You know....i really dont have much to say other than to allow democracy take its fundamental place but i would have rather loved all these entertainers and Nigeriancelebrities to remain in their former careers. The massive proliferation of these group of people going into politics and their ersthwhile aspirations can only confirm the vulnerability of our present political Climate in its most appalling and degraded sorry state. No one cares to do something different anymore other than go into politics with the sole intention of ammasing appropriated public funds and inorder words stay selfishly relevant as an upper class and look for power and control to wield off any suspicious observer. One would have expected many of these guys and so called Nigerian celebrities to use their music,talents and arts in several and many other unadulterated areas in their fields which are so many and yet to be explored most especially in these areas of art and culture. No foolhardy,not even my parents can convince me that asides the fact that majority of these guys who are poupular among their peers would make me believe that based on that premise,these are the only 'right people' that should be trusted with appropriated public funds. Nonetheless,its a good thing if these aspirants genuinely want to serve,we've had celebrities outside the country taking up political appointments e.g Arnorld Schwarzenegar,but,he didnt only serve with all his sincerity,he was also always quick to say all that he had missed and 'sacrificed' inorder to fulfill his selfless service to humanity and that alone made him a fulfilled man,but,i bet if this our aspirants will come close to do selflessly and honestly serve patriotically. I see these set of people opening up a big cankerworm of political distrust and flayed integrity filled with corruption,abuse of funds,power and office not because i dislike them or dont listen to their music or films but my political assertions are that,it will give rise to a continued trend of this nature thereby allowing just about anybody to shift to politics because it 'pays' and what anyone that needs political power and influence would do is-GET POPULAR,GET SOME FUNDING,PICK A WINNiNG PARTY,CAJOLE YOUR GULLIBlE FANS,WIN ELECTIONS,ASSUME OFFICE AND FORCIBLY LOOK FOR WAYS TO SHARE THE LOOT. As Nigerians,we need to be more intelligent,discerning and vigilant to denote these things and therefore,we need to be indépendently wary as electorates other than be mused as being 'GULLIBLE'. These analysis of mine is personal and can be simply understood if we all know and expect to hear the truth even if its not tolerating,appealing or more favorable to the majority who may think otherwise. Political aspiration is not a birthright neither is it for famedom nor enriching oneself but a voluntary opportunity to serve the people and alleviate all their major problems and i heartily wish all of them including many others who would join them later in the future the best in their political conquest. May God bless Nigeria ! |
egift:This artifice is the most enthralling debate piece have ever laid eyes on,funny and precise.Nice one ! |
If Fashola could be successful governing a condensed religous state like Lagos without any breakdown of law or religous riots like we have in the north,i see no reason why a truly and sincere aspirant would be thinking a muslim-muslim ticket is compulsory. Nigerians want change and cared less which religion he or she comes from,be it a xtian or muslim. If APC or Fashola is sincere,no foolhardy should be told less that there is nothing wrong with a Buhari/Fashola ticket despite being muslims.Nigerians no longer care about their di verse religious backgrounds of their political parties anymore as long as the candidate has fair credibility and has a good intention for better leadership. Nigerians must get it right ! |
Hmmm.. Its quite obvious what most Nigerians want is a new change and Everyone seems to be tired of the breakdown of law and order,Boko Haram Insurgency culminating high securty risk,dwindling economic conditions,Negative austerity measures,Nairas devaluation,Fuel Subsidy saga,Chibok girls abduction and their infinite disappearance,High unemployment rate,unsolved Countless corruption cases,extra-judicial killings,degrading educational standards,Substandard healthcare,Poor electricity etc and yet we still havent learnt any lesson. No one should be accused of all these menace or who caused it or who brought Nigerians to this state of despair,What all Nigerians want is someone that would fix them be it the present or coming government. My question is-Must being a President,Politician or who have you, be a do or die affair,Nigerians must start to think discretely otherwise and more individually what they can do to help the situation