Thank you sir

bassdow:
can't suggest any at your price range. Except you want to buy USED.

See eh, suggesting ain't even enough because of lots of rePackaged batteries in the market.

Buy yeye batttery, and you would find yourself having them changed every year. e no go even complete 12-months sef.
First e go start to QUICK full, then e go start to QUICK low
You're better off buying USED quality battery that still have strength, than those funny brand new batteries wey full market. Even their price cheap pass USED batteries.

if you can't afford all the batteries you need, buy in bits - first buy quality solar panels, then quality [used] chargeController (MPPT is better) of higher capacity, then you could get away with buying cheap [used] inverter (depending on your energy requirements, sachet inverter should do), after which, should you need 5-batteries, just buy what your money can carry and manage it.
whenever you have more money, add extra solar panels and add to your existing setup. Solar panel is hardly enough. Just keep adding tll you have had at least 15-pcs of 300Watts panels. I don't often trust those panels of higher wattage, dem fit no complete. Also leave canada based Panels, na Nigeria we dey abeg.

Then constantly be on the lookout for quality USED batteries for sale. No go buy just any USED battery Ooo. OR better still save to buy a few batteries BUT most times, you might not actually need much batteries if you responsibly size your loads.
You don't have to run your Fridge / Freezer the entire day. You could power it ON from the moment your battery bank is Filled up (say 12PM), and Time is less than 3PM , and as soon as it's 3:30PM , you power it off, that should be approoximately +3 hours which is kinda enough. tell your household they shouldn't open the Fridge or freezer any how.

If you have things like Pumping machine, get a generator to power it. No need using solar on it. Leave that for those with deep pockets.

Just focus on overSizing your solar Panels. if you have much more of the panels, you would require less batteries, except you intends running lots of heavy loads at night and for long periods.
With overSized solar Panel array, you could even comfortably run your AiirConditioner during the day.

You also mustn't buy Tubular batteries, the normal Dry cell woorks well also. What matters is it's quality.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Successbay: 9:20am On Nov 13, 2023
What quality batteries, would you suggest instead sir??

bassdow:
Oga I beg you don't do this. there's no good brand New 200AH Tubular battery in that price range. Except you looking for something much lower in terms of capacity and quality.

The cool thing about buying cheap Solar batteries, whatever money you think you've saved, would be spent later in multiple folds.

Rather than buy 5 pieces of low quality batteries, kukuma wait or buy fewer of higher quality batteries

gentlesoul83:
For the block boards HDF, the plywoods in it are not plied there are small small blocks of plywoods that are cut inside and joined together, So there is possibility of them falling off if the board is been cut. But for the normal HDF the plywood in it is direct plywoods so it can fall no matter any size you cut them to.

This is well noted,

Thank you.

diordaves:
Why spend the funds before completing his work? The issue is budgeting or better put, lack of budgeting skills.

Budgeting skills is the ability of an individual to adopt a proactive approach towards managing their company's money and also their personal funds leading to the growth of the business. Budgeting skills involve conscious decision making about allocation of money such that expenditures do not exceed the income. Most artisans have the trade skills but lack big time the budgeting skills to allocate appropriately huge funds. This is the reason you would notice an artisan who keeps getting trade and has been in the business for a number of years, yet they are still small. No personal growth. No company growth. Then you would ask yourself; if you keep getting trade, why are you still small in company outlay? No assets, no tools, no machinery. Still that basic rudimentary set-up you started with 20 years ago - Lack of budgeting skills.

So as a homeowner, when you are awarding jobs to artisans, just be aware of this. Don't bombard them with so much scopes leading to so much huge financial allocation. Break the job down into chunks (small segments) and allocate funds accordingly. Only make further funds allocation when the previous segment has been completed satisfactorily. This is known as project management. The homeowners who run into HUGE difficulties with their tradespeople are the homeowners who failed to manage the processes of their project.

It is of note that some Nigerian professional graduates also don't have budgeting skills. So, in no time they run into difficulties.

This is very sad and quite disappointing. I wonder how fast people change. You can give the job to another artisan while you go after him for your full refund.
PropertiesRe: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by Successbay: 6:45pm On Dec 11, 2022
The true picture....

somehow:
I doubt people like him can refund, he must have spent the money, hence the delays and use of substandard materials/finishes.

The story is always very similar, once they start posting you and bringing up various excuses, be rest assured that they have spent your money on personal effect.
PropertiesRe: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by Successbay: 6:39pm On Dec 11, 2022
Succinct and on point sir,

Your points are well noted for for action and for future jobs.

