The list should include at least 95% of all politicians that have servedin govt since 1970. From presidents to ministers to governors to local govt chairmen to commisioners etc. |
The banks that laundered the money are also guilty of a crime. Indeed, all the money looted from Africa has ended up in western financial institutions. If the banks were not so willing to accept these looted funds, Africa wouldn't be in the mess it is in today. In British law, the handler of stolen goods is more guilty than the thief. |
This is a must view for anybody interested in Africa. |

Hope Madam didn't open her mouth there - she would be arrested for abuse (of the English language) Getting tired of GEJ's 'attire' - he needs a makeover and a tailor. |
Let him just hand over Nigeria to the World Bank/IMF . . . . . . . . Nigerians - get used to your enslavement. |
How much do you think we would be buying water ? At least N97 Per litre (After subsidies) Would we have scarcity of water at anytime ? All the time - to inflate prices sellers would hoard when profitable. How often would they increase the price of a sachet of Pure Water ? During festivals, holidays, or other times of increased consumption Fellas what do think ? What about 'chicks' opinions? |
Correction: Corrupt incompetent politicians fuel poverty - not oil |
How does a compulsory course in entrepreneurship help anything? Nigerians are already business minded. Another thing is that education is not the problem, the problem is the lack of jobs. After the education, then what's next? That is the problem.
The quality of education in Nigeria is below par. Students leave universities without the ability to think. Quality of education needs to be tackled. |
Your bleeping joking . . . . The West through their puppets (including GEJ) have complete control of Africa. |

This is welcoming - its a good start. Every policeman and woman in the country needs to be retrained. Many need to be arrested and thrown in jail. |
Nigeria’s corrupt police force acts on the whims of the highest bidder and officers carry out extra-judicial killings and torture, the acting inspector general of police said. President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered a complete overhaul of the police and sacked the former inspector general and his six deputies last month after a key suspect in a Christmas Day bomb attack escaped. “The Nigeria police force has fallen to its lowest level … police duties have become commercialised and provided at the whims and caprices of the highest bidder,” Mohammed Abubakar, who became acting police chief last month, said in a speech to senior officers on Monday. “Justice has been perverted, people’s rights denied, innocent souls committed to prison, torture and extra-judicial killings perpetrated,” Abubakar added. The address was distributed to reporters on Tuesday. Police corruption has long been visible on Nigerian streets, where officers set up checkpoints used to extort small bribes from drivers. Police are available to hire and guard the property of rich businessmen, diplomats and politicians. Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have said the Nigerian police exploit their position to carry out robberies, unlawful killings and destruction of property but it is unusual to hear such admissions from within the security forces. Many residents in northeastern Nigeria, homeland of Boko Haram, also say the police are doing more harm than good – encouraging support for the radical Islamist sect by robbing the homes of suspects, Desecrating women and carrying out killings. Boko Haram, which has killed hundreds this year, has been waging an insurgency against the police and other authority figures since 2009. Its attacks have grown more deadly and sophisticated in the past six months. The sect’s former leader Mohammed Yusuf was killed in police custody that year and its members state the extra-judicial killing as one of the key factors driving their attacks. A policeman was killed on Tuesday by an improvised bomb near a military checkpoint in the northern city of Kaduna, local police spokesman Aminu Lawal said. On Monday, security forces shot a director within the Kaduna ministry of information, who they said attempted to force his car into the state government house. Boko Haram have carried out several suicide car bomb attacks. Jonathan, a southern Christian, has been criticised for not controlling the surge in violence by Boko Haram, a group which wants Islamic law more widely applied across Africa’s most populous nation. But Abubakar’s unusually strident comments are likely to lend support to Jonathan’s pledge to reform the police. Abubakar ordered senior police officers to release anyone held unlawfully, dismantle the highway road blocks used for bribery and to disband special squads and teams so investigation outfits can be brought within the original police structures. “Our Special Anti-Robbery Squads have become killer teams engaging in deals for land speculators and debt collection. Toll stations in the name of check-points adorn our highways with policemen shamefully collecting money from motorists in full glare of the public,” Abubakar said. “Illegalities thrive under your watchful eyes because you have compromised the very soul of our profession. Our respect is gone and the Nigerian public has lost even the slightest confidence in the ability of the police to do any good thing.” http://www.osundefender.org/?p=26989 |
Sanusi - You are part of the problem and one of those who's policies are helping to impoverish Nigerians. Dont expect a round of applause from anybody. |
LAGOS — The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Mallam Lamido Sanusi, yesterday, said the level of poverty in Nigeria will continue to rise unless there is a deliberate effort to create other sources of revenue. Speaking at the Murtala Mohammed annual memorial lecture in Lagos, in a paper entitled: “Banking Sector, Financial Reforms, Impact on the Nigerian Economy and Economic Development,” Sanusi cautioned against excessive borrowing from developed countries by Nigeria and its counterparts in the African continent. He said African countries should be able to put in place measures to develop their resources to be able to compete favourably in the international arena. Sanusi said the country, presently, has a dysfunctional economy, emphasizing that there is an urgent need for a clear understanding of economic direction and structural adjustment that would create other avenues for further revenue. According to him, it is an abnormal situation for the economy to grow without impact on the average Nigerian, especially when viewed in the light of the recent report of the Nigeria Bureau of Statistic, NBS, where over 100 million Nigerians are said to be living below poverty level. He stated that the current leadership of the CBN, as parts of its contribution to the development of the economy, was building a new financial system that would play a catalyst role in the productive sector of the economy apart from monetary policies. He said: “We are building a new banking model, the type that will contribute meaningfully to the economy, other than monetary policies.” He expressed optimism that the Nigerian capital market would recover fully in the next three years, noting that the current slow recovery has nothing to do with monetary policies of the apex bank. He regretted that the agriculture sector that contributes 42 per cent to the Gross Domestic, GDP, is being neglected, adding that the CBN and banks are doing all it takes to revive the sector. The CBN Governor further disclosed that the apex bank, in conjunction with the Bankers’ Committee, is working on women empowerment. He said: “Between 2012 and 2014, 40 per cent top management positions in banks are to be held by women. By December 2014, 30 per cent board seats in banks will be held by women. Also, we decided that women-owned businesses are to be supported by credit facilities at a single digit interest.” The banking watchdog boss affirmed that Nigeria was a poor oil producing country, stating that statistics have shown that in Nigeria, it is one barrel of oil to 80 Nigerians, whereas in Saudi Arabia it is one barrel to three persons. On cashless Lagos, he said it was on course, noting that in the next three years, the policy would reduce banks’ operating costs by 30 per cent. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/02/sanusi-predicts-increase-in-nigerias-poverty-level/ |
Backward country, Instead of lie detector tests being used against politicians they are being used against those charged with investigating corrupt politicians. How about they strap GEJ to it and ask him some questions regardin the 13 million dollars the wife embezzled - somehow i dont think she's clever enough to have pulled of something like that without input from GEJ himself. Or they could strap Okonjo-Iweal to it and ask her one simple question - are you an agent of the world bank/IMF? Is there an institution in Nigeria tht is not corrupt? SMH |

