Christianity EtcRe: Think before you contribute to the 3-km Long Church Auditorium for Rccg by superior1:
frosbel: Can Adeboye ensure that there is not ONE needy person among his church members before he embarks on this multi-billion naira project to build a 3-km Long Church Auditorium.

This is madness, building more and more edifices while our people are almost dying of hunger, a classical case of taking money from the needy and using it to build babels to the glory of MAN. Reminds me of India who are investing in more weapons of mass destruction when 60% of their people starve, talk of misplaced priorities.

Do not give a penny to this project , pay your rent, bills , feed your children and then give to the poor and needy around you. Go to the Lord in prayer before you donate a penny, I am sure there are worthier causes all around us.

People, it is time you follow JESUS and stop enriching MEN and their dreams. You do not need to go to a specific place to find Jesus, if we have the Spirit , he is always present for he has said " I will never leave you or forsake you ".

Free yourselves from MEN, follow JESUS, on judgement day Adeboye will not save you or stand in for you, on judgement day RCCG will not save you, now is the time to do the right thing and go back to new testament Christianity.

Thanks.
Those are your opinions and you are entitled to it. The project is wrong because there are many hungry people in the land?. There will always be the poor in the land and while i support churches in sharing their burden, i don't see it as a reason for not contributing to church projects and expansion.

FrostyZonn: Appointing a Muslim mod, and an intolerant one at that, in this section that is meant for the Christians and other denominations or lack of thereof, is a very bad move from the Admin, and one that might end up biting him in the àrse.

As a Christian I find it very offensive to my religion that a Muslim mod very well known and disliked by practically all non-Muslim Nairalanders because of his notorious intolerance, should be given the right to lord over everyone and continue his tyranny.

It's like this guy has the Admin in his pocket. I could be wrong though.
Naa, you aren't. It is called FEAR. If a Christian is threaten, he probably start a prayer and fasting sessions but what will an atheist do when he knows his life is in danger?, he will simply apply his human wisdom to reduce or eliminate the threat.
Christianity EtcRe: Seun Caves In Again To Terrorists by superior1: 7:42pm On Aug 10, 2013
Why blame the guyhuh, he is only afraid for his life. He knows he can actually be killed like they threaten and that Christians wont go that far even if they use the most despicable name on Jesus. It is common sense now grin grin grin

Didn't somebody got sacked for opposing Tunji or something of that nature? Tunji is the emir of NL, he has got no equal here

Why can't we instead ask for a different section for Christians like the muslim got or do Christians and atheists have a common origin?

damerry: final word for superior1.. show me a catholic who worships those incorruptible bodies and i will show you an idol worshiper. The crawlings and other gestures in the above images are in line with tradition which was either used to HONOUR or CANONIZE. thats --NOT WORSHIP--. Please learn to accept defeat and stop providing alibis wink
Crawling is part of honour but not worship, right?

That tongue (if really it is ) looks incorruptible, right?

Christianity EtcRe: Catholism- Focus On Relics by superior1(op): 9:27pm On Aug 09, 2013
In Roman Catholicism, some relics are considered incorruptible if after death a body is seen to be physically intact, generally seen as a sign that the individual is a saint.

One of such relic is the tongue of Anthony of Lisbon

Christianity EtcRe: Catholism- Focus On Relics by superior1(op): 8:44pm On Aug 09, 2013
damerry: That's my post, there's Nothing to thank you for. Exposing catholic traditions is not anti-catholic, but criticizing our traditions calling it paganism, ( your post up there attest to this, if you like, modify it) demonic and not feeding readers of this topic with EVERY BIT OF INFORMATION about what veneration of relics entails makes you anti-catholic, what you obviously did here was to post images that could scare people off their faith, you said our veneration of relics is pagansim and since EVERY CATHOLIC ALTAR HAS A RELIC WHICH ATTEST TO PAGANISM (as you claimed) what becomes of our holy mass? you supported this with citations from the bible that condemn idolatry and paganism, dude always remember this THE GATES OF HELL SHALL NOT PREVAIL AGAINST THE CHURCH OF GOD.
But you didn't know every altar in catholic chapel has a relic until you came across this thread, ok, if you don't want to thank me, ba wahala

damerry: for me, it's Not a big deal. My top priority is to make Heaven, what happens to the Body after death is Meant to be, there is nothing you can do about it. besides, have instincts never taught you dat there are questions you don't just ask? *Leaves thread*
.

sorry if that offends you, just wanted to know your view.

