I get annoyed sometimes too but I take it in stride, I am quite tall 1.8m and very very dark but I happen to have a pointed nose(its God that put it there not my doing) so my face is soft and easy on the eyes next thing I hear is you must be from delta or ibo or calabar you can't be yoruba. I am pure ijebu ooo, I laugh over it sometimes too.
sade1994:

As in Eh very annoying. ..
Some even go as far as telling me.. ..one of my parents must have igbo blood.

Yoruba girls are the most beautiful that I have come across. I wonder why of the 200+ tribes in Nigeria there is only one tribe here trying to force their opinion down people's throat. #complex issues##everyone must agree with me mentality#

Oh really! What planet are you in? As an events planner I see it happen all the time;it's not new-i myself is married to a Lagos native.
if someone is born, bred and brought up in ibadan, osogbo, ogbomosho, illorin, imeko afon, ikere ekiti, ijebu ilishan and the thousands of cities and villages in the hinterland, the person might not see an intertribal marriage all their lives sef but if its lagos you'll see some not even more than intra yoruba sef. People are still clannish in Nigeria don't be deceived

Falilat ogunkoya attended Methodist girls high school Yaba some twenty years before I even got there and we never stopped hearing about her every wednesday(sportsday) and insterhouse sports day(this was a big deal then) and how you can do well in sports every single time. She was the poster girl for sports at MGHS. I think she was also discovered during a sportsday. it was also responsible for the love I developed for sports afterwards. I really wish we can go back to the secondary school system of scouting talents. Very nice nostalgic thread Naptu. But mehn! Atlanta 96 was the year to be a nigerian athletics lover. I Miss the golden era.

I feel for Blessing Okagbare...she has now medal-less in 2 straight Olympics. embarassed
its not just the winlessness but the manner in which the winlessness has occured. The lady that handed over to her in the relay was 2nd by the time okagbare was handing over she was fifth, I was like whaaaaaaat!! I think she's pregnant though cause she looks more rounder and fatter, I might be wrong tho

Likewise.
Fixtures were basd on seeding (best seeds face lowest seed etc) rather than random fixtures. This being the case our participants were always going to get more difficult matches.Aruna is ranked 40 and Toriola is ranked 120.
Until they improve their rankings /seeding,they'll always get difficult matches.

yeah you are right but it means the Table tennis people don't want to give underdogs a chance at glory. They can simply go the route of the euro's let the big boys knock themselves out and let the lesser seeds knock themselves out too. Then set up a battle of the two groups it adds spice to the game. Its somehow starting to have this monotonous feel. Its seems no one can challenge for top honours.

I am telling you, its becoming soo obvious, they can't hide their jealousy anymore. So african countries shouldn't win anything only them should win jealous human beings like this.
CFCman:

Wow.
It smacks if jealousy to me

Yesterday or so some doping allegations came up and its alledged that undercover journalists claim that a kenyan coach was willing to tell of how kenyans cheat. I belive its a lie. Just google kenya at the olympics and see what pops up.
CFCman:

What happened to Kenya?

can i talk about kenya here?? and how i feel about what is going on and how unfair it is for white people to come up with different stupid tactics when black people win, trying to tarnish their image and all. its wickedness. or am i just being a conspiracy theorist? cry
Sports / Re: 2016 Olympics Thread: Funke Oshonaike Is Team Nigeria's Flagbearer by superduperjay: 1:05pm On Aug 09, 2016
Yeah
btoks:

That's true to an extent, however, environmental conditioning, training infrastructure, financial support etc helps nuture or erode talent.
Unfortunately, the Nigerian factor tends to erode talent.Says why we've only had 3 gold medals in 54 years of participating in the Olympics and a total of 23 medals or so. This can be changed though.
Sports / Re: 2016 Olympics Thread: Funke Oshonaike Is Team Nigeria's Flagbearer by superduperjay: 11:46am On Aug 09, 2016
Haba!! Talent is talent na doesn't matter if you are born anywhere, talent always shines through

Lol. I think if Phelps was Nigerian, he wouldn't have won all those gold medals!

Sports / Re: Which City In Africa You Think Can Host The Olimpics? by superduperjay: 8:22pm On Aug 07, 2016
If we really want to host we'd have to borrow and it'll still strain our purse.
jstbeinhonest:
In reality, None for now.
But in ideal terms The big cities in SA. and maybe,-though I think it would be stupid-, the big cities in Nigeria(Lag and maybe Abj) can host the Olympics. These two countries have the largest economies in Africa. The Olympics is the largest sporting event in the world, it would cost tens of billions of dollars, the largest Nigerian Budget ever is $30 billion. Assuming we get 7 years to prepare, do you think that the FG would be willing to spend more than 5% of its budget every year on a sporting event?
Sports / Re: Which City In Africa You Think Can Host The Olimpics? by superduperjay: 7:54pm On Aug 07, 2016
Lagos is probably the only city world bank or whomever can loan the amount of money required to host an olympics. Lagos is a bankable city and prominent one in AFRiCA. Monetary lagos is kinda RIPE smiley

I also watched the cherika lady yesterday and she's actually good but I can't reaLly tell if she was tired at the end or she wanted to rest for quarterfinals, I am also working on some permutations and calculations on her chances grin

olapluto:

Odunayo is a very fine wrestler, one of the best in the world. She sure is one of our best medal prospects. Okagbare is doubtful. She can sure make the final, but her best chance was the last olympics. She cannot do the long jump and 200m because of clash in schedule. I will say she should do the 100m and long jump.
Footballers...sigh! When they get to semi final, I can call them favourite. Until then, they are just OK.
spot on!! You know what's up I told my people odunayo is the only medal hope we have and if olympic spirit enters her she can get a silver. I also studied the 4by400 girls they were very above average too and had better chance to pull off something spectacular too bad they were DQ'ed, the rest ehn lipsrsealed let me not say anything as anything is actually possible. And the football boys might be lucky sha
