PoliticsRe: Why We Refused To Sell Cobra Helicopters To Nigeria - US by successking: 10:53am On Nov 15, 2014
Human right violations! Where is Guantanamo bay located?

I have said it before and i will say it over and over again that if the sponsorship of BH in Nigeria is well investigated, there is tendency of establishing a link to US in retaliation to Nigeria's refusal to follow all her evil policies including but not limited to the following:

1. Nigeria bluntly refused to allow US establish her Military Base in Nigeria
2. Nigeria stopped the payment of any contract in crude oil
3. Nigeria rejected monetary policies recommended by Wold Bank and IMF
4. Nigeria signed into law an act criminalizing same sex marriage

and so on.

Just like we defeated Ebola we will defeat BH without US cobra and other military hardware.

There is this raging arguement in my area as to if one could date/marry his/her cousin. Some stood frankly against it while others saw no crack in it. Apart, what is the measure of closeness where one could restrict dating? Is cousin-dating ethical?
There is no need asking whether ethical or not, Just go ahead and date your brother/sister after all is a free world where one does what one wants irrespective of ethics.

Can someone explain this
1 GHC = 10,000 cedis

therefore: 1 usd = 10000 x 3.238
= 32,380 cedis

while 1 usd = 160 naira

Now you can see why Naira and Cedi cannot be compared and explains why the entire West Africa wants Naira as a single currency.

Propaganda cum propagandum. Monies have changed hand. After almost a month? How long does it take to verify the legitimacy or otherwise of a transaction? How can a legitimate deal be made by flying cash around undocumented without the presence of senior officials from the office of the National Security Adviser nor Ministry of Defense nor any of the Service Chiefs. What kind of a deal that will contravene the laws of Money laundering and the CBN cashless policy.. What kind of a "legitimate" deal that will use a private jet belonging to a "Pastor" and Jonathan's ally, ex Armed robber(lols) and controversial figure rather than one of the over 12Presidential Jet? Very funny

It doesn't add up at all. This Jonathanians are not smart at all.
You reason like a baby!

How long will it take you to understand that US and her allies are bent on frustrating every legal means of securing arms to deal with boko haram in Nigeria? This is because Federal Government signed anti gay laws which US and her allies are fighting for its infiltration into every country in world, thereby citing human right abuses to deny Nigeria arms.

If you don't understand, ask one of the primary schools students around you for further explanations.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS NOT THE TERRORISTS

At a time like this, when our troops are taking on Boko Haram and their allies, it is important we do not, knowingly or unknowingly, become tools for their propaganda machinery.

As much as the battle is on the field in certain sections of our country, these evil forces seek to control the media and use propaganda to demoralize Nigerians and propagate terror which is what their campaign feeds on.

We must make deliberate effort not to aid their campaign by not helping them spread fear and terror.

The videos they do, the news headlines they sponsor and the lies they propagate, we must not become their channel to propagate it.

Take a cue from the attached picture below. This is the way to handle terrorists and their propaganda campaign.

They seek attention, they seek to spread fear.

We are Nigerians not Boko Haram! We must take on Boko Haram as one.
You may not be in the field with our troop but you have a role to play.

#SupportOurTroops not the terrorists. This must be our song!
This is a good idea, op, how can we remind the punch newspapers that it is one of the recognized media houses in Nigeria today because of the support of Nigerians and not that of book haram which it is fighting to promote.

ralphcrown1: South Africa has seized the $9.3 million Nigerian cash flown abroad a private jet into its capital, Johannesburg, from Abuja early this month. Two Nigerians and an Israeli were travelling with the plane’s crew at the time the cash, which was not declared, was found on the plane.South African security and Nigeria have launched an investigation into what transpired. The explanation from Nigeria that the money was meant for arms purchase for the Nigeria intelligence agencies, has been rejected by South Africa’s Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) and the National Prosecuting Authority of South Africa (NPA).The NPA, in a statement, according to online publication Premium Times, said the manner in which the money was brought into the country breached the laws that deal with the transfer of foreign exchange of such proportion.
“The money was initially detained by the South African Revenue Service (SARS) as it was not disclosed or declared at customs, and was above the prescribed legal limit for the amount of cash that may be brought into the country,” it said in a statement.
The NPA, according to the medium, said its investigation showed that Tier One Services Group, the firm the Nigerian government claimed it wanted to procure the arms from, is not authorised to sell or rent military hardware.
“In court papers, the NPA submitted evidence that Tier One is not registered with the National Conventional Arms Control Committee and is thus not authorised to enter into any agreements regarding the sale and/or rental of military equipment,” the statement read.
Tier One has apparently issued an invoice to a Cyprus based company, ESD International Group Ltd, ESD, in respect of the procurement of armaments and helicopters to be delivered to Nigeria.
However, South African investigators said the time when the invoice was prepared and the time the money was brought in threw up some serious issues of its true intent.
The money was ferried to South Africa less than a week from the date the invoice was prepared (September 8, 2014). The involvement of a Cyprus based company also heightens the suspicion that this may be a case of classical money laundering. Cyprus is known for its secretive banking system.
The NPA added that the transaction did not follow normal procedure in the procurement of the kind of equipment it was alleged to have been meant for.
The Senate yesterday summoned National Security Adviser (NSA) Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshall Alex Badeh and Chief of Army Staff Lt.-Gen. Kenneth Minimah over the smuggled $9.3 million cash.
Chairman, Senate Committee on Defence, Senator George Sekibo, said those invited to appear before his committee on Tuesday would brief members on the incident.
He said: “ I don’t want to pre-empt issues because I have not heard details about the issue but they will be here on Tuesday.”
On the soldiers sentenced to death, Sekibo said he was not surprised that death sentence was passed on the 12 soldiers because before they joined military, they were aware of the implication of being involved in mutiny.
He added that before the judgment was passed, the army must have carried out their investigation on the matter.