So tell me if you have some relics at home, which of the saints they belong to and what have been your experience using them in your prayers?

When next you are in church, ask the priest to show you the church's relic at the altar
Christianity EtcRe: Catholism- Focus On Relics by superior1(op): 8:05pm On Aug 09, 2013
damerry: The following statements summarizes the
more detailed treatment found in other
documents such as the Roman Pontifical,
Dedication of a Church and an Altar, and in
the Ceremonial of Bishops. No. 866 of this
latter book indicates the basic norms for
relics. The tradition in the Roman liturgy of
placing relics of martyrs or other saints
beneath the altar should be preserved,
if
possible. But the following should be noted:
a. such relics should be of a size sufficient
for them to be recognized as parts of
human bodies; hence excessively small relics
of one or more saints must not be placed
beneath the altar;
b. the greatest care must be taken to
determine whether the relics in question are
authentic; it is better for an altar to be
dedicated without relics than to have relics
of doubtful authenticity placed beneath it;
c. a reliquary must not be placed upon the
altar or set into the table of the altar; it must
be placed beneath the table of the altar, as
the design of the altar permits.”
considering the (b) part of the above statement, an Alter can be dedicated without a Relic, besides most out-stationed catholic church don't have relics on thier altars, i believe i've made crystal clear from my previous posts why we venerate Relics. Peace
*Leaves Thread and Looks forward to superior1 next anti catholic topics*
Now you see?, you should thank me for that free info.
what is anti-catholic in exposing catholic traditions?

Syncan: "Just as Eve, wife of Adam, yet still a virgin, became by her disobedience the cause of death for herself and the whole human race, so Mary, too, espoused yet a Virgin, became by her obedience the cause of salvation for herself and the whole human race.... And so it was that the knot of Eve's disobedience was loosed by Mary's obedience. For what the virgin Eve bound fast by her refusal to believe, this the Virgin Mary unbound by her belief".

St. Irenaeus of Lyon (died.202AD), great defender of Christian orthodoxy.(learnt under Polycarp, who in turn learnt under St. John the beloved apostle)

@damerry, what do you say about having your remains hanged outside a chapel like you have in the chapel of bones?

Have you a relic, of which saint and what are your experiences with it?
Christianity EtcRe: Catholism- Focus On Relics by superior1(op): 9:33am On Aug 09, 2013
damerry: please don't post your personal opinions on matters like this, How many catholic chapel have you been to? And how many catholic chapel here in Nigeria did you find a relic? Why did you say EVERY CATHOLIC ALTAR HAS A RELIC? * just remembered what my fellow bretherns said about you wink*. Bro, increase your own Faith and count your own flaws, dats a sure path to become a Saint.
That isn't my personal opinion but what is obtainable from authoritative catholic sources. It seems you have very little knowledge of the doctrine of your church.

EVERY CATHOLIC ALTAR HAS A RELIC, THAT IS A FACT.

Becoming a Saint is through the finished work of Jesus, it isn't through the Catholic process. I AM A SAINT already.

Your so called brethren have got freedom of expression, so whatever they have to say aren't my headache.
Christianity EtcRe: Catholism- Focus On Relics by superior1(op): 6:18am On Aug 09, 2013
according to the "Pontificale Romanum" (De Eccles. Consecratione) the relics of two canonized martyrs although the Cong. Sac. Rit. (16 February, 1906) decided that if the relic of only one martyr is placed in it the consecration is valid, to these may be properly added the relics of other saints, especially of those in whose honour the church of the altar is consecrated. These relics must be actual portions of the saints' bodies, not simply of their garments or of other objects which they may have used or touched; the relics must, moreover be authenticated.

Every Catholic Altar has a relic. Meaning there is no Catholic Chapel which do not have tissues from a dead saint in her altar.
