Neverslumber:It will be wise to start exploring other opportunities elsewhere. Although, I believe that some of them may be transferred to other departments when they figure out which way forward. For now, the company is in bad shape unfortunately. No profit like before

They can’t make a damn payment for a roasted corn….or fix the economy. - Jagaban!! ![]() |
Weeks after Tinubu's election, Unilever Nigeria has announced its exit from the home care and skin cleansing markets in Nigeria to find a more sustainable and profitable business model, and people are wondering if they want to explore roasted corn market. Nigerians may soon bid goodbye to popular brands such as Sunlight, Omo, Closeup, LifeBuoy, Vaseline, Dove, or Knorr as Unilever Nigeria is exiting home care and skin cleansing, to simply remain profitable. In 2021, these products earned the company, which has operated in the country for around a century, more than half its revenues. This information was made known by Unilever Nigeria’s Secretary, Abidemi Ademola, who made the revelation in a corporate notice to the Nigerian Exchange Limited and signed. QZ reported that cash crunch and an expensive dollar are squeezing Unilever out of Nigeria. Unilever has enjoyed success in Nigeria for a whole century, but things are now getting tough. Unilever is cutting down production in Nigeria. The company has cited the country’s worsening economic condition for its move, which could now add to the woes of Africa’s biggest economy. Established in 1923, Unilever Nigeria has, for decades, been banking on the west African nation’s young and vibrant population. However, things are not looking good for them now. President-elect Bola Tinubu campaigned in February on promise of stabilizing the economy. Now, Unilever’s exit from the two production lines implies job losses—755 people worked for it in fiscal 2021—compounding Nigeria’s employment crisis. SmartPolician:What about the supreme court previous ruling about getting 25% in FCT as a constitutional requirement? |
ubest1:And to make it more controversial, it was previously ruled and decided in 2008, according to Aondoakaa, who was Nigeria's justice minister at that time. Which way Naija! |
9jatriot:But why was he not qualified to contest at all? |
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s former AGF Aondoakaa, Insists Tinubu Must Score 25% in FCT to Be Declared Winner. “The Constitution says you must get 25 per cent in 24 states, and in FCT, Bola Ahmed Tinubu did not score 25 per cent in the FCT, and since he didn’t score 25 per cent in the FCT, he should not have been declared president as INEC wrongly did,” he said. “It’s a very difficult situation, but the matter has been interpreted before, around 2008, in a matter involving the current President,” Aondoakaa said, adding that “the pronouncement then was that the ‘and’ is used conjunctively; that was the interpretation then. Peter Obi has gone to court. The former Anambra governor and the Labour Party presidential candidate in the February 25 election is asking the Court of Appeal in Abuja to remove the INEC-declared president elect Bola Tinubu and declare himself , Peter Obi, as the president- elect or mandate INEC to cancel the entire election and conduct a new one. Besides, Obi, in his petition at the appellate court, which is serving as the court of first instance as the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT), also raised the contentious issue of the requirement that a candidate must obtain the 25 per cent votes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja in order to emerge as winner of the presidential election . The petitioner also said that Tinubu at the time of the election was not even qualified to contest the election in the first place. Obi subsequently prayed the tribunal to determine that all the votes recorded for Tinubu in the election were wasted votes, owing to the non-qualification of the president-elect and Shettima. Who’s the worst INEC Chairman in Nigeria’s history? |
My country no well |
The European Union Election Observation Mission to Nigeria 2023 on Monday slammed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for failing to live up to expectations in Nigeria’s electoral process. The Chief Observer, EU Election Observation Mission, Barry Andrews, in his preliminary statement of the EU EOM on the governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections said; “Throughout the mission, we saw that Nigerians have a great appetite for democracy and are keen to engage in various civic activities. However, in many parts of the country, their expectations were not met. Many were disappointed and we witnessed voter apathy that is in part, a clear consequence of failures by political elites and, unfortunately, also by INEC. “Public confidence and trust in INEC were severely damaged on 25 February due to lack of transparency and operational failures in the conduct of the federal level polls. “Up until the postponement, INEC continued to abstain from providing information, limiting its communication to a few press releases and ceremonial statements and hence failing to address public grievances and rebuild confidence in the electoral process." Former Rivers State governor and immediate past Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, on Tuesday, said the amount of state funds that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike spent on alcohol in two weeks, was equivalent to the amount he (Amaechi) spent to build one primary school, when he served as governor. “The primary schools we built is 112 million naira, it means that in two weeks, Wike has drunk one primary school. When Wike talks, it is alcohol that is talking. And he’s so shameless about it. Wike told the whole world on live TV that he was drinking a very expensive 40 year old whiskey, in the morning. “We are asking INEC to be neutral. The people have rejected Wike and his government. Every street I went to, people were jumping on top of me shouting. They were remembering that I built 5 flyovers, I did not dance. We employed 400 new doctors, bought cars for 600 doctors, bought ambulances for all the health centres. Read on.. https://dailypostngr.com/2023/03/amaechi-wike-a-drunk-spends-n50m-on-alcohol-weekly/

Interesting! From the inner caucus |
APC Strongman, Rotimi Amaechi, on Saturday, decried voter apathy in the governorship and state assembly elections in Rivers State. The former Minister of Transportation also slammed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the poor conduct of the presidential election, and accused them of MASSIVE FRAUD. “That was how we praised INEC at the beginning of the election on February 25 and it turned out to be one of the worst elections in the history of Nigeria,” Amaechi said. “Now again look at what is going on, total failure of governance in the country. Complete failure”, he added. “Many of us opposed the reappointment of Mahmood Yakubu. The person who nominated him is a member of Tinubu’s camp. So what are you expecting.” Read on https://dailypostngr.com/2023/03/amaechi-decries-voter-apathy-in-rivers-accuses-inec-of-fraud-in-presidential-election/