This will not in any way surprise any sound mind who has been following the trend of events in Africa today, because Nigeria has been claiming the Almighty of Africa and there are visible pointers towards this greatness as a nation. As a result of this, many African countries who feel that they deserve the position of Giant of Africa (SA) are relentlessly fighting to tell the world that Nigeria dose not deserve the position, and this is always expressed at every opportunity like the issue at hand just to show Nigeria in the bad light.

SA can keep the money but must remember that she will pay multiples of that money after Boko Boys have been defeated.

PoliticsRe: Oritsejafor And Company: Tainted And Jittery - Nasir El-rufai by successking: 10:20am On Sep 19, 2014
Gorrbachev: Wen light unexpectedly shines on murkiness, those exposed by the stinging rays often berate the light rather than regret the muck. That is the plight of Ayo Oritsejafor whose private jet was identified as the vessel impounded by the South African authorities for ferrying $9.3m cash into their country. A statement from Eagle Air admitted Oritsejafor's interests in the aircraft, but said it leased the plane to Green Coast which in turn acknowledged hiring the plane out for the trip to South Africa.

Unable to shake off his connection to the plane, Oritsejafor has resorted to abuse and vilification. Were he more reflective, he would be pondering how, of all the private jets available in Nigeria, it was his that came to be involved in a covert arms purchase scandal. Would he have managed any objectivity if the plane involved happened to belong to a prominent person of another faith or political persuasion?

Since abuse is not argument and is incapable of displacing fact, Oritsejafor may care to answer if the jet involved in the scandal is the same one that was "donated" to him in 2012? Did he register it as a commercial aircraft or is the plane illegally moonlighting as one? Has he ever reflected on the impropriety of mixing his religious role with politics? Having strayed into politics, and an irresponsible variant at that, can he expect the veneration enjoyed by his predecessors such as Cardinals Olubunmi Okogie and John Onaiyekan? Why is he the first CAN leader to provoke pitiful mirth and amusement when he is not being derided as a tragedy, a sort of Ichabod, desperate to separate glory from a revered body? Amidst his jitters, Oritsejafor must look beyond the bling to ask himself if it was any of the individuals he abused yesterday that asked him to make his aircraft available for monkey business, or get himself involved in the politics of division.

It is pertinent that we invite the Federal Government to reflect on its role in this episode. Our country needs to bolster its military and security forces with the material resources they need to defeat insurgency and restore security to every inch of its territory. This would require arms imports. But should Nigeria violate the arms export regulations of other countries in this endeavour? Should the FG recklessly impair and jeopardise diplomatic relations by conducting covert arms purchases in friendly countries without the consent of their governments? Such conduct invariably leads to suspicions that such covert arms procurement may not be for purposes of national security.

This instance of arms procurement outside official channels amidst an escalating insurgency must concern every patriot. In his House of Commons statement last week, Mallam El Rufai had alluded to the clear implications of the likely link between governmental murkiness and the escalation in the insurgency. The government has long tried to explain away its incompetence in upholding security by blaming insurgency on the major opposition party. But it is becoming increasingly clear to many that this insurgency is benefitting the ruling party and the incumbent president by providing them a pretext to postpone elections and, at the minimum, disenfranchise large swathes of the population that have never supported the PDP or voted for Jonathan.

Mallam Nasir El Rufai urges every Nigerian to be vigilant in these troubled times. The tragedy of mindless terror should not be allowed to become an endless catastrophe because of narrow political calculations.