Well appreciated.

diordaves:
This is an unfortunate read. Unless I'm getting my lines crossed, I thought he posted sometime ago that he has restituted the situation?

Going forward, put measures in place to recover your money. At this point decommission him immediately. Chasing him to complete the job is just good money chasing after bad. He obviously doesn't have the capacity and capabilities to complete the job to the standard and quality you expect.

As you select a trade to complete the job, take this: Unless, the trade is a demonstrated builder, NEVER give multiple scopes of Job to a single tradesperson or artisan. For example, Adedward is a window guy. Period. Don't commission him to supply you sand for example.

A plumber is a plumber. Period. Come plumb the site and leave. Period.

A roofer is a roofer. Come keep the site dry and leave.

If you are not making use of a builder, then go the direct labour route. An aluminum trade has no business with your roof or knocking down walls for example. Give that scope of work directly to a specialist tradesperson. It is called core competence.

With this approach, you avoid the situation where just one trade is holding the whole project to ransom because so much scopes have been allocated to them and many of the scope they don't have core competence. They will obviously contract these out to third parties cheaply or pretend to use 'boy'. This is where the problems start.

All the best.

Thanks chief,

Your comments and concerns are well appreciated.

Beframia:
This is quite sad, I feel your pains my brother. I once had a similar experience such that I had to instruct that a soak-away be broken almost completely after I re-assigned it to another artisan. Since then, I vowed to always be around during any stage of my project. Some of these artisans are heartless and without conscience, they always wish you would just pay them without them offering any service ...as if money easy to get.
You have stalled for too long at this stage for no fault of yours, you are only trying to help someone who obviously is not ready to be helped.
I'm of same opinion as previous commenters, get another artisan to correct and complete your job while you pursue a refund.
All the best.

Well, we had no issues providing meals for his boy @ any cost, it was done without grudges. After all, I sometimes provide meals for my artisans onsite. I must have included that part to illustrate the extent to which he was accommodated, so he can get the job done..

No ill feelings meant, whatsoever. Gracias.

May we not fall into the hands of parasitic artisan/contractor.

Some of them do not care about the stress you used in gathering the money they're willing to squander.

Thank you FEGEITOK for your sincere response and concern.

I had thought it through, that the best is to contract the job to other artisans. I asked him when he came around if the poor job he did, matches the standard of the house?? He even damaged some of my window edges in the course of fixing the frames..sad..

Sorry for your own share of experience, I know there are diligent and honest artisans, identifying them is the main issue. I wouldn't mind referrals.

Thank you sir.

FEGEITOK:
Successbay, please contract other artisans to complete the work and then activate cost recovery mechanisms.

It is obvious, that he does not intend to execute the contract to the full.

Unless you don't want to enjoy the comfort of a well built house.

I have had my own fair share of disappointments with artisans and I am now resolved to have multiple options and to never wholely and solely rely on one person.

To illustrate, I left work to complete a project that I have been doing only on weekends due to lack of time.

I would call an artisan and agree that he would show up the next day, and the next day he fails to show up on the grounds that I should have called him again on the morning of the day he was supposed to show up. I said I wasn't aware that agreements have to be renewed on the morning of the day they were supposed to be enforced.

In another case, he said he did not have transportation and then I sent him transportation and he never showed up, I messaged him he did not respond. When the guy who introduced him reached out to him, he claimed he had no airtime to inform me and most importantly, that he went to another job site.

I know there are honest artisans, but they seem to be the exception rather than the rule.

Now, I will not have time during the week anymore and all that I planned to achieve during my days away from the office did not happen due to the disappointment and the need to find alternatives to stand in at the last minute, meanwhile I had a deadline to finish all the work by this weekend

Thank you for your response Gbadexy, Yes he did advertise lands in Mowe.

gbadexy:
From the word go, the signs has been there that he needed money urgently for his personal use but you showed empathy to give him legitimate jobs to make that money, something someone like me would still do.
His very big mistake was not properly leveraging on his reputation to get such several other jobs to make up whatever he wants to use the money for in a proper way.
Whatever any money is given for any job, any serious minded contractor would make the whole sum in profits from several regular jobs with assurance of regular referrals and repeat customers that would make the initial seemingly big money look very pale in comparison.
There has been similar complaints by a reputable client I supplied here also but he too was reluctant to give too much details here so as not to totally affect his chances.
If he is reading it, know that what you stand to lose is far more than the little you gain. I wish for you that whatever you are going through is resolved but try and salvage this situation.
It won't be difficult to locate him now that the details are out. Best for him to do the needful fast on his own.
N.B I thought he advertised some lands for sale at mowe recently?
