Africa is a continent not a country. The way we make statements make foreigners think we are a country. Saying "not many people in South Africa can afford 135 dollars a month" will be much accurate than generalising everything.

I know Africa got poor people but let's be guided and precise with our statements. Each African country has different realities.

Okay, so I looked into my files where I have pictures of Nigerian army. And I have these types:

South Africa: REVA MkIII, Marauder
USA: MAXXPRO, BAE Caiman
UAE: Isotrex Legion, Isotrex Phantom 2
China: CS/VP3 Bigfoot
Nigeria: Ezugwu, Proforce ARA

To add to this, Nigeria army also operates highly diverse armored personnel carriers like Mengshi CSK-131, KIA K152, VBL, KrAZ Spartan, Otokar Cobra... And no, all of this is still in service, none have been phased out. Also my list might not be complete, I was never really interested in Nigerian army as much as in other ones, so I only have a few photos downloaded. Anyway, this is a lot of types and I haven't even started writing list of
other vehicle types where Nigerian army is just as diverse. This is logistical nightmare in my opinion.

There is also this Nigerian MRAP that I have seen a couple of times, articles claim they entered service but I don't know their name or if that's true.

We're talking about the Nigerian army here. The Nigerian army doesn't operate Marauders. The Airforce special forces does and that's 3 units in 407 Air combat training Group Kainji.
Also, Isotrex Phantom 2 is an APC not MRAP. We've been operating otokar Cobra 1 since 2003, many has been lost. Many officers died in that thing.

I understand your concerns about this being a logistical nightmare for the Nigerian army but as Kabe1 said most of the MRAPs and APCs has been phased out. You have no idea how many MRAPs we used to lose to IEDs on a daily basis. This equipments numbers are not stagnant. We've to replace them. The current Nigerian army leadership has been determined to setup infrastructure in order to have 70% percent of our APCs and MRAPs needs available from Nigeria in the nearest future.

USMC and US Army are just different, you can hardly compare any smaller army in the world to their budget, structure etc. And it's still not the best comparison, both are built in the US, both share the same weapons and some of the systems too, both manufacturers supply more equipment types to the branches, in case of AH-1Z, it even shares parts with UH-1Y.

But the MRAPs are just completly different than any other branch uses, shares no parts with them. And I didn't say they are the same, what I mean is the problems that come with buying the spare parts. Can you imagine the soldiers ordering so many different parts from so many sources and then distributing them? That's the real pain in the ass, especially in case of war. Even countries that diversify their arsenal usually maintain just a few sources of equipment.

As for the REVAs, so do you have any source for your claims? You can share the photos of their terrible performance, if they are so common it shouldn't be hard. Cannibalization is common, nothing special that would prove said vehicle is mediocre. I've sat in REVA before, that thing is simple but definitely not obsolete.

And the purchase doesn't say anything about their performance, rather that simply the CS/VP3 is cheaper and therefore Nigeria could offer to buy more of them than the REVAs.

I've just read the rest of your answers and sorry, I don't have time for this. SIPRI is awful source, SIPRI also claimed Angola has BMD-3 that they have never ever received. Not sure if they finally fixed it in newer issues. It often contains a lot of innacuracies. I can't blame you for using it though, it's probably the only source that claims any number, it's just not very reliable from my experience. And thank you for providing me with some sources, after I asked you, but also with adding on top of it more statements, you have again, not backed by any sources. I backed my claims and you ignored it.

I don't know why you said this but are you implying that the Nigerian military is a single entity?! Many people on this platform are used to referring to the Nigerian military as the Nigerian defence forces. We Nigerians has countless told you people that it is called the Nigerian Armed Forces. The Nigerian Armed forces are not referred to as a defense force and it's not a single entity. Infact, in Nigeria people believe that the tri-services are not working very much in unison. All purchases of the tri-services are not inter-used. It's just like saying that equipment of the Nigerian Navy can be used by the Nigerian Army meanwhile it's not easily that possible.

Like Kabe1 said, The Nigerian Army operates the Ezugwu MRAP, Ara 2 MRAP, Alkali MRAP(prototype), Isotrex legion MRAP(UAE), Bigfoot MRAP in active service. The first three MRAPs are made in Nigeria. We must understand that their is a difference between Isotrex legion and Isotrex phantom 2. The latter is an APC. Those American MRAPs were donated and I'm not really sure that there much in the from lines.

The Reva MRAP was purchased at the time when Nigeria was in a dire need of armoured vehicles to transport troops in the front. Then, Eeben Barlow's men were training the Nigerian 72 SF, AFSF and the MRAP was recommended by Barlow. Well, I learnt we purchased at least 40 of those MRAPs but those MRAPs has been since phased out. Nevertheless, I saw one of them captured from ISWAP in the Timbuktu triangle last month. The REVA had a huge failure rate and mechanical issues according to what I heard from troops.
Look, I know we all like to look at Wikipedia and say things. I'm sure you saw ferrets and Saladin in our equipment lists, but do Nigeria still use ferrets and saladins in the front?! NO!

Just because you sat in a REVA doesn't make it 100% efficient. The REVA looks good, we Nigerians are not saying that South Africans make bad products but the REVA wasn't good enough for our war against Insurgency. The Bigfoots were effective that's why we have atleast 200 of them.

Army is my second choice. Everyone filled in a second choice. So, in case I'm giving army, I'll be fine with it. But I hope that I'm giving my first choice. According to what I heard, your behavior while facing the board determines if your arm of service gets changed. Be calm and concentrated.

The attestation forms are to be signed by our parents so that they won't be able to sue the military authorities if anything happens to us and their is a form to be signed by a military officer or a local government chairman.
