(1) The thyroid gland cosists of ........., ........ And .......
(2) The most important of the above is the ...........
(3) List the effects of the under and over secretion of the thyroid gland.
WATCHING FROM SIDELINE.
shocked
Thyroid gland get parts? Na wa o....I didn't know that...kai

Undersecretion of thyroid gland...in children cretinism...in adults it causes reduced metabolic rate, makes them lethargic and causes a condition known as myxodema (I hope that's the spelling oh)

Oversecretion of thyroid leads to...hyperplastic goitre and exophthalmic goitre depending on what's going on...
Hyperplactic goitre is caused by prolonged stimulation of the thyroid by TSH
While exophthalmic goitre is caused by oversecretion of thyroxine

Na wetin I cram for exam oh....
u guys shld check out these simple questions grin

(1) Which component of
plasma decreases the
water potential of
blood by the greatest
amount?

(2) A parasite which lives in tissue fluid can block lymph capillaries,
cuasing swelling of the
tissues, particularly in
the leg. Explain why
blockage of the lymph
capillaries leads to
swelling in the tissues.

(3) Explain how the lymph system is
involved in the absorption of the
products of digestion.
Hahahaha! Na wa u oh!....
1. In the case of plasma sha , decrease in solute potential, causes decrease in water potential (I don't even know what that means grin but I saw it somewhere once...).
2. If the lymphatic system is blocked by a parasite, the movement of lymph (fluid) becomes restricted and since the lymph cannot move freely anymore it accumulates, causing swelling.
3. Hmm lymphatic system helps to transport digested fat from the intestines to the cells that need it...but to explain it na long tin oh we'll start talking abt osmosis ,diffusion, intercellular fluid...kai!!!!
Guy! Why ur questions dey always be like german? Relax na ask simple biology....
Google "Crenation"
Hahahaha..crenation?
That's like shriveling up when in a hypertonic solution no?
Check out this germ "vibrio vulnificus"(halophytic microorganism) summary: that beach water is salt water doesn't in anyway mean that the water is sterile (free from germs) so the crenation theory may not apply all the time...biology is scary undecided
Wrong. The reason isn't far fetched, beach water is salty so the water is hypertonic to the RBCs on the Injury, therefore, the RBCs Shrink or become Crenated and Crenation Kills Bacteria.
Okay...when u say wrong I need to be sure which part is wrong so I can learn...smiley
And mehn...beach water has bacteria oh... there are bacteria that are halophytes (I'm trying to say some bacteria survive in salt water so pls forgive my spelling)
So in the end if our mystery injured dude is unfortunate, he'll just complicate things...
U mentioned RBC's....u're saying the water will mix with red blood cells and....kill the bacteria? I don't quite get that....or has the wound already sealed? (Clotted) I'm not sure that the water being salty will help this dude oh....

This isn't a religious thread. We aren't here to disprove or prove the existence of God.
If u have any encouraging words to give then be our guest please and say something comforting. If u have no comforting words to spare its also alright...but pls don't try to steal away anyones hope/faith.