and not add to it and thats exactly what other great nations do. I have seen leaders who have honorably resigned their appointments not because they are cowards but because they wanted peace and order to reign,i have nothing against GEJ.but if i were him,i would have resigned a long time ago just like some others who have done so before even if not in Nigeria but outside the country,by doing so he can rely on his remaining credibility and work more assidously from behind the scene just to let the whole world know its not a do or die affair.There is nothing wrong if he leaves without recontesting,it will only re-approve of his sincerity and honesty if only he hadnt recontested,its nothing close to being chicken-hearted but rather reinstates his Personal integrity. My advise to Nigerians is that whoever you think is good enough for the country,go ahead and do justice come 2015 by voting him in or voting him out.by so doing every mischief suffered thereon should be borne by them who voted them in and everyone who voted should be collectively held responsible for his or her woeful election mandates. I see Nigeria boiling at high temperature come 2015,some are done and some are just getting started,corruption looms in every street and corner,Abject poverty indexes fastly rearing its ugly heads,Unemployment is a cankerworm which has skyrocketed to heinous crimes like kidnap,rape,arm robbery and this is also in its high prime,Northern part is gradually encroaching,Suicide bombing is enough reason for me not to visit the north or even dare pick a good job there or pray for my peeps to have employment in that region for now.Everyone is unsafe ! Im not in support of any government but if i see a good one,i will appreciate. Nigerians ! We need to get it right,Nigerian Political Offices are not birth-rights and whoever gets the mandate must go there to serve and not 'reserve'.SERVICE TO HUMANITY IS THE BEST WORK OF LIFE.lets clamour for a better and greater Nigeria for the sake of our kids and unborn generations. I wish all Nigerians peace this yuletide season and none of our family members,friends or relatives will be found wanting.Happy new month and Merry Xmas in advance. Lets give peace a chance ! |
I shake my head in disgust and shame. I took a whole lot of time to read through from the first to the last page and all what i saw was nothing different from astonishments.I sincerely think the visions of true Seers and true prophesies sighted many years back are all coming to life now,what we are seeing is a total deviation from what a true Church is and what is expected of christians today.This totally disheartening. See Christians toungue lashing eachother,raising insults and unwarranted arguements online,laying erratic and demeaning accusations on eachother,namecalling,backstabbing,blasphemous accusations and calling themselves screw names,all in name of religion.This is total opposite of what is expected from faithful attendants of a TRUE church. A real christian is hard to find these days and i guess we are getting closer to the 'D' day by each passing minute and seconds. My stake is very liberal on the topic,if you have,give and if you dont,dont be compelled,cajoled,brainwashed,lured into depositing your funds to anyone,group or an account you cant have an access to later in the future. In the first instance,the man in question may not seem right in fair mind but if he wasnt deeply frustrated and feel hoodwinked he wouldnt be hoping to cast a lawsuit on a church.its like laying accusation on a blind thief for stealing your car,its just the decadence in our society that has crawled its way into the church and as a TRUE christian you should be wary of these times. Everyone is a church and a man of God if trully you know who you serve and that means every of your actions must be contolled by no other person's spirit or actions but the true spirit that dwells in you.This is the spirit that guides every of your actions including giving and TITHING. Also a TRUE pastor,according to what i learnt and grew up to know,If any member or members of your church have any issues concerning the challenges of life,a TRUE Pastor or church must see that such issues are gotten rid off from the lives of the affected member(s) through incessant and justifiable prayers,but these days, the reverse is the case,some churches dont even know the names of their members but will remember them during donations,tithing and other voluntary committments.These goes a long way to say that corruption,neglection,greed,sheer wickedness,hatred,stealing have all made our so called churches who we all used to know them for their upright beliefs and high moral standards are easily and quickly turning into Vanity Fairs. Please when you pray always remember to pray for Today's churches. May God help us. |

