Good Evening Everyone.

I currently work in a company and my monthly take home is 210k. A friend helped me to apply for a Job in Canada, I did the interview Last Month and I was sent a congratulatry message Yesterday from the Company to start work in Canada.

Am having little fears, have not been to Canada, I don't know how they operate, I don't have family there, my friend that applied for me stays in New York.

What if I go and things didn't work out fine, I lose my 210k job and lose Canada job.

Pls should i do. Help

Alots of factors determines building collapse, most exspecially the soil structure, foundation, supervision, quality of materials, skilled personnel, pressure, funding, timing, salary payment.....as said, it was meant for 15 floor but later increased might be due to greed, on the part of the owner, the soil bearing capacity, what type of foundation was done, what's the depth, was the project properly supervised by a registered or trusted engineer, was workers paid well, where they pressured to beat up dead line of completion, was qaulity materials used....

This is incorrect for this situation. Once the load bearing capacity has been determined, a foundation is recommended to SUIT the proposed type/weight of the intending structure.
If for instance Qty 20 @25m depth piles is deemed fit to carry such a structure, it should be adheard to, if for any reason extra floors/loads will be added, a redesign of the foundation elements is a MUST. Because adding extra weight will take up the factor of safety (FS) already accounted for in the initial design.

You CAN'T use a foundation designed for 15 suspended floors for 21 floors, except the engineers conceptualized further addition in future, and made appropriate provisions for that.

Load bearing capacity of the soil is determined and a foundation is recommended. If you build on recommended foundation, it can handle 30 floors

The issue of adding extra floors or modifying actual building is only to avoid paying more in approval fees, not because of the foundation.

LASPPPA calculates fees based on floors and size of building. Many developers actual do something outside what is approval and this is very common in Lagos State. Very very common in 90% of buildings in Lagos State

If during the design of the building, provisions where made to capture that, then its absolutely fine, BUT if not, then na wahalaaaaa them dey find

The main factor here isn't the issue of quality of materials in my opinion, but clear violation of the engineers design.
A house designed for 15 floors, now extended to 21 even after the engineers raised an alarm... no no no, the owner is evil, wicked and greedy. He should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. The regulatory agency that also allowed such, should also be made to face the law.

It was on Wednesday evening, while I was watching Real Madrid match after Bayern Munich tear my ticket, one of my cousin's boyfriend, my close paddy who is a tailor called me and told me that they is this customer of his who is a custom officer, that the man called him earlier that he has a slot which he like to give him but unfortunately for him, he doesn't have a result yet, so he decided to notify me if am interested, I said why not, he texted the man's number and I called him, told him I was the one Ben said he was going to recommend to you. He said ok. Asked for my location and other necessary questions which I was all good. He then said they are doing replacement, and he has a slot which he wanted to give to his tailor, Ben, but he wasn't qualified, so since am interested, the deal will be that, after the camp training, FG will be giving us 550K for accommodation and upkeep, that out of it, I'm going to remit 200k to the slot owner, he ask if am ok with it, I said yes. What got me broken was when he said I was going to buy the form for 25k, that he is going to send account details to me by 7am on Thursday. After payment, I should come to custom office with evidence of payment for documentation and other proceedings, I said ok sir.. then I told one of my friends wey we been the watch match, immediately he just said na "scam", that he often receive such calls too but all na planned scams, that why him no give any of im family members wey e come be stranger like me. my heart became troubled, thoughts going through mind " is this genuine, no be scam be dis". Mind you, I don't know this man from anywhere. Called Ben and asked him, when last you see this said man, he said 3months ago. "If I borrow money pay this 25k and this man block my line nkor.." That same day he said the documentation is holding, I have another very important and mandatory assignment to face that morning, couple with the fact that I just lost my grandmother that day and needed to travel weekend, had just from 9:30pm to 7am to make decisions. Everything was just rigid for me that moment, I just got discouraged and forget about it, because I was finding it hard to trust people this days, because of experiences in the past... So later that evening I called Ben so we could meet one on one, when he explained everything to me, which was more detailed than what he told me on phone, even played a recording of their conversation. that was when I realized it was actually true, he is a custom officer from his pictures I saw, "na big man, why would 25k be a problem to him", Ben said. Also he didn't even call or pressurise me to send the money unlike other scammers. Tears almost rolled out my eyes. Couldn't sleep last night, couldn't stop regretting the chance I just missed.. now I feel depressed and hard on myself for not taking the risk..

And still they won't mention their names, how do you expect this to stop??

Call their names, shame them, confiscate the property, drag them to court and serve them a very long prison sentence without an option of fine. Others will learn.

My mind dey even whisper to me say hiding their names will give room for backyard settlement and bribe collection... wetin I know seff
