Faithful007:
I read your posts and sincerely don't see a reason why you should be apologizing to anyone. I said it sometime earlier that most folks here are too polarized and respond harshly to differing opinions. They can boldly make their own sides known and always feel they are the good guys while others are pessimistic or negative. The same trait can be seen in Nigerian leaders. Their misguided optimism and detachment from the common Nigerian, leads them into further administrative errors. If you make a contribution and someone who responds cannot objectively disagree, you shouldn't be guilt tripped into believing you made a mistake. The person who can't argue properly should go f*ck himself. Look at my past criticisms of South Africa and note the way they respond here. Then compare it with Nigerians. You'll see how you were not wrong to point out some level of immaturity.

Now coming to what you said about Nigeria, it is both sided. Actually Nigeria was once "great". In a similar fashion to Saudi Arabia, she controlled a huge part of the global oil market and bankrolled peacekeeping efforts in Africa as a "big brother". She spent heavily and attracted international interest. She was way less populated, so less suffering and less competition. Tribalism was low before the civil war, skyrocketed shortly before the war and slowly died down again after the war. Corruption was astronomically high in those "great" days. Human rights were piss poor.

In the current Nigeria, governance has improved, the government is less brutal and way more transparent. Human rights and press freedom have improved to a level. However, Nigeria is now caught up in some serious socio-economic issues that currently threaten to severely weaken or even collapse the government. These issues are more complex and deep-rooted than even the previous issues that led to the first war. I don't think a sudden violent disintegration is looming, however, there would likely be prolonged insurgencies on different fronts. Think of what is happening around West and Central Africa. Something similar to Nigeria has started cropping up in Ghana as well. Generally it is a sub-Saharan issue. Nothing is peculiar to Nigeria except the golden opportunity she had to build a country in the last century with vast amounts of oil revenue.

Issues facing Nigeria can be attributed to the failure of the "great" Nigeria to invest in the future Nigeria, which is the current Nigeria.
You've said it all. This is the picture I was trying to paint. Never said this is peculiar to Nigeria alone but I emphasized and talked about Nigeria specifically because it's my country and we should worry about and talk about the ills and commend the wins. I do not see any other country but Nigeria.

American forums remember, you can't be washing our dirty linen on an African military thread na.... You don't see kenyans or Southies doing that.... Best place would have been the sister thread, battlefield discussion thread and it's normal; even american threads are the worse sometimes, especially those woke gen z geeks sometimes
Peace, apologies.

Your points are valid, there're a lot ill things going on especially with the insecurities. But as well as some things aren't good and buhari has failed in alot of aspects, there're the good parts especially infrastructural wise and military buying wise. But remember boko haram has been basically neutralized in the north-east but they now spread infiltrated everywhere in the nation. But what caused this to happen?.... It was the negligence of the nation since the 60's in cutting out the rot in the police force. Naira devaluation keeps increasing, but steps are being taken and the nation is adapting but magic can't be done; we can't import dollars from thin air that's why you're seeing fintechs rising, start-ups coming out like water to fill in the holes left by oil industry as our dollars bringer. But that doesn't mean we should be complacent, the government had thoroughly failed in various areas; what we need now is Solutions not complaints.
Exactly. If you noticed my presence here, I always commend, post pictures and proffer solutions. I just criticize one day and everyone showed their true colours. No offense but this is kinda annoying. I'm on American forums on telegram and they criticise alot too and debate situations, instead I was attacked and called names.

I'm not surprised why we're in this situation anymore.

Nigeria is not wearing out, there's so much hope.

Look at our IT sector, Fintech, look at what local content has done for our oil industry, look at our how our education sector has grown with more and more private sector investment, look at our cinema and entertainment sector, real estate sector, see how only 90 athletes we sent brought Nigeria 35 medals.

There so much hope in our country, I will never de-market Nigeria no matter who is in power.

My father was the only educated man in his village, a village with bush tracks. Today his village, my village is now a city, with all the amenities of a city.

Yes we have power failure, no bad roads, and every street has a street gate for extra security, but it's no longer a village. That's progress.

Progress is appreciating where you are, from where you used to be, with hope that tomorrow would be better.

I might not be based in Nigeria, but it is my Nigerian education I used to get my abroad work.

The British left Nigeria with a 93% illiteracy rate. Nothing to be proud of there. If they felt Nigeria was a jewel, they would have put more effort into educating us.
No one said there is no hope. Where there is life, there's hope. The issue I've with yall are your attempts to shut me up for criticizing the deployment and the Federal government stance. Everyone have high expectations for Nigeria. Why should I wish Nigeria bad while I was born here? Nigeria took 50 athletes actually to the commonwealth and also have a great fintech sector but I'm also kinda in the fintech sector. I can't much any more longer, yall will say I'm "demarketing" Nigeria.

Since, yall want me to be a hypeman or fangirl, i might just shush. I thought this place was made of military enthusiasts and patriots but seems I'm the odd one here actin like the black sheep.