Idrico:@Idrico You're Smart ! You're loyal ! You're grateful ! I appreciate that ! You're a genius ! I have read peoples comments and it really saddened and disappointed me,Sometimes, a little knowledge is all we needed in learning.Besides, the words Revenue generation and Allocation are two different words under Public Sector Accounting ! Nice one dude ! |
Evi Edna and Majek were the bomb those days. They lived moderately,dressed moderated,sang wonderfully and inspiritionally.The tunes were always great,you'll never get scolded by your parents when they find you listening or dancing to the rythm.Majek Fashek was deep,inspirational and rhythmical who was following the likes of great Bob Marley,I deeply feel for his present sorry state though. I also remembered Ese Agese-back to the basics,NTA will slam the videos mostly on Saturday and Charly Boy Show is not left out.Blacky was the Modern dance hall,i was still little then,he was the bad boy of those times. @OP please i hope your research will also include the likes of Sunny Ade,Ebenezer Obey,Ayinde Wasiu,Kollington Ayinla,Salawa Abeni,Adewale Ayuba,Sir Shina Peters,Fela Kuti and so many i cant recal their names anymore as i was more inclined to HIPHOP in my growing years but these Musicians' ovation were way more louder than what a minority of my younger peers that listened to HipHop had back then. My parents hardly play 'Apala' but Fuji Gabbage and Ijo yoyo was among the dance i danced to at parties even my parents will jamm the plates at any available happy day.The feeling was always different. Their music was strong and they passed messages of great insights and the ones with high tunes make you really dance and forget your sorrows,breakdancing,backsliding,spliting,moonwalking,glasswalking-The Art was awesome,originality was unmatched and their creativity was high. @OP *Thumbs*This is the second time you guys are sending me back to the past this week on Nairaland ! Una do well ! ,These were the periods when things in Nigeria were fairly great .I miss those seasons big time ! |
Nigeria will be boiling hard at extreme temperature all thanks to the corruption,lawlessness and non-challant attitude of greedy incumbent and aspiring political candidates. Insecurity will be second to none and abject povert indexes will 'improve' as the so called citizens,electorates,followers now used to the word ''clueless'' will cluelessy revote the clueless leaders once again! 2015 is going to be full of drama ! Grab your seat belt and watch ! Nigeria i hail thee ! |
@OP You're smart ! Your're loyal ! You're grateful I appreciate that ! You're a genius ! Nice share ! |
Eberex:Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin-i remembered way back in elementary school everyone wanted to be pilots! Childhood fantasies ! Great times ! You just had to do your best,the economy was fairly great,fanstastic family revolution,Promising future,Solid education,constant power to watch fav TV programmes wth your family,No unnecessary insecurity tensions,no wars,great music rendevous(not shoki),great food(not indomie)no offense ! Its a pity our government have lost everything,corruption is the order of the day,i remembered a Primay school student expelled way back for stealing just a pen,i bet if such wont go scot-free these days.What a pity ! My weekday diary used to be,7am already in school while lessons,classes,activities go on till 2pm and everyone dashes home to watch your favorite cantoons-THERE WAS ALWAYS LIGHT to go through your homework,read your novels books,do home chores,watch some clothes, iron when necessary and still watch TV.and yet top the class in school.What went wrong? We all could remember all these cartoons because there was constant electricity which brough great family ties and upbringing. I guess a lot of us that shared these memories must really have a sober réflection,things have gone extremely bad,we used to be ''suffering and smiling but now we are suffering and crying'' I tried not to Subscribe for DSTV some few months back inorder to Terrestial TV(local Stations)at first, i tried watching the local TV with Patriotism but it failed,there was no one single content i found interesting except for a 'very very' few ones.i picked up interest in a nice Nigerian content soap-opera and barely 2weeks i could not tell which was the first or last episode,the whole story turned strange all over again,thanks to the powers of PHCN(NEPA) no one advised me before i subscribed back. Nigerian Eighties and late Nineties were the best development periods Nigerian Children ever enjoyed these can be testified by the large audience that had Nostalgic stints of our great Nigerian Cartoon and TV History. #NigeriaBringBackOurLostFamilyTies #NigeriaGiveus24HrPowerSupply Great Memories ! Sober Réflexion ! Nice one OP ! |
