Undertaking a CASEVAC is the Mi-17 not meant to be armed since it has attack capabilities?
Though not completely certain, US transport helos don't operate with attack helicopters as support or they are fitted with light attack capabilities.

Chopper was armed but weapon on board is unconfirmed. In fact, the terrorists claim that the chopper shot at them defending itself. IMO, I think it was mainly door gunners on board with no bombs or rockets

Resources are assembled, plans perfected; Niger coup leader will be forced out of power— ECOWAS.

ECOWAS says the bloc has assembled all resources & perfected plans to invade Niger Republic to force out the military junta & reinstate its democratically elected leader, President Mohamed Bazoum.

“All the elements that would go into any eventual intervention have been brought out here & been refined, including the timing, the resources needed & the how & where & when we are going to deploy such a force,” the ECOWAS commissioner for political affairs, peace & security, Abdel-Fatau Musah, assured at a meeting with other ECOWAS chiefs in Abuja on Friday, August 4, 2023.

“We will make them handover to the civilian authorities,” He added.

There are still 2 days left before the ultimatum ECOWAS gave the junta to stand down and allow democracy to reign but Abdouramane Tchiani seems implacable and unwilling to back down, evidenced in an announcement to c¥t off ties with its neighbour, Nigeria and three other nations.

I don't trust these francophone countries and some of our neighbours. Whatever we plan, we should make sure they won't be involved in our AORs.

You don't need all those stuff.

We're talking about Africa here. If you intercept one commercial aircraft and ask it to return, the rest will follow suit.

Not entirely true.

During the Nigerian civil war, NAF MiGs intercepted cargo planes but that didn't deter them until a cargo plane was shot down in 1968.

Wagner are already in Niger and more men and equipments moving in...!!
Interesting days ahead..!!

We got at least 800 American troops, 1200 French troops, 100 Germans and some Italians. Niger issued a statement expelling these countries and seems the west don't want to be directly involved. That means ECOMOG might face Wagner if your news is true.

Also, Wagner cost alot of fees. An average of 10, 000 dollars per mercenary. How many men would they be able to afford to pay and field against us? Niger is already facing a lot of economic issues due to the sanctions

Oga, Nigeria/ECOWAS is not going to war with anybody... So all these discussions and comparison with wagnar or whatever they call themselves is unnecessary... ECOWAS just wants to feel important like their counterparts in the west, that's all I see... Even if we were going to war with Wagner backed Niger, ECOWAS/Nigeria is as good as gone because they will so molest the whole ECOWAS military..you think these one's na boko haram or ESN..

Believe what you want to.

I think it's only sanctions that will be leveled against the newly dictatorship in Niger. Something has to he done to stop this movement in West Africa region.

Tough times ahead for Niger newly formed government and the citizens.

That's true but by Sunday we might have to go in. The ECOWAS CDS 3 day meeting would end today. Signal has been sent to prep NA, SBS and NAF regiment units in anticipation of a military involvement. There is a rumored staging area in the NW too.
Regardless, Let us hope for the best and non violent outcomes.

How is it you only remember Alpha Jets though?

Don't get me wrong, I know we have F 7NIs and JF 17s but the Alpha jets are the back bone of our manned CAS. The F 7ni combat range is slightly over 800 km, patrolling Niger airspace to enforce a NO FLY ZONE with the plane is going to be very hectic unless we have a base in Niger itself. The JF 17 has a good combat range but we can't be using a flight of our JF 17s for air combat patrol while leaving a single JF 17 trainer at home

I don't think anyone really gives a shit about the no fly zone in Niger.

Airlines have been crossing that airspace as usual.

Even Sudan airspace is avoided.

That's what happens when you don't have Long range radar and long range interceptors. This isn't Liberia. Alpha jets as our airpower backbone can't assure us air superiority.

That was in the 90s during Kim Jong Il's (Kim Jong Un's father) regime and it was as a result of international isolation and sanctions.
Kim Jong Un came into power in 2011 as a man different from his father(although the only difference is that he's a little bit more considerate and compassionate) and ever since his ascent to power I don't think they've reported any case of famine. No food means the people will be weak. A weak person can't be forced to construct and launch ballistic missiles. But these guys launch them like every month.

It's not only a food issue but the flawed mentality of the people. I remember, few months back, a documentary on the entertainment sector of North Korea. The students in the North Korean film institute were asked why they were either being actors or singers. The common reply? "I want to act/sing to please the Great Leader", "I'm doing this for my great leader", "I want to entertain my Great leader".

A country where people can't think or pursue dreams for their selves or the betterment of the people of their nation, rather only for the pleasure of a narcissistic and undeserving individual.

Now I think I shouldn't even be responding to you in the first place.

What did I tell you initially? I told you that the Mi35 and the AH-1z are not the same kind of helicopters and shouldn't be compared. You could have at least done a research on that and found out that the Russians have the Mi 24, which is an attack helicopter.

The Mi35 is the Russian equivalent of an armed UH60. The Mi24/ka50 and Ah1Z/ AH64 are all in the same class.

I think you meant, mi 28

What Flanker said. An Airbus heavy chopper we had for a while, which didn't perform in our high and hot environment. And we had too few to be worthwhile adapting to suit our needs.
At the end of her service, she was assigned to coastal squadrons, mostly for fire-fighting.

Has anyone noticed that northern musicians are not as popular as their southern counterparts. We've seen southern musicians pair up with other African and foreign musicians.

But I don't think I know any popular northern musician apart from Zachy Azzy (hope I spelt it correctly) the man that sang withTorchlights those days.

Do northerners hate secular music? 🤔

some dogs are smart as a matter of fact smatter than some humans, your guy may like dogs but i dont think he understands dogs ,the first thing he should have told you to do when coming was to bring something so you can feed and bond perfectly with the dog the first day you came, now she is angry because she doesn't think you are nice and you are having all the attention, dogs get jealouse yes very jealouse but gifts such as food wins their heart overtime ,also they can smell fear or rage from the adrenaline in you so if you are not always calm around her she is bound to make advances towards you. do you eat dog meat a lot? that could be a pointer, also if you have a cat and she perceives the scent of a cat about you any time you show up that may also be a pointer or else i suggest you play by the default rule i mentioned at first, you also need to radiate a good aura whever you are around her,it helps your bonding process.hope this helps

She got a pussy and you asking her if she has a cat?
