That’s true but we got all these platforms. Even Alpha Jet or an L 39za would have stopped the convoy. We got ch 4 and wing loong. All of these platforms can’t be undergoing maintenance at once. Besides Kainji airbase is the home of the super tucanos and it got some alpha jets there too

2x t-129 atak choppers supported with 1 a29 tucano from kanji base coordinating the strike package would have put the fear of God in those bastards but lives have been lost now for no reason. Despite failing to capture the bases, JAS achieved a significant success in the recent Baga and Ngoshe attacks. The equipment captured can help JAS launch more strikes, raise fighters morale and provide ISWAP fierce competition.
With the recent outcomes in defferent theatres ; it's like our military is giving away equipmemt to the terrorists, troops morale is down and the top brass are clueless.

The Nigerian Army Troops of Operation FANSAN
have achieved a major breakthrough in a series of encounter in the ongoing military campaign against banditry and terrorism in the North West of Zamfara State.

In one its Operation tagged FANSAR YAN BINDIGA, during a fierce battle, the troops neutralized over 50 terrorists and inflicted serious injuries on at least 25 others, including high-profile terror commanders loyal to Bello Turji and Sani Mai Nasara (Sani Black).

[/b]Among those killed were Kachallah Sanni Bammuwa, Kachallah Auta, Audu Gajere, Kabiru Jangeru, Dan-Gajere (son of Audu Jabbi), and Bako Malaika, a notorious terrorist operating around Tungan Dan Musa.

The successful assault marks the first time in years that Nigerian troops have been able to penetrate and dominate Tungan Fulani Hills, a location that had become one of the most dangerous terrorist fortresses in the Zurmi-Shinkafi axis[b]

Zagazola Makama recalled that five previous attempts by troops to access the valley had failed due to stiff terrorist resistance, resulting in casualties among troops and damage to military equipment.

The area gained notoriety following a deadly ambush in 2019, when Bello Turji and Sani Black’s fighters killed a Major and 16 soldiers who were en route to rotate troops stationed in Mashema village. After that incident, the military was forced to withdraw from Mashema District, leaving the region under terrorist control.

Similarly, on Aug. 30, 2024, Turji and Sani Black’s fighters launched another devastating attack on troops at Kwashebawa village, where they burned Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles and killed two soldiers.

Following the historic victory, Military Defense officials have vowed to sustain the offensive under the newly declared “Operation Show No Mercy. “The mission is not just to push the terrorists out but to ensure their complete elimination.

“The time for hiding is over. Bello Turji, Sani Black, and their fighters must either surrender unconditionally or face total annihilation. There will be no negotiations, no safe havens, and no escape routes,” the sources said.

The recent success is also significant because Tungan Fulani Hills serves as a key route for arms smuggling from Niger Republic and Mali, as report indicated that Turji and Sani Black had been using the hilly terrain to store weapons, plan ambushes, and conduct kidnappings along major roads. By securing the area, the Nigerian military has disrupted their supply chain and cut off their escape routes to neighboring forests.

Residents Urged to Support Security Operations

In the wake of the Tungan Fulani Hills offensive, security forces are calling on local communities to cooperate with intelligence operatives to help track down fleeing terrorists.

Military sources confirmed that troops have expanded their operations beyond Zamfara, targeting terrorist hideouts in neighboring states to prevent them from regrouping.

As Operation Show No Mercy intensifies, security agencies are urging communities to report suspicious movements and avoid providing logistics or shelter to fleeing bandits.

“The Nigerian Army, with support from the Air Force and other security agencies, is committed to eradicating terrorism in the North-West. The fight is far from over, but we have sent a strong message that there is no safe place for terrorists in Nigeria.

“This operation will not stop until every terrorist camp is destroyed, every leader is neutralized, and every fugitive is brought to justice. The choice is clear surrender now or face total destruction,” a top military sources said.

With the military’s renewed momentum, the coming weeks are expected to bring further decisive action against terrorist networks in Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, Kebbi, and Kaduna States.

Our budget is not so bad that it can't equip our SOF with proper/quality equipment and gear.

Exactly. What our SF are using, is below standards even for a modern army. The basic USMC marine is more equipped than the NA SF operator.

Though not completely certain, US transport helos don't operate with attack helicopters as support or they are fitted with light attack capabilities.

Chopper was armed but weapon on board is unconfirmed. In fact, the terrorists claim that the chopper shot at them defending itself. IMO, I think it was mainly door gunners on board with no bombs or rockets

ECOWAS says the bloc has assembled all resources & perfected plans to invade Niger Republic to force out the military junta & reinstate its democratically elected leader, President Mohamed Bazoum.

“All the elements that would go into any eventual intervention have been brought out here & been refined, including the timing, the resources needed & the how & where & when we are going to deploy such a force,” the ECOWAS commissioner for political affairs, peace & security, Abdel-Fatau Musah, assured at a meeting with other ECOWAS chiefs in Abuja on Friday, August 4, 2023.

“We will make them handover to the civilian authorities,” He added.

There are still 2 days left before the ultimatum ECOWAS gave the junta to stand down and allow democracy to reign but Abdouramane Tchiani seems implacable and unwilling to back down, evidenced in an announcement to c¥t off ties with its neighbour, Nigeria and three other nations.

I don't trust these francophone countries and some of our neighbours. Whatever we plan, we should make sure they won't be involved in our AORs.

During the Nigerian civil war, NAF MiGs intercepted cargo planes but that didn't deter them until a cargo plane was shot down in 1968.

We got at least 800 American troops, 1200 French troops, 100 Germans and some Italians. Niger issued a statement expelling these countries and seems the west don't want to be directly involved. That means ECOMOG might face Wagner if your news is true.

Also, Wagner cost alot of fees. An average of 10, 000 dollars per mercenary. How many men would they be able to afford to pay and field against us? Niger is already facing a lot of economic issues due to the sanctions

That's true but by Sunday we might have to go in. The ECOWAS CDS 3 day meeting would end today. Signal has been sent to prep NA, SBS and NAF regiment units in anticipation of a military involvement. There is a rumored staging area in the NW too.
Regardless, Let us hope for the best and non violent outcomes.

I think there are indications that it failed but not verified for now because Niger just cut diplomatic ties with Nigeria, US, France and Togo

How is it you only remember Alpha Jets though?

Don't get me wrong, I know we have F 7NIs and JF 17s but the Alpha jets are the back bone of our manned CAS. The F 7ni combat range is slightly over 800 km, patrolling Niger airspace to enforce a NO FLY ZONE with the plane is going to be very hectic unless we have a base in Niger itself. The JF 17 has a good combat range but we can't be using a flight of our JF 17s for air combat patrol while leaving a single JF 17 trainer at home
