Kevin Moody, a roofer from Ellesmere Port, has recently cleared out his ‘man draw’ looking for a key to the shed when he stumbled upon his old Nokia 3310 mobile phone. The phone was still switched on, and had been forgotten about for 20 years. Incredibly the phone still had just over 70% battery remaining. Kevin remarked how he didn’t ever remember charging the mobile, or even owning a charger. Today’s mobile phones, such as iPhones, have an average battery life of around 17 minutes and require plugging in throughout the day in order to have enough power for the bus or train ride home. The Nokia 3310, however, never required charging. http://tellmystory.com.ng/story/nokia-3310-found-in-drawer-after-20-years-still-has-70-battery---incredible

Mummy Abiodun Kumuyi was a virtuous woman who lived what she preached and believed. In her usual quiet and unassuming way, she was able to reach out to a lot of widows and trained a lot of fatherless children. She started women in small-scale business through a scheme whereby they took loans and paid back as their businesses grew. They didn’t pay any interests and with some she wrote off their loans. The British Government has said that international students will henceforth be able to stay and work in the UK after graduating in a policy change that had previously restricted the period to four months. There will be no cap on the number of students who can apply, as those with student visa will be able to apply to switch to a skilled worker visa if they find a job which meets the relevant criteria. The new policy ends one of ex-Prime Minister Theresa May’s most controversial immigration policies which critics argued would deter international students from applying to British institutions and would lead to the loss of bright students who could contribute to the UK after being educated there. The Guardian UK added that, from next year, all international graduates could qualify for a two-year period to work in the UK, increasing their chances of finding long-term employment after studying. http://tellmystory.com.ng/story/foreign-students-can-now-work-in-uk-after-graduation---prime-minister-boris-johnson |
Philippine authorities have charged an American woman with trying to smuggle a six-day-old infant out of the country in a bag she wore around her waist as she tried to board a flight out of the country. The woman, 42-year-old Jennifer Talbot, had no valid custody documents for the child but managed to make it through security and immigration before personnel at the departure gate confronted her at Manila’s international airport on Wednesday. The tycoon said he is an ardent Christian and prides himself in giving his life to Jesus Christ. During an interview with Belivers Portal, Philip also said all humans are broken and the piece that makes them whole is none other than Jesus. To him, everyone has a missing piece that once found, will make them whole. “I have discovered all of us are broken, we all have a missing piece. For me, I discovered the missing piece was God in Jesus Christ,” the tycoon said. To Philip, the only way to achieve happiness and live a fulfilling life is through recognising humans search for the wrong things. "A better life, a better purpose, better me and a better everything. I was looking at all the wrong things," he added. The wealthy developer said all his life, things did not make sense but his life took a turn when he discovered the love of God. “It sure beats a lot of money and material things that you may have. It starts with accepting you are broken and there is a missing piece. For me, personally, that missing piece is our Lord Jesus Christ,” he remarked. That the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde hit the ground running in Oyo state following his swearing-in on May 29, 2019 is no longer news. It has indeed become a global knowledge that the GSM as he is fondly called has become a reference point for good governance not just in the South West but across Nigeria. What does he attribute his phenomenal rise in political pedigree to just a few months after getting the mantle of leadership? That is the question that has kept agitating the minds of millions of Nigerians who have been watching the new kid on the bloc with keen interests, some with admiration and some with envy. To Governor Seyi Makinde, the answer is not far-fetched. He bares it all in his upcoming autobiography, which comes with the title: “Seyi Makinde: Thinking it out.” According to Engineer Makinde, a key aspect of his success is his adventurous life, which he says is weaved around a cause. He tells it thus in the book: “My life is an adventure, and I continuously look forward to the next phase. “My life is a long-distance race. I run, mostly not for fame or fortune but for a cause. I know this concept might be alien to a lot of people. In my over five decades on earth, I have met many people whose only goal in life is to become wealthy and famous. I have also seen how unhappy some of them have turned out to be. “I am a marathoner, physically and metaphorically. With every sense of modesty, I admit that many consider me a traiIbIazer who is inspiring a new generation of Oyo people to aspire to a life beyond their present realities. http://tellmystory.com.ng/story/the-secrets-of-my-success--seyi-makinde

