mktinsight: Ogidi IS NOT A VILLAGE. It is a TOWN.
A Town Hall is nice but if you ask me what Ogidi needs is the state government to PLAN the very successful Ogidi Building materials Market properly and get in fresh investment in expanding it into a modern wholesale market. The Building Materials Market clearly has outgrown limited parking facilities, toilets, self-power generation, primitive warehouse infrastructure. I would incorporate it and raise capital to build a far larger organized building materials market to serve every single state radio within a three hundred kilometer radius of Anambra. The population in this area is easily over 50 million and at least 10,000 buildings are built every year in this area.
If Ogidi dominated REGIONAL WHOLESALE building materials thats easily a 10-30 billion industry providing lots of jobs for wholesalers, transporters, banks, insurance, telecoms, food, etc. 50million? What is the population of lagos state? |

Professionals task Gov. Obiano on completion of Anambra Airport project
Joe Chukindi Joe Chukindi 44 mins ago
The Association of Professional Bodies in Nigeria (APBN), Anambra State chapter, has charged the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano, to brace up and ensure timely completion of the Anambra Cargo Airport at Umuleri, Anambra East local government area.
The group expressed worry over the slow pace of work or near-absence of work on the project after the hope of the citizens of the state was raised by the governor through its flag-off.
Chairman of the body, Dr. Akaolisa Ezeagu, who stated this on Friday in Awka, regretted that the speed at which the project started had dropped significantly, urging the government not to play politics with the project.
He said the body did not believe that the project was used to score political points, in view of its enormous economic significance to the state.
“Yes, infrastructure has severally been used by politicians to bargain for power. But the concept of the international cargo airport and the way the state government went about it, initially indicated professionalism.
“If the state would have the airport, being one of the states with the highest commercial activities, it’s going to boast trade in the state.
“The concept of the project is where aircrafts are going to be refuelled and others which would be the first in the Sub-saharan Africa. There will be enough dividends derivables from the project. So it’s not something government will play politics with at all,” he insisted.
Describing the airport as a key developmental project which would sustain the state’s economy for a long time, the chairman urged the government to see to its actualization before its expiration.
He said, “As professionals, we know the cost implications of the project. It’s a huge capital intensive project which will be impossible for the state to carry out single-handedly.
“That’s why it should review the Public Private Partnership policy, because if it is monolistic PPP policy, the financial capability of the company may be dwindling for that moment. The project need to be segmented with aggregated PPP in order to actualize the dream at record time.” |

Purehuman: Anambra doesn't use its gas. Anambra doesn't have the biggest crude reserve in Nigeria. Other states also have human capital. Anambra state only has a retail market which many states also have.
You have to do more of rebranding the region to be economically viable for investors. You know nothing about anambra. |

OMANBALA1: I wouldn't say deceive but over ambitious. He has the will to do it but lets be honest Anambra do not have the financial strength to tackles all the infrastructural needs of the state. We need to increase taxes, that's the only way out. Our people don't want to pay taxes. There is no way a shop owner in main market should not pay up to 20,000 naira in revenue, monthly. These citizens are robbing the state. You are insane |

mktinsight: The report should follow UNDP measures for human development which is health, education, sanitation before adding things like income, employment, comfort. On this scale I seriously doubt Lagos would rank first since it is generally an oasis of wealth in a sea of urban poverty.
For Anambra it needs to sustain the education, healthcare battle while trying to boost employment through infrastructure and investment. It is a small state and while agriculture is nice there needs to be a plan to focus on driving growth in industry, retail and services around the hubs of Onitsha, Nnewi and Awka. There is a correlation between the sophistication of cities and investment and Anambra has to be committed to transforming itself from a primitive wheel barrow and bare concrete trading economy. Do you even know anything. I mean anything about Anambra state. Please say what you know |