Okay, I'm not replying anymore. Yall won, let's all act like there is no issues because Americans act like they ain't have issues too. I know how much I love the Federal Republic of Nigeria and dedicated my time for it since I was born even though I'm not even an old guy or something but if criticising the deployment of troops to Guinea and handling of the situation in Nigeria is offensive to yall? Then so be it. I'm not loyal to the Nigerian government, I'm not the one that will act like nothing happens and sweep everything under the carpet in the act of "marketing" Nigeria because my loyalty is to the Nigerian people and its constitution.

Since here is a military thread which we've been on since 2013, I saw it fit to criticize the lax attitude of the federal government and its attitude to the Nigerian economy. Every country have their problems for sure, but I won't watch and see Nigeria to be like "other countries". We're Nigeria the supposed giant of Africa but we've been shiit lately and not a good "big brother", I won't keep grinning at shinny technicals, glorified crop dusters and 1985 vintage jets. I'll talk, commend our troops and criticize their failures, but it doesn't change the fact that I fully support the Armed forces because after all I'm a patriot not a blind bandwagon.

Nigeria has never been hailed as the Jewel of Great Britain in Africa that would be South Africa. Shoot Nigeria wasn’t even the most developed colony at the time. Even before independence officials we’re assuming immediate India-Pakistan style disintegration and civil war.

It was considered the liberator of the Black Race at the time because of it’s unmatched black population size and strong anti-colonial/ apartheid rhetoric. It still is because Nigerian industry is only rivaled by those of the White South Africans and northern Arabs. Topping the blacksphere.

“Keep losing citizens in large numbers”? What is that supposed to refer to death or brain drain? Like I said before civilian deaths are at a record low for the past decade and while Nigeria does lose highly valuable and educated individuals most remain and many return to set up shop. Not to mention Nigeria’s birth rates are well over replacement level.

Where all still waiting for you to post this “misery index”.

Nigerias economy dipped in 2020 along with the rest of the world but since 2021 it’s been net positive.

Like any Nation on Earth that all depends where you reside within said country. As for me I feel safer now of this date.
Dumbass, seems you ain't aware that South Africa has been in existence since 1910. As I bluntly said, Nigeria was classified as the jewel of Africa when it was given independence in 1960. Was south africa a colony of great Britain in 1960?

How many citizens wanna return right now? lol, when every youth wanna "japa"? Feed me more delusions, "patriot".

Lol, so we didn't have a recession before 2020,right? Nigeria used to have an economy growing faster than the population but is it so right now?

An economy growing slightly over 2% which is less than the 3% population growth rate is positive, right? lol

No one said so tho but your incompetent government has mismanaged this country to the extent :

We got bandits issues nationwide.
Universities on strike for over 6 months.
High rate of inflation and rising food costs.
High rate of kidnapping.
Nigeria is in the top 5 most terrorised countries in the world. Kenya and Algeria ain't.
Nigeria been losing and siphoning money through subsidy and claim to have no money.
Accountant General of the federation gets bail after siphoning 80 billion naira. Who does that? lol, only in Nigeria.

The list is endless and embarrassing for the so called "Giant of Africa" who is supposed to lead by example.

Nigerians are humans not animals. If we were having minor issues like you make it look like, we won't have a brain drain and we won't have a frustrated crying people.

I think @AskiaHarem is right to some extent about the improved security issue. I mean the last time we heard of a bomb blast whether by suicide bombers or car bomb was during the GEJ administration. The terrorists have been reduced from a Boko Haram of almost 60,000 members to a group of nothing more than 200 bandits, but the bad news is that they are scattered all over the nation.

We don't even know if it's the Fulani people of Nigeria that wants to continue from where Uthman Dan Fodio stopped or Foreigners from Niger and Chad that were meant to be political thugs for the APC but have decided to prey on us all, the entire system is just politically sabotaged.

What has changed between now and then?
So? Alot have changed. Nigerian economy has dipped. Inflation has increased. People have found goods much expensive. Terrorism has spread out of the north east. Many Nigerians think that the government is sponsoring nepotism.

Nigeria might have not collapsed but the misery index has soared

Nobody is denying there's insecurity in Nigeria, people learning in American schools routinely get wiped off the face of the earth.

Nigeria has so much going for it, we also have a lot of work to do with regards to insecurity, however the Nigerian situation is not helpless.

There's a huge investment in infrastructure in Nigeria, from rail, health , roads and education, whether that investment comes from government or the private sector.

There are more educated people in Nigeria today than there was in any point in our history.

The armed forces that have fought the insurgents in the North East, will fight the insecurity through out the country.

The Nigerian maxim which goes, "soldier come, soldier go but barracks go still remain" continues to be true till this day.
No one said it's helpless. No one said it can't be cured but your government is lax. I commended the dismantling of the terrorists of the terrorists in the North East but Nigeria has faced further embarrassments.

You'll know a serious country ready to address its issues if you see one. In your honest assessment, does Nigeria look serious to address the looming issues?

What solutions have you proffered that the Nigerian government has failed to implement?

Please list them, let's see.

Nigeria has been a ticking Time bomb, or so some of you like to say even before we gained independence.

We were a ticking Time bomb during the time of Uthman Dan Fodio.

