Bros me u go skul sef? A man who lived for 65 years performed a 100 years old penence? Na waa for uoo.

"By a fantastic arithmetic, a year of penance was taxed at three thousand lashes; and such was the skill and patience of a famous hermit, Saint Dominic of the iron Cuirass, that in six days he could discharge an entire century, by a whipping of three hundred thousand stripes. His example was followed by many penitents of both sexes; and, as a vicarious sacrifice was accepted, a sturdy disciplinarian might expiate on his own back the sins of his benefactors."
Dominic is said to have performed these lashes while reciting the psalms, with 100 lashes for each psalm. 30 psalms (3000 strokes) made penance for one year of sin; the entire psalter redeemed 5 years, while 20 psalters (300,000 strokes) redeemed one hundred years - hence the 'One Hundred Years Penance' St. Dominic is said to have performed in six days, over Lent.
In calculating these lashes one is left with these numbers: 50,000 lashes per day. Assuming Dominic was awake for 20 hours a day, that gives 2,500 lashes per hour, which would result in 41 lashes per minute.
I hope you understand nowhuh, take time to study more of your church doctrines perhaps you will see the heresies we have been telling you guys about.

By the way, how many whipping have you given yourself?

Defending him with my life kwa?. I gave my opinion and support for the church expansion prjoect

chukwudi44: BTW what is it about this protestant churches that makes their members ashamed to be identified with them.
protestant is quite old-fashion now (not that i mind though). I am not ashamed to be a member of Christ body, you folks needs to understand what makes one a Christian isnt the denomination he worships but his being a member of the body of Christ.

1 Corinthians 12:27
Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

Ephesians 1:22
And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church

Jesus is the Head of the Church!!

Recent theology affirms the practice of mortification. The catechism of the Catholic Church states: “The way of perfection passes by way of the Cross. There is no holiness without renunciation and spiritual battle. Spiritual progress entails the ascesis and mortification that gradually lead to living in the peace and joy The Beatitudes” (n. 2015).

The Roman Catholic Church has often held mortification of the flesh (literally, "putting the flesh to death" ), as a worthy spiritual discipline.

St. Dominic Loricatus (995–1060) is said to have performed 'One Hundred Years Penance' by chanting 20 psalters accompanied by 300,000 lashes over six days.

Saint Francis of Assisi is said to have practice self-afflicted penances including vigils, fasts, frequent flagellations and the use of a hairshirt.

In the Litany prayers to Saint Ignatius of Loyola is praised as being “constant in the practice of corporal penance.” He wore a hair shirt and heavy iron chain, and was in the habit of wearing a cord tied below the knee

St. Teresa of Ávila, a Doctor of the Church, undertook severe mortification once it was suggested by friends that her supernatural ecstasies were of diabolical origin. She believed she was goaded by angels and had a passion to conform her life to the sufferings of Jesus, with a motto associated with her: "Lord, either let me suffer or let me die." (wikipedia)

Holy Queen We Bend Before Thee

Holy Queen we bend before thee,
Queen of purity divine,

Make us love thee , we implore thee
Make us truly to be thine.

Chorus:

Teach O teach us, Holy Mother,
How to conquer every sin,

How to love and help each other
How the prize of life to win.

Thou to whom a child was given,
Greater than the sons of men
Coming down from highest heaven
To create the world again.

Chorus

O by that Almighty Maker
Whom thyself, a virgin bore
O by the Supreme Creator
Linked with thee for ever more.

Chorus

Oh the hope thy name inspires,
By our doom, reversed thru, thee
Help us Queen of Angel Choirs
To a blest eternity.
Chorus

Just mere honours. I refuse to be deceived

naijadeyhia: The true body of Christ are those who are sold out to Christ in all things and they are not contained in one church. Rather they are scattered worldwide. A member of His body can be a begger on the streets of india who has embraced christ or a worker in ukraine or a teenager in denmark and so on. But they must have one thing in common, they must have been sealed by the Holy spirit as marked for Christ as they must walk with His Holy spirit in obedience in all things for this is the seal.

