The writer's style is really good and commendable for a Nigerian fiction writer. Kudos Umari Ayim. I'd like to buy the full novel when its out. Story line may be a bit predictable but its classic and timeless and im sure the writer can throw in a few twists later on. who knows?

linearity: I think you are confusing 'most important' with 'most effective' or 'most influential' or other pedigrees given to successful leaders....

Any Nigerian President should make the world most important list just by the mere fact that, we supply the world with their oil need.

I think he was even cheated, he should have been around number 8 or number 10 most important person on earth seeing that, Nigeria is the 8th largest oil producing countries in the world.....that is what they see us as important in.

If anything happens that stop oil flow in the Niger Delta for a very long time...I would not be surprise to see the world turn on Nigeria and deploy foreign troops down there to make sure the oil keep flowing...

My thots exactly. Its not necessarily GEJ who is on that list, its the President of Nigeria. And NL Nigerians who are so anti nigeria jst come up here bashn d guy without understanding that fact. SMH

But I thought from the post of OP, the elections have been won and lost already
N.B- "he contested against the ganiyat and lost the sit to her" coupled with the fact that if he was the SRC rep., would he be able to face his father and woe him into dashing some if not all of them some small stipends for a life well lived, this should happen more just my thought thou come to think of it "what was he actually bribing/settling/giving them a largese for O?" Coz theirs practically nothing at stake at that level except I can't see.

Excellent reasoning.
Education / Re: Law Students Fight Over Tinubu's "Settlement" by Sugardiva(f): 6:14pm On Mar 31, 2012
While I'm sure the students scramble is quite shameful but let's be honest y'all. If u were one of d students involved and u knew a large amnt of money was released n it didnt get to u, wld u kip mute n do nothn abt it? And by d way d Seun guy had alreadi lost to Abiola's daughter in d SRC elections according to d story so how does his donation help him considering the fact dt the SRC election takes place only once n d winner holds office thruout d entire law sch year?

I didn't say you should apologize, I was just you should leave people in their own delusions.

So, what do you think about Naija girls? Do naija girls have amazing body? I'm just asking because most Naija girls I know are mostly blessed in the 'front' department but average in the 'back' department. I'll like to know what naija girls in naija are like. I know Ghanaians, Sierra Leoneans, East Africans and South Africans are naturally blessed in the 'back' department IMO. That's why I created this thread in the first place. wink

As u said beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. When u visit naija make ur own generalizations conclusions. smiley
Romance / Re: Are Nigerian Girls In Nigeria Really Ugly? - Please I Need The Truth by Sugardiva(f): 11:47am On Mar 30, 2012
shymmex:

You shouldn't let things like that get to you. I know girls like being complimented, but if you believe in yourself - things like that shouldn't get to you. Like they say, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder - and everyone has what they define beauty as.

For me, I don't really care about overly pretty girls - I prefer girls with average looks but a body to die for. Bittyend may be myopic in his generalizations but his own opinion may be based on his own opinion on what beauty should be. You can't knock him for that, and you shouldn't.

Sadly not many women believe that confidently in themselves and it is our responsiblity not to make life miserable for them. And yeah bittheads entitled to his foolish genralization. His opinion no matter how stupid and insensitive is his after all and i shldnt knock him for that. I probably shld apologize. smiley

shymmex:

That's bittyend!

Compliment is just a phrase, there is no biggy giving it where it's due.

But bittyend got under your skin, though. Do you have a weakness, when it comes to the way you look?

Yeah he did get under my skin. Nope i dont have any weakness, im only sensitive to d topic because late last year i voluntered at a shelter for women who were victims of verbal and physical abuse and u would not believe how broken they were. You have no idea what hearing stuff like the contents of these threads can do to a depressed nigerian woman. There are careless words to some of us but they can break a womans's spirit and every time i see these posts the faces of those young women at the shelter come to mind and it just pisses me off.
Politics / Re: Soldiers Escort 4000 Fulani Refugees Into Cross River by Sugardiva(f): 11:11am On Mar 30, 2012
shymmex:

Your question has no correlation with the topic at hand. Cross River is not a "tiny one room apartment" and 40,000 fulanis living in a state - with more than 1million efik and annang people won't cause the same problems "40 homeless relatives" will cause by moving into my "tiny one room apartment." Cross River is an oil producing state with a small population, and arguably one of the richest states in Nigeria.

I think the problem with fulanis is cattle grazing, and I think if the government can provide a place for them to do that - rather than allow them wander around the nooks and crannies of Nigeria - they would be less troublesome.

Wow! One of the reasons why i like responding to u is because u have a certain level of intellectual maturity and ur posts usually show u have knowledge abt wat u are saying. Pls do not make me form another impression, Make sure of ur facts before u post them (No offence intended.)

For one there are absolutely no annangs in CRS. Secondly, CRS can no longer be considered as oil producing (and hasnt been for the past couple of years or so) as all her oil wells have been ceded to cameroon via bakassi and the rest have been wrestled by the neighbouring Akwa ibom state. CR is arguably one of the poorest state in Nigeria getting almost minimal Federal allocation and having no industries and the like to boost her revenue except for the little she gets from her still struggling tourism industry. The fulanis were taken to 3 little villages in Obanliku LGA of the state and the aaggregate population of these villages is roughly equal to the number of refugees imposed on them. Get the picture?

If u answer my question honestly, u will understand where im coming from with my arguments.

shymmex:

What's funny? You think I deny compliments or what? I'll never do that!

No offence intended dude. I didnt mean it like that. Its just that biittheads denial was nothing short of legendry and its funny thats all.