We were a ticking Time bomb during the Aba women riots.

We were a ticking Time bomb during the the civil war.

We were a ticking Time bomb through out the various military coups.

We were a ticking Time bomb during the matastine insurgency.

We were a ticking Time bomb during the annulment of general elections in 1993.

We were a ticking Time bomb during Abacha.

We were a ticking Time bomb during the Niger Delta Insurgency.

We were Time bomb when Boko Haram started during Yar'adua.

We were a ticking Time bomb today.

What has changed?

All the bombs have come, gone and Nigeria has moved on.

We cannot all be alarmist in this country.
Sure, the Federal Republic of Nigeria has passed through alot of tests and remained a single entity but each time it passes a test, it loses some foundations of its establishment. Nigeria is wearing out. You might not be based currently in the country, and you won't understand what I see. Nigeria might exist past 2023, but its stability within the coming years are not assured.

Since independence, Nigeria has been hailed as the jewel of Great Britain in Africa. Nigeria is viewed as potential world leader and the liberator of the black race but without that stability which would be key to our success, we'll keep losing citizens in large numbers and moving from one crises to another without achieving that potential. We'll keep being "a ticking time bomb".

Buhari's advance party was attacked the other day, the last time a president convoy was attacked in our history was 1976.
The Armed forces might had dismantled the terrorists from the North East but it has led to rampant security issues across the country. We're unsafe than ever before.

No state has been a heaven while modernizing and industrializing in there respective timeframes.

From a military standpoint Nigeria is stronger than it’s ever been in the twenty first century in terms of enrollment, tuition, and arms procurement; not to mention a growing military industrial complex which it never had before.

Nigeria has been been providing military assistance all of the continent from Mali to Sudan to Somalia all while dealing with its on affairs. And you know what insurgency and banditry is at the lowest it’s been in since 2015. For example where once the West African coast was being described as the new Somali coast is now going months without major issue.

The same can be said to describe nearly every current growing sector in the country. The fact of the matter is while not as peaceful as ever Nigeria is indeed more developed and industrialized than it’s ever been at any given point in history.

This fantasy of this bygone era where Nigeria was once this prosperous glorious prototype greatpower in the making never existed. There where never any past glory days forgotten because in order to fall from grace you must first rise to a certain level and that level Nigeria has yet to ever reach.

See the people with your mindset hate the reality of Nigeria improving in one form or another because your steadily running out of excuses to blame others for your shortcomings. You fear the day you’ll be forced to accept full responsibility for your own plights.

Nigeria has all the time in the world and it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Some have been pondering whether or not Nigeria would disappear since the 1960s; they’ll still be wondering about that in the 2160s.
If Nigeria was so industrialized than ever before as you claimed, then the Nigerian naira wouldn't have been in a sorry state as it's currently.

I use the word "we" because like you, I'm a Nigerian too but until the day I drop this citizenship and get another, I'm entitled to comment on affairs of the nation.

If Nigeria was growing so fast and great as you claim, it would have had affected the common man on the streets positively. We won't had been ranking high on the misery index and amount of people in poverty. Nigeria is in shiit currently and we gotta admit that we're mismanaged.

The present modernization of the Nigerian Armed forces is just like scratching a surface. The Armed forces is filled with personnel who are only there because they have Godfathers and connections. The Nigerian Army have issues with troops lacking coordinated fire discipline, to company commanders and platoon commanders lacking the basic ability and skills to lead their men.
I know there are positives and good soldiers amongst them but the rank and file is extremely corrupt.

You talk about the operations in Mali like Nigeria did anything significant. Our troops literally operated majorly at the rear end mounted checkpoints.

Finally, I'm a strong believer in the oness and greatness of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I want a great country that's why I speak out. Unlike you, I don't sweep my dirt under the carpet.

The Nigerian government had failed. It's glaring that the Nigerian government and its crude democracy can't manage its population and resources. The systematic corruption has crumbled the only physical symbol of national unity which is the Nigerian Armed forces and destroyed morale and dedication of the few who wants to make a change.

Like massive infrastructure spending ,reduced military spending but increased spending on police, Building sewer lines, water treatment plants, providing every house with piped water, gas, electrical power, free public transportation, large farms. They might not produce a profit but the intent is to put a disposable income in the pockets of people and people will do the rest. They will do the investing in whatever they want and in a few decades the government gets it's money back in taxes
Noted. We've proffered solutions multiple times here but the Nigerian government and its passive population majority has refused to act whilst time runs out. Nigeria is a ticking time bomb.

It's not actually lack of peace, it's bad governance. The terrorists should have been a thing of the past but our government chose to handle them with kids gloves. And by the way the peace keeping mission is our own humble way of showing that we are West Africa's big brother and we are ready to attend to our lil bro's needs.
Let's be honest right now fr. The Federal Republic of Nigeria is living on past glory. We ain't no big brother. Nigeria is in turmoil. Things aren't what they're supposed to be. The corruption has totally torn this nation. Religion has destroyed the mental thinking capacity of the average Nigerian. We're at each others throats.

We're a hungry people. A hungry people are angry people. Angry people commit barbaric acts.
