princesa:
this is the poem

Death be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadfull, for, thou art not soe,
For, those, whom thou think'st, thou dost overthrow,
Die not, poore death, nor yet canst thou kill mee.
From rest and sleepe, which but thy pictures bee,
Much pleasure, then from thee, much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee doe goe,
Rest of their bones, and soules deliverie.
Thou art slave to Fate, Chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poyson, warre, and sicknesse dwell,
And poppie, or charmes can make us sleepe as well,
And better then thy stroake; why swell'st thou then?
One short sleepe past, wee wake eternally,
And death shall be no more; death, thou shalt die.

Sugarbabe, thanx 4 your vote. You 're right. But I 'm also looking at it from the fact that these women are mothers and still maintain that great shape that we all envy. aintain that great shape that we all envy.
hmmn, you're talking like they actually make a conscious effort to keep their figures! grin. Trust me, if they're slim, it's because they're fortunate to be unable to put on weight!(one lady I repect in this aspect is Funmi Iyanda). Until I actually see them for myself in the gym, I won't believe that they are actually "maintaining" their figures! cheesy

for the now . . . nobody! Every rhyme is killing!! My fave lines are: "Strictly rosy, mami u should upgrade . . .i know you're cold - I'll take you to caliente . . .!!!"
I think the rap industry in Naija has just topped a notch! The song makes me miss home the more - no place like Lagos, Nigeria, baby! cheesy

Let's see . . . . to tell you the truth, when u said "celebrity", the first thing I thought you meant were the foreign stars . . . Sorry, do Nigerian female celebrities go through any fitness regime? I figured they had those figures out of nature! grin. At least, none of them have a fitness DVD out like most of the US celebs. Internationally though, Spice Girl Mel B inspires me somewhat. Locally, I'll say Genevieve - one time, she lost a lot of weight to get that Lux commercial . . .

my dear, to show you how much I admire her, I don't need her to pay me - I'll promote her for free!!! See, I don't like rihanna or her music, but i KNOW she's talented, beautiful, and worth every fan she has. But I'll never call her wack, tho' she doesn't do the hottest live shows. Beef for Bee is so incredible, it'll make any self-respecting music-lover's hackles rise! Please, all u haters: to the left grin.  Now I'm off to jam to my favorite song on the album - DIVA. tongue
CelebritiesRe: Which Is The Best Song On I Am: Sasha Fierce by sugabelle: 7:30am On Apr 30, 2009
girl, u're in the lowest minority( grin) of those who think she's wack. If you hate her personality, I'll understand, cos girls with self-esteem issues usually have problems with girls with beauty, talent and class. Also, thirty million or so people who buy and love her album can't be wrong - will you call Obama fans drones just because they're so many? Chick, check yourself. If you say you don't like her music too, no worries. But don't you ever go saying her music is wack. The lyrics, music, beats and videos are now a phenomenon and Rodney Jerkins has called her a living legend. So. Sorry iice, your minority vote doesn't count! grin grin
CelebritiesRe: Which Is The Best Song On I Am: Sasha Fierce by sugabelle: 7:20am On Apr 30, 2009
@YungDoc,

please, no need to apologise; what u have spoken initially, was quite correct. Whoever thinks Bee is wack, must be lacking taste. I'm pulling no punches now, cos the beefers get vocal when they want to diss the queen. A notable entertainment critic said recently that anyone hating on Beyonce, is indirectly hating on themselves, because she represents all that is good and pure and beautiful in our world today. If a fellow woman can say this about a singer, then wot else? And when Keri Hilson had the guts to call out Bee in one of her latest songs, the whole industry was pissed!

the only part of your statement I didn't agree with was when you mentioned Rihanna and Bee in the same sentence. Dude, for now, in fact from day one IMHO( cheesy) Rihanna just doesn't come close. Why do I say so? When it comes to stage/live performances, Rihanna has a lot to learn - but we all know Bee is the queen of LIVE! Rihanna's a favourite, but I'll mention six female stars in the industry before I mention Rihanna.