If you had ANY CLUE on SWIFT: what it is and how it works, you wouldn't have made such a reference to the U.S. You wrote "How can a reasonable person transfer money meant for arms through "SWIFT" when it is clear that the American Govt has taken it upon herself....?" What does that infer? Mr. context, please explain in your own words the reason why a person can't transfer money via SWIFT "IF IT IS LEGAL" and heck, please explain, what is the relationship between money transfer via SWIFT and the American Govt..Just in case you forgot what you wrote, here it is again...

The funds cannot be transferred through swift because US has refused to supply arms to Nigeria and relentlessly fighting to ensure no country supplies the needed arms to Nigeria.

What else do you expect the Government to do, fold her arms and watch BH take over Nigeria on the account US's refusal to let arms get to Nigeria?

Btw, is arms dealing not a trade? Don't U.S., Russian and Chinese companies and their govt trade in arms? How is the settlement done? Through the backdoor right? Why can't the Nigerian govt, just like others do not transfer money through that same system? Answer that question and then come back with another answer... For once, CONDEMN THIS ACT. As much as I like GEJ, his officials goofed on this one... Period. If it wasn't that Nigerian Govt was involved, this is a clear case of money laundering.
The settlement of the arms cannot go the same way other countries do, because the country (US)that believes she has equal power with God is poised to ensure that Nigeria is divided in 2015 through blocking of arms shipment to Nigeria.

For an information to every Nigerian on this medium, Nigeria has military officers on diplomatic appointment in various countries. They are called Defence Attache, Deputy Defence Attache and some other military office holders. Also, Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA) has officers in some countries as well. What has the U.S. Govt got to do with SWIFT? Please don't throw acronyms you have no idea what is all about. SWIFT is a network that enables banks worldwide to exchange financial transaction information. IT IS NOT A CLEARING OR SETTLEMENT HOUSE.
Most of the funds transfers in today's business environment is done through SWIFT because of its widely acceptance due to openness and transparency upon which the funds are transferred.

The above position of the Federal Government is not only ludicrous, it is laughable, untenable and a story only fit to be told to the marines. The following rhetoric posers are germane to this issue:

Is it really faster and safer to do an international transaction of such magnitude by ferrying cash across the continent or by a simple wire transfer that can go through in a matter of few minutes or few hours?

If, indeed, the matter involves security issues like the purchase of arms by a foreign government like Nigeria, why was the South African Government not brought into the picture beforehand?

How could the South African Government be sure that the arms were purchased legitimately by the Nigerian government and not by insurgents if they were not officially informed beforehand?

If indeed the manufacturer(s) of such equipment was/were expecting such large amount by cash, why did they not make adequate arrangements with the authorities in South Africa to declare and clearvthe cash on arrival?

Why was money belonging to the Federal Government and meant for purchase of equipment for the Federal Government moved by a private jet and by private individuals and why were they not accompanied by the officials of the Department of State Services or the office of the National Security Adviser in official capacities?

Why would a government that is at the peak of promoting the cashless policy in our economy be the chief breaker of that policy by moving such a large amount by cash?

If, indeed, it was a legitimate transaction of the Federal Government, why were the officials of our embassy in South Africa not on hand to make the entry easier and smoother?

Gbawe2: Don't let these fools get to you. The truth, for pragmatically intelligent critical thinkers across the entire Universe, is that occurrences so far shows that the ruling PDP Party and Government is a divisive and deceptive 'enemy within' antagonist working against the people of Nigeria. Folks should face the economic reality of today to note that Nigeria is absolutely nothing, either way, to the USA currently.

Genuinely intelligent and truthful folks will realise that there is nothing we do for the USA today that can be considered of 'critical importance'. If we do not fool ourselves continuing to focus on past glory, and a time when shale was non-existent and dependence on fossil fuel was not becoming less of an issue daily, then it would be obvious that Nigerians are currently overestimating the importance of their Country and the main 'benefit' (crude oil) we offer to the comity of Nations on earth.

What do we really bring to the table these days for anyone to prop up the theory that others view us a threat to be "destroyed"? If anything, the reality shows that the USA and other Western Nation would be fully committed to preventing Nigeria failing and becoming another very big headache in the fight against a fundamentalist and terror-based ISIS (Islamic State) agenda that is now perceived to be gaining ground dangerously and forcing world leaders to meet urgently. We are dealing with conjecture and hearsay here but the truth is that the only plausible reason the USA will only stop Nigeria buying weapons to fight fundamentalist terror is if the belief is that the Nigerian FG is duplicitous and in cahoot with Boko Haram.
From this your genuinely intelligent thinking, prove to us that US did not:

1. predict the break up of Nigeria in 2015.
2. prevent Nigeria from buying arms.