Akanniade:You remember Haggai the witch in Voltron ! Nice throwback indeed ! |
Tha Money ! Tha Fame ! Tha Power ! Tha Respect ! Funny enough,you can hardly find anyone that has every of those aforementioned things ! And when you feel like you have had enough,the insatiability sets in all over again from where you had stopped-Ground Zero! My advise:So called Celebrities-if there's'anything like one should be in control of my minds 'firstly' and then all things will fall into place naturally.They need not be rich before they remain relevant,A real Celebrity is a real Role model.its charismatic ! *Go check real celebrities like Nelson Mandela,Obafemi Awolowo,Steven Biko etc These are Role model celebrities ! Their peole first,Their people last. |
At Nine,i remembered vividly about watching a candle light procession in my dreams,woke up the next morning in my neighbourhood to see a day light Candle Procession for an Old man who had died earlier that same morning in the neighbourhood suspected to be an Ogboni cult member.It was as if i heard voices telling to come see what i saw,i felt trembled as a young lad and ignored it. I slept off recently 3 years ago,thought i was dead,i couldnt speak nor move a limb i was totally subsconcious and had to be rushed to the hospital only to be attended to by the same man i saw in my sleep as the doctor,i was dumbfounded i remembered shouting *CHiZOZ* in my subconscious mind.trust me,i refused the doctor that day. I Stayed off campus in a suburban township,i share the room with my brother,At midnight after saying my prayers,i'll start to hear the beating of drums coming from no where continously till it stops at 3am.And when i go to school those days i always get greeted by unknown people that looked like i knew.This is a town where all human activities closes by 10pm then.I once stylishly asked if there was party or church in a far distance and the villagers would say no.I prayed vehemently about this and i remembered way back telling myself never to narrate the incidences again. There are more bizzare happenings but can only share this due to other people's' beliefs and understanding. There are times God will reveal Himself to predict events or bring some secrets alive or tell stories to those that dont really doubt him and are indeed very strong in Him and i have had about 5 encounters in the past 6yrs,the recent was the greatest journey in my sleep,Had a dream that lasted like forever,it changed everything i already knew and all my beliefs were totally put in doubt it shocked me ! Life is deep and mystically spiritual,I used to shave it aside and ashamed to tell people what i indeed saw or experience when i was a kid but not anymore. There are mysterious events out there and it only takes a weirdly spirit or a strong christian to encounter these things. Some stories might not be sincerely the true facts,but a single encounter could put you off guard and make you vulnerable to the truth. My advice:Be a true believer religously if you must be one and if you cant,be extremely conscious and vigilant ! May God help us. |

Posters create unneccessary traffic when issues as these come up. For me Nigeria's' educational system is in a state of jeorpady as we've had in other areas of the economy.Its a total waste of time ranking Universities,courses and the present educational system when its in total squarlor ! Apologies for saying it so ! |

The 49year old Multiple Grammy award winner,businessman,Super-producer and Hip-Hop Rap mogul,Dr dre alongside jimmy lovine who co-founded Beats Electronics in 2006 have just been awarded prestigously the 2014 Walls Street Journal Innovators Award for Enterpreneurship. The duo behind the phenomenal success of Dre Beats, recently purchased by Apple for $3 billion, has launched a new dream factory: the Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy, a program devoted to arts, technology and the business of innovation and Award is presented by Eminem which was held at the Museum of Modern Arts in New York City on Wednesday evening. Read Dr Dre's' Success Story: "The Forbes list just changed." That is the boast made by singer-songwriter Tyrese Gibson in a video posted on Facebook (and later removed), before he is pushed aside by Dr Dre, the co-founder of the Beats Electronics firm. The list of the richest people on the planet, says Dre, the 49-year-old hip-hop star and entrepreneur, has changed "in a big way". "The first billionaire in hip hop right here from the... West Coast, believe me," he said, before the video abruptly ends. By most accounts, Apple's $3bn (£1.8bn) acquisition of the Beats headphone and music streaming service will increase Dre's net worth from an estimated $550m to almost $800m - making him, if not hip-hop's first billionaire, certainly