The Kaduna State government has been clarifying an earlier report on the violence at the Government House today. A statement issued by the state commissioner of police, Mr. Ballah Nasarawa today says that a combined team of security personnel attached to Government House main gate, Kaduna, intercepted a ToyotaCorrola Saloon car with Kaduna state official Reg. No. Kaduna KD-06-A 04. Officials claim the "driver drove dangerously in a suspicious manner towards the Government House gate," adding that he refused to stop and had "forced his way through the exit gate". The statement claimed that security agents had no option but to open fire and "shot the suspect on the leg and the lower abdominal part of his body". "The suspect was later identified as Pastor Isuwa Kiforo of no. 7, Abba Rimi road, Narayi, Kaduna, who is the Director, Finance and Administration, Ministry of Information, Kaduna state'' Pastor Kiforor rushed to 44 Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna, for treatment, after he was given first aid by a team of medical personnel attached to the Government House. The statement adds that the vehicle was thoroughly searched by anti-bomb disposal experts and nothing incriminating was recovered. http://www.channelstv.com/global/news_details.php?nid=31428&cat=Local |
Former U.S. President Bill Clinton says poverty is fueling the religious violence tearing at Nigeria. In a speech Monday, Clinton acknowledged he was "really worried" about the security problems now plaguing the nation, which includes increasingly violent attacks by a radical Islamist sect known as Boko Haram. Boko Haram is based in and has launched attacks across the nation's impoverished Muslim north. Clinton noted that region remains one of the poorest of the whole country. Clinton suggested more direct investment and opportunities for those in the north, while still allowing for possible military action against the extremists. Clinton appeared Monday night in Lagos at the ThisDay Awards, an annual ceremony hosted by Nigerian newspaper magnate Nduka Obaigbena. http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/clinton-poverty-helping-fuel-violence-nigeria-15576609 |
Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) Enough said. . . . |
Soludo is a Professor Sanusi is an illiterate - with qualifications in religious studies. Of course the two of them cannot be compared. |
. , . wait for the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy to kick in. By the time GEJ leaves office (2015) at least 90% of Nigerians will be classed as poor, wretched and hungry. |
. .at that rate within 20years 99% of Nigerians will be living in poverty. Jobs are not being created at the same rate as population growth. So called GDP does't necessary equate to jobs - its related to oil sales/exports. |
