
3. Leave it, I generally don't like to use stuff for baby skin but you can try baby tribotan
4. Most baby soaps don't sting the eyes. I used Aveeno
5. Formula - SMA Gold, Nan, Enfamil, Aptamil are various brands, find what your baby (and your pocket) will tolerate. If you're going formula route start now, so you can get your baby to accept and adjust before he starts creche

Those are braxton Hicks contractions. It sounds similar to the way mine happens too. It doesn't feel the same way for every woman. Your body is preparing for the main thing. You may fall into labour before Tuesday sef.

For the first question I think your doctor should be in better position to tell you what to do.

Second question what you are feeling to me should be practice contraction since it's not regular yet.You may even fall into Labour before Tuesday.

I'm 40wks plus n no single sign yet, is it out of place to ask for induction on my next visit Tuesday or should I wait till 41 first.... Will be 41 by Friday....pls I need ur suggestions as my baby has been too big for gestational age since God knows how long
2. There's this tightening feeling I have that starts from my lower pelvic area either around the anal or vaginally area n moves up.. Like a painful cramp n it causes my breath to be short so I start panting, my head aching and heartbeat increases and my head becomes hot n sweat starts coming out.... It lasts a few seconds bfr it wears out... Ive talked to my doc, said it doesn't sound familiar... I want to know if anyone has experienced such before... It's become more frequent in the past few days....

Contractions feel like menstrual cramps.
It starts from under your belly and you find your tummy hardening. You may also feel some back pain or leg pain.
It differs from Braxton Hicks cos it's more painful.
Real labour usually involves regular contractions. Like every hour or every 30 minutes or every 10 minutes and usually lasts for the same time say 30 seconds every 10 minutes.
The pain also keeps rising and doesn't subside even when you take a nap or rest.
When you are like 10 minutes apart in contractions, please begin to head to the hospital.
