Hey boss, thanks for keeping the thread alive, you are doing a great job. Our big Tiger generator TG 2700, 6.5 hp, 2.0KVA finally decided to retire after years of faithful Service.

I want to buy a new generator that can handle the water pump in the picture below as well as electrical iron without problems.

There are about 5 ceiling fans in the house, and a TV (they are usually turned off when it's time to pump water) with energy saving bulbs.

Can you please specify the minimum KVA I need to power all those, and if possible a brand name that I can get an original generator.

This can help you with the breakdown

Pumping machine 1.13kw = 1130w
Electrical iron ranges = 1000w to 2000w
let's peg ur iron rating at 1000w
fans 5pcs ranges from 50/120watt pending the inches of your fan, let's peg it at 75watt each =375watt
TV I don't know the inches/size of TV u using but let's say 100watts

Total watt calculated 2.605watts
watts to kva with power factor 0.8 rating

2.605 = 3.263

Generator to power ALL conveniently is from 5.5kva

BUT

if you're to be substituting maybe either pumping machine or Iron

3.5kva is good

yeah, buying an engine is sounds great buh from what i heard, there is no longer elepaq original in stores, my fear is the half engine will be most likely an imitation.
what if i just buy a new cylinder, pistol +rings and the rod ... is that equivalent to half engine i don't wana spend much on that gen.

Both options still boils down to the engineer competency, quality of parts to be replaced for Both half engine and changing of parts will need you to spend.

hello, i av an elepaq constant gen (1kva)2.8hp i have abandoned for over a year, as at that time the gen was make hell of firing noise and hardly start. although am yet to call in an engineer now buh my engr then advice i buy half engine.
The engr i called promise to come weekend, buh i want to ask can ringing or buying new cylinder solve these problem or what do you advice.

can I see the generator pics?. Buying half engine isn't bad it will be likely you are using a new generator if the engineer knows his onions well. Ringing too isn't bad but depends on how good the engineer is and the quality of the replaced items

You shouldn't be worried once it fall between 200v-220v, since you're okay with the noise and it carry your fridge.

Air intake.outlet is that black cover attached to the carpurator. Well I believe the sound is normal from cold start, once it warm up it will balance.. Maybe you take note of that too and also after service too take note. i guess nothing is wrong with your generator

Like today , we left it for three minutes to see if the sound will change . But still same result. It continues till the third attempt , that it now work normal.
We do not change over to gen until we allowed it to run for some minutes before stwiching over to gen .

ON it and load it after a minute and see if the sound drop to normal or not. it's the load that will make the generator noise to balance and work normal not off load.

Prof in the house. Please what could be responsible for the noise that due come out each time I try to put on my gen. It started a month ago. Now the sound is getting out of hand. Although , I do put it off and restart for like three times before it bring the normal sound expected.
We use occasionally and I have called my engineer , but from his response , he seem no to have idea and even when he came , he said it normal ( which was at the Early stage when it started making sound)

I tightened the number 1 but I had a hard start, I had to reduce it and the start became normal.

I didn't advise 1 to be tightened. Did you tighten it to the end? why did you tightened yours?

depend on what you need it for.

1. If it makes too much noise by reducing it will make the sound low a bit and reduce fuel consumption too.

2. is basically for fuel reductions from the capurator when the generator is burning fuel

Increasing or reducing 1 doesn't make u have hard start, causes could be
choke lever in wrong direction, bad plug, soaked air filter, low on gas or fuel.

Yes the higher it make the generator make more noise it consume more fuel.

yes you are right. The total cylinder is the one i am using. I have oando made too but not as durable like total. I have been using it for the past 5years and it is very durable unlike the unbranded fake cylinders that floods the nigerian market. Lots of those cylinders are time bombs.

if I may ask, what do you mean by durable? I have a 3kg container that is over 10years now and I am still using it till now, I have been using since my undergraduate days till now. it has never give any problem despite having burner on it, splash of liquid and food content on it yet it hasn't fail and still using it till date. Should I say that is not durable if it's by the years u highlight as your durable

just admit u bought it at an exorbitant price and move on. "nothing like company made bro, u bought yours 13500 with gas, i can sell to you the same quality @8800(inclusive gas and burner)

I just weak as someone would say a container is specially made for a company. Nothing special, container na container, it's either it is thicker or a bit lighter. Naso one person say Geradisco container is the best and someone else will say BOC gas container is the best. All na same jare