GIFs have become an emotional currency on the web, allowing people to react in ways words just don’t allow. But if you can’t find the perfect GIF for your current feeling, why not create one yourself? Here are the best apps and websites for making GIF: 1. GIFS.com To get started, let’s look at the extremely clean and useful GIFs.com, a site that makes creating GIFs incredibly easy. To get started, paste the URL for the video you’d like to use as the basis for your GIF. The site currently supports YouTube, Instagram, and Vine — or rather, Vine archive (R.I.P.) — and users can also upload their own video files. Once you’ve picked out your source material, you’ll come to a simple editor. Select the frames you’d like to convert into a GIF using the timeline located below the video. Then, add a caption, stickers, and a few effects, if desired. There’s even a one-clip “thug life” option, if you want to meme like it’s 2009. Once you’re done tweaking things, you’re ready to share your GIF with the world. You can use the provided URL, or download the GIF for re-uploading to another site. 2. GIF Maker by Giphy Giphy has long been the default search engine for GIFs, since its library is endless. Giphy’s own GIF Maker lets you simultaneously create and share your creations, and it’s really easy to use. Just pick your source material from YouTube, Vimeo, or Giphy Links, and you can select any portion of the video to turn into a GIF. You can also add captions, if you want. The process doesn’t take long, and the resulting GIFs are instantly uploaded to Giphy. From there, you can share them, download them directly, or tweak them using a variety of tools. You can turn a collection of still images into a GIF, for instance, or edit any of the existing GIFs on the website. In all, this is a powerful tool for any GIF fan, and one worth checking out. 3. Screen To GIF With Screen to GIF, you can select a portion of your screen and record anything that happens in that specific area — or at least that’s the idea. The software functions as a simple Windows application, one that makes GIF creation simple. Start the program and you’ll have a few options. The first option, Recorder, lets us pick a region of the screen to record. The second, Webcam, lets you record GIFs using your computer’s camera. Boardlets you record yourself drawing, and Editor lets you edit existing GIFs. To get started, click Recorder. You’ll see a frame window, which you can resize to select your desired portion of the screen. Fit this over a video you’d like to turn into a GIF, or into a region of the screen you’d like to record. Then, when you’re ready, hit the Record button. Hit stop when you’ve got what you want, and you’ll be taken to the editing screen. From here, you can delete sections of your recording, and do things like add captions. A ribbon-based interface means fans of Microsoft Office will feel right at home. http://tellmystory.com.ng/story/5-best-gif-maker-apps-and-websites-you-should-try

A member of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, who claimed to be Sister Fanny said she died after being sick for sometimes, went to hell and that God brought her back to life with a warning message for the Christians. The story was posted in a Facebook group, “Deeper Christian Life Ministry members” by one Nathaniel T Nain Jr. Fanny is a Deeper Life chorister in Ghana and she is a lead soloist during church programmes and her song is on YouTube, Read her story below: I WAS SENT BACK TO EARTH WITH A WARNING MESSAGE TO THE CHURCH: My name is Sister Fanny, a member of Deeper Life Bible Church. I became sick — At a time, my condition became worse. As a result of shortage of blood, the colour of my blood changed. I stopped breathing, which means I died — At that moment I began the journey to eternity. Suddenly, I found myself standing between a broad and narrow way — At that place, I saw many people rushing through the broad way, while only three people passed through the narrow way. In the next stage, I found myself standing before the Judgement seat of God. I saw a crowd of angels worshipping God, they were saying…. “You are Worthy, You are Worthy, You are Worthy.” Two angels from the crowd of angels confronted me with two books in their hands — One of the angels opened the book with the inscription “The Book of Life” — With speed he turned the pages of the book to the end but my name was not found in “The Book of Life.” He opened the second book with the inscription “The Book of Death.” He also turned the pages very fast: he paused almost at the end of the book and looked at me and called me by my name “Fanny” — you were given 3 gifts: 1. Evangelism. 