Ahmed0336:Who is a LOCAL MAN? |
Dtruthspeaker:Take for instance In a Court Room We have the judge In the court the judge have 3 possiblity of judgement If found not guilty = freedom/set free (heaven) If found guilty then we have two possible judgements, they are: 1. The big offense like killing = life in prison/death (hell) 2. The small offense = few mouths, years in prison after which he/she is set free (purgatory) and if nothing like purgatory then believe me that more than 98% of people in world would not make it to heaven. Take for instance again you are a very good Christian living a faithful life and you insult an okada man drive badly when you are driving and few minutes you die 😏 with out asking God for forgiveness for that insult. Will the insult mean hell 🔥 straight ? |
Basically, to define purgatory is simply a state between heaven and hell, AREN’T SPIRITUALLY GOOD ENOUGH to enter heaven and AREN’T BAD ENOUGH to go to hell. |
The term purgatory comes from Anglo-Norman French purgatorie or medieval Latin purgatorium, used as a noun as purgatorius ‘purifying,’ from the verb purgare to purify. |
IS PURGATORY IN THE BIBLE? 1 Peter 3:18-20 18. For Christ died for the sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit; 19. in which he went and preached to the SPIRITS IN PRISON, 20. who formerly did not obey, when God's patience waited in the days of Noah, during the building of the ark, in which few, that is, eight persons, were saved through water. from this verse it is stated clearly that this people whom Jesus went to preach to , died centuries ago, "the time of Noah", The question now is, where are they? before Jesus went to preach to them, definitely not in heaven, because those there don't need salvation. This Prison or State of purging or purification is what Catholics gave the name PURGATORY. so did anybody had this experience? Yes! Isaiah Has instance Purging before he Can see God in Isaiah 6:5-7. ...*And I said: *Woe is me! for I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.* Then flew one of the seraphim to me, having in his hand a burning coal which he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth, and said: .*.Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin forgiven*. (This passage is a noteworthy of what happens when men experience God's presence directly. Like Isaiah, we must all undergo a self-conscious and voluntary purging upon approaching God more closely than in this present life.) The Bible does not mention the exact word PURGATORY, but instead it makes reference to a place which can be understood as what is referred to as PURGATORY. Isaiah 35:8, ...'And a highway shall be there, and it shall be called the Holy Way; the unclean shall not pass over it, and fools shall not err therein.' Zech 13:1-2 ...'On that day there shall be a fountain opened for the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to cleanse them from sin and uncleanness' 1 cor 3:15 ...'If a man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.' Rev. 21:27. ...' But nothing unclean shall enter it, nor any one who practices abomination nor falsehood, but only those who are written in the Lamb's book of life.' Heb 12:23 ...'enrolled in heaven, and to a judge who is God of all, and to spirits of just men made PERFECT'. Job 14:13-17 ...'Oh that you would hide me in Shoel, that you would conceal me until your wrath be past, if a man DIES, shall he live again?,+ ... I would wait, till my RELEASE should come' To claim that PURGATORY does not exist because the exact word does not appear in Scripture is a failure to understand Scripture. Because the exact word.. Bible does not appear anywhere in the Bible so also do PURGATORY! One might as well even deny that there is something called the Bible because no such name is found in the Bible. Furthermore, one might as well deny the Trinity, Incarnation, and so forth because these exact words are not found in the Bible. Let's see: so should there be such a place like PURGATORY? Yes! Rev. 21:27...' Because Nothing unclean shall enter heaven'... Hebrews 12:14 ..'so therefore Strive for peace with all men, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord' and because we Can't see God unless holy. Heb. 12:14. (Even as Christ Has died for us!) 2 Corinthians 7:1.. 'so therefore let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, and make holiness perfect in the fear of God'. Matt. 12:32 ...'though Some sin may be forgiven in next age' 1 Cor. 3:15 ...'but the just man may be Saved, but through fire (there's no tormenting fire in heaven!)' Isaiah 4:4 ...'By then When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion and cleansed the bloodstains of Jerusalem from its midst by a spirit of judgment and by a spirit of burning (in Purgatory). (see also Isaiah 1:25-26). So all the souls of the just men who are dead, but are still awaiting judgment shall be saved. (from heavenly prison referred to as Purgatory!) Paul knows that's why he was appealing in 2 Timothy 1:16-18. May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me; he was not ashamed of my chains, but when he arrived in Rome he searched for me eagerly and found me may the Lord (Jesus) grant him to find mercy from the Lord (God) on that (Judgement) Day and you well know all the service he rendered at Ephesus. Spirits in prison 1 Pt. 3:18-20 after He died as an appeal to God as does Baptism. Micah 7:8-9 Rejoice not over me, O mine enemy; when I fall (die), I shall rise; when I sit in darkness (Prison /Purgatory), the Lord will be a light to me. I will bear the indignation of the Lord because I have sinned (why?) against him, until he pleads my cause and executes judgment for me (where?). He will bring me forth to the light (from Purgatory); I shall behold his deliverance. (see also Leviticus 26:41,43, Job 40:4-5, Lamentations 3:39) Malachi 3:2-4. But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap; he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi, and refine them like gold and silver, till they present right offerings to the Lord. Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the Lord as in the days of old and as in former years. (2 Macc. 12:44-45). ..*For if he were not expecting that those who had fallen would rise again, it would have been superfluous and foolish to pray for the dead. But if he was looking to the splendid reward that is laid up for those who fall asleep in godliness, it was a holy and pious thought. Therefore he made atonement for the dead, that they might be delivered from their sin.*. ... (1 Cor. 3:13-15) ..*Each man’s work will become manifest; for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work which any man has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.*. We'll begin by making clear just what we mean by in Purgatory.? The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that: All who die in God's grace, but still imperfectly purified, are indeed assured of their eternal salvation; but after death they undergo purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven (1030). This seems so simple. That's why Catholics with the infinite Wisdom of God use the Catechism Book to teach the young ones before they grow and advance on their own. In common sense. The Scripture is very clear when it wrote in, (Rev. 21:27) But nothing unclean shall enter [heaven] Hab. 1:13 says You [God]... are of purer eyes than to behold evil and cannot look on wrong..., How many of us will be perfectly sanctified at the time of our deaths? I dare say most of us will be in need of further purification in order to enter the gates of heaven after we die, if, please God, we die in a state of grace. to explain Purgatory to a friend, family member, or co-worker. A Very Good Place to Start Perhaps the best place to start is with the most overt reference to a .*.Purgatory.*. of sorts in the Old Testament. In 2 Maccabees 12:39-46, we discover Judas Maccabeus and members of his Jewish military forces collecting the bodies of some fallen comrades who had been killed in battle. When they discovered these men were carrying .*.sacred tokens of the idols of Jamnia, which the law forbids the Jews to wear.*. (vs. 40), Therefore he made atonement for the dead, that they might be delivered from their sin..*. They disagree with Maccabees, why? First, they do not accept the inspiration of Maccabees. And second, they will claim these men in Maccabees committed the sin of idolatry, The Catholic Response: Rejecting II Maccabees does not negate its history of the forefathers; because Maccabees helps us in knowing, fully that the Jews believed in praying and making atonement for the dead shortly before the coming of Christ. That's why Jesus commanded in the Matthew 12:32, ..* And whoever says a word against the Son of man will be forgiven; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come (this sounds like Purgatory) This means that at least some sins that can be forgiven of people in the next life (from Purgatory) I Corinthians 3:11-15 should clear the text Sacred Scripture when it comes to Purgatory for us: No Christian can deny this text speaks of the judgment of God where the works of the faithful will be tested after death. It says our works will go through .*.fire,.*. figuratively speaking. In Scripture, .*.fire,.*. is used symbolically in two ways: AS A PURIFYING AGENT (Mal. 3:2-3; Matt. 3:11; Mark 9:49); AND AS THAT WHICH CONSUMES Matt. 3:12; 2 Thess. 1:7-8 So it is a fitting symbol here for God's judgment. Some of the .*.works.*. represented are being burned up and some are being purified. These works survive or burn according to their essential .*.quality.*. impure things cannot be heaven because there are imperfections that need to be .*.burned up.*. (see again, Rev. 21:27, says. .*But nothing unclean shall enter it (Heaven) nor anyone who practices abomination or falsehood, but only those who are written in the Lamb's (Jesus) book of life*\\n , because His eyes can not behold evil ..Hab. 1:13). It cannot be hell because souls are being saved. , So what is it called? .*.the Judgment.*. and we Catholics agree. We Catholics simply specify the part of the JUDGMENT OF THE SAVED where imperfections are purged as .*. Purgatory Objection! First, what are sins, if not bad or wicked works (see Matthew 7:21-23, John 8:40, Galatians 5:19-21)? If these .*.works.*. do not represent sins and imperfections, why would they need to be eliminated? Second, it is impossible for a .*.work.*. to be cleansed apart from the human being who performed it. We are , in a certain sense, what we do when it comes to our moral choices. There is no such thing as a .*.work.*. floating around somewhere detached from a human being that could be cleansed apart from human life on earth. The bible declared that the works will be tested by fire, but .*.if the work survives... he will receive a reward. If any man’s work is burned up, he shall suffer loss..*. And, .*. he will be saved, but only as through fire.*. The truth is: both the works of the individual and the individual will go through the cleansing .*.fire.*. described by St. Paul in order that .*.he.*. might finally be saved and enter into the joy of the Lord.
