Culture / Re: Her Father Refuse To Return His Bride Price. by suggyspic: 1:32pm On Apr 16, 2015
LewisO:
Won't it be a disgrace to ask your father in-law to refund the bride's price?

Why can't u just forget it and move on?

Emenike have move on, but the woman want him to collect the bride price. her father is a no strict man and would not be part of those that would take bride price twice.

Badgers14:
Every culture is different. On my side of the fence, the lady will never remarry (traditionally) unless the first bride price was returned. i.e, it is a taboo to collect bride price from 2 different families for one person. but on the guys side, I dont think it have any repercurssion, I have to consult on that.

Just like some cultures, if a lady cheats on her man, something will happen to her but if the man does cheat, nothing will happen to him ( i am not saying its fair but that what tradition dictates.)

this is the very reason Emenike want his bride price. The wife have been disturbing him to ask her father for the bride price. Maybe she has meet another man and her father refuse to listen to the new husband.
Culture / Re: Her Father Refuse To Return His Bride Price. by suggyspic: 5:35pm On Apr 14, 2015
@worry357: Your words lack advice on the subject matter. In most culture if the bride price is not returned, it mean she is still his wife. No matter how little the amount may be.

When my sister got married sometime in 1998, my dad told the man to live with her for 5years and bring what ever he deems fit to him as his bride price. In this case if the marriage is over before the due date, there would be nothing to return.

but in Emenike case, the bride price was 20k and the father returned 1k to him that they don't sell their daughter, with the instruction that whenever she is dead, the body must be returned to him. This is enough reason for him to ask for the bride price.

Op let her go. I was in your situation some years back, its not easy but you will be grateful she left. life is too short to be sad over one woman. I am talking out of experience.
Culture / Her Father Refuse To Return His Bride Price. by suggyspic: 2:49pm On Apr 14, 2015
Emenike got married to Juliet in 2008, after five years of marriage, they broke up in 2013. Emenike tried every thing possible to make her(Juliet) stay but her mind was made up. She left the marriage in spite of her father asking her to be patient and stay. Juliet's father told her that she knows the culture that once you are married and the bride price has been paid, she cannot bring any other man to remarry her.

Two years after the breakup Emenike wants the father to refund him the bride price, but the father refuse telling him that he is still his son-in-law till death.

Is this true that in Delta state that bride price cannot be returned?

What other method can Emenike use to collect his bride price, considering the fact that his kindred have made efforts towards the issue.

Can the customary court compel the father to give back the bride price?

N/b. They WEre only married in the traditional way.
Politics / I Had This Feeling In 1998, Now Its Back. Would I Get Over It? by suggyspic: 4:11pm On Apr 09, 2015
Different stroke for different folks, some may be wondering what is this one writing about. Sincerely since the march 28 Presidential Election that Gej lost, i have never felt so angry and sad for a long time. The last time i had this feeling was when Nigeria lost to Denmark in France 98 world cup. Each time the topic is discussed, the feeling comes back. Would i ever overcome it if GEJ's name is mentioned in future.

I know many supporters of GEJ out there have develop hard skin and have a way of getting over things easily. Please share the secret of how you felt, especially for those who would be disappointed when the results of the Governorship election in their state is out.

I have decided to share this here not for nairaland members to start any form of insult on my Grandfather but for knowledge purpose. My Grandfather is 84years, very strong and still chases younger ladies (35 - 48) like his life depends on this ladies. Yesterday i went visiting and work into him and the lady making out in the palour. I left in annoyance, wondering what he tells this ladies that they still follow him. . This is not the first time i have meet ladies coming out from his house. At his age, won't the frequent sex affect him or does it make him stronger.

Family / Re: She Confess To Her Husband, Now........ by suggyspic: 5:35pm On Apr 03, 2015
I know its painful, but if she can confess without any one telling her, i believe God have forgiven her. It may not be easy on the marriage, but with time she might make up for her sin.