2. Singing and 3. Teaching. …but you did not do well with these gifts — Instead you devoted yourself to secular teaching because of material things. The Value God Places on Sunday Service — Weekly Activities — Evangelism — Follow-Up and Visitation. The angel asked me , did you attend Church service last Sunday before you became sick? I answered “Yes.” He said, you were recorded absent; the angels that takes record of attendance took record by 8.00am when service commences — while you came 3 minutes after 8. So you were late — Lateness is equivalent to absence. Then he asked me, did you attend bible study the last Monday before you became sick? http://tellmystory.com.ng/story/a-must-read-i-died-came-back-to-life-with-message-from-god--deeper-life-woman

The Awujale and Paramount ruler of Ijebuland Ogun State on Tuesday told his subjects to “go for a capable successor” whenever he joins his ancestors. He spoke when he received thousands of sons and daughters of Ijebu extraction in Ijebu – Ode at the 2019 Ojude Oba cultural festival/carnival. The Octogenarian ascended the throne in 1960 at the age of 25, and hailed from the Anikinaiya Ruling family. There are indications that the ruling House to produce the next Awujale when the stool becomes vacant is the Fusengbuwa Ruling House where the founder of the First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Otunba Subomi Balogun, is the Olori Ebi (Head). Oba Adetona, the Ogbagba 11 and who is often referred to as Orisa Ijebu(god of Ijebu), urged his people to sustain the tempo by ensuring that the stool does not go to moneybags. Choosing or changing schools is a big decision. Which one will be the best fit for your child? Here are five pitfalls to avoid as you consider your options and plan your school visits. Mistake #1: Visiting Only Once First impressions are important. But if you only visit a school one time, you run the risk of basing your decision on too little information. For example, if a teacher seemed unenthusiastic, it will be hard for you to tell whether she was just having an off day or if her attitude is a sign of bigger problems at the school. Visit more than once. Ask to spend time in a classroom so you can observe the teacher interacting with students. Ask several parents whose kids attend the school what they think of it. Mistake #2: Judging by Appearances Sure, you want to pick a school that is clean and attractive, with all the newest technology. But remember that looks aren’t everything. Some schools might not have the latest and greatest equipment. But they have engaged and well-trained teachers who can bring out the best in their students—including those with learning and attention issues. The teachers are the most important element. Watch them interact with kids, and ask parents of current students for more insights. Mistake #3: Not Asking Enough Questions It’s helpful to know if a school has a good reputation or gets high marks from other parents. But their children may have different needs than yours does. Use school ratings tools, online communities and other means to try to find parents whose kids have similar issues. Take your child to visit the school and make sure it’s a welcoming place. A school’s culture can make a big difference in how accepted your child will feel. Ask the school lots of questions, including how it will support your child academically, emotionally and socially. Mistake #4: Forgetting to Factor In Location A great school is worth a long commute. But the same may not be true for a school that seems only slightly better than the one in your neighborhood. Lengthy rides to and from school might limit the amount of time your child has for homework, afterschool activities and sports. Living far from school can also make it more challenging to arrange playdates and other social events. That’s why it’s important to factor in time and distance when choosing a school. Mistake #5: Focusing Too Much on Academics Yes, academics are very important. But your child’s social and emotional development is very important too. A preschool that puts a lot of emphasis on reading skills may sound great. But make sure there’s a big focus on social skills as well. Likewise, high school is a time for identifying students’ strengths and passions—not just where they will go to college. Pick a school based on the richness of the experience it provides. http://tellmystory.com.ng/story/5-mistakes-parents-make-when-picking-a-school