You do beyond honouring mary. You say you honour her in words but your actions and other prayers said to her speak otherwise. You use words for her that only God deserves and yet you say you only honour her? The bible said all nations would call her blessed this means all nations on this earth. Heavens standards are far higher than ours. We bless God for using her and thats just it... she was used... she was an instrument... a tool and it ends there.
camelus: O COME TO THE THRONE OF GRACE

O come to the throne of grace,
O come to the heart most pure.
To Mary our hope of Life,
In whom Salvation is sure.

Chorus;
O Lady of Nigeria,Hail
Immaculate Mother of grace
O pray for us,help us today
Thou hope of the human race
Immaculate Heart we kneel
The bold also shows they merely honour Mary

Syncan: 1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

In the quote above, St.Paul made it clear that the saints in heaven will be illuminated by God to know so much. Indeed for him, he will know even as he is known. Imagine how much Paul is known, it is all God's work, do not doubt. However it is still clear that no one forces devotion to mary on you, it is you who go into any thread written "Mary" to air your opinion. You have decided not to think deeply into why you believe what you believe, so it is better for you to continue with the prayer I had earlier taught you " Lord teach me to keep my mouth shut until I know what I am talking about ". Amen.
What is the relevance of all this to my post?

superior1: Thought provoking

Hebrews 4:15
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been
tempted as we are, yet without sin.

We do not need anyone in heaven to help us in begging Jesus to answer our prayers. He understands us because He was once like us. Catholics have the impression Jesus is one hard hearted spoilt King that needs His mother to keep begging Him continuously for favors.

Nun Mary just finished praying to Mary, Mary will quickly stand up from her chair and go to Jesus
^

You are simply naive! Do you think in your wildest dream that Obi will stand and watch Soludo pick the APGA ticket? He knew all along that Soludo is even a bigger threat than Ngige. This is what Obi did -

1 - Over blew the deportation scandal to "kill" Ngige's party in anambra. 70% succeeded

2 - Convince Soludo to join APGA so as to make it easy defeating him during party primaries or denying him ticket. 100% succeeded

3 - Play the politics of rotation to confuse the masses, by going around preaching that anambra north deserves it. 80% successful.

I made two conclusions the moment I read about Soludo leaving PDP. It is either he was too naive and foolish or his handlers are stupìd. In Nigeria, most governors would like their SSG succeeding them, cos that is the only time they are assured their secrets won't go public.

Soludo is about to die politically, cos he performed the plebeian harakiri.
Kai, Rhino na sorcerer o, see political prediction per excellence.

naijadeyhia: We are no longer in the dispensation of Judgement so destruction is covered by grace for now. What has trinity got to do with anything? Besides since you allude that the catholics thought others about the trinity why isnt Mary part of the trinity? We should have God the Father, God the son and Mary the mother of God and not God the holy spirit. Why is Mary more revered than the Holy Spirit? None of you depend on the Holy spirit but rather depend on Mary who also needed the holy spirit and waited along with others in the upper room. Is it that the catholic church cannot make an image representing the Holy Spirit? Rather they have images for dead saints, dead popes, dead everything including Mary having a ridiculous bleeding heart. Mary can keep crying and be heart broken as her images portray but i am rejoicing because my Lord and savior Jesus Christ is risen and has gone to prepare a place for me so that where He is i can be also

In Luke 24 a question was asked the morning Christ Rose again and was no longer in the Tomb. The angel said "why do you seek the living among the dead?"There is a great gulf between the living and the dead and they have no connection. The only connection we hope to have is if they died in Christ and then we have hope that we shall meet again on the Lords Day. Till then pray all you want to the dead and let the devil keep masquerading as an angel of light to you lot.

When you answer try to back it up with scripture as i do. This will prove to me that you are not concocting fables as you have been taught from childhood as a catholic. Going further also show me anywhere from the bible where God says we should pray to the dead for guidance or assistance (as you fondly call them dead saints)