AmericanQuarter: Anambra Govt To Relocate Articulated Trucks From Onitsha Industrial Harbour As Transport Terminal Project Nears Completion
13 JULY 2018
All the articulated trucks that constitute nuisance on roads in the Onitsha Industrial Harbor are to be relocated to a major transport terminal in Onitsha within the next two weeks.
The Commissioner for Road, Rail and Water Transport, Mr. Uchenna Okafor disclosed this when he companied the Chairman of the State Physical Planning Board, to the harbor to assess the situation on ground. During the visit to the harbor, articulated trucks were seen parked in four lines along the roads in the layout, leaving a very narrow space for moving vehicles.
The Transport Commissioner, Mr. Okafor who described the ugly incident as totally unacceptable, said the layout was well-planned with very wide and strongly-built roads to accommodate the anticipated heavy duty trucks that convey products and raw materials to and from the industries and not to serve as park.
He revealed that the visit was directed by Governor Willie Obiano because of the negative security reports coming as a result of the activities of the truck drivers, adding that government has made plans to relocate all the articulated trucks to the Onitsha Urban Transport Terminal located at Upper Iweka in two weeks time when the Terminal must have been completed.
The Chairman of the State Physical Planning Board, Bar Maduekwe said reorganizing the physical space of the State to reflect that of a well-planned state is a major charge on the Board by the Governor and the incidents around the harbor if unchecked, have the capacity to undermine government's plans to build a secure and environmentally-sustainable state.
Some residents and operators of industries in the harbor including Barr Okey Obikeze, Mr. Oselloka Offor and Mr. Ben Ohia who regretted that eighty percent of the trucks have no business with the industries in the harbour, said their presence have not only led to a spate in crime and criminality but also has very negative health and environmental impact on the people.
They appealed to government to immediately come to their aid and relocate the trucks to once again guarantee them safety and access to their homes and industries, as the trucks most times, block the entrance to their buildings.
The Commissioner and the Physical Planning Board Chairman later proceeded to inspect work on the Onitsha-Enugu Urban Transport Terminal.
At the site, it was observed that the terminal is at about seventy-five percent completion stage, as the entire two hundred by one hundred and eighty meter land space has been fully paved with concrete and a major borehole completed with finishing touches being put on a modern toilet facility at the terminal.
The terminal which is the product of a Memorandum of Understanding between Anambra State Government, Detrazi Group and Urban Transport Terminal Limited signed last year, is expected to have sections for various types of vehicles and will also have a seventy-two room hotel for travellers.
With the floodlight also being installed, the Terminal is also designed to run twenty-four hours, according to the Terminal Manager, Sir Michael Ezeani. let us see the picture of the terminal. |

Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra State.
The Anambra State Government says it plans to partner with an Austrian firm to generate electricity through waste-to-energy technology.
Mr James Eze, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Gov. Willie Obiano stated this in a statement on Wednesday in Awka.
Eze, who is part of a delegation on an official visit to Austria, said government was exploring best possible and cost effective ways of converting tonnes of waste in the state
“The state delegation has visited leading electric power and gas companies in Austria, we visited Energie Versorgung Margarethin GmbH, (EVM) Biomethan station in Vienna among others,’’ he said.
Eze said the state was in dire need of electricity to power its industrial sector which has lots of employment potentials.
“Chief Willie Obiano took his quest for a better Anambra to the premises of EVM Biomethan station in Vienna.
“He is looking for how to convert the huge waste generated in Onitsha, Nnewi and Awka to electricity that we are in dire need of as well as gas.
“There are strong indications that EVM and the state government might go into a partnership that will turn the heaps of waste generated across the state into electricity.
“This initiative will lead to the creation of jobs and more jobs for the people,” he said.
According to Eze, the Chief Executive of EVM Mag Wermer Wenolf was delighted to receive the governor and his team.
“The Obiano and his team later held preliminary discussions on the possibilities of setting up a similar project in Anambra,”a he said. |

The government should set a design and structural standard which will be built in a particular area or region of the state. Especially structures on major roads. This practice would bring uniformity of structures like we see in developed cities like tokyo, new york e.t.c.
NOTE: Not just setting a standard but also executing the law by punishing offenders.

This is one the best decisions obiano has taken so far in his administration, next is dualization of roads... They should construct rail way line for minni train. Train that will serve the densely populated areas like obosi, nkpor etc and all rail way line should lead to main market |