I've spoken my mind (true story). I'm not a fanatic grin, but I'm an ardent admirer of Bee, and the more pple hate on her, the more I find reasons to think she ROCKS!!!!!
LiteratureRe: Is Death Really That Scary? by sugabelle: 5:01am On Apr 30, 2009
Heck yes, death is scary! But unlike many things in life like losing your job or having your heart broken, death happens only once. I guess it's the fear of the unknown that makes talking about death give rise to all sorts of superstitions - and believe me, Nigerians are one of the most superstitious people in the world!

i asked you simple, straight froward questions and also brought ur attention to some comments you made and on each occassion your response has been rather harsh.

to have something on 'firm authority' and hearing her say something during an interview arent quite the same. it is rife for closet homosexuals to initially deny thier sexuality before admitting it.

we no dey fight oo.make u calm down madam.
Was that what you called a simple, straightforward question? Excuse me if i took offense from what you were obviously implying. Like I said, what - ever. undecided

OMO IBO:

by the way, i hope you know lesbians can adopt children?
I knew you'd say that! Look, it's obvious you want her to be gay, that's your only explanation for why she acts and looks the way she does. It's your choice. Whatever.

You have spent to much time abroad and now you are seeing  london bridges in your dream.  Please let me remind  you.  Your so called elites have deprived the people so much that we have lost our ability to think thus leading the same confused people to go back to the elites to beg for food.  Dear friend it is a hopeless situation.  Nobody wants to die it is far easier for me and you to say to the people "go and fight for your rights from overseas. " I stongly believe that the elites have systems in place which weakens one's might
Thank you!!! cheesy

PS, if londoner will kindly take the initiative, I will gladly join the queue in the quest of 'taking responsibility'.

Kobojunkie:
Question: Do you have proof that your vote does not count, Or do you just assume that if your side looses, your vote did not count?

Question:  Are you sure the common man is being cheated in all this Or is he only getting exactly what he has worked for in this?

Question:  If Democracy implies that the common man be highly involved in the making of his future, would you then consider that the common man is largely responsible for the current situation in which he finds himself giving that the average Nigerian tends to push blame for all things wrong on those he tags KINGPINS, while he sits and waits for the same KINGPINS to magically change their evil ways one day?

Question: How involved is the common man who claims to be cheated in this system, in government? Note the meaning of democracy as you respond to this question.

Question : Are the "almighty riggists" ordinary Nigerians or politicians? Does Yar adua come down from Aso Rock to rig the ballot boxes?
Too many questions!!!!! cheesy

But seriously, whose side are you on? From June 12 you should know that the "masses" have always known the meaning of democracy and how to use it. They voted, their choice was made, and their choice won. But then things changed, and now you seem to be blaming us. My friend, I have no other point to make than to answer you in general and say, forget the semantics and the particulars, we the common man are the injured party(pun definitely intended) and we are completely blameless in what the political environment has become.
CelebritiesRe: Is Asa Gay? by sugabelle: 10:44pm On Apr 27, 2009
@ poster, just because a girl doesn't wear (much) make-up or sexy clothes, and is neva seen with a male escort, Nigerians generally label her as gay. They did that to poor Weird MC, even the babe had to pretend to be gay just to please the nosy fans. Please, I don't think Asa's a lesbian, and i won't believe it till she comes right out and says so!

I can’t read your mind to know what you mean. The ruling power? Last I checked, in a democracy, the ruling power ought to be the people.
Question: Are you saying the people are the problem here? Question: You mean the people should not vote but assume the ballots have already been counted?
Question: How can re-stating the very same answer my question?
sorry, please read the whole post as made by mikeansy, that's what I was refering to as an answer. You can't read my mind, no, but u must get my point. No matter the guilty party(pun intended cheesy), whether the political thugs or the kingpins of democracy, we the common man are being cheated, especially when we go out to vote and invariably, what ever we have chosen, we will never know, because the choice has already been made by the almighty "Riggists." cool

Question: Do you have proof that your vote does not count, Or do you just assume that if your side looses, your vote did not count?
lol. U make me laugh. U know what I mean, come on. When in Nigeria, the ruling power makes it "do or die" to ensure their political victory, then the vote of the average common man, will never count. We shouldn't bother even leaving the house to go out and vote - the ballot has already been counted. tongue

mikeansy:
Folks this is a serious matter

A resident electoral commissioner for Ekiti is on record to have suggested that 15,000 votes were added by a party and she was being pressured to announce that result even though it was not signed by the monitors on ground.

Votes dont count in Nigeria.

Question: Who actually rigs the vote?
Option: The very politicians trying to get elected Or people paid off by these politicians?
Answer: Who cares?

An election where u vote but u're 100% sure ur vote does not count, is rubbish. Unless everyone who was ever involved in politics since the early 90's suddenly dies off, I don't think there can ever be a credible election in Nigeria. Any more questions? wink