hip-hop's wealthiest man. So how did Dr Dre, born Andre Romelle Young in inner-city Los Angeles, build his fortune? Borne of necessity Dan Charnas, a former hip-hop record producer and author of The Big Payback: The History of the Business of Hip-Hop, says that Dr Dre's business acumen was shaped by the culture of hip-hop in the 1980s, which was by necessity more entrepreneurial. "There's a long tradition of entrepreneurship for artists in the hip-hop business because there was no other way they were going to get out there," says Charnas, noting that in the 1980s, major record labels and radio stations were hesitant to invest in and promote hip-hop music. "Russell Simmons [and Rick Rubin] had to start their own music company if people were going to hear these records," he adds, referring to Def Jam records, one of the first and most successful hip-hop labels. "The hustle of that extended to everything." Diversify Dr Dre was certainly part of that early, scrappy hip-hop milieu. Dr Dre diversified his revenue stream by identifying and producing new music by artists like Eminem Although he first found success as a musician with the World Class Wreckin' Cru and then with the seminal group N.W.A. - pioneers of gangsta rap - he was also a keen collaborator and producer, thus ensuring he had two revenue streams: one from performing, and another from producing. Just a year after he released his debut album, The Chronic, in 1992 - which sold three million copies and won a Grammy award - Dr Dre also helped produce Snoop Dogg's first album, Doggystyle, which sold an astonishing five million copies. Like many hip-hop stars of the era, Dre also made sure that he earned a cut of his own sales as a producer - eventually becoming "the single most influential producer in hip-hop history", according to Rolling Stone magazine. After a falling out with his label, Death Row Records, due to a contract dispute (among other concerns), Dre negotiated a deal with Interscope to start his own label, Aftermath Entertainment, in 1996. He then signed and helped produce albums by young hip-hop artists, most notably Eminem, before selling his share of the label back to Interscope in 2001 for a reported $35m. Brand power Although he rose to fame as a performer, Dr Dre has not released a solo album since 1999. Successful music mogul Jimmy Iovine (left) suggested the idea of an audio line to Dr Dre Instead, he has capitalised on a trend in hip-hop that sprang up during the 1990s, when the genre's biggest stars, like Jay-Z and Sean "Diddy" Combs - aka Puff Daddy and P Diddy - launched their own clothing labels and consumer products. Jay-Z founded Rocawear and Combs founded Sean Jean. Both are worth many millions of dollars. "Why beg Adidas for an endorsement deal and make them all the money when you could put your own clothing out and do it yourself?" says Mr Charnas of the entrepreneurial spirit which pervaded hip-hop at the time. Dr Dre was similarly pushed into consumer branding, but he took a slightly different route. As the possibly apocryphal story goes, Dre's lawyers had asked him to endorse sneakers. He ran into then-Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine on the beach, who said something along the lines of: "[Expletive] sneakers, let's sell speakers." 'The way I do' From there, the pair first partnered with Monster, a well-respected audio firm known mostly for their HDMI cables, to design and manufacture the Beats headphones. (In 2012, Monster and Beats announced the partnership had ended.) "Monster had a good name in audio circles," says Mr Charnas of the early hype surrounding the headphones, which soon became known as accessories for the "true" music lover. Most experts say the Beats success story is due in part to a canny marketing effort The Monster reputation helped - but so did celebrity endorsements, which included Lady Gaga, as well as prominent placement within music videos. "Beats is viewed as a triumph of marketing more than it is a fantastic product - there are a lot of people who feel there are better headphones to be bought in the market," says Mr Charnas. Dr Dre used his reputation as a producer to market the product, saying: "Hear what the artists hear, and listen to the music the way they should, the way I do." But the hip-hop artist has previously maintained that for him, it isn't all about the cash. In an interview with Esquire last year, he talked about turning down potential investors by telling them he doesn't need any more money. "That part is entertaining, because people look at you like you're crazy when you say you don't need any more money. Who says that?" he said. Perhaps hip-hop's richest man did used to say that. At least until Apple came knocking. MORAL: NEVER JUDGE ANY HUMBLE BEGINING ! CONGRATULATiONS ANDRE !