Family / She Confess To Her Husband, Now........ by suggyspic: 4:44pm On Apr 03, 2015
Her conscience has been eating her up for sleeping with another man. She willingly confessed to her husband and asked for his forgiveness, now he wants to end the marriage. Is the husband right in the decision he is about to take. Were is the place for forgiveness in a marriage. is it not for better or worst.

MY opinion, she deserves a second chance. please your advise would be of help.

Family / The Best Advise From My Late Mothers Diary. by suggyspic: 3:27pm On Feb 12, 2015
I went to the village to cleanup the house in preparation for my late mothers remembrance that would be coming up on 20th, as i was going through her belonging in a sad mood, i came across her diary, a little peep into it, i saw this quote, "The best advise you can take is the one you give yourself". I thought about this quote, and ask myself, what advise have i given myself with the guidance of my mum that i am proud of significantly today. Memories of so many flooded my thoughts. The most outstanding one is the time i failed my Jamb examination and in annoyance wanted to enter the priesthood. I remembered my mum telling me, Uche you are not cut out for this priest-hood thing, why not channel your anger towards making a better grade.

I took the advise, made my choice, applied it and today i have never regretted the changes mums guidance have made to my life. I wonder the kind of priest i would have turn out to be. RIP mummy till we meet to part no more.

Lets share. What significant advise have you given to yourself through mums or dads guidance that you are happy you made?

Politics / Where Would APC Flag Bearer Of Rivers State Get Money? by suggyspic: 5:00pm On Feb 05, 2015
I have watched the APC flag bearer of Rivers State making so much promises of what to do,but he has never told the rivers people were he intends to get money to run Rivers state if elected, considering the fact that His God father Ameachi keeps crying of dwindleing revenue from FAC and IGR. Ameachi is oweing Pensioners over 3months salary and yesterday at the airport he (Ameachi) said no money in the state account and as usual blamed it on the federal govt. Were would Dakuku Peterside get money to run the state?

Family / Eke And His Marijuana Wife. by suggyspic: 1:39pm On Jul 29, 2014
He woke up about 12pm yesterday morning feeling very weak, how long have he slept, Eke was surprise. He has never overslept in his life. Been a self employed welder, Who leaves his house very earlier on a daily basis could not understand why this has happen to him. He thought it may be as a result of the long se{x}the previous night. He hurriedly took his bath, breath fast and went to work.

All through the day he was still feeling sleepy. he called his wife to let her know how he was feeling and she started laughing. Eke could not understand why she was laughing, little did he know his wife used marijuana leaves to cook his beans the previous night. Later in the evening the wife explain to him that she used marijuana leaves to cook the beans because she wanted him to rest a little. EKe was very angry with the wife but she maintain her ground that he would never had agreed to rest if not for the marijuana beans.

How would you react if you are Eke?
Is the wife's action justified?

Am just waiting for 2015 Election to come so i can paste my posters on those pillars. Its a monumental waste. At least the lunatics in Rivers State have a place to rest.

Family / Do You Feel Sick When She Is Pregnant. by suggyspic: 5:00pm On Jul 18, 2014
Have been married for sometime now, but have never felt this sick since she got pregnant. Don't know how true this might sound, but i never felt like this when i had my first and second child. I went to the clinic for some test but the doctor said am OK. The nurse said its something called agwa in Igbo language and it happens when a woman is pregnant and sleeps in the same bed with the husband. My little daughter is not sick but seem to feel same way. I have been advise by some friends not to sleep in the same room with her. i don't believe in this crap story. someone said its because am bringing another life into this world and that the feeling is normal.
Fathers did u have any weird feeling when she was pregnant.
Mothers are you aware of this feelings.
Assuming this is true, what is it called in your language.
My apology to the bachelors and spinsters.

I am a Rivers Man and well grounded in Rivers Politics. Ameachi is dreaming. Ameachi's Problem Continues (APC) will never win Governorship election in RIvers State. we don want to wait and see. Let Ameachi conduct Local Government Elections as a litmus test of how Rivers People view and receive his APC. Kettle calling pot black.
