Education / Re: Top Ten Universities Chosen By Candidates During The 2023 UTME by sunsweet33: 11:40am On Apr 27
Fullfledged:
The major reason for this is proximity to where one is living. People usually choose schools close to where they are staying. I am not saying everyone but most people.
We all know a lot of people stay in Lagos because of their status over the years compared to other states so normally, the schools there or around it will get a lot of attention

Most people brought up in Lagos can’t cope outside of Lagos. They feel that the rest of the country is a different world…they would rather stay there All their lives and then japa, than spend time in another state.

Family / Re: Nigerian Who Relocated To UK In 2022 Beat Wife To Death With Skateboard by sunsweet33: 10:59pm On Apr 26
Mindlog:

I guess the man is in better place now in prison, the wife dead and buried by now, the 3 children shared to 3 different children residential homes in different parts of the UK till they clock 16 before being moved to semi-independent living.

It’s really extraordinary how much people are bending over backwards to justify somebody quite literally bludgeoning his wife to death.

He married her, men don’t just harm or hurt their other half no matter their temper. Why did didn’t he kill her in Nigeria if that was the case? In western world, your temper does not make you forget the strict law. He must have been pushed to the wall within just two years of going to Uk that he had to choose going to prison if it comes to worst.

Nothing like that…didn’t you see he couldn’t find work as an engineer and had to take a job in a store. The humiliation and frustration alone…

I blame lack of exposure..cos Nigeria is quite unique in terms of engineer engagement. many western countries engineering graduates struggle to find work and have to relocate to Dubai or somewhere. Talk less of an immigrant from an aspirational background.

Too much disappointment plus stress…mixed with jealousy cos those care workers can earn quite a lot… I wish he’d have prepared his mind for the kind of demeaning work he’d have to do over there instead of pouring his frustrations on the lady..

It's not eBay,rather corn flour mixed with other stuffs,my sister in law in Abuja helped me to source it,it's nice, but I ate the food with a friend

Ok, I was wondering about the colour. Is it healthier than eba? Northerners usually have healthy grains and swallows but due to lack of info, people don’t seem to use them.

Nigeria united!

Details missing, emotions heightened.

Demand explanations fest.

Where did this happen?
Who was the witness?
Where there other witnesses?

What was the circumstance of the labour?
What was the cause of death?

Noooo! We just say it was god and it was sad, and we move on.

Until proven otherwise, someone made a mistake in the care of this patient. Either the woman and her husband or the doctors and the hospital.

That’s how one of my cousins just died over nothing. Heavily pregnant with sickle
Cell…one minute she was here, the next she was gone…until today nobody knows what the hell happened.

Somebody who was supposed to be seriously monitored and possibly induced,,,so many uncles, aunties and quacks got involved but today she and the baby are no more.

1. It does not matter whether they believe in secretly believe in curses or not, what matters is that science almost always comes to the rescue at the end of the day. So a good healthcare system is powerful enough to handle most of those nonsensical ideas you carry there too. undecided

2. Arggh! You forgot that I mentioned the deplorable healthcare system in Nigeria first. The fact that the majority of religious folks do avoid CS is not to be downplayed at all, even though it was not my intention to present it as the definite reason for the death in this case. undecided

Hahaha 🤣 You said you brought up Nigeria vs other countries because I mentioned evil and curses. And now that evil And curses in the context of foreigners is mentioned, you say it doesn’t matter 😆 Good night o

Kobojunkie:
It is exactly this evil lurking everywhere mentality that led me to remind you that the problem of barrenness is not experienced only by Nigerians. It has been mostly tackled mostly everywhere in the developed world. However, when it comes to Nigeria where the problems go pretty much untouched, you lot are quick to remember evil and curses but never the fact that you have done almost nothing to solve the problem itself. undecided

2. The only evil lurking everywhere is that caused by human beings. In this case, the deplorable healthcare system in Nigeria to date, the choice made against CS which could have at least saved the baby's life, and you folks thinking it is OK to invoke juju and your gods in this when this issue has or mentions absolutely none of that. undecided

You are just going around in circles…unless you can prove that people in other countries don’t believe in curses (they do) then your argument is meaningless.

There’s no info stating that the couple refused CS but you mention it as if it’s fact, yet still you want to dictate to other people what and what they should mention…abeg shift
Family / Re: After 14 Years Of Infertility, Man Loses His Wife And Child During Delivery by sunsweet33: 9:15pm On Apr 24
Kobojunkie:
There is no such thing as unseen evil lurking somewhere looking to kill her. Barrenness is not unique to Nigeria or Nigerians. It happens to women everywhere, and in many developed countries where the healthcare systems are developed, there are many solutions already available to counter the problem. undecided

Why don't you one day sit calmly down and reason why none of these ideas you people in these dark places cling to can be observed in the civilized world outside of your mental and your mind? There is a reason why and the minute you hit it, you will be all too wiling to set yourselves free of these mental shackles abeg! undecided

Your submission is mainly superfluous since I never said that fertility issues were peculiar to Nigeria or that Nigeria doesn’t need better healthcare.

Yes! There is evil lurking in many places, I’m sorry to have to inform you. If you like, ignore it in the name of being more “enlightened” or whatever, na you sabi.

It’s more a sign of “mental shackles” to ignore these things than to acknowledge them.

I don’t know what she did or didn’t do oo, I only agreed with that guy that there are often some unseen evils to be overcome in situations like this.

14 years of barrenness…ha! Absolutely NO curse too big for people to render on the person. The original infertility may even give way to another intractable one, due to evil utterances.

It's like there was a curse for she not to have children.
That when it seemed the curse was about to be broken, her life was taken.
People, life is more spiritual than physical.
It is reasons like this people go to spiritually-minded churches like MFM, CAC, Zion ministries, etc.
Please if you are reading this, take your spirituality more seriously.
I am not saying you come to church. Even if you have to go to Babalawo or native doctor, just be spiritually minded.

I think I agree with you. Who knows the kind of evil comment both families may have been passing, hmm. In that kind of situation the woman should just hide herself somewhere until the baby is like 3 months.

This is ridiculous…why are they interviewing a minor on national news about being physically assaulted??

They can’t blur her face, they can’t give her a pseudonym, obscure her voice nothing?

Is it how she will enter university and later the workplace?! As the fragile soul who was once Bullied. Are those her parents standing behind her while she makes bullying history on national news?

We ought to remember that this is a child… now that she has been reprimanded she needs to be rehabilitated into Normal social behaviours.

Some children bully due to psychopathic tendencies but most are simply meting out what is being done to them at home.

By the way if you are in the habit of SLAPPING kids to pieces then you shouldn’t be commenting on the case! Such people are their kids first bullies in life.

. It is a disgrace to Nigeria that a Law graduate claimed she had B.SC in Law and we are celebrating it. I don't have any issue with the woman and her horrible English. My concern is the need for the NOUN management to ensure some overhaul of the system. In my opinion NOUN is just a an assembly of those who need degrees without any commitment as students.Garbage in garbage out. NOUN was established by OBJ to encourage those working to have university degrees. Regrettably academic mediocres are the products of the school.Do they sort themselves out to bag their degrees? Your guess is as good as mine .
Finally there is nothing to celebrate in the B SC Law drama.

Well, being mediocre is never a crime, however they have set a Low benchmark for attainment…can anybody tell Aunty she no go school..no they can’t 🤷🏾‍♀️ there are plenty more where she came from…

People lambasting the 42 million naira primary school don’t know what calamities some parents are trying to avoid..hmm..
